Holy crap, talk about a video I thought I would never see. Glad you finally got the pipes installed. I remember the email you sent expressing surprise that I had included the intake pipe portion of the kit as well; the reason that was included was because I had bought the "big pack" version of the do88 kit with the intention of replacing everything with do88 (except my Taliaferro CAI), then as you know I only put the intercooler in and got too lazy to put the rest of the piping in. Luckily, that meant a really good deal for you on the piping after I sold the car. They were ceramic coated black not only for looks, but to prevent heat soak and keep IATs down. Consider how close that cold side charge pipe is to the front exhaust up pipe in addition to the generally extreme underhood temps of the 2.8 9-3, and it really only makes sense. This should help you make more power and stay in boost longer, especially on hot days. -Zavier
Maaate! So glad you confirmed the filter configuration. My mechanic explained for the small gain with the open filter and heat shield, the cleaning maintenance increases. If you don’t keep the open filter clean the performance gain is lost.. I’ve got the Hirsch stage 1 with the do88 plumbing and inter cooler… And I love it! The motor is so much happier!
Will be purchasing mines when I am done with my motor rebuild which will be very soon. With this, this should be useful especially with the heat "index" under the hood. I will get this along with the coolant silicone hoses. Will send pictures. BTW: my Saab v6 that I am working on is the same color as the blue one that you have restored!!!!
Excellent vid. Love the black powered coating over the polished. I’ve been looking for a used DO88 kit for a while now for my 2.8T. If you find another let me know ASAP!!!
While it does look very nice, according to do88's info it does offer performance gains. I can see why since it's less restrictive over the stock pipes. It has less harsh bends and doesn't reduce down as much as the oem's. With that being said the pipes are best paired with an upgraded intercooler and tune to unleash the full potential.
