- How to fix a P06DD engine code: Engine Oil Pressure Control Stuck Off
A P06DD Code is set when the oil pressure sensor detects the oil pressure is not correct.
Some vehicles, such as Dodge and Chevy, have a two-stage oil pump, which is controlled by an on/off solenoid.
One stage has the oil pump pressure at roughly 30 psi, while the high-pressure stage will be roughly 65 psi.
The computer switches between these stages depending on the engine conditions.
Possible Causes of a P06DD Code:
Low Oil Level - Wrong Oil - Very Dirty Oil
Bad Oil Pump
Bad Oil Pressure Sensor or Wiring
Something Blocking Oil Flow (Sludge - Wrong Oil filter)

2019 chrysler pacifica 3.6 v6 (pentastar) non-flexfuel. Had the oil changed by a lube tech in training at a quick lube place, drove just fine for about 300 highway miles, then check engine light came on, car was incredibly sluggish to accelerate, didnt want to rev above 1500 rpms, but did at least maintain speed. Checked my scanner and had the P06DD code, on these motors it generally seems like the pump or solenoid, which had me nervous being 300 miles from home. Called a mopar buddy of mine and he said it was probably a bad filter since it was just changed at a quick lube and they usually get cheaper filters. Got a wix xp filter from oreilly's, and took the old filter cartridge out. The lube tech had put the filter in upside down, crushed the anti drain back valve on it (luckily no pieces came off and went into the engine). Put the new wix filter in and the car runs like a top.
Before changing the filter i was seeing 7-9psi at idle, 24-31 accelerating, and 14-24 cruising. Once I changed the filter (and actually installed it correctly) I saw 30-31 pis at idle, 32-70 accelerating (depending on how much i was pushing the pedal), and 31-32 cruising. Luckily a simple fix for my scenario. Getting a refund from the lube place too.

Replacing the sensor attached to the oil cooler cleared this code on my grand Cherokee. It wasn’t the oil pump as told.

This happened to me today. I took it to O’Reillys immediately got the code P06DD or whatever then I took it to Valvoline and checked my oil it was really low so I refilled it but my oil pressure went back to normal so I’m just hoping that the cold go off but they didn’t see a leak or anything. I have a 2019 Dodge charger GT.

Currently troubleshooting this on my '14 Grand Caravan with 250K-kms (155k-miles) . We replaced the oil cooler/filter housing last year with an aftermarket aluminium one last spring and the vehicle worked fine until the middle of January. Started getting Rich/Lean, misfire and oil pressure codes. Replaced the oxygen sensors and the oil pressure switch. That cleared the Rich/Lean and misfire codes, but still had the P06DD. We are going to try to replace just the Oil Pump solenoid and see if that works. $50 vs $350. We'll keep you posted.

@@bartomand3681 I’m about to try to fix this problem myself. Did your engine pressure light remain off after all the parts your replaced since the past month man ?
@@onesikm3 yes sir. Had to clear a code once after about a week, but since then, its all good.
Had the sensor replaced still the check engine light is on new oil change pressure was checked and normal operating pressure but the light is still on. The mechanic thinks it’s a computer issue
I got the code so I checked my oil level first...was really low. Needed 3 quarts to get it back to the middle of the safe area. I know you said "low oil or wrong oil", but I'm guessing there's a leak somewhere so I have an appt for my mechanic to try and figure out what the issue is. I did get an oil change 6 months ago, and the guy insisted on using synthetic oil (which my 2014 Jeep doesn't call for). Not sure if that would make the oil leak out?

For me that was a symptom but not a cause.
I changed my oil and then this code came on could it be the oil? I'm confused it's the same oil I use all the time plus I have a new oil cooler and oil pressure sensor
It needs to be diagnosed, but if you are using the same oil, it is unlikely that. I would check the new parts that were installed to be sure everything is installed correctly, and wire connections are plugged in good.
The code came out on my challenger but it does go away like a day or two
Would a leaking valve cover be another reason
unless your low on oil from the leak then no your valve cover is already leaking pressure through spark plug seals etc
I have a 2018 dodge caravan GT p06dd code when I turn the key on position, it shows me I have a zero pressure so what do you think it is?
2017dodge ram 1500 3.6v psi is 99 and temp is 104 I got that code

could a bad plastic oil cooler cause this code? i hear the plastic stock ones are garbage
after i change mine that’s when i started getting the code
me too..after changig the plastic oil cooler as it was cracked...now we have even replaced the expensive job of theboil pump..same code..same limp mode
@@tracyhenry6752i did a lil research the oil pump filter might be clogged up the next time you change your oil pour a bottle of engine flush in the oil crank case & let it run for about 15-20 mins then let it come out with the old oil
@@jahariereddick7098 The oil is fresh....each of the 3 engine repaors on just the oil cooler required 3 full oil and filter changes.. Then the mechanic that did the oil pump just last week chose to do it by pulling the engine and going in from the top and so I have all new full synthetic oil and filter. Again
