      YEAH wtf are you talking about? Steinman just wanted some sound effect or recording. Todd Rundgren is the one who made it happen. And _that_ is why Jim says TR is the only person he has worked with who he considers a genius.

    Bat Out Of Hell is reaching 45 years old soon this year and will always be a masterpiece. We have lost two geniuses.
    RIP Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf.

    This is just my humble opinion of course but I think that is one of the most amazing pieces of guitarmanship ever commit to analogue tape. WOW Todd! Thanks for the upload.

    Was deeply saddened when I heard the news a few weeks ago of Jim's passing. One of the legendary song writers of our time.

    Would really love to hear the isolated guitar track from start to finish. I had an art teacher who said (paraphrasing) "what makes a masterpiece is not just that the whole painting is genius, but that every unique element within the painting is also genius."

      You were lucky to have such a wise teacher. Most of us see the painting. Appreciate the history, the subject, etc. You experience the painting then break it down.

      So am I. I love his music so much! My dad got me a Bat Out of Hell shirt a few weeks after he passed. And man, I wish I could turn back to the 70s to see him live!

    I grew up with this album and song in my house for so many years, add Queen, Tubular Bells, Bonnie Tyler, Pipe Organ Music, its no wonder i have a great ear........

    I love Jim Steinman and was sad to hear about his passing. I still play his album Bad for Good regularly. Bat out of Hell was basically 80% Steinman, 10% Meatloaf and 10% Rundgren.

      More like 40% Steinman, 40% Rundgren and 20% Meatloaf. I'd give Bad for Good 60% Steinman, 40% Rundgren imho.... There was no record like Bat without TR.

Meatloaf" The World Has Lost Two Amazing Beautiful Soul's. Todd Is In My Kindest Thoughts. Bat Outta Hell Will go Down in History as The Best Ever Collaboration of Geniuses.       I've always thought the same about how healthy he looks. Reading a bit about him lately, he had suffered for years with chronic back pain with successive surgeries making it worse.

    Aside from the motorcycle and all, how does that blue dry-erase marker float above the soundboard?

      Wow well spotted. I've never noticed that. It's so weird that it took me a little bit to work out what was going on. It's actually the shadow of each of the sliders. You can see at the beginning when Meat is raising his right hand it interferes with the shadows. What makes this even weirder is that the other sliders that are not in front of the pen, have weaker different shadows. It looks like that there are 2 or 3 lights coming from camera left creating different shadows of varying strength. Really weird though.

      That's what I always assumed, but I never knew it was one take with the guitar solo. There were no locking trems, and even a perfectly set up Fender bridge can only take so much, so how on Earth did that guitar stay in tune?

      Any vintage tremolo abuse would do it. A perfect setup guitar would then stay in tune for the solo or there about "sufficiently" in tune.

      On both this and another doco where Steinman describes it, they both say he just adjusted some knobs on his amp.
