Hagerty did it with a bmw M5 going 80mph against a standing Plaid and the Plaid was able to catch up and beat it in a 1/4" I'm sure this car would do the same with ease!
I still remember back when the Ferrari F40 was the pinnacle of speed, and someone calculated this out: If a top fuel dragster (of that era) was parked on the starting line of a dragstrip, and the F40 passed it going a full 200 MPH, the top fuel dragster would catch and pass the Ferrari before the quarter mile was up. This test reminded me a lot of that demonstration.
@@yhk1977 Even at 100mph it takes 9 seconds for a quarter mile so this car would be a second ahead still and the Rimac Nevera would easily beat that as well.

To see the engineers reactions to the sub 8 sec run was amazing proud people and to allow an outsider these test runs insane especially when Matt's beating their times
Surely McMurtry and the whole team have actually produced something which is on the boundaries of the laws of physics with this thing. I could actually almost feel the speed through my phone lol. Something truly incredible here and something to be proud of!
I’ve gone 8.86 in the 1/4 mile and there are no words that can convey how brutal and mind blowing that feels. My eyes actually felt like the flattened out a bit and my vision became dark around the periphery. To go another second faster would be inconceivable. Matt, you lucky dog!
Young Swiss engineers have developed an electric car that also uses a fan system for additional downforce, but it's way smaller and not for track use, just for the acceleration. That world-redord car named "mythen" has 326HP and weighs just 140 kilos. It goes 0-100km/h in 0.956 seconds, needs only 12,3 meters of road to do that.

I am blown away by the engineering done on this car and the way this car performs. Matt Watson “ you sir have done justice with this car, by launching it better than anyone” . More episodes like this.
The performance on this car is insane. Ever since Goodwood FOS, I have always been keen to see what its performance would be really like. Thank you for really showing what it can do. Would love to see how fast it goes around a track like Silverstone, Spa, or even the all mighty Nordschliefe. Hell, since it broke the IDR's time at Goodwood, they might as well take it to Pikes Peak and beat that time.
Limited to 150mph and with full power overheating quite fast i guess it would likely get a quite disappointing time on the nordschleife not doing justice to this insane car .... with 2 tons of downforce i guess it could do nearly all the way flat out.
While Top Gear was a legendary car show with the infamous trio, I think that CarWow with Mat is coming bloody close in terms of entertainment and information. Love the content lately, keep it up!
I t was 0-100 mph in 2.6 seconds that really got me. That is genuinely hard to comprehend. The body reactions of the marshals at the Goodwood Hill Climb said it all.
Indeed! A bit of perspective: 7-8 yrs ago, the big 3 hypers getting to 100 in the Fives was truly mental. This car cut that time in half in less than a decade!
"2.2something seconds, not bad but I went faster from 0-60" "Oh yeah you got only a bit over half the power, try again" Absolutely mindblowing. What a machine.
It doesn't seem consumer ready with the clearly fragile fan system. Also if you rely on the fan for cornering and the fan fails, you're basically dead.
We focussed on the quarter mile, but if you pause at 23:23, that's an incredible 0-60. Also, it's great to see a British start-up stepping up on a global stage and pushing boundaries.
Amazing to see during the launches at Silverstone (20:21 and 23:03) that you can actually see the car squatting down under the downforce from fans. Incredible.
It looks weirdly tall, until you actually look at the numbers and realize it's 4 inches lower than a Pagani Zonda. It's just...the size of a Kei car. I love it.
It's jaw dropping, but to me, a tiny single seat road registered race car is a not really a 'hypercar' inthe true sense. The Nevera by comparison is a large flashy two seater car which is way more a road car than this is. This is technically a road car, but really , its not that at all. No concession to comfort or practicality, pure race machine. It's awesome, but this in not a road car.
Makes me so happy to see Max Chilton again. He was gone from F1 too soon. And this feels like a video that Engineering Explained needs to take a look at!
