I love this officer's vibe. Calm with the gun holding homeowner, listening to some good tunes in the car, polite with the mother, vibin with the dog, mentoring the kid... We need more cops like this!
I took a defensive driving course years ago for the 10% insurance reduction, and the class was taught by a clearly-jaded cop who was just shy of retirement. He advised the class as an oh-by-the-way, that if you're ever lit up by a cop and you've been drinking but you're close to home, just punch it and run inside and grab a beer and then answer the door and say you didn't realize that they were behind you / trying to pull you over. At that point (he claimed) there's too much reasonable doubt for there to be a DUI conviction. But, yeah, it seems like you're still gonna catch some charges for fleeing. Not sure that's really any better than a DUI.
@@jtocwru DWI is a misdemeanor, fleeing the police is a felony - you'd have to disclose it on most job applications, and it would bar you from ever working for any part of the government, prevent you from voting, owning a gun, etc. Just take the DWI at that point
This is the kind of mom more people need She cares and loves him, but when his actions catch up with him, she's going to be the first to literally pull up a chair and enjoy the show
Lucky? The kid’s just being all nice and nonchalant because he doesn’t understand the consequence. He’s probably going to get a felony for this, and then a few years down the line, when he’s trying to get an actual job that’ll be able to give him financial independence and growth as a person, every employer will deny him based on his felony arrest/conviction. He will then resort to working some soul-crushing menial job that doesn’t require a background check (waiter, dishwasher, construction worker). Menial work for low wages, living with mom cause he can’t make enough to get his own place. No gf cause hes broke and lives at home. There goes the self-esteem and dignity that he shows in this video. With that depleted self esteem and hopelessness comes the drinking and weed. Maybe even pills and harder drugs. All of this for what exactly? Some kid being a dumbass and driving his motorcycle without a helmet and crashing into the grass. And we wonder why there are so many unhinged people in this country. Lifelong systematic consequences for absolute nonsense
@rocinante4488 explained to perfection. Im assuming the person who wrote the original comment isn't aware of the effects of a felony. I also wanted to add that I agree with you. I don't think this kid deserves to have his life ruined. He was being dumb, probably high on adrenaline, and watched too many motorcycle get-away videos. 19 years old and one dumb decision like such shouldn't effect the rest of his life. I hope they don't end up pinning a felony on him. But this is one of the best comments I've read on the internet. A+

Officer Charlie must be the most calm officer I ever seen. Mom handled this perfectly. No crying, yelling, or interfering. Sit back, let the police do their job, and made sure her son knew he was at fault and she wasn’t saving him. That will deter him from stupid decisions with the law later on.

I think all parents have these moments, almost no matter how good your kid is. It's almost a little worrying if your kid never gets in trouble. It means they aren't out there testing the world a little.
One of the hallmarks of good parenting is loving your kids but letting them make, and learn from, their own mistakes. It's not an easy thing to do, instinct is to always protect your child. She did it right, though. She knew he made a mistake, he knew he made a mistake, she knew he needed to learn from it. Sometimes, all you can do is sit back and watch it unfold and just hope you did right by your kid and they'll learn the lesson they need to learn.

The cop has absolutely no clue whether or not he has a concealed weapon (gun or otherwise), and thinks he's hiding in the woods so he can grab the bike when they leave (reminder he has no clue that he was running home). Maybe where you live, guns aren't as common, drunk people as well, but up here in 'scansin, we have more bars than citizens, and more guns than livestock, the potential for a traffic stop to turn into a shootout or ambush on a cop is real (but luckily rather small), the cop wasn't prepping to ice the kid, he was keeping control of the situation by setting the pace; if the kid sees the gun, he'll surrender. You must've also not watched the drive to the station, the cop was HELPING the kid with this whole "growing up" thing; the kid made a stupid set of decisions, and he'll pay for 'em, but the cop was doing the adult thing by showing him why good decisions are important, and how fucking up isn't the end, you gotta live and learn, or else you'll lose your life early.

So we as the people they abuse will always have concerns about what moves are good and bad by the police. That cop had the right to be on alert. Yet the accused man of running from the police had no prior violent crimes involving guns. And had not seen any guns on the individual. Proving more or less the cop was a little trigger happy. The police are meant to protect and serve the people and not the police. Looks like he was more interested in protecting himself rather than the kid who ran due to the fact the police was pulling the kid over anyway for speeding that could potentially hurt the driver of the bike or other vehicle drivers on the road. People have little to no clue to police policies nor the due process that cops have to go by giving the situation. And this situation did not need an assault rifle. That is what lawyers would call overkill. You should understand this giving if you were the one running without a weapon you wouldn't want a police officer trying to aim an assault rifle at you.
I love the interaction between the homeowner and cop, just casually saying "hey you want to put that down for me" A cop that understands a homeowners rights
Can't believe how well that cop handled the homeowner pointing a gun at him @ 1:50. Seems he's an asset to that department, being sympathetic to the concerns of residents while also vigilant enough to enforce the law and protect himself.
As a mother, I absolutely love how this officer told him that he needs to apologize to his mom because he's sure she raised him better than that. You can tell his mother did based on how she was basically telling on him when he lied lol I would be mortified and you better believe my child would be heading down to that jail.
That "Are you shitting me?" I could immediately tell that she wasn't about to let that shit go. She believed the officers right away and was ready to kick his ass. Even if they'd let him off with a warning, she certainly wasn't. I'm a fan of gentle parenting, but in this scenario her kid absolutely needed a kick in the ass. per 100,000 population in the US, back in 1972 the vehicular death rate was around 27. as of 2020, they have plummeted to 11 and I believe that's due in part to younger people having access to the internet and being exposed to how dangerous drunk driving can be. The internet may have its flaws, but you are a good example of how it can be used to better our own lives and the lives of our children.
My parents just told me "you drink call us don't you dare drive you get grounded but its better then arrested or hitting some one." In fact most parents I met have that rule, they come get you no matter what, worst case grounding. But they want you to call them not to drink and drive. Every party I went to my mom new about till like 30 she offered me a ride if I drank instead driving. Granted after 21 and not living with her I was told no grounding, just mean looks for little while lol. But I always felt even now I am 38 in a pinch I can call her for a ride. I may be stuck waiting a few hours, or she sends a cousin lol but I only had to do it a couple times and never for drinking in fact both times it was dead car battery lol

Look sorry if you the delusional that blue gang members are all innocent yet this country has had a very large problem with police being currupt. You should understand this giving if you were the one running without a weapon you wouldn't want a police officer trying to aim an assault rifle at you.
even as a drunk teenager he had more respect for those cops than most real grown folks beside runing from the cops
Actions speak louder than words and nobody is really double-minded.
It usually takes a few years as an adult before you built that shitty sense of entitlement
@@1badombre82Usually it stems from a childhood full of it
Good judgement oftentimes comes from bad decisions and the willingness to learn from them.
Certain people could learn from him
I love the interaction between the homeowner and cop, just casually saying "hey you want to put that down for me" A cop that understands a homeowners rights
A little darker and he’d have a magazine between the eyes. Thank God for good genes and European ancestors
@@FancySeeingYouHere Homeowner is clearly asian, as you can tell in both the video and his voice, but nice try though!

I'm not an American but Wisconsin seems like a different place. More civil lol
I mean a little stupid to pull your firearm when you see police lights but eh.
That "Are you shitting me?"
I could immediately tell that she wasn't about to let that shit go. She believed the officers right away and was ready to kick his ass. Even if they'd let him off with a warning, she certainly wasn't.
I'm a fan of gentle parenting, but in this scenario her kid absolutely needed a kick in the ass. Before he got himself or others killed.
No you never go against family like this. This should have been handled within the family not with the state.
@@farmdaddy510 Are you kidding? He commit a crime, so he pays the consequences. Saving your child from the consequences of their actions is bad parenting, he learned a valuable lesson.
@@farmdaddy510 Handled within the family lol what? He ran from the cops as an underage driver. Mom did the best thing she could and not cover for him making utterly stupid and illegal decisions.
@@farmdaddy510 "Breaking multiple laws that endangers the entire community should be handled within the family"
Are you black? Because this is the same logic why black on black murders disproportionately go unsolved "MUH SNITCHING" meanwhile children are shot by stray bullets. Do your shoes come in size 15 because you're a clown
I like how the cop was very professional and kind to the kid when booking and driving him to the jail, he knows he’s just a kid who made a stupid mistake never raised his voice or anything at the kid, much respect for that officer
Yup. We were all kids once & did stupid things. I really thought since the arrest was so cordial that they wouldn’t have charged him with a felony though. Life lesson learned the hard way. He can’t vote & it will be hard to get a job. Ugh
Because he’s white
@AndreaLopez-us8uz and u are idiot. His mom was cool, the kid was calm, why would the officers not be?
@@AndreaLopez-us8uz u sound stupid 😂💀 how u gonna say he’s racist and would treat other people fair ? Just cause he’s a cop ?

My son is about the same age. I show him these videos and explain to him that we all learn from the mistakes we make but it sure is a hell of a lot better to learn from OTHER people's mistakes.
2 types of people, those that make mistakes and learn from them, and those that see others make mistakes and learn from them. My pops always tells me this
@@RiftVaulterthere’s a third type - those that don’t learn 😆
Keep it up man. I didn't have a good dad, and I had to learn the hard way. Today things are a lot different. But being a good dad is the most important job on earth.
per 100,000 population in the US, back in 1972 the vehicular death rate was around 27. as of 2020, they have plummeted to 11 and I believe that's due in part to younger people having access to the internet and being exposed to how dangerous drunk driving can be.
