Craig Gibson i love my 2018. It’s like a little tank. I really like driving it and they have such a cute look. I had one of those little Ford things when my Sportage was in the body shop. That ford thing was a piece of shit! Oh and BTW my Sportage was having body work because someone tried to break in it. 😡 My Sportage is the black cherry so I call her “Black Beauty” LOL Happy trails to you!!

This has helped me. My sister has the Sportage and I must say big cars freak me out a little (I mean I drive a Corsa) but with 4 young kids I really need to get over my fear of big cars and find something I can fit my kids in comfortably. Thanks for this 👍🏼🚗😍

Great review. Perhaps you could do more to remind viewers what badge of the model you're reviewing. I got excited about this car, as someone who was considering a Sportage, only to find this particular Sportage is well above my budget. The one I will be buying next week is missing a lot of the best features of this one.

I bought a 2017 had it for 6 months and the Motor Blew. Come to find out the 2.4 has a recall on all Motors with a certain VIN and mine was on the list. Out for three weeks and no rental or compensation offered and I still had to get back and forth to work. 30,000 miles and there was another victim at the Service dept doing the same thing.

I have a 2017 Carens 1.7 diesel DCT (auto) for which I part-exed last September a serviced up to date, 2012 VW Touran 1.6SE DSG. The Kia is thirsty compared to the Touran, I get 39MPG on a run in the KIa, in the Touran I used to get 58MPG but I do not regret my decision one bit; here's why. In two years the Touran had a water-pump, an ABS pump, and EGR valve and finally, the DSG gearbox packed up. I discovered later the particular box in mine (DQ200) is now covered by a 70,000 mile 'good will' warranty. my gear box failed at 71,000. And what problems has my Kia given me? None, Nada. I drive blissfully free of the dreaded orange dash lights. I made the switch when collecting the Touran from our local city auto gearbox specialist after the gearbox failed and finding one had arrived with the same fault codes as mine, and learning it was the third VW with those codes in two months. I asked him what makes he 'didn't see. He said, 'not many, far eastern, and never seen a Kia or Suzuki'. That did it for me, I was down to the Kia dealer the following day praying the pesky Volskwagen would hold together long enough for me to make the swap. I'm not saying this is 'evidential' or anything, but it worked for me. The Carens by the way is a peach to drive and ride in, bar for the non-height adjustable passenger seat, which I fixed with four longer seat-bolts and piece of 200mm steel box section sawed into 1 and 1/8th " lengths.

Currently have the 1.7 Kia Sportage CDTI and am considering something different because of one feature that no reviewer has picked up on......unless you purchase the premium model, the front passenger seat ( which is not height adjustable ) sits a lot lower than the drivers seat which does not provide the passenger with the same visability and experience. This also applies to the Hyundai Tucson, so based on your reviews, I am looking at the Nissan X Trail.

A great car .I've just picked up a brand new 2021 spec 1600 petrol. It's suberb....I had a Honda crv before and yes they are built to last but for the price difference this has to be a better deal..£23:000 for the equivalent Honda it was £29:000. I test drove them both and liked the feel of the Kia more...the decision was easy.

I have the 2.0 CRDi GTs (turbo diesel) automatic.
It’s solid and dependable, never let me down, BUT I can confirm the fuel consumption is diabolical (24 mpg around town and no more than 35 mpg on motorway). Also, I agree with others who’ve said why on earth do they put the low-level lights (indicators, etc) down there? Crazy design!

I got the 2019 1.6 T-GDI AWD in February and its a blinding bit of kit, 174bhp turbo petrol engine really does crack on, Fuel consumption after nearly 2800 miles is averaging 34mpg so not too shabby for a large car with a relatively small engine.
My one gripe is with the thing you liked and that's the lip less boot opening, Yeah granted its great for loading heavy cases into the boot, But its not so great at stopping bottles rolling out and smashing on the drive, Especially as it was a £60 bottle of single malt! ;-(
Really cant find anything else I don't like about it.

I have this model in Australia, a 2019 GT line with a 2.4 petrol engine. The spec is virtually the same as yours; excellent car especially the Korean tyres which wasn't the case on a previous Sportage eight years ago. My only criticisms are, no front seat memory and no dipping of the passenger's mirror for parking. However, worst of all is the appalling lack of torque with the 2.4 petrol engine - I spend all my time paddling! I do recommend the Sportage but only in 2 litre diesel format, which is our choice in Aust. We also have fixed price servicing - brilliant. Mine makes a very good town car but it's diesel for everything else. Fuel consumption is 10.6 litres/100km, awful, dropping to 8/100 on a trip.

I would have no hesitation in buying a Sportage but for one dangerous failure that all Sportages suffer from. Why oh why,do they insist on placing the rear indicators,as low as possible i,e, on the bloody bumper. It's madness! You need to ensure the following driver can see that you are turning so the common sense place to put the turn signals is as high as possible,is it not?

Because it was primarily for the north American market where the whole light assembly flashes in the same colour (red). This is the difference between Kia and other manufactures. Others are more well versed in variances in global legislation and have plenty of resource to throw into r&d before getting too far and then slapping them on where there is space.

  • @leetronix
    @leetronix 5 лет назад +2

The 1.6 is a lot less powerful. You did not even mention about the fact it is a mild hybrid on the 2.0 diesel at 48v and talk about the info system and the live internet connection etc. The other feature it misses in memory seats or lack of and its only a 4way lumbar. You said you were going to talk about the 8 speed gear box but never did and as for the MPG its based on how you drive the car ie fast slow or in-between as it adjusts the fuel spent. The boot also has a remote opening from the key fob and also opens if you stand behind the boot with the key in your pocket after 3 beeps. You did not show the panoramic roof and did not mention it was electric slide and tilt with wind guard. Did not mention that all lights were LED not just the daylight ones. Did not show the 3D camera and that it has reverse warning collision, and skimmed over the other features in a sentence. Has auto dimming centre mirror. On the whole this was a poor video. Hope you improve for the future.

I drove one when my car was in for service. I think "value" and "SUV" do not go together. Often the SUV will get you, at the same price, a vehicle one or two sizes down from the car of the same price.
My Skoda Octavia 1.5 SEL is the same price as the Sportage base 1.6 petrol "2" variant.
The Sportage has a higher driving position and marginally more head room.
    The disadvantages are:
    Less power
    More fuel consumption
Less space (you can put a bike in the Octavia flat down)
Poor interior quality (Octavia is on another level)
    Worse fuel consumption
    No LED lights
    No automatic braking
The experience of driving the Sportage was, in relation to noise, controls, power, touch of all interior materials, was clearly inferior.
I would urge anyone purchasing an SUV to try the equivalently priced hatchback.

I have one too and as you say lovely car but high fuel consumption. Best I have done is on the motorway 38.6 mpg. Usually nearer 30 though. No where near the advertised mpg. Just wish car manufacturers were more honest on this. Won't be swapping it though as I love to drive it.

The 2018 model is awful. Thought the steering was faulty while driving on motorway, it kept pulling one way and then the other. It didn’t have lane assist. Took it back to garage, they said it was a feature. Some feature, I’ve have never had any thing more annoying than this in a car. Will never buy another one.
