Silverado Sierra 5.3L 2014 & Up, Oil Pressure sensor and PCV Valve Change. Did not fix my P06DD .

  • I was having engine code P06DD on my Sierra 2014 5.3L.
Not much info on the net.
Truck was making a whining sound like a power steering pump.
AFM was disabled so no more V4 Mode, always runnig in V8 Mode.
Oil Pressure in the cluster was normal.
((( At the same time i have cleaned the Engine Oil Pressure Control Solenoid Valve connector with brake cleaner because there was oil residue on it.That is where the problem is for that P06DD engine code.)))
The oil going up that connector is creating some kind of a short i guess.
    Finally the oil pump died..
About 10 to 12 hour job... You need to remove everything in front of the timing chain cover, remove the oil pan, timing chain cover to change that stupid valve.
    Way to go GM...
Will try to give an update when temperature gets warmer here.
    Parts i have used :
    ACDELCO 55488247 Oil Pressure Sensor.
ACDelco 12631624 GM Original Equipment Positive Crank Ventilation (PCV) Valve
Filmed with Olympus TG Tracker in 1080P 60FPS

The problem is an issue with the timing chain tensioner if the sensor didn't fix it. I believe it is a TCB recall from all chevy and GMC dealers. What happens is the timing chain slips because of the tensioner on the oil pump and can actually damage the pump. Get it to a dealer or do a full timing change pump tensioner etc replacement before the oil pump throws shavings into the engine.

    What does a p06dd mean

What does the P06DD Code Mean?
P06DD code indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) receives a signal from the engine oil pressure sensor that engine oil pressure is below the predefined allowable thresholds. In such a situation, the PCM attempts to minimize engine wear by disabling the oil pump drive and setting the code.

Mine just came on, is it drivable?

    • @obscur156
      @obscur156  2 года назад

If you had the message to stop the engine immediately,it is not drivable.
If it's P06xx,the oil pump will fail soon...

@@obscur156 I reset the code and ligh went away, i just changed spark plugs and cables . I noticed the cables were a bit shorter than oem ones, so i am wondering if that triggered the light. Is a steady light no flashing and no message.

@@BEARDED_VATO Well ,if it was P06DD it will probably come back.
If it comes back,i would trade it right away before it fails if you can.
It is a very expensive repair and lifters will probably be next...
Keep us updated with your issue please.
      Regards.

Great video and comments. Have a 2016 Chevy Silverado 5.3 that had the same code. I was over due for oil change. Did the change and the light when away. I read a few comments about a whining noise. Here’s a video of mine. Is this similar whining?

Yours looks okay from what I heard in your video.
You will hear better that whining noise when you start from a stop, you won't hear it at higher speed.
