The part that distinguishes you from other youtube posters on SAAB, is the music and detailed editiing. You are doing a great job. I have an 08 XWD Aero, and you literally are helping your sponsors. It is inspirational. But tbh, Krona sent the wrong downpipe to me, I watched the performance shop order it, but 4 Uber rides later, still waiting. I'll try to make a video for you, for fun.
I’m looking to probably add a DO88 intercooler to my 2.3 LPT 9-5. It’s had a remap to about 230bhp (from 185) and my mechanic is talking about a better intercooler as the next step. Thanks for the videos.
About that wheel well....just last week I found that if the wells aren't super muddy I just spray some Armor-All( I use the cheap Dollar General equivalent, works the same) on them and wipe with a disposable paper shop towel. Takes a few mins. and makes for a nice detailed look. Oh yeah....another good vid!
Not sure if anyone is still around here, but my 2008 SAAB 9-3 2.0t is on a BSR Stage 2 tune. Having some issues when I get to max boost and it almost feels like the brakes are catching. someone mentioned to me the possibility that my stock rubber piping could be collapsing under vaccum causing not enough air to be let in. One of my other worries was brakes because I had a rusted caliper. I changed the caliper and stil had the issue (rotors aren't warped). the third possibility is that it's brake lines but I'm now less inclined to think that because the issue only occurs at max boost pressures. I'm kinda fishing for opinions, but if most would agree that it is intercooler piping I will just go ahead and get the do88 intercooler and charge pipes. thanks in advance
hard to say - it could be. see if the existing piping is too soft, the pipes are all pretty stiff rubber on the 2.0 so I'm thinking your issue is elsewhere. it could be related to the tune
I've been thinking about getting one of those or the maptun IC (They're the same I think) for the TurboX. It would be really interesting to see of it makes a difference. Lower temperatures is better for the engine anyway and if they engine is cooled in a better way.
Hahaha that's really funny. Had the exact same problem, the intercooler hose to the metal pipe that goes in to the engine didn't clamp as it should so I lost all power.... funny it happened to us both
Id like to do sum highway pulls my 9-3 vs ur turbo x, should be lil more equal now that u have you sum bolt on..lol ur friend Saab bro NC.. good job btw!!
I actually started to mod mine I'm doing a rear bumper conversion to the 08 aero bumper new rims and tune engine dress up getting ready to take my car to car shows
Ordered one for my 08 Aero, my only question is did you need to buy a new radiator in order for it to fit? or would an Oem one still fit with the do88 intercooler
I know it haves nothing to do with this video but... I want to tune a 2003 9-3 1.8t, and I'm not sure which software-only tune, stage1 to get. I'm leaning toward BSR, but there is also Noobtune (cheapest, with great comunity), Maptune and Hirsch (damn expensive). Which one should I choose and why? What are the chances it will cause engine damage down the road? Any advice, experiences, will be much appreciated.
If you're worried about engine damage/getting a quality tune, I think Maptun is the best for the four cylinder. Their tunes are very high quality, and won't push your motor too hard.
Tuning by MPS is very good. Mike is a great guy, been doing it for years and great prices by far. Had mine for a while now and no problems at all, going to get stage 2 very soon from him
I liked the video. Curious, I've been trying to find an upgraded do88 Intercooler for my 05 93arc looked on E euro but can't find it. Any idea if do88 makes one for that year? Or where I can find one? Thanks
Thanks! I just checked, and it looks like they've got just the intercooler, or the full kit (with black, red, or blue hoses). www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/177559/Performance-Intercooler-Kit-BIGPACK-Black-BIG120S/
I’m looking forward to the Dyno info but how does she feel when driving ? ie turbo lag, can you feel more toque? I’m planning on doing the same on my X but I don’t have a 4 wheel dyno here! Great video
Thanks Greg! Everything just feels better...I'm not quite sure how to explain. The car feels like it's working less and is also smoother and whatnot; hard to put into words!
@@AutoAutopsy When an engine is allowed to breathe more fully it responds in kind. IMHO. I've done this type of mod on other vehicles and had the same initial response as you. It just ran better over all. Great post, Great video. And I am amped to try this on my 2005 9-3 linear.
any issues with do88 hoses generally (charge pipes or coolant hoses?) I noticed you swapped coolant lines also. How have they held up? Any leaks or fitment issues?
IC has been perfect; I did have an issue where I overtightened the clamp on the small coolant hoses on the expansion tank, which caused it to slowly leak. Because of that, those two small hoses have been put back to stock. No fitment issues tho
Lets hope for good results! Have you changed the air filter yet? K&n? I have been considering to order maptun intercooler, but did not know if it would be worth it. Guess we will see soon :D
If it’s a 2006 5 speed, I assume it’s a 2.0? This video goes over some common problems. I’ll also link a video with a buyers guide: ruclips.net/video/4LDQ93VMlww/видео.htmlsi=yEfH8s226WX3VRMz & ruclips.net/video/tmZUWm-DWbg/видео.htmlsi=QFC2yue0IIeIspgW
Basically you should not make any power gains because you are driving Trionic 8 and same issue with Trionic 7, no gains with hardware mods without the software tune. If you would upgrade an oldschool T5, small gains would be possible cause of the cooler air (~50 F less = 3% power gain, in this case ~ 5% = 15 HP on Aero X from factory (if it would a T5...)
Why not put the condenser behind the intercooler instead of having the intercooler sandwiched? I put my intercooler on the front to get cooler air especially since the radiator and condenser get really hot
Didn't think of it!! with how the condenser is mounted, that would be pretty hard, and it also wouldn't leave much space between the rad and condenser :/

thank you! and sorry about the downpipe, I'm sure you'll get it sorted
Im so glad I found someone who is building a 9-3 correctly.

I just bought a 08 aero and have very quickly fell in love with car love the channel have learned alot already

nice!
This is great! I'm going to be doing this on my Aero and there are no videos on it. This'll be very helpful, thanks!
Do88 provided excellent instructions with the parts as well; definitely would've been a bit more difficult without those! lol

Nice. Lucky you, to get all this things for free :)
It's for SCIENCE!
Is it true that the 2.8 only has turbo on one side of engine?
The 2.8 doesn't have an asymmetric turbo. But the 3.0 does which is garbage
Yes, only one turbo, on the right side of the engine!

дружише ты разбираешься в этом очень нужен совет ,
does intercooler upgrade require tuning or stock is ok?
Stock is fine, the tune will just help maximize the benefit of adding the bigger intercooler
so wait what,, the cooler u put in is like in the middle!! what is the cooler in front of it, and then one on the back!!i see 3 radiators in total
Swiss Choco pretty sure the one in front of the inter cooler is the air condenser for the ac and not for the motor cooling system
It is. from front to back it goes AC condenser (mini radiator looking thing), intercooler, and then radiator!
@@AutoAutopsy oh, lmao never knew that.... I only heard about Radiator 😄
I love your car

Does do88 supply install directions?
yep, on their website there should be a pdf, as well as priced instructions that come with it

Yes it does.
