My daughter's 2015 Chevy Equinox had the P06DE code and it was stalling. She took it to her mechanic and he changed the solenoid. It worked for a week and she took it to the Chevy dealer where they diagnosed it as a bad solenoid. As she drove away, the Check Engine light came on again. she returned to the Dealer, and they took it back in and changed the solenoid again. It has been running great for over a year now. I have heard that the solenoids are bad to start with. Now my 2013 Malibu is getting the same code P06DE. They replaced the solenoid on June 6 and it has been running good until June 28 when it stalled three times coming home. Then right before we got home, the check engine light came on and the little display said the motor was running with reduced power. I drove about a mile and the CE light went off. Then another mile it came back on. I hooked up my DTC reader and it had a p06de code again. It is now on solid and the display says Running at reduced power. I suspect that we got another bad solenoid. Time for a Recall for this, Chevy!
I have the same issue with my 2018 equinox 1.5t. What did you end up doing, did you replace it or just keep driving it like that?
My 2022 equinox has that code too
2016 Malibu here😅
2021
2018 malibu here
I have the same exact car and this code has been the death of me. Been told many different solutions so i replaced hundreds of dollars of parts and it went away but just came back yesterday. My car has been testing my patients the past 2 years lol
Thank you 2013 Malibu ltz 2.5 engine worked like a charm❤
This knowledge just saved my cars engine. Subscribe worthy 💪🏻
Just ordered this part for my 2013 Malibu LT 2.5L. Hoping for the best
Good luck. We will keep our fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted.. I have been wondering if people with this code should also try cleaning out their oil system using a detergent like some sea seafoam or similar.
👍💪🤞
@@ScottiesHobbies I replaced the part, check engine light immediately went off, went right and got a full synthetic oil change and threw a fan of sea foam in my gas tank. No issues this far, driven about 200 miles since
@@DrWhomstdve1096 are you still going good?
@@Nophax yup
Where are yhall buying this I've checked all the local part houses and nobody can get it
2013 Malibu LT 2.5 L. Was getting code pO6de. Changed sniffer above oil filter. Fixed
for a month or so then came back. Plan B. Was using 0w-20 oil Penzoil Dexon. Switched
to Mobil 5w-30 dexon high mileage. Used some sea foam high mileage before oil change. Changed oil again after 1000 miles or so, these motors get filthy fast. also when changing oil
i pour about a quart in empty oil pan to flush it a bit. I think that 0w-20 is too thin.
This car burns oil. About a quart every 1000-1200 miles. Seems to be working well
now , Use Mobil oil.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I always recommend cleaning these oil systems with Sea Foam. You are right, these engines get dirty!
Good video thank you
I have 2017 volt and I was wondering if you would know where is the location for the oil pressure solenoid? I can’t find anything on it
Thank you
Just had this code come on, on my Chevy Malibu ‘13, 90k miles. Gonna probably just try to replace that sensor hopefully get the same results.
Car says engine power may be reduced but seems to drive fine and isn’t making any weird noises.
2.5 l engine
@@joshsonnefeld-fx5wj I'm dealing with this now on my daughters 2013 malibu. Her car actually went full into limp mode though
This video was great you save me a lot of time and trouble
@Scotties Hobbies My wife's 2015 Malibu just got this code on our way home. We were climbing a mountain up to about 4k FT and the RPM got up to about 4k. When approaching the peak we got this fault. And I think the dash said something about reduced engine performance 🤔 Was able to clear it and it didnt come back on the 1 hour remainder of our trip. Is this something to just keep an eye on and if it come back swap the sensor? Thanks.
I have 2015 chevy impala 2.4. I have p06de, p055b,p055c,p0521. I changed 2 oil pressure sensor and the one you showed on the video. 3 codes are gone except p06de. I changed that you showed solenoid twice no luck.
2015 GMC Canyon same code, where I work we have the same access to repair R&R's and while every bone in my body says that the solenoid needs replaced the recommended repair from GM directed our Mechanic's to the oil level sensor??? Printed off the R&R's but then the snap on OBD2 was able to get the solenoid to work manually? Odd that it works just fine with the DTC reader but then fails when driving (throws the code) any thoughts? I am going to start with electrical inspection before replacing sensors but will definitely replace the pressure control solenoid thx for the video
Scottie
Today I was coming back from Delaware we live in NJ we were on NJ turnpike and my wife was following , she calls and tells me engine light just came on and a message that said engine power is reduced . She said it felt fine but we switched cars.... On getting back on the the TPK I hit the gas to get to speed and it shifted to a lower gear and speed dropped... So I backed off and was able to get to speed but slowly but drove the rest of the was at 70 mph. Only feel that happed went hitting the gas.. I Have been checking around and found one thing is what you said but also someone else said check for after market oil filters that could be the problem. Have you heard of that ?? He referred to a bulletin PIP 5519.. Thanks for the videos. P.S. will check the filter later when the car cools down....
Did you get a check engine light to turn on when the reduced engine power light came on?? From experience the reduced engine power comes on for a misfire or air fuel ratio problem. Like a oxygen sensor that has gone dead or a coil that has gone dead. That doesn't mean those are the only possibilities..
@@ScottiesHobbies I think I may have found the problem , I got the code P06DE and was reading about it.. Could be oil filter , could be oil pressure sensor, oil level. Checked oil and it seems low , not dropping any , don't seem to be burning any but low.. Going to get oil and see what happens.. Thanks for getting back to me will keep you posted....
@@Steve_The_Ignorant_Astronomer In this video the vehicle had that same code and it ended up being the oil solonoid. But I have had reports that people have replaced this solo noid and had the same problem come back. I am kind of pondering if if maybe the EV oil ports in the engine are getting clogged over time period maybe running some sea foam in the oil system prior to a oil change might free up the gunk in the engine. Just a thought though. Keep me posted . Can't wait to hear what you come up with
@@ScottiesHobbies OK , I added oil one quart maybe more later letting it settle sometimes hard to see exactly , and it is easier to add then to take out. Anyway cleared code took car out for a spin and no problem getting up to speed. Just dont know why I never got low oil level which may have caused this problem... Will keep you posted. Thx
@@ScottiesHobbies engine light came on and stayed on. Since putting oil in it is running fine
I found your video very helpful thanks Ted
I have a Chevy Cruze 2018 LT 1.4 Turbo'd
I had a P1101, P0014, and then P06DE (x3)
I have a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu With a 2 point oh, leader engine Turbo charge the code that I have was P, 06DE and the other code was P0171 period
The car has 275000 miles. A new engine was put in at a 151000 miles. And I am just about to pay the car off. And I want to keep it another 4 years. What is what the codes that I presented?
I have this issue with my car(13 malibu LT) I replaced the solenoid less than a month ago then my vacuum pump went out Saturday fixed that now I'm back to square one with the P06DE
Same issue on my 2020! Vacuum pump went out now this p06 code. Car sometimes says service esc and traction. Have you gotten it fixed ? Any details ?
Awesome video! I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu limited with the 2.5 engine with over 450K miles that got the P06DE code. I also had a P0420 code. I replaced the upstream 02 sensor and the OCV. I was good for about 40 miles, then the PO6DE code came back. Any suggestions on what to do next?
Holy cow! 450k!? That is amazing. You gotta be treating that thing right. Have you tried using a oil system cleaner like Sea Foam? You might have clogged oil passages. Did you get a oem actuator?
@@ScottiesHobbies Yes sirrr, I do my best to take care of it. But I'm always on the go. Sooooo.... I ran a STP flush through the engine, then changed the oil and filter. I saw somewhere to run it with the air conditioner off. I did and it passed emissions. When I turned my air conditioner back on, three minutes later, the engine light came back on reading P06DE. I cleared the code again, turned the air conditioner off and the light hasn't come back on. The one part that didn't pass emissions was the evaporator coil. I'm starting to think that was the issue all alone.
Replaced the sensor, check engine light went away! Thanks!
It’s been a year now, is it still off for you?
I saw the same code on my 2022 Equinox. Is it the same solenoid valve?
I have the same code popping up on my 2018 Ram 1500 with 3.6 engine. Here is the entire PO6DE $07E8. Will the solution be the same for me?
I have a 2.5 2015 Chevy Colorado with the same code and I think I found the sylonoid there is 2 is that right and how do I know which one is bad
Where did you purchase part?
I’m having this same engine code on my 2014 cts my engine over heated one day and reduced power but when I looked under the hood I noticed my coolant was out and when I filled up back up it was leaking from the hose connected to reservoir fixed the hose filled the coolant and now the engine doesn’t over heat anymore and no more reduced power but I still have this code not sure what to do from there.
What happened since then?
What’s the part number for the sensor because the GM website doesn’t tell what it is?
2013 Malibu LS 2.5L. P06DE: Engine Oil Pressure Control Circuit Stuck On.. how do I test if it’s the oil pressure sensor or the solenoid?
My Chevrolet Spark 2022 has the same code PO6DE, it has 94,000 miles on it and dealing with financial issues but the car won’t let me accelerate quick and makes weird belt noises when pressing the gas
I got mine fix. And a couple days later, the the same code came back on.can you please tell me why
Possibly a wiring issue, which I hope it is not.Another problem could be clogged oil passages.Have you tried some type of oil system cleaning such as Sea Foam?
I have 2016 Malibu Ls 1.5. I have the same problem. If you could help I greatly appreciate it
I have the same problem as well. I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu.
Lt 1.5 L
Same issue
My girl has the same year and model. Would gladly appreciate the part number. Good content will keep watching your videos
I have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler with 52k miles with this code. Code clears during city driving, but reappears when driving on the freeway (above 55mph)
I don't have any videos covering that specific vehicle. Have you kept up on regular oil changes? You might want to try a oil system. Cleaning such as sea foam, you might have some type of clogged period that might be worth trying before you go ahead and replace the valve.
@@ScottiesHobbies I ended up going to the dealer and they confirmed the Solenoid was bad, so same issue different car. The the solenoid is integrated with the oil pump so the oil pump needed to be replaced. The oil pump was covered by warranty, so that is a good thing. Your video helped me make sure the issue was addressed as I asked if the issue was the Solenoid and they confirmed that was the case.
Trying to find the location of oil pressure control solenoid 2014 Chevy Malibu 2.5l code po6de
I'm going thru this same code on my 2016 chevy malibu 1.5 . I did change the oil pressure sensor and still the same thing. So now ima give this video a try and changed that out hopefully it works ..
Did it fix it for you?
It worked?
So far it's going good after I changed that out . 😎👍
No it gave me the same problems so i had to change out the whole oil pump @tiffanywilliams2764
Hi I have the same problem I changed the sensor my problem is now
Im geting P06DC on my 2019 Cadillac CTS is that the Same Part ??
I have a2014 Cadillac ats 2.0t I’ve changed that solenoid, pressure sensor and oil level sensor and still the code come up
You ever figure out your issue? I’m having the same problem. Looking for hrs in comments on the internet not getting anywhere.
@@adrianlamar3531 well so far the light hasn’t came back on. Besides those three parts I’ve also changed the vvt solenoids and pcv valves with hose. What have changed so far?
All data shows TSBs for the piston oil nozzle squirter, which can blow apart apparently, also a tbs for foreign material getting stuck I. The check valve if the oil pump, both require oil pan removal and such
Is there another name for it? I can't find it
I have a 2016 chevy malibu LT 1.5L where would the oil control solenoid valve will be located at?? I see other videos but have not seen this make and model..
I have the same one. It's inside your oil pan. Gonna take a little work and some dry time, but you can do it. Just be gentle unless you want to replace the pan as well. I used a wire brush to help remove the old gasket, worked well. 🫡 Good luc
FYI: I just did this, and my car is working way better with more power, but light came on again but this time p06dd🤦🏾♂️ gonna change the vvt solenoid as well and see what we get. Will update after
I have a 2014 Chevy Malibu 2.5 LS with a P06DE code that has reoccured after replacing the intake solenoid valve and the exhaust solenoid valve. Also the Oil Control Valve has been replaced as well. I still have a DTC for the P06DE. I'm running out of options. Can you help? 😒👀
Have you been able to fix the problem??
@@gabrielmontiel1972 Not at all and the car jerks, hesitate, sputters at different speeds at times. I did notice what appears to be oil leaking on the block underneath the car on the passenger side. It was wet.

I have a 2013 Malibu
The only thing I do is clean the sensor and with that it lasts another 3 months
I think it is necessary to clean the engine flush
I changed mine twice and they same code keeps coming back on! 🤬. I even showed the Chevy dealership the code. They told me it was the correct part so i purchased it. Two weeks went by it came on again. They gave me another part. Another week went by. Same exact code is popping back up again. I’m taking to the dealership. I changed the sensor twice. Now i will see what the dealership service center say the problem is.
You might have a wiring problem or clogged oil delivery ports causing the oil not to flow when this solenoid opens.
Have you tried a oil system cleaning like Seafoam?
@@ScottiesHobbies No i haven’t tried that yet. I can look into it.
I have a 2013 Cadillac AtS 2.0T and it does the same thing the check engine light comes on and off and I took it to AutoZone and on the results it says to change the oil pump
Same problem I changed the oil pump and the same codes came back P06de . I replaced the control solenoid also.. did you get yours fixed?
I have a check engine on and a p06dc can you help ty

I have a 2019 Chevy Malibu 1.5L and have a P06dd code. Is the Oil Pump or the oil pressure Sensor? 88k on it and the sensor was already replaced with a Dorman model. The dash shows 30 to 55 PSI when driving. Suggestions?
Have you tried to clean the oil system with something like Sea Foam?
@@ScottiesHobbies I did a motor oil flush since the oil was pretty dirty. Which Seafoam would I try ?
@johngullo2524 just the general 'motor treatment' put it in a few hundred miles before your oil change. Then, pray. Lol. Try to clean out the oil ports. That engine gets real dirty.
I have a malibu 2014 2.5 lt, i just got the check engine light, they told me if the gears where like taking a little bit in shifting and i said yeah, so is it dangerous driving around with that issue?
my boy what ended up happening I have the same exact car same trim with the light
Does this cause you to lose oil too?
Doubtful.
How can i replace this part?
I have a 2019 equinox and it brings up that code. And said sensor was bad replaced it. Reset it. And came back on.. so could that be my problem as. Well
Completely possible. Also try a oil system cleaner like Sea Foam too.
If you use Amazon use this link to buy sea foam, I get a kick back. 👍😉 amzn.to/3v6pgwN
My code is P06DE where is it located on Chevy Malibu 2013
I have a 2013 Malibu and I’m getting that code but the reason I’m even checking is because my vehicle loses power while driving. Sometimes over night. I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu LT 1.5l with the same code what part I need to replace it will the part and the part number change for my year Malibu?
I have a 2016 Malibu 4 cylinder 1.5L turbocharged engine with the same code. Will the solenoid be in the same place?
were you able to fix the problem??
My problem turned out to be the car was low on oil. I had to add ~2.5q to fill it up. I researched the code and when I went to repair it realized the low oil was the issue. Ultimately, I only changed the oil and before I did the engine light went out and the code reset itself.
