    Cole didnt get an elbow surgery. He had inflammation in his elbow and is now getting close to a return

      Thanks for watching Yolo! Glad Cole avoided it. He threw for Double-A Somerset on Sunday so he should he's on pace to return to MLB shortly.

    For all the problems teams have with pitcher injuries, they wouldn't have remotely as many problems if they started teaching pitchers to throw a knuckleball. The knuckleball is the easiest by far on your arm.

      That’s good to know. I wasn’t even aware of that!

    So now top level pitchers are not only genetic freaks, but also artificially enhanced (or at least repaired). I have nothing against repairing an elbow to have an active life, but I do see a problem with having to undergo this surgery just to face the normal rotation in MLB. There are countless RUclips channels where services to help 17 years old kids throw over 90 miles are promoted, and that's only one of the consequences of the current trend in MLB pitching. Yes, pitchers are facing a very high level of excellent hitters on a daily basis, they are required to use every resource to be able to succeed. But maybe, only maybe, MLB should explore other solutions to keep the balance, other than just encouraging throwers to try and become superhumans, there's a lot that can be done. There was a time when having artificial arteries surgically implanted in the legs was a thing in professional cycling, that practice got luckily discarded over the years. Baseball is getting closer to a point like that

    What I don't fully understand is how Shane Bieber impacts this list as mich as anybody else. Everyone else throws upper 90s with movement while Bieber hits lower 90s to mid 90s. He seems to be the lists anomalty.

      Thanks for the comment! Bieber himself said that the style of pitching has changed. He said, "Everybody's throwing as hard as they possibly can, spinning the ball as hard as they possibly can." Totally get it.

    I really miss Bieber. Then maybe we wouldn’t have to let corrasco go out every week. Soon Gavin will be back too. But I hope all pitchers can find a way to stay healthy

    Everything you said 💯. I also think travel ball which basically allow you to play year round which I think became more of a thing right around when a lot of these guys were younger contributes. Just overworked Curious to know how many of these guys did travel ball and pitched nine months outta the year instead of three since they they were like nine years old

    • @baseballyak
      @baseballyak  3 месяца назад

      Great point! There are even 6 and 7 year old travel ball teams all over the country and those teams keep on growing. Too many coaches focus on winning instead of the health of their star players, especially the pitchers.

    The only thing that could fix this is implementing a velo-cap at 90, and any pitch over 90mph would be a ball. That will never happen, so Tommy John will remain routine in the game

    • @baseballyak
      @baseballyak  3 месяца назад

      Good take Able! You are right the velo-cap will def never happen. The fastest growing segment of Tommy John surgery patients are 15-19 year olds. The coaches have pressure to win. They want their best pitchers throwing. The kids want to throw because they want to be seen by scouts to get a college scholarship. I even see it in youth club baseball. Year round throwing and constant use of the arm is prevalent for these young kids, especially if they are good.

    • @Beyondthe5thPanel
      @Beyondthe5thPanel 3 месяца назад

      I don’t think it’s a good idea to cap it at 90, but there does need to be more of an emphasis on not pitching fastball or any other type of pitch as hard as we possibly can all of the time. As was stated in the video, change ups went up by what 10 miles an hour? That’s insane for just a change up! If all these pitches are doing is creating more of a risk for Tommy John surgery, then logically pictures need to stop keeping it at such a high velocity and tone it down to using them at maybe 30 to 40% of the time. It used to be that those high-speed pitches were your end pitch.

    I had an elbow injury and I’m still trying to recover but it’s not because pitchers are throwing hard it’s because pitchers are throwing too many pitches with a certain velocity I’m now able to throw just not pitch yet

    • @baseballyak
      @baseballyak  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment and watching the video Brian. There should definitely be a proper warm up and pitch count starting at a young age for pitchers. Hope you fully recover asap.
