I have lost a wave, surge, and my favorite charge tti. When I started tying florescent paracord of different colors and different knots on the ends I haven't lost a blade, key(s), multi tool since. One of the curses of living on land.
TD, Torx became popular because everyone and their mom stripped 1,001 phillips heads over the last 20 years and was dying for an upgrade, so when a decent one came a long that could be implemented into traditional screws and didn't require a large hex head with a lot of surface area like every large bolt, it was implemented basically universally. It is my hope that in 20 years when my kids think 'screwdriver' they'll think 'torx' the way I think phillips head when I hear 'screwdriver'. I will say the one place phillips has torx is that a randomly sized philips head screwdriver can usually fit into a bunch of different sized screws. Torx, you basically need the bit that fits that particular hole. You might be able to go one to two sizes down but that's it.
I still have my issued Gerber that I got in the early 90s, it still has my blood caked all over. I have 4-5 multi tools stashed in different bags/vehicles/locations but that Gerber is very special to me and it will be melted down with my ashes. That Gerber has been blown up, caught on fire and on my person when I got wounded(Both times) the stories it could tell.
I tried a leatherman Rev for a little while, however, I had an issue with the pocket clip and it would not stay clipped to my pocket. I saw the Flagship on Drop in February, placed my order, and it finally showed up about a week ago. The tool is pretty solid and I’ve been carrying it constantly, tools are accessible and easy to deploy, I would definitely recommend this for and EDC item! I carry most of my EDC stuff in my pockets, and this can actually fit in the coin pocket of some of my jeans so it’s really easy to carry.
Some of my olights have been on the concrete and under the car a bunch.. and I have had a couple roll off the cessna 310 wings while checking fuel and oil levels . I am a bit old school in that fuel guages are awesome, but before I am flying over water or cross country I want to be sure. So I use a bunch of surefire and olights. The moonlight mode is awesome looking for my thermos at night while flying. Cant lose night vision. I bought a couple juice S 2's. Love them. Not available any more.
I'm always worried someone'll drop theirs in when they check tanks. I see too many guys with a two finger grip dipping the light through the cap.... it's like they're tempting fate!
I've been carrying some random Gerber slide out pliers multi-tool for forever that I found in my driveway and cleaned up and have been using it is so handy to have pliers or a screwdriver and I've been looking for a needle nose option I really like this it's got the inserts it's got a nice pair of scissors I'm sold
The "Flagship Pro" (With a locking blade) Lasted about 6 months of my everyday use, the Blade lock doesnt hold the Blade open anymore (i can close the Blade with one finger even when the lock is engaged), the whole tool is bent and the scissors are dull& prying apart when trying to cut things,a lock from one of the plier handles snapped off, the pliers have some play and are not even anymore, the replaceable cutting inserts are brittle on a positive note, the cutting hook is great ...in short its a nice looking tool, a great tool for an emergency kit or something like that but dont expect it to be a Leatherman at a low price... theres a reason why Leatherman, Victorinox etc tools are more expensive...if you really need a Quality tool at a Cheap price buy an used Leatherman...
I’ve burned through 3 wave clips by hooking a door or fence. Also use the bottle opener any time I’m drinking my beer not in my home. Love it and carry it at all times.
For a single, yeah. A lot of the time we review these cheaper ones, it's under the assumption you have a couple of the big boys already. Having something you don't worry about losing or beating up, or leaving in a car or work desk is pretty handy. I'd at least have like, 5 leathermans for any man over 25. Lots of different carry profiles are out there.
totally agree and i would get the wave (mostly because the knife is avail on the outside which for me is crucial). the wave (i have 2) costs twice as much but it's still not super expensive and should last virtually a lifetime and most important, is made in the USA. i was disappointed to see 3-4 one star reviews for the nextool which showed, with pics, the tool broken in pieces after virtually no use.
I'm addicted to collecting all multitools not just leathermans and gerbers. I have a collection. You don't look up this exact multitool by model number at 6am unless you've got an obsession.
Schrade ST11 copy. I like that one but the opening mechanics uses spring steel and over time it breaks….. that said I’m using mine 20+ times a day, more that the average person
Really nothing is getting posted on UGETube. It looks like not that many people made the leap, all things considered. The problem with changing platforms is the new platform needs to be far better. It’s all about friction and the tyranny of the default.
Buying this next paycheck. Carry a wingman at work edc. Scissors and knife worn out. Can’t justify the price increases the thing to buy another one. Going to give this a shot while I send the wingman back to leather man for repairs. Thanks nutn and td.
Price alone makes that a winner! Wow! Good table top y'all, headed to get one of those in just a minute. Time to upgrade my old time tested and still awesome Leatherman KICK. Hey Thumbs-up video ~John
Not a bad tool but nothing will replace my Victorinox Swisschamp, have had it 8 years and never any issues, still walks and talks like a bank vault, Swiss Quality!
I carry a Wave+, with a pocket clip, everywhere, everyday. I use a Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition, to sharpen my knives, and more importantly the kitchen knives, but even so I carry a Mossy Oak razor knife with Irwin tri-metal blade, all of the time, too. That way I don't booger up the blade on the Wave+.
I just got one and I’m very impressed. For the size, it’s crazy how many tools they put on it (for those who are unfamiliar, ALL tools are locking). The pliers are precise and quite strong (again, for the size). Scissors are definitely below victorinox and probably leatherman in quality. But for something that’s so easy to pocket carry, it’s very hard to beat. Nutnfancy should definitely review it... right up his alley. I’d love to see victorinox and leatherman do something in that form factor (plus something with big scissors, like this Nextool).
Plenty of copies out there, wealljuggleknives has reviews of many. That said the drivers at end of scissor handle for me always twist at the frame and fail on Chinese MT. After juice S2 bent the pliers pin I am now full time victorinox spirit for giggles and sog Power plier for GTW toughness.
Made a chadellier (dining room light) with distressed wood ammo crates , copper tubing and Mason jars. The chicks dig it! I beat the tubing with rebar on a stump then Spray ammonia on the copper , sprinkle with salt and put in a plastic bag Bam? Turquoise goodness
I like my Wave Plus. But it arrived with loose joint screws and wobbly tools. I had to buy two security torx kits because both sides require leverage to tighten. Add $45 to the price. My wave gets used daily. Great combination of tools for outdoor use.
The only multitool I own is a 1st generation Leatherman Wave, hardly used, still a superb piece of kit though! This vid was entertaining in a "dudes rambling about neat gadgets" kinda way. Nicely done guys. :D
I have broken so many of those Leatherman Wave pocket clips! Just like all of the accessories from weatherman they are utterly and completely proprietary and ludicrously over priced! I actually went back to the OG gen 1 Wave just because of how annoyed I was with expensive accessories of the newer versions.
Another multi tool with a big scissor like that-you should search Roxon multi tool. Plus roxon has a cool blade exchange feature in a pocket knife/multi tool. And if you only need a average knife and good scissors and want to use your preferred multi tool they have that option
I don’t know, my Leatherman has been sent in and rebuilt for the cost of shipping ($10) Actually sent in three at one time for the $10. I’m hard on my multi tools. They come back in new condition, no questions asked.
Had my crunch well over 10 years now. I love how compact it is compared to the flagship models and have used the vice grip jaws waay more than any of my needle nose multis. Highly recommend the crunch.
Drop sent out an email a little while back saying that they are doing all their outdoor oriented stuff on Amazon I think. Not sure how the whole community demand part functions like that. Seems like a downgrade to me, but I rarely used Drop anyway so not much lost on my end.
@@CallsignWulf I bought a few knives from them in 2019. The gent and the keen both are really nice btw. Thanks for the info strange move I wonder why they did it.
Come on Boys; now how about a review of the "MINI" Nextool Flagship Pro; 65mm; 78 gram; Less burden; perfect stand by pocket tool; for outdoor adventures; You Tube soldier boys and Nutnfancy subscribers Is it a worthy contender for the Squirt or even the Spert?
I got 4 years of daily, hourly use and getting dropped before I finally killed mine. Oil, coolant, getting knocked off hoods onto concrete. Didn't matter it kept going. It finally took a 6ft drop for the billionth time when it would only do moonlight mode
no, buy the wave peeps, skip this Chinese crap, buy an heirloom tool for $99 that'll last a lifetime. if it were $20 bucks, you know - ok, but for twice the $ you're getting a wave ($99). it just does not make sense.

The clips need some hard bending and reprofiling to give 'em any grip. They just don't hang on.

Hey Nutn, would you please do a video on how to sharpen different blades?
Yes. Agree. Also did not see the sharpener link.
I’ve burned through 3 wave clips by hooking a door or fence. Also use the bottle opener any time I’m drinking my beer not in my home. Love it and carry it at all times.
I would buy a leatherman or gerber and spend more. I have found cheaper multi tools just dont hold up when its important they they work.

I have a wingman and it helped me assemble all my ikea stuff. Great mt and i plane to buy a plane letherman pocket knife.
Where can i buy that doll ? Asking for a friend :))
Copper/brass kit would also be nicely anti-bacterial.
Check out RAE Gear holsters. I've carried a Wave daily for years doing maintenance. There is the best I've found. Spring clipped, not belt looped.
