It is the way of the Medival Period, but only for the aristocracy. Plus, taking the family focus afterward means that 9 Times out of 10 your character will find love even in an arranged marriage.

Hey Quill! I have an idea for names with numbers, this is what I usually do when I want to include people's usernames in games and they have numbers:
Give each number a syllable, you can just do something similar to English, like this: 1=ó 2=tu 3=tre 4=fo 5=fi 6=si 7=se 8=ei 9=ni 0=ze
Using this, 2e71828, which, all respect to the highest donor, is a horrible name for a character and really wrecks the immersion, would end up like so: Tueseóeituei. Looks much more like a name of sorts, right? It's not perfect and the result is quite exotic, but working with that it's at least better than an unrelatable string of words, and shouldn't be impossible to pronounce either. Works better with short strings:

2e71828 is an amazingly great name. For some short moments I read it as "e", with the abbrivation 2e. But of course it is not e, or 2.7IbsenIbsen as I learned in school. It is 2e71828.
Alternatively he could just try to make up some kind of realistic name that is somewhat related to the original username.
I'm pretty sure that 2e71828 would be perfectly fine if Quill had named his character "Euler"...

Im not a fan of giving characters names of users if there too weird. I rather have a good fantasy name.

Once or twice, yeah. Once it was Italy exploding northwards. Once it was a rare Empire of France taking most of the Italy for some reason.
Absolutely love your "Quill de lis" coat of arms
Wounded, Stressed, Depressed. Add some health to deal with the negative effects and then use the rest of those points wisely. You can live well with 3,5 or 4,0 health.
All these traits will disappear with time and you'll be left with more points, more health.
The basics of CK2 character creation.
Legendary physician for those times. Successfully treated cancer (at least for a while) and immediately went to treat a sickly newborn heir
9:35 What you can do with CKII at least is back up your Iron Man save; after every episode you can do a manual save, copy the save file to another folder (renaming it based on the episode number recorded to keep track). If something happens with an episode, you can overwrite the original with the backup and you can replay it without trouble. I've been doing that for my playthroughs since I started using the achievements to direct my campaign goals beyond just "survive and expand" type campaigns. Thought I'd offer that tidbit in case you weren't aware. :)
Non aggression pacts can be extremely bad sometimes. You can usually end them if needed though
Always nice to come back to CK2 every once in a while, especially when an update happens. I hope you get involved in the eventual crusades, if only so we can see the new changes they made to the Middle East, which I hope they do similar things for more regions in the futures, because as it is some areas are just...weirdly square and or artificial feeling. I’m looking at you duchies of Osterreich, Meissen, Saxony, Essex, Gloucester, and Kiev (we most of the Ruthenian and western Russian duchies really).

he took grey eminence for the diplomacy, the fertility was just a bonus
for his ruler, yeah; i was talking about when he was searching for his wife. since he said "stats are secondary" he could have searched for that instead of diplo.
No, he was still going for Diplo, since wifes stats add to his, he wanted high diplo stat so he can get onto his lieges council, and/or make his liege like him enough to give him a title
I have gotten cancer, had children and they had children who got cancer and died before me as an adult. So yes you can live quite a while with cancer.
Hendrik Elmet. True, but you can also die two weeks later, the glory of RNG. But then it is only his wife who got cancer and one usually goes trough a couple of them.

As I said that I saw my grandchild die of cancer. He lived for 2 years under the condition, which is quite good for the time.

Well, the dutch novel ``Komt een vrouw bij de dokter'' (litteraly translated ``A woman came in the doctorsoffice'') is considered a classic, and it's about a guy who's sleeping around while his wife is dying from cancer. So if you call it art, i don't see anything wrong with Quills plans :P

Bad choice for your kid's education Pride is one of the worst things you could choose. Thrift(Diplomacy and Intrigue), Struggle(Martial), Duty(Stewardship), and Faith(Learning) are the best ones.

30 seconds into the game and Quill's looking to see if he can marry the 12 year old daughter of his King. This is going to be an interesting playthrough.
In one of my playthroughs for CK2 (I was playing as an Irish Tribal Lord) I had a bunch of children; then one of them turned out to be a suspected spawn of statan. Then all my kids began to die one by one, even the ones who weren't even in my court, except for that suspected spawn child of the devil. Then just when I only had one son left, I killed that spawn. It was the best decision I ever made.
10/10 would do again.
Priority:
1- Hold as many barony in capital County
2- Hold as many Counties inside primary Duchy desmene

Speaking of marrying for love. As a Muslim Sultan, I just had two of my secondary wives fall in love, run off with each other, and then jump off a cliff when I chased them down.
When I create my own character, I always start off with Wounded. It gives me -11 years, and will USUALLY (but not always) heal.

My favourite way to start a game of Crusader Kings II is:

>Expel the Jews
>Wait for next king
>Borrow 300 from Jewish merchants
>Expel the Jews again
Repeat.
Ah... it's good to be king.
Perhaps this will help me learn how to play the game proper.
So far the best game of it I had was where I created a custom character who was powerful stats-wise and had lusts. So he had a daughter with his mistress (who he in his last years legitimized) and a son with his wife.
He was the teacher to both his children. For the daughter, she inherited or learned all the positive traits that she could from the father, and was later married off to the emperor of Byzantium. (I was sort of surprised he accepted the marriage, considering my social standing - but she was super human) Meanwhile the son got a mass of negative traits - he was twisted both physically and spiritually. Almost universally reviled. Even later by his wife and children.
So when he died - of course I got to play as the screw-up half brother of the Empress who everybody hated. So it was basically sitting on the back waters of the empire, with a line of screw ups, while the half-sister was going between kicking all kinds of ass in military campaigns and popping out wonder children, who naturally were all super humans themselves.
I love Quill playing CK2.
I just want more of this.

What a story so far!
Why would you go for diplomacy? Diplomacy is worthless in ck2 until you have a large empire and need to manage dozens of vassals, because by then you don't need stewardship since your realm will be super centralized. Martial is the most useful in the early game, most useful as a count. More troops to conquer more counties, become a duke, fabricate on your liege's throne, and then you can worry about the soft sissy traits. If you're going to say diplomacy is good for the opinion boost, the high prestige you gain from winning battles and wars with a high martial character more than makes up for it.
Please, can you find a way to integrate the donator names in a realistic way ? Im all for awarding people for their kindness, but its kinda weird seeing a count named 2e71828...

I feel shattered retreat should have a negative modifier that causes a large increase in attrition for the shattered army. It would make sense to me that a shattered army is not organised and is force to leave behind its supplies.
Lackoname That would make sense, if not for the fact that armies in this period didn't carry their supplies with them other than weapons and armor. They pillaged supplies from the countryside, whether they were at home or in enemy territory.
fair point but you also have to consider that the army is disorganized and exhausted from battle and retreating, making it likely that soldiers are going to end up split off and lost from the rest of the army. Retreating will also leave less time to gather supplies, on top of burning more energy (an army marches on it stomach). Finally you have to consider that after a lost battle is when morale is lowest increasing the number of desertions among the ranks of soldiers.

r/crusaderkings has a DLC guide and if you take a sec to search the CK2 forums you'll find many threads on the topic. The two big game changers though are Conclave and Way of Life- pretty much everything else just unlocks a new religion or government type and are entirely optional if you have no interest in them.

Probably toolate but almost all the dlc I recommend u get at some point except for sunset invasion cuz it makes zero sense but 1 tip that I wish I knew b4....don't buy horselirds without legacy of Rome 😂
Since horselirds is built with needing legacy as its main base for nomads for as long as u r a nomad I don't know if it's possible to play it without legacy since u need the retinue/horde but ya kniw
