      Abdikarin Hirsi hehe. I’m just a hack! I just really wanted to help guys see what they’re in for if they jump in head first like I did.

    I don’t care what anyone says. The old pre emissions 12.7 was a money-making chunk of cast iron. Got to be in the top 5 best Diesel engines ever made for truck/bus use.

    I like it. I tried to make one that grabbed the inside of the liner but it just couldn't do it. Your tool looks like it would work great.

    this only works on pre egr motors. later model egr motors the rod journal was bigger so the rod big end would not fit thru the liner. you need to pull the power pac all together . be careful you do not bent the piston cooler when removing or installing the power pac.

    Maybe a torch multiplier would help....just like the one is used to remove those huge rusted bolts from those heavy machinery.....just a suggestion.

    I made a similar tool but used double plate all around and put anti seize lube on the bolt and an impact had them all out in like 10 minutes

    would that work on a 14l

    • @BobFM1795
      @BobFM1795  3 года назад

      I've been told that it won't work on a 14L because the rod journal won't fit through the liner. i.e. you have to pull the piston and the liner together.

    Why do I always see this whacko shit for pulling liners on small diesels when all you really have to do is size a piece of hard wood and place it between the lower liner and a crank web and turn the crank shaft to press them out? Forgive me for being THAT way but this is Navy Engineman A-School stuff and I have never had any issues with any small diesel doing it that way. The larger diesels I have worked had jacking bolt facilitation on the top of the liner.

      spencer marshall I guess I should’ve went to a-school, lol. It took me two days to get those liners out! You are forgiven for being “that guy” and thank you for your service.

    I use an electric Milwaukee impact on stuff like that. would pull it out with ease in few seconds.

      I could tell your the type of mechanic to have a dumb looking face once you break a 1000 tool by using an impact

      Portal: how would if break and Milwaukee tools aren’t 1000.00 and this homemade ass tool damn sure isn’t 1000.00 either. What in the hell are you talking about!
