Always appreciate your videos. Love the looks of the Northwest Ranger, almost landed one on ebay right after it went out of production but was out bid. Much props, after all these years still no pop up ads!...
This is a great field knife that has served me well on various outings, and I have gifted to others as also. And I do recall that SRK review from many years ago. I wanna say it was someone by the name of Diaz that sent it to the Project for review.
Solid review, thanks. I own one, and I quite like it. I've taken it through its paces in quite extreme bushcraft and survival scenarios, such as processing game, chopping kindling with a mallet, and using it on spark rods, and it hasn't disappointed me. Personally, I appreciate the grip, as it fits comfortably in my hand. I'm 6ft tall, so maybe I have small hands, but I don't feel the grip should be any longer. I do agree that the cord-cutting groove is pointless and almost impossible to use. Anyway, thanks for the review, really good!
Hey you're back! You are one of the first guys that got me into my Knife addiction years ago, so thanks lol, I miss alot of the classic blades from Sog and Cold Steel. Sog needs a Pillar XL or at least a Large. They need to bring back the Desert Dagger 🗡 Cold Steel needs to bring back the Peacekeeper dagger and have more midrange steel options in everything. Anyway, good to see a video from you. Oh yeah and don't you think Gerber needs to give the Mark II a long overdue upgrade??. Perhaps a full or through Tang and better handle material.
Love SOG, many years now thanks to TNP. Yeah, still kicking myself for not picking up the NW Ranger when it was on the shelves. I remember having one in my hand several times but never made it to check out. GOOD LUCK FINDING ONE NOW FOR LESS THAN YOUR FIRST BORN! Much like the Benchmade LFK, these seem to have become as rare and coveted as Willey's Golden Ticket, commanding a sold out TNP exclusive premium on the resale market. I keep looking, and one day I'll put one in the collection.
The SRK is currently being produced in SK-5 ,San Mai and CPM 3V......the CPM 3V version now comes in 4 Handle & sheath colors...black, orange, Olive and flat earth
Nutn, bought this off your recommendation. Blade wouldn't hardly cut butter out of the package. A little sharpening later and its good to go. Other than that, seems like a great knife to put in my kit and forget about it. What are your thoughts on the Esee knives 4P?
The 7Cr17 on this is more corrosion resistant than 8CR. That 17 number means higher chromium. This is the same steel Spyderco uses in their budget kitchen knives.
def got a new sub outta me!! really dig your style and flow . . . sog does make some awesome fixed blades but man im scared to buy a folder from them lolol although the cheap sog flare at wally world wouldnt be bad if the fixed the cons and did a better lock system instead of the goofy button at the other end of the handle.
I have almost no use for fixed blades under 6". Usually they'll be bigger still. It's never a problem when a blade is longer than you need, but shorter than you need definitely is.
I had a field pup 2 for years, went with mora options for saved weight and cost, and then now discontinued ontario sp2 various options for larger blade. Crazy how we are going backward in knife value and materials for the lower 60% of knives and the high end wonder steels are $$$$
Nutn love the knife reviews. In my free time I go through your excellent knife playlists and listen to them mainly as a podcast but also love seeing the cool outdoors backdrops and gear on the table top. Would love to see more Microtech, Protech, Mora, Spyderco and Victorinox Edit - Please get your bit cartel site working again for patches, apparel, and hopefully a TNP edition Spydie or Essee. Another TNP MT would be so sick Cheers!
I know, right? I’ve never noticed this knife channel before, so I thought I’d try it… bad idea! Nobody who is anybody is even interested in SOG. I think it was in the late 1990’s that I last bought one. Their quality is no better than Gerber, Schrade, and MTech. This poor guy’s channel will never grow if this is the quality he promotes. I feel sorry for the guy. He should at very least promote brands like ESEE and Tops. Then move up the ladder.
there is no perfect knife so having two or three to cover what you may need is good . I have many and only one all around , the Benchmade auto open . My big knife is the Kershaw 18" camp knife . My dress knife is a Gerber flat fold tanto blade and my daily carry is the small Kershaw spring loaded . But by far the best knife I have is the one I made from a truck spring , fixed blade elk horn and aluminum and brass guard and pommel 5" blade full tang . 3 level heat treat . I have sharpened it 3 times since 1978 and only a light touch up then and yes I use it to clean animals deer squirrel . But never as a axe it's a knife . Great review you have a blessed one .
S.O.G. = Seriously Overpriced Garbage🤣 Seriously, in today's knife market there's a million different options and a lot of less inexpensive knife brands that still offer you quality products. That being said, why would you choose a SOG knife🤔
Had my SOG field knife for 5 years. No issues, stays sharp, good all around tool.
Love the knife reviews. Thanks Nutn’ can’t get enough.
Always appreciate your videos. Love the looks of the Northwest Ranger, almost landed one on ebay right after it went out of production but was out bid.

just buy premium and there's no ads at all
Thanks Nutn'. I'm happy with my little 'ol SOG Seal Pups 👍
Love your no nonsense knife (and watch) reviews. Patiently awaiting your Snowspeeder review...

TY Nutn ! And I flipped open my bowie like the one on screen just yesterday. Love that knife.
A NW Ranger rides in my day hike pack, always love it. Thanks for all of the videos Nutn!
You do the best review of knives.

Northwest ranger looks so nice, wish they didnt discontinue
The OG is back! Miss the KRVs!

Just bought the Cold Steel OSI and mini Pendelton for a hunting pair. Thanks Nutn.
The field knife is a real nice looking design. They released an OD green handle and black stonewashed blade version more recently too.
Love my 2 field pups. They are really old, with the original leather sheaths, not the ones the more recent iterations have. AuS 8 for sure.
Fix blades: my Cold Steel Tanto San Mai III. Been collecting Russian Kyzler daggars, Solegen Germany skinner, and buck style knives with horn handles.
That new demko fixed looking very reminiscent of that nw ranger!!! 👌🏽
Just picked up a SOG field knife from tractor supply for 14.99 and ooh momma it’s a lotta bang for your buck
That "Town Creep" knife is really something. Might have to pick me up one if the creep ever gets off probation. :)
Nutn, you got any cool kitchen knives?
Very nice blades! Always love the snow speeder!!! Im happy with my seal pup elite! Though they have alot of good ones!
Some very nice SOGs. I'm not familiar with all of those. I've always liked the Pentagon and the desert dagger
Still love (most of) the SOGs
What is the top camo folder?

Don’t like kraton, they degrades. Good Rubber: Resiprene-c/Forprene/Santoprene/Hytrel Etc.

Jimping? Nutnfancy LIKEY!! *Review Complete*
Great knife, I've got two....

Just when you think you have a sizable knife collection and Nutn comes on YT and shows “here’s my 30 favorite blades from X company…”
i got one im pickin up from TSC today. did sog disc the field knife? i kinda think so which is a shame its a great looking knife at a wonderful price
Add to cart. Thanks
Please review the Demko AD20.5
I have the field knife and the bigger instinct. Good knives. Honestly I just clicked on this video to figure out your acronyms.

You forgot the Gov-Tac! I have a brand new one in my collection still! The field pup had a great thumb ramp and jimping.
Great video!
SOG: OPS, Force, Tigershark 2, Recon Bowie 2, Demo 2.
I bought this on an impulse at my local Tractor Supply. For $20 you really can't beat it. But, I still like the handle on my RAT 5 better.
Hope u make a dirtbike overnight adventure vid.
Love your blade reviews
Ain't NObody got time for Benchmade these days.
💲💲💲
Can it be used for selfdefence ?
Best "do all" blade is the glock field knife baybee
Often imitated, never duplicated. Nutnfancy KRVs are irreplaceable.
My local Tractor Supply has these on clearance for $11.99. I couldn't pass it up.

At Walmart the selling that knife with a combo like a tiny folding blade and a multi-tool skull I think for like 25 bucks
Bring back more KRV's and hiking with Macie the Mountain Dog!
Do an esee review please 🙏 🙂

You should check out Dutch Bushcraft Knives. Really funny Dutchman. They really torture knives to death
It has been a while since 2009. How's your health? My favorite video is the "Depussification" video.
Newsflash, nobody who's into knives is carrying SOG knives anymore👍
I know, right? I’ve never noticed this knife channel before, so I thought I’d try it… bad idea! Nobody who is anybody is even interested in SOG. @@jonathancupp3686 It's like he's permanently stuck in the very early 2000s🤣
Can't imagine choosing that when a srk-c is $34.
Bps adventurer is $39
Really can't imagine a work hard use knife with a hollow grind?
Well I got mine in a Walmart gift set for 25 with an extra knife and tool I agree though sk5 rules.

Love the speeder too!
Go mom get my field knife
Ill give you $28 for one tops.
I wish they would stop using the curved edge blade it's harder to sharpen
Just can't get over the sh1t sheath. If it had the srkc sheath it'd be a winner.
No clue what those letters mean.
Seal pup 😂
I have this knife. Nice but the edge retention is shit. Might be the sheath but it was very lack luster. Get a mora 🤷♂️
I couldn't feel comfy having to depend on a cheap SOG in a time of need...
