One of the best explanation (overall) on the web; the product is also together with the explanation. Very professional sir. I'm envious but in a good way.
OK, I commented before I got to the end and saw your motion system. You, my friend, are a flight sim GOD! Absolutely amazing, amazing, amazing! So compact, small and immersive! I cannot believe what you have built. Some day, when I have time, money and space, I want something like this for my sim. Heck, not even that complex, but you have set the bar. Great job, I am truly impressed.
Hello Rolandvanroy, you video is truly well made. As you know many of the cockpit builders have questions about the details and in your video everything is explained very clear. Thank you for that. Nice flying with your setup. Regards from Germany from Andy....
Great, Roland! What I like most (while EVERYTHING is excellent!) is your clear brief explanations. No "soooo... well ... aaaand ..." Professionel! I guess I'll try to say hello at Lelysted in November... Peter (German 737NG builder, anyway)
Let me add my kudos to the many you've already received. As amazed as I am by the thoroughness of the build, your ability to present a lot of complexity and detail is superb. Happy flights!
Pure Genius! That is all I can say! Absolutely amazing my friend. So many good ideas to build a home flight sim cockpit. Thank you for sharing, and keep up the great work. Happy flying.
I am impressed by the quality of design and workmanship. It gives my something to aspire to. Now, if I just had the tools and any woodworking/metalworking skills I would be on my way! :)
It's because my self-build cockpit does not include windows or glare shield. Also the cockpit view over the hood of the engine with prop gives much nicer view, and when panning left, you can see the left wing. I have adopted the cockpit view position so most of the dials are out of view.
@przhevsky :Fresnel lens: €22,- each 17" LCD: €50,- each (ebay) 15" LCD: €40,- each (ebay) Matrox TH2Go: €125,- (ebay) PC & video cards: €250,- (ebay) MJOY-16 interface card: €20,- each (self build) switches, levers, rotaries: €60,- wood, metal etc: €50,- Yoke: €50,- self made so total display setup cost: around €910,- includig PC
@Aphradonis : Sorry, I have not seen these big size lenses. You could check "TV magnifier" types, but they normally have coarse grooves, and this reduces screen quality.
I did not try, but I don't see any reason why it should not work. You have to configure the second video card have both outputs active, and then span the desktop over all monitors.
hello sir, grate video and after all those years i hope you are keeping well! I’d like to ask you if you can give some advice or a tip about how to calculate the proper distance between the fresnel lenses and the lcd’s.
If i ever come across the money, I would build something very similar... In fact, just about identical. The only difference is i would make the buttons functional by wiring them up to a board that sits in the wooden casing, and make it attachable by USB. The monitors themselves would be hooked up to one of the graphics cards. Those would be where it would get expensive. But i think the entire thing, computer and all, could be built for US$5,000-$6,000.
Purhaps you could help me? I have search and asked about a solution for the instruments in my home built cocpit, with no solutions. I would really like to try to use FS panel studio, but no one can explain how it Works on Win7. Maybe there are other programs but i dont know them then. This is my only problem to finish my cockpit, and also i would like to ask you for which projector would be good enough to use as a front monitir today?
Yes, 3D Lens does not seem to sell F550 anymore. You could check bhlens dot com : Their BHPA550-15 seems close to the original F550 from 3D lens. I have not dealt with BHLens, please let me know how it goes.
Hi, Is it possible to connect 2 monitors on the second video card?. Now I have one Video card connect to triple 2 go digital but I use only 2 video out from triple head 2 go. I plan to buy second video card (Cheap one) and install it on the same computer to connect 2 lcd display for display panel.
Ermias Zemichael No lol those monitors are shit, The fresnel lens is a cool idea but can be replaced by 27- 32 inch monitors. I have zero envy for someone why uses 10 year old 15 inch monitors in a tripple screen configuration with fresnel lenses just blassting up that low resolution up to a giant size. Plus if the lenss are not perfectly parallel you are going to get blur on parts of the screen.

Sir!! This was awesome, I admire your work, creativity, and discipline. Thanx for sharing it!!!
Sir, you are a genius.. I have never seen these Fresnel lens in use in any sim.. And I have been into simming for some 20 years..
Great work.

This is a fantastic video. Great explanation, and the end result is great!
Well done sir.

FANTASTIC work! Really enjoyed the video as well.
Amazing!! You did a great engineering job. Congrats and thanks to share your project with us.
Basically, any multi-monitor video card can be used, as long as the system also allows additional video card for the panel views.
Really nice one, liked the detailed descriptions
Roland this is fantastic and gives me great inspiration. Thank you so much for great ideas!
that is a really good video. Thank you for sharing this
Well done. Great project discipline, well presented and thought provoking.
This is superb! Thanks for sharing.
It's on the "Modular Simpit" page.
Estimated:
Motion platform: €1000
Visual system: €500
Cockpit: €400
Great engineering!
Basically yes, as long as you keep the monitors & lenses aligned in a circle

Great sim and very informative video. Some great display ideas.
This is an amazing job and gr8 instructional video. Tx for sharing!
this is awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing... Love it!
Great informatión. Thanks for such a good video! A lot of valuable ideas in it
Very impressive. That was 6 years ago. What kind of system do you have now?
i can never get this in my lifetime !
Flight simulation like a BOSS! This is Genius, although it is so complicated for us lazy people...lol

very nice video introduction
Well done, thanks for sharing.
Mooi gemaakt man! Erg orgineel.
You've done a great job, really lot of work well done. Tell me, is this possible to make 180 degrees view of scenery? For example, using 3 projectors.
Why not have only the outside view behind the wind screen? You have the instruments in the cockpit already.
@Aphradonis : Sorry, I have not seen these big size lenses. You could check "TV magnifier" types, but they normally have coarse grooves, and this reduces screen quality.
Great, really impressive!
wow...superb!

Well done sir.
all looks great i found a flight sim cockpit on ebay new
search flight simulator cockpit worth a look
The frensel lenses are amazing... can it work with four screens to give you even more vision on the larger airliners?
It is home-build project. Please see my other videos.
very nice cockpit!
can you tell me where I can buy the magnifiers
hello sir, grate video and after all those years i hope you are keeping well! I’d like to ask you if you can give some advice or a tip about how to calculate the proper distance between the fresnel lenses and the lcd’s.

wow man... just wow....
thanks for share this video :)
Kei coole cockpit! Hoeveel heeft dit ongeveer gekost?
Amazing.
How did you get the motion platform?I want to get one.Anyways ,good job!
amazing , it can be totally comercialized!
My only concern is the running costs. Does it cost a lot more to run more screens?
Nice moovee! Fanks

And what kind of glass you put in front of the 3 large screen? What's the use of them?
Mr, i was trying to buy the glases but the f550 does not exist anymore... do you have any alternative store o link? thx!!
Yes, 3D Lens does not seem to sell F550 anymore.

Hi,
How do you achieve the multi-monitor for the instruments panel? You just extract the vedio of instruments out to LCDs? Or you use other softwares?
@Ensonic13 : It's in the video: 3Dlens.com
2020: ultra wide curved screens
My dear. Wonderful, your simulator. optimum construction. but
I could use a radeon hd 6950 Eyefinity, instead of matrox?
thank and hug
wow the days when pcs didn't have to be extreme beast to play a sim
brilliant
How did you get fsx across 3 screens I can't I have tried everything please help
Hi,
where can you buy these fresnel lenses?
Could you tell me about the cost of this one?
my bad, i didn't finish it, but i realized the buttons are fully functional... gonna have to outdo him another way then XD
hehe at 1:08 I thought You used a gas mask! You used some high chemical materials or something? :D
Sorry, but you are asking questions that I have no experience with, so I cannot help you.
@Rolandvanroy thnx a lot!
Genius!!!
very smart
nice, you sell this project? how much tks
about how much money did you spend?
wonder if he got oculus rift this year
how much did it all cost
Cannot find Oculus Rift, cannot continue gaming.
bravo

@vdtube: Sorry, just hobby, no selling
wtf is this?
lol those shitty monitors

Ermias Zemichael lol i agree, im just the kinda guy with a 40 inch 4k and two 32 inch 1440p at my desk.
+Marcus Christensen Maybe he should have used a curved OLED in 2010?
+Marcus Christensen
This Video is from 2010 - i think you are not good in reading, right?
Its not about screen size, anyone can do that, its about depth cues and colliminated rays which regular LCDs (no matter the size) would be able to do.
