  • This week it is time for something completely different! As we pit the bone stock Toyota Yaris GR against a mildly tuned Ford Focus RS (making 420bhp) in the only way we know how... With skids and our patented Fun-O-Meter!

      In the meantime i had a second gasket failure on a stock engine in my RS. Fixed now with an aftermarket racing gasket and some brace for cylinder heads to reduce flex. • @f00lxpl
      @f00lxpl 3 года назад +3

      @@franciscocabrerabrito5945 Yaris is significantly better performance wise. It outhandles the RS in every possible way except the sound of course. weight is everything. RS is just way too heavy and you will feel it driving both back to back. I was kind of sorry to admit it at first as I always was a Ford fanboy hah.
      RS is better as a daily, more practical, better during winter and so...
      Speaking about price, if you just look at performance itself and general feeling of driving the yaris - yes it is worth it. But if someone can't accept a yaris for that much I will also understand it, it has many minor drawbacks too.

I also find myself driving the RS more aggressively trying to have the same feeling, still nothing. I think RS needs very aggressive map to give you similar feeling.

      Uf thats a though one ... i can just tell you that i sold my M2Competition and ordered the Yaris, but i also have another RWD car ... i put it this way, the Yaris is something special but probably only fun at the limits as it is more focused than a focus ;) it is definitely a back to the 90’s car and gives you that special raw “feeling” (M2 with DKG feels like a playstation compared to the yaris) ... and the engine is powerful don’t worry about the engine! If you want one, you have to be quick as they are sold out soon. And get the track pack haha, i have to wait a couple of month for mine and it’s painful hahaha

  • @TiyamatFTL

    Great video, but I have a Question about the Yaris
    Do you ever get the feeling, that when countersteering a little bit you just loose all steering weight,
    and when you turn the wheel back the weight only comes back when you reach the position of the wheel before you corrected oversteer?
    For me it feels like the steering wheel is suddenly hitting a wall of "force" after not having any, but this only happens on small (quick) oversteer corrections,
    when trailbraking in a corner a bit for example
    I don't know if i should be concerned or not, this happens very rarely and doesn't feel dangerous, but it's slightly annoying
    Love the video btw. have only driven the Yaris but would love to drive the Focus some day, both are awesome hot hatches!

    • @mitevm
      @mitevm Год назад +1

      It happens for me as well but only when doing silly fast and stupid things. Driving clean I haven't experienced it. First time I thought I was about to break the steering column when that sudden wall of force feedback appeared on quick corrections. And my car is 100% stock.

    • @freshness7114
      @freshness7114 Год назад

      Yes, I’ve been asking around about it on some forums as well and I finally found someone that understands me. When u give it the flick and it goes sideways, the steering becomes light and then suddenly comes back to you and if you don’t expect it the car can snap back pretty hard which is fun but can be a bit uneasy sometimes. Am I describing it similar to your situation?

    • @freshness7114
      @freshness7114 Год назад

      @@mitevm I totally feel you. I have similar issue, when car slightly oversteers the steering of wheel lightens significantly and then suddenly comes back to you causing sometimes a hard snap correction (the car centers well but it can be quite sudden and rough if you don’t expect it). I feel it has something to do with electric steering… wish it had good old hydraulic :( one of the only weak points of this car.

    • @mitevm
      @mitevm Год назад

      @@freshness7114 Do you still experience this? I destroyed the stock tyres and bought semi slicks that are also gone but haven't experienced it since my very first couple of race drives. I also drove another GR Yaris with camber bolts, and caster bushings and it was way way better than stock. The season ended so I am just dailying the car with winters for now.

    • @freshness7114
      @freshness7114 Год назад

      @@mitevm I got the car early autumn (still bone stock), been to a track day and been driving it spirited it during winter. i haven't driven it much since december but going to do a second track day soon and let you know how it feels. from what i read on the forums the car definitely benefits from increased caster, engine torque arm inserts, and camber bolts (since stock is non-adjustable) - all very minor mods but seems like they make a big difference. you're confirming exactly what i read before so i will defenitely look to modify these soon, thanks! many people try to first give it more power but i think suspension is one of the first mods anyone should do (especially if you track it). btw don't you think semi-slicks are absolute overkill for this car? unless you start adding more power, the car grips crazy already and the OEM ps4s seem perfect for it. i can't imagine how you managed to shred the semi slicks xD
