    I live in the PNW and have this stuff growing all over the place. I did grab some and boil it to transplant my orchid in. It wont come back from that but every year outside in summer it dries out and looks dead but when the rains come back it goes back to green again. I have noticed it doesnt grow on soils but it does love woody type material that is raised off of the soil so it doesnt sit in water. So bark on gravel, sticks on gravel and watering often will bring it back. Orchids we dont water often enough to bring it back.

      Yeah nice, I've seen it growing in the wild here before but we have very strict laws on removing anything from nature so always left it where it was.

      Same here. I observed it on my own property. I harvest it for mulch or lining pots also, It comes back.

    I am one of those many people who have had revived moss, from a dried plaque wrapped in plastic, come back to life like a Rose of Jericho. All my current Sphagnum comes from that.

    I have a whole bed of live sphagnum growing outside, awesome stuff to use when doing flower stalk cuttings, awesome for when doing nepenthe cuttings & Rotundifolia love it, I have them springing up everywhere on top of my bed of live sphagnum.

      @Eat-Me-Exotics Yeah bro it took a few years to get my bed of Sphagnum moss, but now that I have it I'm just experimenting with it on all my different carnivorous plants, potted up a few sarracenia, drosera & venus flytrap, they're doing really well in it, I just use petal grade sphagnum moss or LFS on all my plants anyway, so using live sphagnum is probably the cream of the crop for your plants.

    Love your video's, but they would benefit from a lapel microphone, especially for the tripod parts

    Can I use high tds water(water of our tubewell in Bangladesh and it's approximately 700feet deep,tds is 500 ppm+)?If can't then what is the maximum tds water which can be used?(Sorry for bad English 🥲)

      500ppm would definitely be too high, sphagnum moss needs very clean water I would go above 50ppm

    Some of my sphagnum comes back to life and some gets lots of algae, what should i do?

    • @Eat-Me-Exotics
      @Eat-Me-Exotics  5 месяцев назад +1

      Algae is tricky cos if anything that kills the algae will kill the sphagnum, keep it alittle drier and add some more airflow to try keep it down.

      @@Eat-Me-Exotics how do o tell the difference from new growth vs algae cuz i cant tell the difference

    • @Eat-Me-Exotics
      @Eat-Me-Exotics  2 месяца назад

      @mr.kibbles5659 it's hard to explain but algae growing on moss is usually darker and the "petals" are usually abit limp, fresh live moss growth will be perkier and lighter colour.
