Ah the N64 days, just a kid and no internet to look up anything. Hard levels were beat by word of mouth in most neighborhoods. Oot was the best at that time. Thanks for the memories
Maybe you didnt have internet when you where playing N64 but many of us did and you certainly could look up walkthroughs and codes and stuff back then. They just weren't videos yet. I printed out a 300 page guide for OoT as a matter of fact from an ancient site called Gamesages.com (now known as IGN) back in 1998 when I was 12. Yeah, internet was still relatively new at the time. Most of us had to use strategy guides or sheer knowledge from others to beat those old games, back in the day.

What I am really missing is the "WOW" effect of the past when you saw a new generation for the first time. Like first time 16bit graphics, PS1, PS2... all the new possibilities that came with it. Yeah exactly. I mean lol wouldn’t be crazy if the whole setup for it would be that, you are the last Turok in existence? Like apparently in the comics, “Turok” is just a title given to only the most special of people, and their job is to protect the universe from alien invasions... So what if this game setup was, you are tens of thousands years in the future. Literally to the point where humanity is fast approaching type VII on the kardashev scale... So what if In that timeline, someone or something, (maybe this games main antagonist, I think his name is the campaigner?), sent you and all of the Turoks all the back to ancient times, literally the Stone Age, thinking he destroyed them all, but turns out you survived and now all you remember is that you are Turok (maybe you find out that your real name is Tal’set near the game’s climax?) and your job now is to try and reverse what he done and find out why he did it in the first place? What if all of the dinosaurs are possessed by the campaigner and that’s why they are trying to kill you? And maybe for the reason for you fighting the human enemies is because the campaigner sent his men to where you are? Or what if those men from the far future were just sent to where you are on accident? So they think you’re the one that did That to them so they form a cult (similar to DOOM 2016s UAC?) solely based on worshipping the campaigner and they trapped you inside some sort of jungle prison/temple (what if that place is just this games level 1?), as if the distant future is try to takeover the distant past and vice versa? Of course the gameplay will be first if this series was to be rebooted.. it HAS to be. It’s what the these games were most known for, just like doom. But if you want to find out the story, this would be it! Or at least it would be the beginning of it. Besides that though, In my opinion, This Story setup fits Turok like a glove and it also sounds so cool!!! Got this for Christmas back in 97… I was 5. Snuck into the gifts before anyone got up… connected it to the tv and remember playing this… obviously not as good as this guy. lol 😅 But it’s nice to know I can watch this and remember being a kid. ❤
ah that music...many hours playing this amazing game when it was first released in the 90's...I still remember the cheat code for all weapons and unlimited health and ammo "on the eighth day god created turok"
Those Boss Battles were intense! Incredible skill to hold your nerve like that just as your both down to minimum health and just the slightest wrong move means game over. Brings back memories for sure.
This game was so epic. Cant even count the amount of hours I spent playing this. So advanced for its time. Used to scare the shit out of me too especially at night lol
This is perhaps one of my favorite games for N64. I loved discovering new levels, getting lost in the jungles or caves. It was an adventure in every way. My best friend loved Golden Eye 007, i was Turok all the way.
I remember when facing the T-Rex boss, if you hid in one of the holes in the walls he would stick his head in and try to chomp at you. If he ate you, he burped out your feathers :D
Definitely a nostalgic feeling watching this! I never beat the game but I would love to go back and play it again. Credit to whoever voiced the “dying” sounds because it was unique for that era of gaming.
I was the only kid in my street who had a N64, my mom got it for me with her first credit card, she wanted to make me happy and gave me one of the best Christmas gifts ever. Mom’s are wonderful.
It’s almost perfect in every way but the look of the original is a bit changed even when turning off saturation and lowering view distance.. it’s good but they should’ve left the look exactly the same, just update the resolution, controls and performance.
Just bought a couple of retro Fighters brawler 64 remotes for my N64 and have been playing Turok again for the first time in around 15 years, having a blast... great game.
I always liked how the game cues in different music when you are under water. Also the fact you could take your health above 100. More games should incorporate that.
Ouch! I still remember the limited z depth which worked well in creating tension but also left you frustrated when you wished to observe a greater expanse
Fun to be able to watch someone play through this game. Back when I played it I was too young and my gaming IQ wasn’t as developed as it is today. I couldn’t get pass the first two minutes of this game lol.

That sound effect for the item pickups is so obnoxious 😂 I love it. I also loved the climbing sound effect. Takes me right back to 1997
ah that music...many hours playing this amazing game when it was first released in the 90's...I still remember the cheat code for all weapons and unlimited health and ammo
"on the eighth day god created turok"
holy shit i remember the code but never knew what it stood for
Those Boss Battles were intense! Incredible skill to hold your nerve like that just as your both down to minimum health and just the slightest wrong move means game over. Brings back memories for sure.
when you play this at night for the first time, It gets a little scary.
Ok.
I will never forget this game. Watching my brother play it was just pure hype.
I love how I find everything on RUclips whatever I unearth from the most neglected cravices of my memory, whether it is music, games or anything else.
"New Memory Unlocked!"
Was one of my N64 favs. Such an awesome array of different weapons.
This game was so epic. Cant even count the amount of hours I spent playing this. So advanced for its time. Used to scare the shit out of me too especially at night lol
Same
SAMEEE lmao it was like a good scary tho
Ancient City used to scare me a little as a kid lmao
It didn't age well, but I remember back in the day this game was mind blowing.
I was never able to finish this game, I always got stuck at the catacombs, that level really scared the hell outta me.
Same here. As probably a 5/6 year old at the time, I dreaded going in to that level, so I'd make my older brother play that level for me lol.
Damn... I couldn't even beat the first main boss... The 2 Vehicles are no problemlos but the man was traumatizing for me...
Yup me too
This is perhaps one of my favorite games for N64. I loved discovering new levels, getting lost in the jungles or caves. It was an adventure in every way. My best friend loved Golden Eye 007, i was Turok all the way.
Refined taste my friend
I'm eating my nostalgic hat coming across this, I had this in the n64 days, golden eye etc too mario64, absolute classics....
I remember when facing the T-Rex boss, if you hid in one of the holes in the walls he would stick his head in and try to chomp at you. If he ate you, he burped out your feathers :D
This game was dope back in the day.
Definitely a nostalgic feeling watching this! I never beat the game but I would love to go back and play it again. Credit to whoever voiced the “dying” sounds because it was unique for that era of gaming.
Gracias bro, este juego es de mi generación, los de la revista nintendo, con esto volví como como 25 años en el pasado, un abrazo y muchas gracias.
legendary, Turok in my opinion will always be the top 3 fps of all time. It’s criminal it hasn’t been brought back to new consoles.
I was the only kid in my street who had a N64, my mom got it for me with her first credit card, she wanted to make me happy and gave me one of the best Christmas gifts ever. Mom’s are wonderful.
This game looked ahead of it's time
One of the very first fog mechanics
This brings back some crazy emotions for me.
This game was sick, Turok seeds of evil looked incredible with the expansion game pack. Loved that game aswell
I rented this game multiple times from Blockbuster as a kid. I still remember the RBNSMTH cheat code.
The game plays absolutely amazing on steam, completely updated, widescreen and all!
It’s almost perfect in every way but the look of the original is a bit changed even when turning off saturation and lowering view distance.. it’s good but they should’ve left the look exactly the same, just update the resolution, controls and performance.
I never played this as a kid but looking at it now, this game was pretty well made for those days.
Shout out to everyone that got the dinosaurs to fight each other
Just bought a couple of retro Fighters brawler 64 remotes for my N64 and have been playing Turok again for the first time in around 15 years, having a blast... great game.
This game seems pretty difficult, but cool!
That music really holds up to this day
Damn this brings back memories 98 Summer playing as a kid wow lol Having those flashbacks dope game
I always liked how the game cues in different music when you are under water. Also the fact you could take your health above 100. More games should incorporate that.
Dean Seltzer made Turok 1 and 2 a million times better with his fucking epic voice acting
As a longtime lover of all things doom during this time. I found Turok 64 to be refreshing and innovative in its own way :)
Still nauseous like when I played it for the first time many years ago.
I never thought I'd see or catch the name of this game again.
i like how in this intro, the iguana runs away, but in turok 2 he shoots back.
Kinda a benefit of not having FMVs available from CD. Devs had to get creative with realtime rendered logos. Extreme G 1+2 also do this.
June Of WRATH The iguana having none of the player s*@t
Ouch! I still remember the limited z depth which worked well in creating tension but also left you frustrated when you wished to observe a greater expanse
I REMEMBER THIS GAME WHEN I WAS A CHILD :( I FOUND IT. I WAS 10 WHEN I PLAYED IT. I AM 26 NOW
This shows me how trash I was at 7 years old, no clue what I was doing
same here, couldn't last more than 30 minutes in this game, especially Turok 2.
Yes, the maps were way to large and expansive for my 9 year old brain to comprehend. The 2nd game maps were even larger and more confusing lol.
I was 25 and had no clue what I was doing
I would always rent this game from blockbuster video as a kid. God I miss those times.
haha same and my parents rented Eyes Wide Shut on VHS one time and I stayed up late and watched it alone in my room all night
being like 7 years old playing this game baffled the hell out of me
Also the death cries of the human enemies in this are just awesome 😂😂😂😂
Yeah the overdramatic "braaggghhh" while they're jumping forward lmao
This takes me back to when I was 12.loved this game
Fun to be able to watch someone play through this game. Back when I played it I was too young and my gaming IQ wasn’t as developed as it is today. I couldn’t get pass the first two minutes of this game lol.
"gaming IQ" I like that.
Such good memories!! Just a tip, my brothers and I always had the map pulled up bc the player icon arrow acted as a good reticle for aiming
Lol I remember doing that to. This was a tough game. Took me a while to beat it without cheat codes! It use to actually scare me as a kid because it was so gritty and violent and dark. I remember having fun with it and luring the dinosaurs to the people so they would fight each other hahahaha. I don't know why but I got a kick out of that.
@@wombat5252 Play smarter, not harder! We used to do that too! But it was a pretty scary game as a kid. Still loved it. Mom didn't like us play with the blood on so we turned the blood green and claimed the bad guys were aliens lol
@@darthmadeus I was lucky where as my mom didn't care. I even had GTA 2 and 3. She never minded me playing those games with massive gore and violence. Hey, I still turned out fine lol I actually forgot about being able to change the blood to green. Funny. I thought it was cool when you saw the blood shooting out from the guy's necks. LOL
That’s awesome the final boss says “BOSS” as the name. This game needs to be remade just as it is with modern graphics.
No reload or anything. Pure shoot em up.
I remember renting this at Blockbuster. Graphics blew me away.
I'm a kid, and most kids nowadays would say this is garbage, but this game fascinates me
Good things don’t always come in pretty packages young one... =)
Old stuff was more creative with the limitations they had. Nowadays, people steal everything and sell dlc for like 50 dollars, lol.
a classic
i would kill for a remake (yes i have the hD switch port)
Wow brings alot of memories back use to play this everyday look at the graphics 😁
14:09 I am Turok!!
Wow I had to have been 14 when this came out. I would put my music on my boombox for the background music. I would also jump on need for speed on the p.c. afterwards! Lol...thank you for the memories
This is old school af
This game made me sick and puke from playing it so long when it first came out. And so I had to stay home from
School and keep playing it to see how fast I could finish it.
One of my earliest gaming memories. I never had a Rumble Pak, so i always had to start over. But thankfully, Turok 64 has the craziest and best cheat menu
Those cheats saved my life
@@taureanmoore8302 the one that made enemies small used to crack me up because of their high pitched death screaming
I still remember this game me and my younger brother enjoyed this and the sequels.
"bewareoblivionisathand" i will remember this cheatcode till i die haha
for me I will never forget “NTHGTHGDCRTDTRK”
