After Love and Thunder, everyone - including yours truly - talks about Thor, Love, Hercules, Eternity, the necrosword, Valhalla, and how the movie sets up big things for the future.
But let’s bring it down back to Earth, and talk about one of the smaller scale things that the movie establishes. New Asgard.
A fishing village that blew into a viking-disneyland.
New Asgard might not seem like it, but it’s actually had some serious story potential.
One story in particular. A war between New Asgard and humanity.
That’s how we can get the MCU’s adaptation of Siege from the comics.
A story where the Thunderbolts started a war with Asgard. Which so happens at the time, on Earth.
Asgard is on Earth, Thunderbolts are getting their own movie, and there is something sinister brewing in the way the government is dealing with superhuman threats.So everything is in place for the MCU’s version of Siege.
And you guessed it, we came up with a juicy idea for how this story can play out.
So we present to you how New Asgard will go to war with the Thunderbolts.
But first, we need to quickly go over the comic book version of Siege, because we need that context.
Alright, so long story short, the government put Norman Osobrn in charge of Shield - yeah Green Goblin Norman Osborn. This was because of the aftermath of Secret Invasion, where Osborn was seen as a hero who saved the world from the Skrulls.
Osborn becoming the head of shield was a big deal, because after the events of Civil War every working superhero was registered with the government. Which put Osborn in charge of all of them.
took over Shield and was in charge of all the government's superheros.
That happened after Secret Invasion, where Osborn saved the world from the skrulls. Side note, we are getting a Secret Invasion Disney plus show very soon.
Osborn rebranded Shield into H.A.M.M.E.R.
He then got himself an iron man suit and became the Iron Patriot.
Also, Osborn was in charge of the Thunderbolts, which later became the Dark Avengers. A team of bad guys pretending to be established Avengers.
At that time, Asgard was on Earth, floating over Oklahoma.
Osborn devises a sinister plot that starts an all-out war with Asgard. This then led to many other great things, like this epic battle between Thor and the Sentry.
So that’s the basis for the story. But things will need to be heavily adjusted for the MCU.
Love and Thunder doesn’t really address how the world reacted to New Asgard.
The Asgardians showed up on Earth sometime after the snap, and for 5 years they were just a harmless fishing village in Tønsberg, Norway.
Then Valkyrie became king, and New Asgard really blew up, growing into a prospering nation.
And you just know that some humans are gonna get real paranoid about a bunch of aliens from some mystical realm becoming a global superpower.
Ok sure, New Asgard is far from being anything like that. They are more of a theme-park, they don’t come close to a nation like Wakanda.
But from a certain point of view of some baddies, New Asgard can be seen as a legitimate threat.
The Asgardians are all really powerful, they have magical hammers, rainbow bridges and flying horses.
Sure, Thor has proven time and time that he’s one of Earth’s mightiest, but humanity didn’t have the best experience with Asgardians.
Remember, Shield became paranoid about extraterrestrials after the Destroyer attacked New Mexico.
Then Loki unleashed the chitauri on New-York.
A year later, Earth was attacked again, this time by Dark Elves.
3 alien attacks within 3 years, all connected to Asgardians.
Not to mention all the other alien invasions since. So humanity might be kinda fed up with all of these E.T’s that keep showing up on their planet.
This is the reason why the temperature is pretty high right now on Earth. Ever since Civil War there has been a change in the way regular people look at super-people, especially the government.

This would be a great way to bring Amora into the MCU, I almost lost hope of her showing because of Loki season 1, but this gives me hope again aha

Let's not forget that Justin Hammer still exists in the MCU and he has the potential to play the exact same role that Norman did. From Secret Invasion, Armour Wars, and Iron Heart he can get some serious development into a big MCU player for the Thunderbolts. A lot of people probably only see him as a comic relief but his character has so much to do now that Tony Stark is gone. He could be the literal Government Kiss @$$ hero that the government wants.

Nah, never going to happen, dude! Justin Hammer will not be in the Thunderbolts and he will most likely be back in the Armor Wars series instead. Guess the Norma Osborn spot will be stolen, in a certain way, by Baron Zemo and I have a theory about thay. But it's probably too smart for Marvel, since Zemo will probably not be in the Thunderbolts movie at all 🤣
Zemo would make a good replacement for Osborn, as he has a similar reason to attack the Asgardians
Honestly, the movie you pitched sounds like a great one even if the Thunderbolts didn’t get involved. On one side you have Valkyrie and the Asgardians who has to “sell out” in order to survive. And on the other you have the warriors who think that this’ll be the end of their culture. That’a a really interesting elevator pitch for a movie tbh.

Extremely interesting idea. Based off your overall theories regarding the MCU, I have to say, it's a shame that Disney doesn't hire you & your crew for idea harvesting.

Sylvie could be the Loki in Thunderbolts allowing for her to do her own climb to hero (probably taking more than a movie... maybe a who 6-part series) and then Sylvie could work with Loki at some later point completing their relationship arc
I truly hope we get a mirrored lineup of the OG avengers lineup including
-Bullseye from DD for Hawkeye
-Abomination for Hulk
-Hercules for Thor
-John Walker for Cap
-Yelena Belova for Black Widow
-Zemo - because why not
and maybe Justin Hammer and Yellowjacket for Stark/Antman

Red Hulk could be added to this mix, as Ross could be explained as having taken the super soldier formula off-screen to become the CGIed version of William Hurt, permanently trapped in his super form.

I love Taika's Thor but damn I miss those days when Asgardians were one of the most powerful and advanced people in the MCU before Wakanda was even a thing. I expected the last movie to focus more on rebuilding that lost glory but it didn't happen. I really hope they still have future plans for Thor where maybe as Rune King he will rebuild the Asgard.
I mean, it makes sense. A powerful people with advance tech because no longer than and have to survive while all sides are attacking you.
Valkyrie was so wasted in Love & Thunder, like how is she doing as a ruler, what’s her opinion on the once great Asgard now just becoming a tourist attraction, all of this could be really interesting but she’s just kinda there the whole movie
What is their political status internationally? They are refugees in Norway because New Asgard is built on the ruins of Tonsberg whose inhabitants were anhilated when Red Skull stole from their custody the Tesseract (Time Stone). Are any survivors or descendants thereof resentful? The Asgardians should be at best residents of Norway and answer to the human monarch head of state and the human prime minister. Or given the historic connections, were they granted some autonomous status? If they get a microstate status, New Asgard could have diplomatic representation in the United Nations whose headquarters in NYC put the opportunity for interaction with two Thunderbolts, Yelena and Bucky, plus Kate Bishop, Spider-Man, and Daredevil.
As a Thor Stan, I want to see your version of the movie REAL bad.
Perfect theory. But THOR alone can take down all his enemies no matter how strong they are, unless there is another God like Hercules standing against Thor.
Please send this video to Kevin Feige and Taika Waititi, so that they might implement this idea in the Future MARVEL projects like THOR part 5.
I’d also love to see the MCU explore how the religious world has reacted to literal proof of the old gods. How do the Scandinavian’s deal with proof of their old Gods? The Egyptians?

I don’t see this happening. While it would be really cool and definitely the best possible ending for this whole “Val military” thing they’re building into the thunderbolts, it does seem a little forced. I love everything with Zemo and the thunderbolts, but the Enchantress stuff feels a tiny bit forced. I’m also expecting they will make the thunderbolts super likeable. What marvel wants is the suicide squad, and they can’t have their super likeable villain squad if they’re out here attacking Asgard. Idk, we’ll see.

yeah unfortunately I expect they'll make them 'morally grey' like the Guardians, which is not at all. James Gunn's Suicide Squad was more convincing since yeah those guys were brutal and some were complete assholes. I'd hope they'd make Thunderbolts somewhat like that. Make them brutal, ruthless. But then again they have Yelena, a very beloved character who's bubbly and wasn't much of a threat in Hawkeye, so idk probably not.
Or instead of making a suicide squad 2.0, they can straight up make the thunderbolts into villains. Should flare up the MCU after the recent shitshows they've been doing.
I think we might get some characters that we’ve been hinted at before like Goliath and Shocker

Armor Wars as well is going to play a massive role in building to the Thunderbolts. It’s going to be government based with them gaining and using Stark tech for their own means.

Summary of my Theory about secret wars: not exactly sure how kang dynasty goes, but I believe the secret wars movie will be the 1984 version. In this story kang will replace the beyonder role, not sure how he gets to that power or of that level. But basically it is like a battle like the 1984 version but multiversal with different universes fighting. And just like near the end of the ‘84 story, doom stole the beyonder power, the same will happen but it will be taking kangs power and he will instead decide to create battleworld like he did in 2015 and become god emperor doom.
(Long) Explanation: Kevin feige has always looked to the future. He always plans ahead, and I believe he is planning out what the next saga will be after the multiverse saga. He’s already announced the end of phase 6 and the multiverse saga with secret wars. There are obviously 2 versions of secret wars, 1984 and the 2015 versions. Kevin feige basically said in a interview that Jonathan Majors kang the conqueror will put this saga on his shoulders. But at the same time, it is more than likely of the introduction of dr doom is coming soon, according to leaks and of the fantastic four coming. In my opinion, if they make secret wars the 2015 version and it truly only just one part of secret wars, even if there is 2 parts, not only are they already using the grandest scale story in the comics but it would also feel rushed and they wouldn’t be able to top it and peak in 3 years in terms of scale. If kang is truly the thanos of this saga, and they do the 2015 version and kang replaces god emperor doom, either they waste doom and disappoint a lot of the fanbase, or they build up kang this entire time and switch it so doom is the secret wars main villain and it feels rushed. I believe Kevin feige is much smarter than that and is truly building what will be the most interesting and biggest saga in history. I believe secret wars will only be one part, 2 1/2 - 3 hours long, and epic. As it will be the 1984 version and not knowing the how, but kang will obtain beyonder level power and instead of one universes heroes and villains battle it out, it will be a multiverse of heroes and villains battle it out. Probably will include the spidermen, fox xmen, etc. And just like how doom took the beyonders powers in the ‘84 version, he will do the same to kang. But this time he will become god emperor doom and recreate battleworld. And that will be the next saga of the mcu, maybe either titled the “doom saga” or the “battleworld saga”. There is so much opportunity and creativity that feige can take advantage of. In the comics, there are 42 places I believe in battleworld. They probably can expand to even more places in battleworld and create new places but also use some that was in the original battleworld in the 2015 version. Now there are some questionable things about my theory for me. Hypothetically, if feige continues to have 7-10 movies and shows a year, I wonder whether or not they would decrease in quantity. Maybe they switch things up and instead of 3 phases, they do one phase and make that a saga, or go back to the infinity saga quantity and spread it to 3 phases. But I truly believe in a general sense, that the next saga will be the 2015 secret wars. Hope you enjoyed the read!

Really nice read and I like your theories. As a big fan of the 2015 secret wars (probably the best marvel comic book event of the last 20 years) I’d love having the next mcu saga being based solely on battleworld. But I just don’t see that happening because in a way all the projects would pointless since it’ll all be retconned in the end. Plus it’s kinda weird to have just 1 phase be a whole saga. My theory is the The Kang Dynasty is also a loose adaptation of time runs out, with Doom killing Kang at the end, the multiverse breaking apart because of Kang constant time meddling, and Doom creating battle world to save the multiverse and setting up secret wars

It would be cool to see Justin hammer come back in this movie. Maybe he could come back with some sort of suicide squad type deal with the government and make a bunch of tech for the group. Plus I would love to see Sam Rockwell come back and fill in for Norman osborns role in the story with his own worse version of an iron man suit
When you think of it, phase 4 is the most chaotic compared to other previous phases. Wanda controlling a town, super soldiers running rampant, two gigantic Egyptian gods fighting each other,a teenage superhero causing chaos in new Jersey, day turning into night, a Solar eclipse, giant alien god rising from the earth and coming from the sky, an octopus terrorizing new york, a female hulk walking around and spider-men fighting villains from different universes, yeah it's a lot.
Man I love New Rockstars soo much but there is just something about you and Doug man I love it.
One thing that would be cool to see in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would be the Atlanteans kicking The Raft out of their waters especially since they would likely have an axe to grind against government intervention.
If I were Atlantean I would investigate this strange structure in my waters and upon discovering it housed super powered individuals being held captive, if I wanted to wage war on the surface world I would put them in a state of chaos making them have to contend with super powered individuals running amok causing them to have to maintain a battle on two fronts.
Among those escaping would be Zemo.
Now if they do this Hercules is also on the team
All in all a pretty solid theory and build up
What if as oppose to Thaddeus Ross being the Red Hulk since he’s passed, we get Valentina Allegra de Fontaine as a Red She Hulk?!
That would be awesome and would be much more organic and respectful than recasting William Hurt, but I suspect that there would be a lot of whinging from a certain demographic of Marvel fans who are still upset about Jane Foster Thor and oppose the idea of Shuri as Black Panther, even though all three of those female characters were in the comics.
JLD would be amazing as Red She Hulk and could be a future rival for Jennifer Walters' She Hulk.
Bring back Adrian Pasdar as Colonel Glen Talbot from AOS who's Ross' right hand man as his only plausible replacement. Then he uses Rosses untimely death as a front to honor his mentor and friend by using his moniker as their banner.

I wrote a synopsis for an MCU movie that would be based on Siege, and even though you gave a theory here that was really similar to mine, I went in a different direction of the new Avengers against the Dark Avengers where there is a focus on characters and character development on Sam Wilson, Spider-Man, Yelena and Wanda Maximoff
9:37 I think you got that wrong. The first enchantress was named Amore, but the second Enchantress's first ame is Sylvie. Just like the"female Loki" in the show. I think that Sylvie, or the Enchantress, has been introduced already. Compare "Lady Loki"'s powers to Loki, and then to the Enchantress. She's got the powers of the later. Plus, in most credits apart from english, the "Lady Loki" is credited as "Sylvie". Even though the character of the show, according to Disney, is based on both, Lady Loki *and* the Enchantress.
Daniel who plays Zemo does a very good job and his character is the best villain/ antihero of the MCU.
If they’re doing The Siege, are they going to change one of the biggest things that happened to Walker in that storyline? I mean he was actually fighting against Osborn’s Thunderbolts and helping the good guys and lost an arm and a leg because of it.
He could team back up with Sam and Bucky in Cap 4 then lose his arm and leg helping them.

@@jamiesp3901 In the comics, he refused to get the fancy prosthetics stuff because he doesn’t wanna end up like a cyborg, so he got like a pretty basic prosthetic arm and just used a wheelchair to get around because he didn’t get a prosthetic for his leg. They had him become Warden of the Raft so he was watching over a lot of the prisoners, even was sort of commanding/training a kinda Thunderbolts B Team. He was still pretty badass though because he got kick some ass when the Raft got attacked later on.
They could also introduce Dario Agger (aka Minotaur) as the instigator of a war with New Asgard, that could be interesting.
Love the theory where they could go with this!

Counteroffer: what you've described is basically the New World Order plot, with Wilson-Cap on the New Asgard side. Then, Zemo is able to slip out from government and Enchantress control so a new Thunderbolts team shows up for their movie in the wake of basically all the super teams being discredited one more time.

Something I wonder is how the people of the MCU reacted to monsters and aliens being real. My point being is that whenever they get scared of that thing they can’t use the “it’s not real” anymore because they are real.

If you look at how Americans recently reacted to declassified UFO footage, it's kind of similar. In 2022, a flying spaghetti monster could appear and we'd be like, "yeah, so what does flying spaghetti monster plan to do about these gas prices?" We, just like the people in the MCU, all act like New Yorkers now. "What, you kids never seen monsters and aliens before?"

Not mentioned but relevant, in the source material, Zemo was the original leader of the Thunderbolts disguised as Citizen V. The rebranding could serve as a counter to the symbol of Steve Rodgers as Captain American while showing a “collaboration” between masked and unmasked with Walker as leading partner.
This lead opens another Osborn figure to step in as a contingency should Zemo fall short.
Just a thought.

The only good moment of the Thunderbolts in Siege was when Quicksilver said and proved to Mr. X that no matter that he knew what Maximoff was about to do he couldn't do anything to avoid it, and kicked his ass.
Since that won't happen, unless is Makkari vs Taskmaster, i don't see the point.
Kinda feel like the showing of a new Norman Osborn in freshman year could be teeing him up for Iron Patriot in Thunderbolts

i like the way you think but the reason i dont think they will bring enchantress in is because sylvie is based on her. at the time if you went to the marvel website and clicked film and went to the echantress, sylvie showed up. who knows things can change but i really like this idea of a siege

Question: do we want the MCU becoming more like The Boys or Watchmen? Or even Game of Thrones (the good parts), if we want to get into something like pre-snap Asgardian politics.
As much as I enjoy those, I also enjoy the more lighthearted, live-action cartoon aspect of them, and the distinction from more gritty superhero media.

Question since you were talking about ways to bring in Asguardian Warriors; where did all the Asguardian Warriors come from in Endgame? We saw how New Asguard was just a poor fishing village, so how come there were Asguardians in the Endgame battle??
Siege is a great read. Definitely recommend to read that comic, it's badass af.
Great idea but some will see your suggestion of Amora as the same as the Enchantress in the first suicide squad. Why not Sif instead.
Now if the word thunderbolts is now being considered a threat to Asgard surly zues's stolen thunderbolt should come into play or in question sooner or later..... cuz that was originally used against an Asgardian king Thor...

I like Seige and it's a neat idea but here's why this wont work for the MCU.
1. Wakanda Forever is a nation vs nation movie already and Seige would probably feel too similar.

5. Val could have super powers or be a vampire queen. She's the Nic Fury of the Thunderbolts and could be in Secret Invasion and Kang is pulling the strings to DIVIDE AND CONQUER. Oh Shit maybe.

Since Osbourne presumably is not in the MCU, I suspect that the Iron Patriot mantle could be taken up by the CEO of Qeng Enterprises, Mister Gryphon. This doubles as a reference to Iron Lad and Osbourne's Iron Patriot. This also fits in with the overarching Multiverse Saga well.

Honestly, Thunderbolts seems the most exciting with finally something a bit darker and serious like a team of anti-hero/morally-grey superheroes. At least far more morally grey than Guardians was. And the roster of the Thunderbolts is ripe for good character stuff, I'd love to see Olga Kurylenko and Hanah John-Kamen be able to have more room for their acting, they're wonderful.
Fury isn’t in charge of SHIELD. Even if you don’t think AoS is canon, Fury said in AoU that he’s director of no one. I however do believe that AoS is canon, and if it is, Alphonso Mackenzie is Director.
I don’t think the thunderbolts will be going against the new Asgard. I think they’ll use them to go up against the skrulls that invade earth.
I definitely think the film version should follow the comic origin instead of the era of Norman Osborn's Thunderbolts. With Norman Osborn's Thunderbolts they were chipped with bombs in their heads set to go off if they didn't comply. Sound familiar? Same M.O. as Suicide Squad. But the true origins of the Thunderbolts were a group of villains that in the absences of teams like Avengers and Fantastic Four decided to pretend to be heroes with new identities to gain the public's trust so that they could get in deep enough to get at governmental secrets.
Then the world found out about the Thunderbolts and it became a program to rehabilitate villains similar to Suicide Squad. However, Norman then played off their origins by gaining the trust of the public by putting his team strategically in place and himself to get the killshot on the Skrull Queen. This gave him the spotlight where he was able to manipulate the public to believe he and his team were misunderstood and many had been framed and to point fingers at the Avengers and SHIELD as being the institutions that were trusted for world security and how they failed to prevent the invasion.
This allowed him to evolve the Thunderbolts into the Dark Avengers a team of villains pretending to be classic Avenger members; Norman as an Iron Man type; Iron Patriot.. Bullseye as Hawkeye... Moonstone as Ms. Marvel... Daken as Wolverine... Mac Gargan/Scorpion/Venom as Black Costume Spider-Man with Ares and Sentry on the side as themselves.

I think MCU's Sylvie is some kind of variation of Enchantress, so it seems to me that we will not see Enchantress in the MCU.
