I had the pleasure of seeing them many times in their day, and even conned my way backstage at a show in Winnipeg( looong story) , but this is vintage Trick at their most powerful. Played basically their whole first album almost...LOL. Perfection.

Thank you for posting! I played in a band that closed the show for them in Chicago, but that's another story. Late '90s. Billy Corgan came up and did Auf Wiedersehen with them. Bun E. Carlos was apparently unhappy with the monitor mix because he poured a drink right into the cone! I have it somewhere on High-8 Video! Gotta get that transferred and posted! So many memories!
These guys have been influenced by everyone from The Move to The Raspberries and have lasted since they first started calling the band Cheap Trick; by far their most fitting moniker thus for the last four decades plus minus their own secret weapon in Brad Carlson a.k.a. Bun E. Carlos one of the greatest Jazz musicians in the history of Rock & Roll. And even if their song Surrender has that line about their particular choice of records and two years after the fact they were invited to open up for said act’s Love Gun Tour in Budokan, 🇯🇵 So what if they went from selling virtually none of their previous albums to becoming overnight sensations? C’mon man. You have no idea how hard they’d been working for those previously unable to find anything by any other names related to Cheap Trick like The Bald Men Of Europe and besides; that’d been both Rick and Bun E. Long time before Robin Zander came along for the ride.1969-24! They absolutely kill it in this performance. They arrived fully formed. Such an awesome band.

What a rock concert used to be...pure energy from people who could play an instrument. And the pairing of 2 pretty boys with 2 goofballs was genius.
Their look was more interesting than Kiss, Devo, or any others, imo.
