I can't imagine him not getting an oscar for this role. I don't think i've ever seen someone being so praised from only a trailer haha..
Sadly The Irishman will probably win all the awards.

Joaquin is just tired of the fakeness of Hollywood but he enjoys his craft.

A real artist😎😂
When Joaquin realizes he can tell the interviewer anything and they eat it up so he starts confusing her
Lol it was great
He likes to have fun with interviews lol
as soon as i read this that part came on
what part was that?
Joaquin should get an Oscar for the acting in this interview
Rastivicy & Co u don’t get the joke?
Hes gone full fake Hollywood believing in his illusion even though hes played the same character since the master which was a while now. Hes one dimensional acting crazy as hes probably pilled out of his mind.

Ben Rader honestly Jimmy was a joke of an interviewer yet he gets more views KMT

Anuradha Gunaratne and I’d much rather look at her than Jimmy 😏

He always makes up little lies when he's trying to answer a question he doesn't know how to answer to, then he comes out and says it's a lie LOL. Too cute.

Lmao people are so dumb these days, that Jimmy Kimmel interview was actually scripted to promote the movie. You'd understand if you watched the movie first.

I would never want to be an interviewer... but if I was, I REEEEALLY wouldn’t want to interview Joaquin. I would be sooo intimidated. He’s so hard to read and follow! Every time I watch an interview with him, at the end I’m just like ?!?!? I’m a fan tho!
Elizabeth Toye he was awesome!
I think he likes to be hard to read, so you never get a real idea of who he is as a person so it won’t affect the range of characters he can play
Irma Naranjo that’s the good way golf thinking of it but is a stretch 🤣
Nah, he's fine in interviews if the person asks intelligent questions..And he just likes to mess with people a bit..

He's really the Joker.
Fantastic interviewer! She sounds so focused - takes note of what he says and responds so thoughtfully - and does not try to elicit a reaction, just waits for Joaquin to respond. I think even Joaquin appreciates this and jokes around less and is more to the point with his responses than usual.
-Did you watch any video for the Joker dance?
Joaquin Phoenix: Yes but no but yes but no but yes.
I saw the movie two nights ago and I'm still recovering. The final 25 minutes or so is so frightening. You could feel the nervousness of the whole theater. I dont see how Joker "condones" violence, if anything its the opposite. It shows how scary it is.
Exactly!
I’m watching this movie because I like Joaquin Phoenix’s work. He’s truly a amazing actor.

I saw the film two days ago. It's one of the best films I've ever seen. The direction, the cinematography, the music, the costumes, the art direction, the editing, the screenplay........and of course, the ACTING! are all BRILLIANT! There are 3 gruesome killings but .....it's part of the film.

Losing that much weight when you don't have it to lose literally takes time off your life.
Organs take damage and while everything heals to an extent for sure there is a toll to pay for what he did.
Much respect for to him, there are no free passes and he obviously was willing.
Reminds of when Christian Bale did similar in the machinist.
Spills51 not really if he did it over and over maybe but your organs don’t take damage from just losing weight unless you stop eating then you thyroid will take damage first
@@grindnshine5847 "You start to go mad when you lose that amount of weight in that amount of time."
This is a direct quote from Pheonix.
And ,yes, you do FACTUALLY take negative damage to your mind and body when losing 50+ lbs in a short amount of time.
On top of that it isn't someone who is overweight and losing to get healthy.
He was at an average weight and lost weight being put into ANOREXIA.
He was malnourished, put his body in a state of shock by the drastic amount he lost within a short time frame.
Anyone who loses that amount of weight within a short time along with not having it to lose to begin with, will have their vitals and bloodwork completely go out of whack AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY.
Our organs are finite...they have a certain amount of abuse they can take and when repaired and put back to normal it is simply not the case that the abuse doesn't have a cost.
Not sure why you would think otherwise...It is pretty standard biology.
@@Spills51 you are 100% correct about damage done to the body with quick, extreme weight loss. It's good to see Joaquin back to a healthy weight.
Phoenix's whole bit about the dance inspiration, particularly from 4:53 to 5:15, was absolutely hilarious.

You can tell he finds interviews and this whole thing awful but he is incredible in his work.
this is my favourite movie of all time and I thank the stars that Joaquin said yes to this role because they could not have cast it better.
And his brother River was the one set to be the big time Hollywood actor but Joaquin Phoenix is in the top five actors that have ever stepped foot in Hollywood
Very true but in all honesty if River hadn't passed away, I believe they BOTH are impeccable actors. -RIP River Phoenix
roxxylala26 :(
River lives through Joaquin. He would have been so proud of his brother carrying on his success. It's like River's spirit went into him.
River told him that Joaquin was a better actor.
John Wiley if not for River he wouldn’t have an acting career. River was the one noticed on the streets their parents had them working on. Supported his entire family from 14 years old. And Joaquin has finally spoke about his brother and gives all credit to River for his acting career. River brought home raging bull when Joaquin was 15/16 and said you will go back to acting. Didn’t ask him, told him. And he listened. Those are his own words. Not mine. River would have been one of of the greatest actors or the greatest actor of all time had he lived.
Joaquin is just... Unsettling in an uncomfortably elating way. Even in the interview!

Although the movie overall was good, literally it being character motivated, Joaquin Phoenix's performance definitely is Oscar worthy. The emotion that was meant to be conveyed in every scene was conveyed perfectly, anxiety, confusion, and especially content/happiness. In this awful way, you root for him despite his actions moving from morally grey to straight evil because every outcome is cathartic.

The fact that he kept making us question whether the video was real or not is such an awesome nod to the movie as a whole

I love Joaquin's voice. It's soothing to listen to.
I feel like this film affected him I think putting the emotion into his character and becoming the joker was tough because Joker is a messed up character and it could leave him messed up but he is an AMAZING ACTOR

You should see him in 'Her', 'The Master' and 'You Were Never Really Here'. All fantastic performances.
He’s such a wind up merchant. Love it
Hope I’m not the only one. But as an old movie buff, I’m fangirling over the fact that Joaquin was inspired by a ray bolger dance number.
