Yeah because I was thinking after the update it would be a turning point but then I found out that I’m still headhshotting and getting headshotted all the same there’s only been a few times where I actually walk away with 2 health left after being hit with 198

One big tip for fighting Zarya as Rein is using charge to bait out a bubble, if you pin a zarya and she has the bubble just cancel the charge.
Similarly, you can use fire strikes *above* zarya to bait her into wasting a bubble with no charge. Also monkey is a way better counter to zarya anyway but harder to pull off if you’re in an elo that doesn’t know how to dive

@@4070super Reinhardt can beat those characters if you know when to use your abilities. Try to bait out Fortify or Nemesis form then go nuts when they run out. If they are being healed, aim your fire strikes at the healers and not the tank
@@RoseGoldKR I love baiting Zaryas to throw away bubbles with Fire strikes, and I honestly wouldn’t go monkey into Zarya, Her bubbles making diving squishes such a pain.

In my experience, bastion is good against zarya to break the bubbles. Big charge doesn't matter if she's dead. It's pretty hard to get into a position as bastion where you can shoot zarya safely tho
Same with rat! Zaryas tend to get confident when they have high charge. Spam em and they're dead and that charge is nothing 😌
Problem this doesn't work in higher ranks especially bastion as good zaryas play cover and have really good positioning not to mention they will be tracking bastion sentry form
Only works if the zarya stand infront of you like an afk player , a maxed zarya will just spam her right click while taking side covers ,those right clicks deals higher dmg than pharah and junkrat primary fire.
@@ChimpRevolution true yeah, I no longer follow the advice of thos comment, I've played a lot of tank recently and when I play zar, my #1 oppositions are longer ranged heroes like ashe or soldier 58 that are elusive and can deal high damage at a range. Bastions usually just feed me

He's pretty good honestly. Petal is still buggy on obstacles but he can pull(petal or grip) ppl out of Orisa ult, Zarya ult, Mei ult. You can also block doors. I've used tree to block various abilities too. He's just more centered around planning and positioning than ppl are used to.

Counterpoint. If you pop the bubbles, she's basically just a squishy, and the high damage projectile characters are usually out of her range.

The beam definitely won't hit you if you're positioning properly on mid-to-long range characters, but the mortars might on certain maps.

It's good and all, but I imagine what's happening in the average teammate's head: _"Oh, look, Zarya bubbled up! It's a perfect opportunity to use all my skills and aim her while the bubble lasts!"._

I’d also recommend Bastion for dps. He melts through her bubbles almost instantly
Definitely situational depending on what tank you’re playing with though. Zarya can easily kill Bastion if she has a pocket so you’ll need help most of the time.
Rein-Bastion is really good to deal with her

Before the HP boost, Hanzo was a great counter against Zarya if you could consistently land headshots on her, doesn't matter if she's charged, 2 arrows to the head would be enough to kill her or gravely wound her to the point of forcing her to retreat.
Another tank counter for zarya is both: Dva and Ramattra, Dva's Rapid fire can destroy zaryas bubble and kill zarya before she can destroy her meka, although it kinda depends on range so if far range, i kinda recommend saving up ur rockets to destroy and deal dmg to zarya's first bubble, the second one she probably has maximum healing from her team, so focus more on shielding from other dmg dealers on her team whilst urs is attacking the zarya,
Ramattra is the same as Reinhardt, his rapid fire and long range can counter zaryas mid-range laser, if up-close, try changing to nemesis form to break her shield quick, if shes dealing alot of dmg, block her laser and hold it till ur healers recover you near full health, keep holding block till she needs to reload, then go and wallop her, if nemesis form runs out, put up a shield immediately infront of you and back off and shoot her whilst backing off away from her till ur nemesis form is reusable.
Honorable mention: Soldier: 76, Zaryas bubble can be destroyed quickly by rapid fire, a hit scan like 76 can destroy her bubble and deal massive dmg to her, i recommend getting a shield infront of you before tactical vision.

As a zarya main for 4 years. I have to put bastion in this list too
Her bubble have their own health. Just wait she use her first bubble. Then spray all you have to her. Even she use her seconds bubble, she won't stand a change. The bubble will break really fast and the cool down can't catch up with it.
If your tank and support know how to help you with that 😂 or else you just another energy battery charge for her
That Rein tip was very useful. I haven't seen Reins use their shield in such a pushy, offensive way, I like it. :)
I feel like winton is also a good match up against zarya. His primary shoots through her bubble. And he bubble if he’s stuck in grav.
About dps, burst damage characters like bastion also works since you can kill zarya the second she is out of bubbles or low health and only has 1 bubble (bastion can break one bubble and eat nearly half of her hp in thrret form)
Also for support I suggest ana or kiriko too since kiriko's suzu and insane healing will help with the ult and ana (if you can) could catch her off guard and sleep her which would be a free kill if she doesn't have any support with her

Funnily enough, the best tip i can say from experience against zarya, is just... focus fire, even as a junkrat main, stay just outside of beam, and focus on hitting her with your team, 100 charge doesnt matter if she falls over...
Spam is bad as it is hard to coordinate, but if you can force her to bubble an ally and then turn to her both her bubbles will be down, becomes hard to do when other factors are in play though, like a widow picking off people tryna focus her...
I know its maybe weird but Bastion is good too, it forced her to use her bubble fast enough to not have any left. She will be charge to 100 but with no bubble to sustain Bastion dps
while mid range hits cans can do well against zarya herself, other dps can dive extremely easily with a good zarya bubble. Also, lucio is a much better counter into zarya being able to speed your team away from her as she's relatively close range as well as being able to use beat and Amp in grav.

Now for damage I do recommend Bastian because he is great for getting rid of zarya‘s bubble and you and your teammates can also focus on her because when you’re in it form, it will get rid of it quicker

Everytime I get caught in a grav with lifeweaver and put the lift under me it never goes off!
If the zarya is smart she will grav you slightly off ground to keep your feet from touching!

Using's Rein's charge to isolate the enemy tank away from their team and into yours works really well too. Push them into your DPS then jump her before she can escape or get saved by the enemy support. I play with a friend so we plan this out but I have done it in solo as well.
Best DPS counter for Zarya IMO is bastion. Soon as you see her bubble go up go into turret form and lay her out
This works in bad lobbies but once you go against good teams the supports and Zarya won’t make it that easy.
This is also the reason Zarya is good in lower ranks because people at that level always fire first and go for damage instead of strategy haha

I’m low enough that my support rarely know what heals are for in the game. So I rarely get to play zar even tho she’s fun to play

There's also the crazy sym buff that lets her feed off both her bubbles and shield health, and she can TP out of grav.

As a doom main I gotta say doom is a great counter to zarya. Zarya doesn't have alot of range so when u knock her back 10 feet with a punch she gets out if range to attack and even if she's bubbled dooms punch doesn't do enough damage to give her significant bubble charge😃
“Don’t play junkrat” I’ll take that as a challenge
Pharah is a good matchup because she literally just flies past Zar to go kill their backline. At that point they either have to peel, losing map control and momentum, or hope someone else takes care of it and keep fighting. Even if you don't kill anyone during this, aggressing the supports means they are fighting you and not keeping Zar up which allows the team to melt her.
she charges zar like crazy though. so while you push past her she kills your entire team 😐
I’ve had a lot of success using Torbjorn against Zarya. While you’d think he’d be bad since his turret will feed her bubble indiscriminately, a smart Torb player will place it at range or at off-angles where it’s difficult for her to deal with in prolonged fights. Torb’s biggest weakness is his massive headshot hitbox which Zarya can’t even take advantage of, and while using Overload he has enough speed, health, and dps to kill or at least severely maim Zarya through even both of her bubbles in a single fight.

Best dps counter is bastion, can beam through both bubbles in turret mode and then can beam her like normal
My DPS pick is either Bastion or Reaper. She can't exactly be a nuisance if she's dead. They both do a great job of just eating her shields and killing her rather quickly even if she's full power.
Note that this just a tank perspective and not a team perspective where ur dps can go junk or bastion
Bastion is also a good pick because if you see her use her second bubble just go and shred her
funnily enough Ramattra is a great counter to her despite being a projectile character
Zarya not having much in the way of abilities means she has to focus on positioning and movement alot more than other characters, if you can slow her down and get her health low from a range and bait out her bubble uses while closing the distance to finish her with your punchs or dive past her and focus the support/dps that usually works for me

Honestly bastion is good as it burns through both cooldowns leaving her Poe to attack from everyone it doesn’t matter if she’s full charged if her health less than half
Life weavers primary is actually perfect for against zar because you don't spam that much with it in chokes and normally use it to finish kills and it has the highest shield break /bubble DMG in the game so you can burst down them easier
Don’t forget that reins charge lasts significantly longer than bubble so when I see a zar pops bubble I wait half a second before committing to the charge so her bubble wares off and your able to take her down to 250. If you do this mid fight the zar will most likely only I one bubble which you just waisted almost always eliminating the zar Warner in metal and di ranks where people still play lifeweaver it’s harder to pull off
Bastion is the best zarya counter for DPS, his turret form can shred her bubble and her before he tranforms back
I’ve found that bastion is pretty good as well for blasting through the bubbles at range

Hot take... symmetra is a counter to her as long as you have the power of sashaying 💅🏽
Though this option is risky, use bastion because reconfiguration form deals so much dps in destroys both of her bubbles in seconds and just melt her health, ive killed alot of zaryas in the past using bastion, also for people who wanna do this, please train your aim first atleast get 45% aim

@@kingol4801 i like to be able to leave spawn without getting domed. when there were two tanks long range widow was fine. but without another character to keep her at bay she had free reign and could solo dominate a lobby. so yes. i will complain about snipers
Bastion is insane counter if she has one bubble left and is on an open space you just mow her down.
Use Lifeweavers tree direktly in her ult and watch everyone in it fly miles 😂😂😂

Bap is good against zar as support as well, a well timed / well placed immortality field goes a long way
I had a Mauga on my team once who kept shooting Zarya bubble and getting everyone else on the team killed, then at the end of the game they complained that their whole team was dead- so i tried to explain to them that shooting the Zarya bubble is killing us and he legit told me "No because she is dead if you shoot her bubble"
You say, don't use Junkrat, but when her bubbles are on cooldown, she gets WRECKED.
a high rank zar will delete you and cycle bubbles.
Don't forget that sombra can hack zarya's shield and mow her down with one full clip from sombra.

You can also "swallow" zariyas ult with lifeweavers ult. Just like meis ult as well. Pretty handy, wifeleaver
I stop shooting as Junk if shes got her bubble, meanwhile the bastion decides its ok to just go turret form and charge her up and complain hes dying super fast to her shortly after
When I play Zarya I LOVE when there's a Zenyatta on the enemy team. For some reason they never stop shooting at you even when you very obviously have bubble up. It's not a lot of charge, but it's practically guaranteed

Basically use a zen for discords, ryn for cover and crowd control, and maybe kirko for the cleanse
no? zen is useless against her, kiriko's cleanse doesn't help much aside from grav
Junkrat can be good against Zarya players , they usually want to get into traps so people shoot at them , but if you ignore them and shoot at the other players , Zarya just ends up using bubble and gets close to no charge , while you get ult relatively fast and by the time Zarya gets another bubble , you can erase her team with the bombs and get an ult for when they regroup and try to attack.
I use Bastion to insta shred her bubbles and then her with my team lol
Bastion is also pretty solid sense if you get a good sight you can deplete the shield real quick

Id argue that generally in to zar rein is bad cause zar can and will just walk past him and rein doesn't have the cyclical pressure to force bubbles other tanks have
This, plus other players target his shield anyway. In a 1v1, maybe but most likely, rein gets obliterated
Mei is also a decent counter for Zarya. Cutting her off from her team when she bubbles and walks forward can help burn her down and possibly get a quick elim, and you can use your ice wall in front of you if you get caught in grav. It sounds counterintuitive, but most people also go Bastion to counter Zarya. In Tank mode you can break her bubble quickly without giving her too much charge, and then you can burn her down quickly.
Echo Wifeleaver and Pharah are listed as hard/ability counters on the OW2 Heroes Companion app. I can’t exactly explain the two DPS picks but Wifeleaver grippy grip

Easy way to counter Zarya: Bastion and Symm.
Bastion does heavy sustain fire while Symm does too but has to ramp up the damage first.
Bastion works really well too sometimes
As hog I just bait her bubble with melee and hook combo her after. She’ll bubble again, I heal in that time, and finish her off when bubble is down.
I feel like bastion is also a good counter because he just melts Zaryas bubbles with his turret form
Zarya will melt Bastion before Bastion can melt those bubbles. The amount of charge you get from the firing plus her having 2 bubbles makes it a difficult fight for bastion
@@HatsunPidgeonnot if bastion has high ground or is far enough away from zarya. Helps if the tank on bastions team is distracting her
@SauceStrider this is a 1v1 scenario not counting distractions. If anyone has high ground on zarya even junkrat can be a counter. If we aren't talking variables to put her at a disadvantage then Bastion wouldn't be a good counter for Zarya. Besides Bastions optimal range is within her Lasers range to begin with
@HatsunPidgeon any good bastion should not be that close to zarya, especially not when she has bubbles. Plus his tank form dps is still higher than zaryas assuming she wasn't already at full charge once they start fighting, but like you said thats also conditional
You can also use bastion to kill her, just rip her buybble off and live or trade either way its worth the trade to help your team with the objective
Junkerqueen is also good at baiting out bubbles with carnage or clearing bleed. It requires your team to follow up on the bait
