“Sampling the Latest Automotive Delicacies!”
I always liked the sportage. I have heard from many owners that they have had zero issues.
But the warranty on it is phenomenal.
I have a 2017 Sportage and I love it! Next year I plan to buy a new Sportage.
My aunt has a 2013 Sportage. And it still runs smooth.
@@cindycrenshaw-martin9849 Hi. Did you purchase a new Sportage?
When I need a car review, you're the first guys that I look for
Hey guys - just wanted to say thanks for the review! I just purchased this model yesterday and am very pleased. I did my due diligence before making the purchase, I've test driven and looked at all of the vehicles that are in this class and when it came down to the actual purchase - it was an easy decision to go with the Kia Sportage S model. I must admit - one of the first things that made my car shopping experience great with Kia was that they (Cowboy Kia in Conroe, TX) did not use pressure sales tactics. When I walked in, I informed my salesperson that I wanted to test drive several models and that I wanted to get his absolute best price on the models that I drove as I would use that number to eventually come back and make a purchase (I did this with all of the dealers I was interested in). They gave me their best price - and after going through many dealerships and viewing all of the other vehicles in the class - we ended up coming back for the Kia Sportage S. 2nd place was the the the Ford Edge. I say this but want to point out that by the time you add the features to the Edge to get it equal to the Sportage, you are roughly $10K more than the Sportage. The Honda CR-V was nice as well - but for what you get for the money - you just can't beat the Sportage.
Glad you liked the video! And congrats on your new Sportage! You'll love it!
The way you sync up the audio with all the trims levels and options is a great touch
Thanks! We want people to be able to find the ideal trim for them
My mother just got a 2017 used Sportage. I just drove it and was very impressed. Solid feeling vehicle and sharp looks. Without the badge on it you’d think it was a Luxury vehicle.
You can’t be serious
Well, unlike other Kias I dont think anyone would mistake this for mainstream. If the interior looked like the new Cadenza or Telluride, then yes it would be luxury.
I absolutely love my new 2020 Sportage SX AWD Turbo. Just retired from FCA after 34 years of driving their vehicles and MB back when they were married to Daimler Benz. Started researching different vehicles, test driving and decided on the loaded SX Turbo which is absolutely amazing to drive, very well tuned. In Love ♥️♥️♥️ Great video guys!
Thanks! And congrats on your new Sportage!
Car Confections Thank you 👍🏼
Can you give us an update after owning the car three years later?
@@ericjones363 No issues with the vehicle, at all. Love it, handles great on the road and in the Winter months. Is very well maintained and kept in the garage when not in use.
@relentless3735 Awesome. Would you recommend it to someone for Uber driving full time?
Good looking car , love the interior and everything ..It has a reasonable price . Thank u guys 💪
I'm digging the macan-esk + stinger looks , way better looking than the previous version. 😁👍
The Kia Sportage looks amazing! I want to take a drive in this car.
Great, long car review man. Good speaking too. No awkward moments
Thanks, Bryce! We appreciate it! 👍
Thank you for the review guys! It was VERY in depth and informative, and I just purchased one after test driving for myself plus your in-depth video. You didn't hit on the "modes" (ECO, SPORT, NORM) during the test drive which really is a GREAT feature (but was able to look up the difference in MPG on the web). I looked at the CRV, Escape, and CX - was really impressed with the options and price point of the Sportage. Thanks again guys!
Glad to hear our video was helpful in your decision! Congrats on your new Sportage! What trim did you choose?
@@CarConfections The S package - but it had many upgrades. The only ones I didn't get were the 8-way power seats and the seat warmers/ventilators. I LOVE the panoramic moon roof!!!
BTW.... she is pearl white with the powder coat black sport rims.... BEAUTIFUL car! I named her "Kira Whitely" LOL.... See what I did there? My son would be rolling his eyes at the dad pun. But I truly do enjoy this car - I've had many - and even though it isn't the turbo - she gets up and goes when she needs to! I tried the paddle shifters in sport mode once.... and she really does get it! Excellent in turns, the lane assist and blind spot monitoring are AWESOME! The collision avoidance is great in Houston traffic as well - even though it may be a LITTLE pre-preemptive - but welcomed non the less! Do you guys have an email for Car Confections? I'll send you a pic! Thanks again to you guys!
@@Madswol63 haha nice name! We've had issues with email attacks so I won't post our email address publicly here, but she sounds like a really nice color combo! Have a good one man!
@@CarConfections - I hear you about email.... haven't been attacked but get a ton of spam through my site. You guys keep up the good work!
I have watched a lot of reviews on this, yours us definately the best and most useful, I am off to buy the EX next week
Glad you liked it!
Can you give us an update on the car 3 years later?
Kia has been on a roll lately
Ventilated seats and 8 speaker 320 watt harmon hardon audio are also on the EX trim with tech package!
Great review. Glad to see the active safety features being added to the Sportage. I may consider one of these in a few months. Also, this S trim seems like a really good value.
Thank you! And yes, the S does pack a lot of equipment in for the price
Thanks for the comprehensive review. Informative and will help me in my quest for next car!
Glad to hear it! We'd love for you to subscribe if you haven't already!
OMG so beautiful!!😍😍 nice video👍🏽👍🏽
Have a great weekend!
You too :)
You guys are legends.
Lol thanks man 😎😂
My daughter-in-law just went from her four year old top-of-the-line Soul to a new top-of-the-line CRV. I really wish they would’ve gotten the Sportage.
They're going to regret the Honda CR-V purchase...crappy turbo engine & CVT
Howdy, great review as always!😸😻
I just bought a nightfall edition and love it one of the things I also do like is it does not have the auto start which to me ain’t nothing more than another way to wear out your starter quicker I do love Kia products they are very quality cars we also have a 2020 soul which we love
I love the 2019 Kia sportage it’s very Stylish and a great price!!!
something that is important to drivers in a big city with lots of parking decks is how thick the door is. like the size profile for the door paneling and how much room there is to shimmy out of the car in tight spaced.
I just bought one of these. Id say in your scenario this car would be a tight fit. This seems wider than a ford escape and rav4, and Id say the doors are about average in width. They seem a little heavier than some thinner doors ive seen. Something I prefer in case u get t-boned :D. But there are no parking garages where I live in a small town
Nice review car confection
This was a really great review, thanks guys :)
Awesome! Glad you liked it! 😀
Really good review of the trims and differencez
Thanks! So glad you found it helpful! We'd really appreciate if you would subscribe, of you haven't already since it helps us a lot!
Nice review 👍
Really thorough, very well done!!! Please do the Hyundai Tucson 🙏🏽
Thanks! We have reviewed the 2019 Tuscon already and plan on checking out the 2020 version as soon as we can!
Despite it have great styling I rarely see these on the road but one nip pick is that I hate manufactures putting turn signals and reverse lights at the bottom bumper that makes NO SENSE TO ME whatsoever.
Did you get the Maxima yet ??????😍
Agreed. Because id I'm in a much taller vehicle it may be a bit difficult for me to see.
No lol 😂
The Sportages don’t hold their resale value and overall don’t hold up too well. Interior panels rattle and squeak almost straight from the dealership and engine noise is prevalent in the cabin, even at lower speeds. Passengers often report feeling cramped die to the sloping, small rear windows and owners complain about a lack of usable trunk space as it’s shallow and the wheel well protrude quite a lot.
@Pyar Squared i had a fully loaded 2012 Sportage, and had no issues from it for 6 years. I just outgrew it.
I completely agree. Everytime I see a Honda Pilot-ish car with the blinkers at the bottom, I cringe. They have aaaaaallllll that space up top... but can't seem to put it all in one place. It seems like a lazy afterthought. Additionally, does that position make them more difficult to swap out bulbs?? I don't wanna remove the wheel or jack the car up just to change a bulb.
Great review guys
Thanks, Ryan! 🙂
KIA, if you read Car Confections' comments then please take note from a mid 50 yr old who owns a 2017 Mazda6 GT that gets great fuel mileage! In my opinion that where you have dropped the ball. Also not a big fan of all the buttons. Besides those two negatives I have to admit the Sportage is very appealing visually & the size & price is perfect for a single guy like myself!
I know I heard about the Tucson and Sportage pano roofs having issues, some exploded while people were driving them. Google for some examples. Hope they got those issues fixed once and for all.
Hry connfections please review sx and LX model nice video by the way!
I want sx!
can someone tell me why the lights are flashing so much? kind of distracting. other than that, i love this car. looking to purchase one myself
It's an effect caused by the cameras frame rate and doesn't actually happen in real life
I'm curious as I'm watching the test drive why the front seats are shaking if it's a smooth ride.
Could you do the sx turbo please?
Great review gentlemen as always. Hey did you decide on a car yet?
Thanks! Not yet
Looks like a black hatchback. Nice job 👍 on the review.
Thanks!
Did they solve the engine fire issue on these?
Yes. That issue was on earlier models of the previous generation
Kia is a Korean brand not Japanese
Right...
I want this car in sx 250 hp with the roof racks on the top
Me too
I'm trying to decide between the Tuscon and the Sportage base model. I could get a better deal with the Tucson, but the im afraid that the 2.0 engine would not do in good job on hills or make it boring.
What do you think?
The difference in power is just under 20 hp. While you might be able to notice it, there won't be a huge difference overall.
Don’t buy either of them, I drive sportage , it’s a worst car ever. Tucson shares the platform with it. It is somewhere perfect until you hit the highway with somewhat rough surface . By “rough” I mean most of roads in USA. They use very cheap auto glass and noise insulation is bad. Tuscon has soft suspension which better for bumpy roads, and design is cleaner, but 2.4l is a good idea, it takes sportage to 60mph in 9 seconds. Sportage has krell audio, which is way better.
Ive not been in the Tucson. I just bought a 2020 sportage. The 2.4 is just fast enough to put a smile on my face when i floor it coming out of a turn. The sport suspension is a little more bumpy but VERY responsive for a larger car. Id imagine 20 less hp would be fine, but without the smile. No reason not to test drive them both. Good luck!
@@evers6214Can you give us an update on the car three years later?
@@ericjones363 i have had a very positive experience with my kia sportage. Bought it new. 3 years ago, its our main family car. Its been on several long road trips. 61,000 miles now. Have not had any problems. Just replaced the tires, Brakes are getting worn ill be servicing those soon. Other than oil changes and wiper blades have not had to do anything else it’s been rock solid.
In sport mode its really fun to drive the 2.4l has really good kick in lower gears. Trying to pass someone on the highway with some adult passengers will remind you its still a 4 cylinder though.
Ride quality is a bit on the rough side. Long trips are not as comfortable as my minivan or other small suvs in this class. Its by design though, this car has a tight suspension that just STICKS to the road, no matter what.
All in all im very happy with my choice to buy it when i did. Excellent value for what i paid. Now i see KIA has higher prices puts them up along toyota and honda so i think in today’s market harder to recommend vs those but depends a bit on personal preference. So far quality has been solid. Will see how the next 3 years goes. :)
Its unfortunate that they changed the shape for 2021... this model was sexy. Also changing the shape adds to devaluation of previous models
Once again another great video.
The Exterior:
Looks great overall but the front fascia doesn't look too good in my opinion. Also the key fob looks great.
Interior: NO CCOMPLAINTS HERE. Well executed design.
All of this for the price seems like a good deal especially if my assumptions are correct Kia will offer a nice warranty with it.
Not a fan of all the buttons. Maybe it's because I've gotten use to my Mazda6 2017 which has NO buttons!!
Awesome video
Kia is going to enter Indian market this year
What is Kia's status in US Market
And what to expect from Kia
Kia and Hyundai share the same platform for most vehicles are similar so for example the Sportage and Tuscon are similar but differ as well. Kia is a nice vehicle overall.
@@piyush6089 thanks brother
Good review!
Odd styling, chintzy interior panels, small cargo space and just single USBs for each row (What is this, 2010?) rule this car out for me.
While the interior may look a little basic, everything is very solid. And most cars didnt have USBs in 2010. Nice try.
Andrew M Most did not, but many did.
Get an EX trim with tech package which gives you all of the same features as an SX trim!
Korey Mayo Except for the turbo engine which is the best part of the SX trim.
Love this Unit, i actualiy have a kia soul, love it, but this one got my eye capture, but, That Tail signal light at the bumper zone! is killing me, why WHYE
same!! currently own a soul as well & the sportage is very eye catching
Am I the only one seeing multiple lights go crazy on the vehicle? It also sounds like a loud engine for being a brand new car?
The loud engine is the GDI. Normal. And I dont know what your seeing but I dont see any random lights.
Nice car guys. A big seller in the UK, as well as the Hyundai Tucson. Auto stop start is itself a con, and will over time cause premature wear on the engine and ancillaries.
Interesting that it's a big seller in the UK since it sales figures are fairly low here...and the Tuscon is the same way
Car Confections Cars are a bit more expensive in the UK, so the greater value of the Hyundai vehicles really comes into play there.
Did they take the “S” badge off an Mini?
No
What is the difference between sportage 2019 and 2020?
One is 2019 and the other is 2020
Lane keep assist standard, android and apple car play standard, 8 in screen standard, hba standard, slightly different exterior accents and structure difference, probably forgetting something
mohamed hassan same. 4 generation apple car play. Rear camera
You don't open the hood 🤔
How do you hide the sunroof , or can you
There is a button on the roof to open and close the sunshade
Car Confections ok , so is it an actual sliding shade , or is it auto darkening
@@Terrysoddy sliding shade
HM Car Reviews reviewed this on his channel. The one he reviewed is the GT Line. Those were UK spec cars he did.
Wow cheers for the shoutout dude. Loved this guys review, he done a great job explaining the different trim levels. You're right I did have the GT Line. Was a comfortable car to drive.
@@HMCarReviews No problem, I thought your Sportage view was great and this remeinded me of it. Hopefully you will get more viewers and subs soon.
I had the previous generation and I liked it alot. I got a good deal on it. But (and it's a big BUTT), the competition is more efficient, more spacious, in addition to being LARGER! I averaged about 22 MPGs with the 2.4. The Sorento with the same engine got 24... WTF?! Even it's sister, Hyundai Tucson, is more efficient (though with a different set of engines). This car is a standard trophy wife: pretty to look at but that's about it.
Excellent Comments!!!
Just about the only car you can buy (new) in America with a sun tint band on the windshield.
Does it have a CD player?
What's a cd player?
@@JP-ri4kt I think he meant an SD player. There is no such thing as a CD player
cd player?..what is that?
The 2021 Sportage please.
2020 Kia Forte review
Spare tire?
yes, under the trunk mat.
A decent sized donut. Very easy to access under the rear cargo panel
I like the Honda CR-V more. The Sportage actually looks Korean like the Telluride, Soul, and Cadenza/K900 unlike Stinger, Forte, Sorento, Optima, Rio, Niro.
But its got a cvt
Would you recommend for a college student or late high schools student.
We don't see why not. It would make a great car to travel around with friends in comfort!
A new car for a student? What drugs are you on?
George L the type of drugs that allow me to buy a new car. I did this thing called WORK while I was in school and out of it.
Yash Patel I also worked, and paid my tuition and bills. The last thing I wanted as a student was a loan for a new car. Insurance for under 25 makes is through the roof to begin with! Yeah... no. I smell a trust fund baby.
Darkivaz- AAA no. It’s called full ride scholarships and more. They pay not just for school but for all living expenses except luxury. Thats money my family doesn’t have to use for school so for all I care I could buy a new BMW
this is 2019 not 2020 2020 has different lights in front among other things
It's subtle but I can assure you that this is the 2020 with the updates
@@CarConfections I just checked out kia site in Canada apparently the 2 top trims for 2020 get the different lights rest stay same as 2019. Perhaps it's similar in U.S. ?
I have one
Ok very cool
But is simple
Yo tengo un ferrari
Es muy simple
Never been sold on Kia's "Tiger-Tooth" corporate grille for all their cars!!!!!...Interior is just ok nothing to write home about. And if you just saw the vehicle from the A-pillar rearward, it doesn't look too bad including the rear end/taillights which i kinda like. But overall I much prefer the Hyundai Tucson with it's corporate cascading grille, very clean design & much more luxurious better interior than this vehicle.
No CVT and no auto stop/start!
Huge plus!
The only thing lacking is exhaust
Test driving in BrannonCrossing LOL
Haha yep 😂
Not a fan of the loud noise
Looks funny in the front. The Seltos looks way better
I’d prefer my moms 2016 Sportage ax
Sx
Cheack horan in a reviews please
My feeling has always been that the sportage has always been overpriced. I bought a Sorento V6 in 2013 as the sportage was not priced competitively

I like the exterior but not the interior 😕
It's pronounced 'sportaaaaj' peasant!
Not in America. It is marketed as sport - age
Andy's Shop in Canada it’s pronounced Spor-tage, just like in Europe. Even the insurance companies pronounce it that way. Everyone does up here.
