You should absolutely keep Relient K in your repertoire. I went back and listened to that portion 5 or 6 times before finishing the rest of the song. So accurate, yet subtle enough that it wasn't over-the-top. Well done.
Would love to see some relient k covers! Definitely one of my favorites. Dunno why but I thought "country cover" and my first thought was the song "Therapy" from Forget And Not Slow Down.
Can we just appreciate the fact that the entire instrumental writing, production, mixing, and vocal performance changed with each band change???? Mate there’s so much background work that’s clearly gone into this beyond the drumming in the foreground - this is incredible!
Reliant K. By far. I’ve listened to them since grade school, and hearing that little section lit me up like a candle. Couldn’t have wiped the smile off my face, even if I tried (or wanted) to. One of my favorite songs with paired with many of my favorite bands would’ve been a banger no matter what, but that little tidbit made it for me. Like so many people are saying, please PLEASE do some covers in their style. Would make my day (not that your videos don’t already lol)
Am I the only one who thinks yellow card might have one of the most underrated drummers? That dude was always going hard and really gave them extra staying power
The Yellowcard and Relient K sections had me grinning ear to ear -- absolutely nailed it. The others were amazing, too, but I'm more familiar with those two bands and caught on right away. Love your videos! Keep it up!
Fantastic job! I love that you included Dave Douglas from Relient K. One of the more underrated drummers of our youth. I also loved how you mimicked his performance in “I So Hate Consequences.” Also great band choice given Matt Thiessen’s role in creating the original “Fireflies” by Owl City.
Fun fact, Matt Thiessen produced the original Fireflies song with Owl City, and wrote on a bunch of his early stuff :D And yes, pleeeeeeeease drop some "If Relient K covered..." Or do some other arrangements of Relient K songs! (If Blink-182 covered Pressing On?)
Another absolute banger. Definitely really enjoyed the Aaron Gillespie portion. As I saw the mic, I figured it was him. Thanks for the stellar content!
I think my favorite part about this one was realizing just how much more I notice drums in songs by some of my favorite bands then I realized. Being able to recognize the Relient K, Underoath, and Josh Dun arrangements was pretty cool.
A rk reference!!! Favorite band of all time, is the band that got me started on guitar. Just saw them on their un yeah tour. So glad to see it when they get recognition.
Dave Douglas. Met this guy when RK played in Jacksonville, FL years ago. I'm also a drummer and he was so nice when I asked him 20 questions about his kit. Great video man!
The arrangements/vocals all give them away. Intro fill for Fall Out Boy, palm muted rhythm for Yellowcard, synth and bass for The Killers, breakdown for underoath… only one where I think I could have genuinely ID’d the drummer’s style without the references was Travis
Love it! Relient K was sooo good. Would like to see more in the style of them and more of that ccm mix up. It could use the shake up! Keep up the good work buddy.
As someone who grew up listening to all these bands, I think you've really managed to capture the essence of each one's style! It was so immediately recognizable!!! RelientK and Yellowcard were definitely my favourites! Love to see more of this stuff from you!
All I could think was "That sounds like a Matt Thiessen arrangement" and then when you dropped Dave Douglas my jaw dropped and stayed there for the rest of the video. I love all of your stuff man, but this hit me in a really special nostalgic way. I saw Relient K play at Darian Lake in 2002 and my dad whipped out his binoculars so I could watch Dave on the drums...that cemented me as pop punk kid for life. Again, absolutely obsessed with this one Alex!!
I haven't thought about Relient K in at least a decade, going through the hits again. That arrangement felt so familiar but I never would've guessed RK given a thousand options.
Relient K has one of the most memorable concerts! They have a lot of fun. I can still vividly picture Matt walking out on stage with a toy Keytar to open with "In Love with the 80s"
I couldn't stop laughing and smiling this whole time. Not only could I guess most of the bands but I knew the exact track that you pulled a majority of the sound from (Yellowcard especially). LOVE that you included Relient K too, that's my most listened band my whole life by a wide margin.
I loved this!! 1. Iconic song that I loved when I was younger and haven’t heard for ages. Yum! 2. Loved the format/concept of this video-it was fun to see you play different flavors/personalities 3. The design element of this video really shone through for me-the font/band logo combo was great plus the transitions between sections was cool. What a level up! So awesome!
Dude!! That was awesome!! I didn’t expect Reliant K or TØP!! Keep it up! Also you nailed the vocals. And guitar especially with Yellowcard. I knew who it was immediately.
Immediately recognized quite a few, but *especially* Aaron, and Dave! Aaron was sooo spot on, and I was so pleasantly surprised to see Relient K included!! 🖤
At first I was impressed that I was able to guess most of these, but then realized I was only able to do so because of how brilliant of a songwriter and musician you are. This was a fun one!
I love that you not only got the sound and style of the drummers, but also their mannerisms. The way you played the Josh Dun section was so physically distinctive that I could have recognized it without even hearing it. He has a very particular set of mannerisms when he's playing and it stood out right away

Perfect Relient K arrangement with all those syncopated beats....and UnderOath just hit the spot! Thanks for bringing my back to the early 2000s. What a time.

This song slaps! I hope you end up releasing it on streaming platforms, I'm definitely going to be listening to it on repeat for the next week! Really enjoyed yellow card, Travis modern, and underoath! But I can hear each one of the bands and what you were doing and that's so neat! Reliant K and Killers were good additions!
Amazingly great work. Love the phaser sounds on the hi hat for the blink Travis Barker sound. Not sure exactly what effect it was. I loved all of the different drummers. So good.
Dude. This was the most entertaining and interactive drum video I’ve watched. I was literally sitting on my couch getting excited trying to figure out the drummers before the names popped up. Amazing job man!
You missed the “modern” travis’ double crash with both sticks on the same cymbal haha good stuff! Always amazed at your ability to play a variety of instruments so WELL! Kudos 👍🏻
I find it kinda ironic that for the Relient K section you had Dave singing the backing vocals while in the original song Matt Thiessen of Relient K does the backing vocals (which I'm sure you already knew). Great video though, I was able to guess quite a few of these so you did it really well!
I literally laughed out loud at the Aaron Gillespie one. I love all your stuff man, you’re really talented and I love the mashups between genres. Keep ‘em coming!

Would love to see some relient k covers! Definitely one of my favorites. Dunno why but I thought "country cover" and my first thought was the song "Therapy" from Forget And Not Slow Down.
RK was also my favorite section. Countrifying one of their songs seems so fitting to me, since they have some stuff that leans alt-country!
@@Sgtcat190 I would actually love to hear a Relient K-styled version of "Something Like That" by Tim McGraw.
Was happy to see Relient K represented and it’s especially fitting as Matt Thiessen provided backing vocals on Fireflies
😯 I never knew that! Thanks
Dang that’s cool didn’t know that.
whattt? I didn't know that!
Matt co-wrote is as well!
He provided vocals, co-wrote it, and co-produced it! I think he produced the whole album.
The fact that Travis got 2/8 slots is an accurate representation of how influential he has been/is as a drummer.
📠
I'm probably just reading too much into it, but I feel like Alex can't contain his smiles as much when he's playing like Travis.
Yeah, I think Alex might just be a big fan. Considering the amount of "Blink 182 versions" of songs and stuff
FACTS!!!
Adam Young himself was a fan of Blink-182 that he got Mark Hoppus on his song Dementia
Can we just appreciate the fact that the entire instrumental writing, production, mixing, and vocal performance changed with each band change???? Mate there’s so much background work that’s clearly gone into this beyond the drumming in the foreground - this is incredible!
100%
We need a Relient K cover! Loved the piano, drums and guitar parts for Dave Douglas. Totally wasn’t expecting that
Alex, hear the guys. We would love that.

It works so well because Matt Thiessen was a coproducer on ocean eyes.
Am I the only one who thinks yellow card might have one of the most underrated drummers? That dude was always going hard and really gave them extra staying power
YC got dramatically worse without him in the band. He’s absolutely intrinsic to their classic sound
Lp3 is an amazing dude. When he dropped off, Yellowcard went to absolute hell.
Yeah that guy was insane. They had cool guitars and stuff but to me the heart of yellowcard was the voice, violin and drums
LP3 was insane! Totally agree that the band lost some quality when he left
Yeah he was pretty important to the band and their vibe. They fell off big time when he moved on.

Youth kid catnip. Can't get enough
Old school UO for sure!

It always makes me so happy when people know who Relient K is.
Another absolute banger. Definitely really enjoyed the Aaron Gillespie portion. As I saw the mic, I figured it was him. Thanks for the stellar content!
came to say this. The Aaron Gillespie part was my favorite. I immediately started banging my head to that. I loved that groove!
I agree with everyone else: MORE RELIENT K! But the Aaron Gillespie part was my favorite. Super cool!

The synth at 2:08 - 2:29 was absolutely DIVINE
Very Killers
The palm-mutes on the guitar gave Yellowcard away, sounded just like OceanAve.

dude that yellowcard drumming was spot on if so many of us knew it instantly, that was so great
Same with deep throating the mic gave away Aaron Gillespie. 😂
@@samig9032 also him singing as the drummer gave away underoath

That was great! Longineu Parsons III is easily my favorite drummer of all time! Biggest influence on my own drumming next to Travis and Aaron.

Owl City, Underoath, & Relient K! Your Christian library is well above the RUclips standard of 90s/2000s shout outs!

@Andrew Emmons He did an AVA -inspired cover of "Ocean Avenue" a while back and it would be incredible to see "Fireflies" get a similar treatment.
Relient K!!!!!!!!! Man, they’ve been my favorite band for like 20 years now. We just saw them in Chicago. SUCH AN ENERGETIC SHOW.

this is great. all those beats sound like those guyses styles. and it still feels like just 1 song.
It’s unfair that he’s insanely talented at every instrument and can sing. What a legend
This was sick! LOVE that hybrid kit 😍
The Aaron Gillespie and Relient K bits were so perfect. Recognized them both right away.
That was so enjoyable!! And I loved the Ronny Vanucci section!!
These covers rip dude. And it's funny how recognizable Aaron is. Immediately you know.
It’s amazing how fucking amazingly you nailed the feel of all of these different groups/drummers
How long do you have to listen to a drummer to prep for something like this or does it come pretty quickly from knowing the bands and being a drummer?

Dude you are amazing. As a metal and pop punk fan I can tell you the Underoath and Yellowcard parts were spot on man. Awesome
That was awesome! I loved all the different styles, and you nailed the fills throughout the song.
Duuuude this was so much fun to watch. You used all my favorite pop-punk drummers! I would love to see more multi-drummer covers like this.
