  • Somehow we never took the Corolla Cross V spec up the mountain before this - We've taken the G spec, but only to Goh Tong Jaya, and we have also taken the Cross hybrid up to the top, and this time, we managed to get a Cross V spec, and here is the video.
    The thing that surprised me very much is the stability and handling characteristics of the Cross 1.8V - perhaps it is the weight distribution, but I am sure the 18-inch wheels also did a lot. The Cross G was already great, but this time the V excelled.
    It does not have the power of the HR-V turbo, but it certainly can give it a run for the money due to its very good handling.
    Do watch the video to the end, and give us your comments below.

      Cost, my dear cost. When you go CKD, you have to select your specs, and these specs need 'type approval'. Retail price will be higher, and the power plant won't do it justice, so we need maybe a different engine, amd that makes the cost even higher.
      CBU, you say, and then the proce goes above RM200k, at which level there are other players, so there you go, back at square one.

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  Год назад +5

      Highest priority is getting rid of right lane hoggers. However a good highway education program would work wonders. Most of the time it is the blissfully unaware people who are the culprits, because conscientious and good drivers know how to keep left.
      Having said that, many of my own friends also tend to keep on the fast lane, and it is also usually due to ignorance.
      I usually tell them but I also suspect they go right back to their old ways the moment I am out of sight. Sad.

    Uncle, isn't 17 inch rim a better option for comfort because of the additional rubber? 18 inch would put the rim metal nearer to the road surface hence a harsher ride? Just want to confirm in case I've understood the theory wrongly all this time 😅

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  Год назад +5

      Theory is correct, but overall ride and handling is a complex issue. As long as there is enough flex in the sidewalks, the ride can still be comfortable. However the lower aspect ratio contiubutes greatly in the area of agility and body roll, and overall comfort, as in passenger feeling of security and stability is increased.
      It does not necessarily mean a higher profile means a more comfortable ride.
      Tire technology has advanced quite a lot since those early days when this thinking was first mooted. I was there in that era too. 😅

      Both share the same drive train, but the Altis will be a bit quieter as the rear axle in isolated in the rear boot area. Hatches and SUVs with the rear suspension in the cabin tend to transmit more road noise into the cabin.

      Both are built with Macpherson struts and torsion beams. The Cross has a slightly longer wheelbase and 18 inch tyres. Based on my personal driving feel, it seems the Cross handles a bit better.

      Called that stone era. If you think Honda HRV is good, did you think HRV is using Stone Age technology that comes with LaneWatch but with poor resolution but no blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, camera parking system, no power tailgate except for hybrid, no front parking sensors, interior looks really outdated and no temperature gauge. Spare part delivery and quality for honda is really worst but worst than toyota.
