Just use the force hollow all the time and stay at whiping lenght. It's not that hard once you figure out his tells. That's said though, his un-dodgeble sweeping attack was a stupid idea gameplay-wise.
it's terrible. if you don't predict it, there's no way to get out of the way. i just finished the boss fight, and it made me mad from start to finish

@Mussell Bestbrook yup. The game literally spends this entire area teaching you top stay on the move from those bombs, and yet all of a sudden we're supposed to just know that we have to stand still. Crappy game design.
Once I learned the boss he became easier and easier. I think I died on him about ten times though. I died on Lust about 7 or 8 times after That angel joined in. But then again I fought Lust before I killed Avarice or Sloth, Only Wrath and Pride are left now.

GL with Wrath, his stage lasts FOREVER, quite well designed though.

He can't suck you in if you're in force hollow mode

I just use the boomer rang in force mode at a distance . Takes a long time but its safer .
He grab you even force mode
Okay yes, this does work thank you. Dodging back can help but it's easier to use Force Hollow and stay midrange against him spamming the crossblade. I spent hours beforehand trying to get him but after I switched to this it took less than 30 minutes. Just get a combo in on him every time he opens up, dodge and parry his attacks, and watch out for when he uses voice lines, those foretell his vomit attacks and his suction attacks. When he winds back dodge back at least three times, you can dodge just the glowing part of the tentacle.
This one was a tough battle. Honestly tougher than any of the other seven sins. Took me like 3 hours on apocalyptic with low health attributes as every attack is a one hit kill. Just used storm hollow, perfectly timed counters, as soon as he started the suck animation back up and use force hollow.
I'm playing on Apocalyptic difficulty,his move where he sucks you in instantly kills you,I'm past this boss,I'm at The Scar now.
That also instantly kills me except I'm playing on challenging lol
I was wondering if a different build centered around health would make a difference? I'm also playing on challenging.
Pro tip for anyone who needs it and didn't know. You can cancel out gluttony's concentrated acidic blasts (the ones he spits when you're out of range) with a well timed throw from the weapon salvation. The window is pretty gracious and it's about as hard as dodging them. Don't know if it's cheesable or not but it works.
Loving the game so far, but honestly this is one of the most poorly designed bosses I think I've ever seen in a game, ever. Absolutely no room for error if you're playing on a higher difficulty. You gotta be able to predict the damn future.

"The easiest of all" yeah okay, has 1 easily avoidable attack has poisonous projectile that do 1/3 damage and slows you and stays on the ground so if it doesnt hit you initially it still can. Has an undodgeable whip attack youre supposed to run away from but requires perfect timing since you need to be in range to do damage at some point and has a sucking attack that will one shot you and if you happen to be close trying to do damage when he starts the attack. Then the second half you can only damage him when he decides to do one specific move. Other than that you're just dodging and running while underwater. And if you cant get the janky bomb into the janky suction mechanic when he decides to do the move he blows a bunch of shit back at you that is also near impossible to dodge.
it's like the same people that worked on avengers enemies did this boss too......lol

How to ruin a game with one boss :
Thanks for the tips man, ive got trough the first phase most of the time, but i didnt notice the floating bombs, i was in panic mode :D Now i killed the beast nice and easy, thanks again!
You know when he starts sucking 🤣 make sure you're at medium or long range and start dodging and running away from him and you'll survive long enough (it worked for me)

You can also use the force hallow he cant suck you in when you have it activated

@Prensa Amarillista this isn't really like dark souls. Dark Souls is an RPG with pattern-based style of gameplay. it's all about stamina management and timing, he's comparing the boss design, which DS seems to often have some bosses that are a bit too cheap or gimmicky. However I do recommend the Souls series for you, it takes a bit to get used to but it's great fun.
Ancient Dragon? it reminded me of pre-SotFS Ancient Dragon.
just a tip to avoid his sucking attack. first phase when he put is tiny tentacle inside his hand, he will do the sucking attack. as soon you see that happening, keep dodging back as seen in the video.
You don’t get sucked in if you’re in Force Hollow mode,but he does grab you if you get too close.

All darksiders games are fun most people don't like darksiders 3 because it's to hard for them darksiders 3 way harder then 2 and the easiest darksiders game is 1 I really enjoyed 3

I had absolutely no idea how to defeat gluttony.... This helped so much! (Spent a good hour going through trial and error before saying screw it)
Played on reckoning, this boss was so much harder than the final boss lmao.
1. He can't suck you in no matter what hollow as long as you're running in the opposite direction. 2. Utilize your Salvation in Flame hollow and attack him as he swipes at you And Strafe attack with Salvation while he's up spitting goo. Gg

You have to fight him with force hollow the entire time, his not easy otherwise
Which is so dumb considering every other Boss fight up to this one, Sloth, Avarice, Lust allows you to fully fight them as you wish in regards to Hollow forms, attacks etc...this one basically forces you to stay at range and mostly toss Salvation at him with occasionally sneaking in Whip attacks...he has no tell for when he's going to suck, so being in melee is going to risk you getting eaten, which if you're not far enough, even Force Hollow form can get eaten. Like a better design would be to toss Salvation into his mouth when he sucks in air.....
He has so many attacks too...esp compared to the other Sins previously. Def my least favorite...on paper & concept, it's great...but it's so poorly put together that it just sours the whole thing.....esp because of the pigeonholed aspect of how to fight him.....and then his second phase is a snoozefest of waiting forever for him to suck in the Bombs....Best not mess that up as you'll have to wait even longer for it.

Here’s another tip! If you use the storm hollow it’s harder for gluttony to suck you in
Best with storm hollow. Perfect counter from mid range and fire back storm hollow counter. It doesn't take you too close to the boss but still does nice damage. Especially important as you need to be very careful about his... Sucking.... He can spit you out onto his previous spits in which case you are insta dead.
He forgot the most important tool in his arsenal which is that you have a ranged weapon that does some damage basically dodge and chip away at his health until phase 2. After you learn his attack patterns dodging them is easy and adding damage on top of of makes it quick
Impossible mission. I fight for 9 hours and I can not defeat him. How you roll? I do not have it in options on my pc
This was super easy once you get the pattern down. He does a sweep attack. So move to the edges during that. Then he comes out of his shell and begins the sucking attack. Make sure you start dashing away from him when he does it.
When he stops, go in for the attack.
If he goes back into his shell and stands vertical, it’s because he’s gonna start spitting acid into the air. So just run around.
yeah, struggled to beat him 5 or 6 times, than memorized his signals and beat him without any hp lost. Stayed close, used the whip. The sweeping attack starts slowly, so there's plenty of time to go back, the sucking attack is the most dangerous and can instakill - who struggles - just watch at his hands, he folds them before the attack, and that's the 1-2 seconds window to start dodge back.
On phase one can use force the purple one so you don't get pulled in it'll still get you if you're in grabbing range of the mouth
If you swap to force hollow during the suck in it really helps.
If you use the force hollow gluttony will not be able to suck you in, however if you get too close he will still be able to grab you
He won't initiate his suck attack in phase 2! Was waiting forever and he isn't doing it. How do you get him to initiate the suck attack phase 2??
I really hate these boss fights where they just make you learn new rules for one fight.

This boss is cheap. Use force hollow on first phase to avoid being sucked up. Thanks for tip on second phase. Standing still after the mine follows you is key. Had so much trouble trying to guide mines in his mouth. Standing still worked.
With the force hollow you won't get pulled by the sucking atk

if u have upgraded the throwing weapon keep throwing it with fire damage equiped and he shouldnt even damage u at all it takes about 5 min of just running on the outside and inside when he shoots at u

This boss is garbage
With the force you dont get sucked in. Once you get rid of that everything else is pretty easy up to the water part you can also throw your crossblade at him during his spew attack to interrupt it

@@josiahmcclanahan nah you can get sucked in if you hit into it like a moron but no if you are in force when he sucks you dont move unlike other hollows. Trust me I know I've beaten it. "Bud"
What you all don't seem to realize is your all wrong lmao... and somewhat right... at same time. With force hollow you are right he cant suck you in. But if you are close enough to him, he will then grab you and eat you anyways so like the man said you have to stay back far enough to not get grabbed js
@@josiahmcclanahan If you're using Force Hollow, this move really can't attract Fury. But if you're within range Gluttony needs to swallow you after he finishes the initial animation, the attack still connects. You have to pull away as soon as you realize that he's initiating the movement, or you end up being swallowed anyway. Outside that range, you can even stand with Force and hit the fat bastard with Salvation without being pulled by the suction.
Everybody keeps saying this part is hard but like, the only difficulty I had was when I didn't think to launch the bombs at him while he was vacuuming, so-to-speak

"That unavoidable sweeping attack" is not so much unavodable, My first instinct was to switch to the Fire powers to use the triple-jump you get in the air and you can jump over it and do delayed whip hits in the air to stay airborne and either dodge to the side when it slams down or run out of reach and do a charged up fire attack, but I for the love of god I couldn't figure out how to tell if he's gonna grab and munch on you or spit acid, or what to do exactly in phase 2 because it's a gimmick fight
I have tried about 5 times to beat this motherf**** And I told no! I need to rest. And I tried next day, fresh, and... I just keep correct distance and made good evades, and beat this first try! I even haven't used all estus flasks :) Oh, and I played this strenght form and with correct distance, it really actually hasn't sucked me in! ;)
You do so much more damage than I do. I am playing on easy and getting absolutely smoked. I can't jump his attack and I do zero damage
Another tip: If he starting throwing projectiles, use Salvation with Hollow. he immediately stops.

I just defeated this boss on apocalyptic thanks to this guide and my game crashed after I got the stasis hollow and sent me back to Gluttony...

Best way to fight this boss is simply switch to power mode (purple) then he can suck you up (only if you are too close he can suck you ) ;)
Use Force Mode For The Suck Part It Works
This boss took me over hours to beat. I wonder if this boss is the hardest boss that I'll ever meet in this game or if there are harder bosses than this one.
When I'm underwater, why is he not sucking me up? That's what I need him to do to make him suck up the mines.
It's because the bomb is programmed like absolute dogshit. Half the time the suck attack doesn't even grab the thing. And when it does you can the bomb lagging horribly when it's moving.
You can avoid the sweeping attacks too. Just use the force hollow special where you double jump to activate it. Time the jump and ability, and you won’t deal any damage.
And yes, if you use force hollow, you can’t be sucked in if you are at medium distance. If you are close, he can swallow you.

what was your level in this battle? im 50 and i was playing in balanced difficulty but i was losing a lot of hp while getting hit so i switched to lowest difficulty but still the same. I just noticed the amount of hp i lose is almost as same as yours. is my difficulty setting broken or something?
the key is patience. try to attack 3-4 after the swing and 3-5 when the mouth open. during sucking, stay back

The big sweeping attacks are dodge-able, the problem is being perfect every fuckn time.

Just change into attack mode, purple version, whatever it's name is when he's sucking. You can just sit there and he won't be able to suck you. And you get a free attack with bladed circle. Sorry but i really can't remember them names
