20 years on, and there's still nothing on the market that remotely resembles FFVIII.
We'll probably never see another project that matches boundless originality with insane production values ever again. Hats off to the team for creating this industry-defining masterpiece
Okay honest question what do you think this game has that makes it "industry-defining masterpiece", I don't get it, is it nostalgia ?
It was original but it didn't exactly succeed in its ideas.

@@vypper I love this game to death, but "industry-defining masterpiece?" I just don't know, honestly. I can't really remember everything that came out on the PS1, but there was alot of gems in that era.
Final Fantasy VIII is such a wonderful game. Just wonderful.
People usually only hate on it cause of the weird mechanics like junction and drawing

@@jaredmartin7040 Um... that's a massive part of the combat and character building. If that aspect doesn't appeal to you then, no, you're not going to like a very core portion of the game. That's like saying, "I'd enjoy this bite of food if it didn't taste so disgusting."
Metal Gear has that but I agree it's one of the most memorable I have.

FF VIII is one of my favourite game of all time. Thank you for remastering it.
This is my favorite Final Fantasy, and it is so awesome to see new interviews and information on a game so largely ignored and even disliked.
The music and themes in this game meant so much to me ❤️ so happy to see this
I remember people always talking about FF8 at school, but couldn’t afford the console to get the game. Then one day my dad and I went to the flea market and he bought me one with the PlayStation underground demo. I was in tears, then I saved money and bought me FF 8. I couldn’t believe or comprehend what I was playing. All I knew it was one of the best experiences I had in a game. I know FF7 is the greatest for others, but I think FF 8 is the greatest in my opinion. Zell for life!!!

Ah, the story of Squall and Rinoa! Is so beautiful that theach us how to love.
A hushed game, that has many mistakes... but even so, some things make me love this game for 20 years and more!
Make a remake SE, make it right. Give us more of Laguna and depth to the caracthers, a easy juction system... but keep the essence: the songs, the drama, the normal people and their fears, and the top, Squall and Rinoa. The thoughts, their fights, their hug, their promise, their love.
For them, i will be here waiting for a remake. I promese.
You can love or hate FF VIII ,but you can't deny the beauty of the song Eyes on Me.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if some final fantasy fans made that their wedding song

I thought Eyes on Me played in space. The song during the dance scene is called Waltz For The Moon.

The soundtrack for VIII will always be one of my favorites and takes me back to 1999 when I was playing this and the Dreamcast back to back.
As FF VII became my favorite game back then, FF VIII was my most anticipated game ever, i was hungry for any info at all lol, and even though i still like VII more i definitely enjoyed this one a lot, it's cool to see the people involved talk about how it all came to be.
I've paid for this game for the 4th time now over the years
I feel you. I have the ps1/psp/ps3/ps4 normal and remaster. Both normal and remaster on steam. If i had a xbone and nin switch I'd get it there too. The game brought me a genre that I love now more then ever and ff8 is the reason for my love for any FF title main line or side story.

Was definitely worth the money, this game deserves more love.
I remember playing this when I was 8 years old, definitely my favorite entry in the series, the graphics were mindblowing back then
Oh and still think it has the best soundtracks of all entries
I want to see the likes of The Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, Wild Arms, Valkyrie Profile, Lunar, Shadow Hearts, Parasite Eve, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears...etc make a full return.
The absolute necesity is Xenogear! The goat game!
ValkyrieProfile is also a Goat but it is perfect as it is un 2D.
I fear they lose his pure essence if they remake.

I am so happy about this remastered... I had the 1 out of 4 CD for PS1 and after a long quest, I found a friend who gave me all the PS1 original CDs to play!
I had to return the CDs and I was so sad, but now with the remaster I can play to FF8 again!!!
I did multiple playtrough if this game with different style each time. Thanks to the unique junction system. I really enjoyed this game, the mechanic and the story.
And then everyone got addicted to playing cards and quit playing for the story
That was my favorite lol. I kept a game save just so I could keep playing cards.
Triple Triad is still my favorite mini game out of the whole FF series.

I managed to re-buy all three when Xbox was having a sale still didn't get any DLC though which kind of irks me. Still got my PS3 though.
Theyve been upgraded for Xbox coz theyve just been released on that platform

Please I beg of U Square Fix the bug that freeze the screen when playing in Spanish!!!!!!! , If u cast shield magic and others In battle the screen just turn all black at the end of the fight. Happens when u face the Brothers GF and also in others fights. Forgot to mention that You lost all progress!!!

I'm 90% sure if the second remake is happening, it will be FF6 Remake as the current director of FFVII Remake, Tetsuya Nomura said a few years back that he would like to remake FF5 and FF6. Well, between those two, of course people will choose FF6.

I love everything about this game except for its broken borderline unfinished battle system. Probably the least fun battle system in the series but everything else in the game is at such a high level it makes up for it. So great to get to hear the creators talk about it, I'd like to see more content like this

id love to play this one remastered I enjoyed the original a lot, I hope one day soon they fully remaster chrono cross it is one of my most faved final fantasy storylines I played it til I couldn't no more, im hoping they do fully remaster it and enhance it to levels above and beyond anything anyone who is a true chrono cross fan would fall in love with it even more.

IV and V aswell!! I brought those three after VII-IX and reached the last areas before the discs became unreadable. I loved all six of them.
There is a FF VI remastered. But no one like it. The art was a bit different.

The sound glitches out after so long when using Angelo search. And every once in awhile when you exit back to the title menu the game stops working... just so you are aware Sony and SquareEnix.

@@jakerittlinger440 I somehow don't think so. As it happens only when using Angelo search after an extended period of time. It is a brand new Pro one of the quieter models with the smaller power cord as opposed to the original Pro

Didn't even bother unfortunately because it didn't come physical for ps4 so I don't need it, I would have liked to have it on my shelf with the rest of the ff remastered just a wasted opportunity. Great game though I've got the original.
