These guys are from my home town; Rockford I’ll. I haven’t seen them in years but I know all but Robin. Rick’s wife is a high school classmate of mine. At Rick’s invite I saw the first time they played out in a small club here in town. Great memories!!😊👍
This can't possibly be Cheap Trick singing live. Definitely NOT a sentence I ever thought I'd say/write. They're still a mega talented bunch and absolutely fabulous and deserve their award. Long time coming though!
Bun E. Is so underrated, he's perfectly on beat, not in front of, definitely not behind. I remember him doing all those cool solos and drum intros on the live records. Legendary master.
Omg..I love this song..I loved it at 16...I love it at 52...means very different things now.. to what it did then..but damm..this is a GOOD song...thankyou cheap trick!!!! Make an old girl smile today. 💖
Sooooooooo looking forward to finally seeing these guys live in a few months. Along with Suzi Quatro headlining some more great Aussie acts on the Gold Coast. Guessing I'll be one of the old crowd @64 but hey, I'll be up front in the pit!! 💯🤘🙏
@@georgehenderson7783 Mansfield Massachusetts, Robin's son filled in for Rick Neilson and the bun e. Carlos left the band yrs ago. They opened for Rod Stewart
For those of you wondering. This is live. But it stitches together 2 live audio. Up until 3:24, the audio is from the Budokan recording ("Best Version") from the 1970's. Then, at 3:24, it switches to the audio from this video. So, it's live, but mostly from the 1970's Budokan performance.
I'm planning on singing this for my mom the next time I see her. Throwing all my problems out the window for the wonderful woman who raised me soon. She's always loved this song.
It is from their live at Budokan album which is live, but overdubbed, dubbed over the video from their rock hall of fame performance. I have no clue why they did this.
The audio is from Budokan from the 1970's for the first 3:30. The crowd chants are a dead give away, plus the guitar riffs. Then, at 3:24, it switches over to the audio from the video.
I never heard of this group until I accidentally found them while searching for a song I dreamed about. I had never heard the song before. Certainly not 'this' version. The dream - man had a soft mellow voice and sang it slow, making it a 'hot' romantic song. smh But I must have heard it somewhere, on some one's radio and I didn't pay attention, then my brain processed it to something that I 'would' listen to. LOL That was about two years ago. I found this group and recognized the words!!! But it was not the song in my dream. I'm still searching for that dream singer. If the song existed, then that singer must exist also.
Saw them in Estero Florida last night Totally crap Rick Neilson was in the wrong key most of the night singer was screaming ,sound man was not to bright either he had Neilsons guitar the loudest should have tuned him out completely they had 3 guitarists .REO speed wagon saved the night they were amazing
I think that the song was overdubbed some of it is live and some isn't ,Robin is lipsyncing because his voice sounds exactly the same as live in Budokan and I have heard live versions and he never sounds like the album. and at one point you hear the crowd cheer 3 times in a row just like Budokan at the same part of the song.
I just saw a video of a group of teenagers in a studio doing this tune..and they were 100000 times better..in time. depth, energy, sound and motion...so, cheap trick..you have been bettered by a group of real savey teens.
No, the person who runs this channel dubbed their Live at Budokan version over the video of their rock n roll hall of fame performance.. I don't know why... They still sound awesome, but Budokan was a cleaned up live album.
THIS particular "video" may not be the best, BUT the LIVE, "At Budokan" version most definately IS the absolute BEST!
Agree!
Yes I'm old as dirt, but I saw them live in 1978! The whole band is awesome, Robin Zander has done a phenomenal job of maintaining his voice!
He should, the recording is from 79
Oh yes, i remember!
Yes. 1978. Opened for…The Rolling Stones. Anaheim CA
Never saw them live. But this song was back in my days the top
Saw them in 78 too. Opened for Ted Nugent .

Loved Cheap Trick in High School. I'm 57 and I still Love em ! Great Band
Yes great great band
Hearing this song gave me chills.
I born in 1964 and I still love this song 👏 Regards from Portugal 👌🇵🇹
Meu primeiro concerto no pavilhão do Sporting em 1984 simplesmente memorável
Me too, i'm also from 1964

They're not (well, they are in the video) but someone put the At Budokan version over this
-Holy shit they are-
Nvm caught in 4K
It's just a cheap trick, unless you do it bloody well, lol, then it is The Cheap Trick.
this is bullshit. this is their recorded song off their CD. Why do bands do this Milli Vanilli shit.?
@@juckimal i dont think they did, who ever did the video i think did
Bun E. Is so underrated, he's perfectly on beat, not in front of, definitely not behind. I remember him doing all those cool solos and drum intros on the live records. Legendary master.
It's the cigarette.
He never got the full recognition he deserved.
not playing live

First saw them in '78 - and many times since. Not always easy, as I'm in the UK!
God i love this band since i was a young girl my older sisters loved them when i was so young im 54 now and still obsessed with them
Same here, my sister was 5 years older than me, but she played it so much, I remember it as if it was yesterday and I love this song too ❤
Im 53. I remember when I was about 10, it seemed like this song was being played on the radio every 20 mins. Along with brown girl in the ring.
Very 1st concert I ever went to. Lakeland fl. They opened for 38 special. 😊
Greatness straight from Rockford Illinois you’re welcome world
After 41(?)years I got back to this Great🎵🎼 Music Group :They Always play best 👍😉🎶. I just got older... 😊😉. Saluti a tutti, Antonello, Genova, Italia.

Just saw Cheap trick tonight and Robin's vocals were spot on.
They're STILL at it?! Where was this? Who is the drummer now?

So wunderschön 😀ich liebe diesen Song 🥰
The worn off varnish on Rick's Gibson testifies to his guitar dedication and general badassedness !!!
Love that track ,never dates ,gets you on your toes every time, and even better live 🎉
@🤘🤘🎸 🎸
Still love this song! Thank you for this, greetings from Germany! 🎸💕🥰
this really is the best version of the song. the soundtrack is from the original hit single and cleverly cut into a more recent live show.
This song has such irresistible pace - I challenge anyone to remain still!
Good times

They play so clean i’d swear its a playback😂
and you’d swear right, cause it is 🙃
It was funnier when Michal said it. And now that im pointing it out. It's more funny thinking about it.
Yeah that is not them now that is for darn sure that looks like it's from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and it was pretty Dreadful
Can't believe they are still rocking on 😁
LMAO....if it's not Live..it's all playback ⚡🌐⚡✌
I agree this is their best version. 👍
what a great band
Super Sound :-)
Bun E Carlos !
Yes, we all want to be wanted, needed and loved.
I can hardly believe it, his voice is still smooth as silk.
Unfortunately that video is not the same point in which the audio was recorded. That audio was recorded 45 years ago.

No kidding a best version
Best live version ever after 40+ years of the orginal at the Budokan 🙂
Wow, good!
Thy over dubbed the Live at Budokon version until the end of the song. They weren't actually playing this. Still one of all time favorites. Epic song.
Entirely correct.
