    3 months ago today My triglycerides were 191. My LDL was slightly like 100. My doctor wined over my LDL but did not say a word of my triglycerides. So from that point on up until today 90 days later everything is back to normal due to changing my diet over to a carnivor. Interesting note you know my triglycerides are 60.

    I'm wondering here, if your patients' stress levels have been taken into account. Stress can wreak havoc on all the bodily systems (as I'm sure you know, Dr. Cywes.) It can suppress immune & thyroid function, BP, enzyme production & digestion, mental health...literally everything. Since it wasn't mentioned, I thought to raise it as not to be overlooked.

    Excellent video very compelling. I am 69 years old. Been on carnivore for almost a year eating fatty meats. Previously, I suffered from metabolic syndrome, hyper insulinemia, and now hyper lipidemia. I’ve always been an active athlete, but have always had a sugar addiction up until a year ago. I am currently competing as an amateur cyclist and doing CrossFit. I believe I’m a LMHR. I am 5’7.5” tall and weigh 145. Here is my latest bloodwork, total chol-768, HDL-85, tri-117, ldl-350, GLUCOSE-77, BUN-24, CREATININE-1.08, EGFR-75, AST-21, ALT-22, A1c-5.1, protein total, 7.1. Cardiac calcium score 33.
    Overall fitness level excellent, no heart history issues. My question is do I need to also add milk to my diet have been into ketosis for a long time and I’m enjoying the consistent energy that I have when I train.

    I think this video might have just saved my life. I've been in an accute and sudden episode of CFS for two weeks. So much brain fog and bodily exhaustion. This is not typical illness. This is something serious. I sobbed the other day because I couldn't figure out how to use my fork and knife nor had the energy to do so. Walking from one room to another as if I'm an old lady. Keto four months, carnivore one month. Working out with weights 3 to 4 days a week, lost 18 pounds in four months. Two weeks into strict carnivore, and it's like someone unplugged me. I can't work. I can't drive. I can barely get out of bed for more than 1/2 an hour to do one task. So much testing to look at thyroid, EBV virus, Lymes disease, etc. Thyroid was fine and everything else negative. But my blood panel!!! 350 cholesterol, 250 LDL, 44 HDL, and 148 triglycerides. My blood panel, page by page, almost exactly mirrored the female in this video except for me having much lower HDL. I was shocked at the ending. Thought, okay, what the heck! Let's try some milk. Two large glasses today. All my brain fog is gone, vanished. I'm working. If I had to drive somewhere, I could. If I can string three days together like this, I'm getting back to working out. And I'm keeping the milk.

I am much less worried about these numbers now :) Been keto for 18 months and ketovore moving to carnivore for the last year. Just did a 5 day fast and have now lost 65 pounds, almost underweight and looking to start gaining some weight now. 51M, 5'10" 155 (from 221). THANKS DR CYWES!! Ohhh yeah, CAC was 1! I fix CT scanners and my buddy scanned me (legit ordered and sent through proper chain, it cost 45$) and she let me see the results, looked for tumors in my lungs and upper abdomen, pretty cool stuff! QUESTION: When did cholesterol blood tests start being taken? I'm wondering if the timing coincides with when the SAD diet started. The reason I am wondering this is that there may have been a lot of people prior to the cholesterol tests being done and were metabolically healthy who had high LDL results but because they weren't being tested it wasn't known about. I've been low carb for 21 months and my LDL increased 3 times for the blood tests where were done post 7 months on low carb, and my trig/HDL has improved each time. I'm a 65 yo F with CAC of 0 and both the cardiologist and GP recommend statin. In fact I thought my GP was going to have kittens when I got my results from her this week when she told me that I am at a high risk (might have said very high) of heart disease; I don't know if she was concerned, frustrated or angry that I am not following her advice. Interestingly she knows that I am low carb but she never asked what I eat, said anything diet, suggest seeing a dietician or discussed that I might consider changing what I am eating. That to me is a red flag. And she was more interested in the total cholesterol and LDL; but I said that my Trig/HDL ratio is good. I'm very thankful for the people who are providing quality information about low carb and what changes can occur and whether we need to be concerned. I was going to get an LDL particle test done, but according Dr Paul Mason's information I am an LDL hyper responder with a Pattern A.

      it did and the range went down after bringing statins to the market. Earlier times ( I can remember those time bc we in Europe tend to be a little bit behind - trigylcerides e.g. are considered normal up to 180) it was 200 + age. Questionably, if you'd ask me.

    • @jobrown8146
      @jobrown8146 Год назад

      @@kathrin9674 Thanks Kathrin. I've been thinking about this overnight and realised that smoking, which is known/proven? to cause heart disease, was prevalent up until the early 1980s. Diets changed to higher processed foods and progressively got more highly processed from about the 1960s. Statins (developed 1976) started being used in humans in 1987. Dr Ken Berry said that the normal blood pressure range used to be higher than it is now. Like statins it may be that the acceptable range was lowered for blood pressure lowering drugs. Another example is the antidepressants and the now debunked myth that people need an antidepressant for life (which many medical professionals still say; I was told this in 2010 - I needed an antidepressant like a diabetic needs insulin) of the supposed "chemical imbalance". After being on an AD for 25+ years I have managed to get off for nearly 2 years now and I definitely do not need to be on one for life! I have no proof but I think eating low carb helps with mental clarity and mental health, and other have said the same.

    My triglycerides are comfortably low, last they were checked. But ethanol is converted to triglycerides too! I don’t know whether eliminating ethanol is essential, but…
    Last value I have is in late May 2023, 61 mg/dl, fairly low after a couple months of somewhat low ethanol use. Should I just not use ethanol at all? Maybe. I suspect that there are more powerful sources of triglycerides out there. Doesn’t mean that I can start serious boozing with no consequences!

    • @ekondigg6751
      @ekondigg6751 Год назад

      Ethanol use is a separate issue: It's the liver that detoxes alcohol, and yes, part of the process results in triglyceride production - that stays mostly in the liver. Too much alcohol detoxing will result in fatty liver, and if continued will cause liver damage and a serious risk of cirrhosis and cancer.

  • @timryan4414

    I have to disagree with you regarding recommending that the goal for triglycerides should be in the 40's & 50's mg/dl in these two patients you highlight or for the average person in general. You mention that both patients are relative lean but no history of their exercise routine if they engage in any routine exercise activity at all. As you know, regular exercise of an aerobic nature or in combination with HIT will significantly lower triglycerides to below 100 for many individuals but almost never to the levels you recommend. You are blessed with such a low triglyceride level and for that matter your hdl cholesterol level as well. Thank you for you blood chemistry and clinical lab results explanations for these two patients as well as the overall education your provide.

If possible please focus on how lipolysis can occur while semaglutide-induced elevated insulin levels exist. It seems counterintuitive. I've always been under the impression that lowered insulin levels are best for effective lipolysis. Is it possible for the body to use other things, other than body fat, for energy when semaglutide-induced insulin levels are present? Thanks for the info. Have a good one.

      The way I understand it, the liver only offers about 20% glucose, the rest comes from fat conversion to Ketones, which is another fuel. I just learned Alcoholics create acetate, ANOTHER fuel for the body. Always wondered why alcoholics in their 50's and on hardly ever eat. They are literally drinking their fuel, but it doesn't end well.

    I appreciate this channel so much, but if you can put the UK equivalents on the screen, that would make things much easier to follow 😅
    Thank you for clearing up the effect of higher triglycerides. I was curious as to how mine was double HDL but now it makes sense with it being from excess protein 🥩

    So the female patient is 5 feet tall, 128 lbs on a *Carnivore* diet. 😮I'm 5 feet 1/2 inches tall. I'm mostly 90 to 93 lbs. I'm an omnivore. One time I went Carnivore for about one month. I dropped to 86 lbs. It took a few months going back to omnivore to regain my weight! Most people lose a lot of weight on Carnivore. I guess she's an anomaly. Interesting about introducing *dairy* into diet to lower triglycerides. You're a *great* medical detective! I've been losing interest in cheese. Can't tolerate milk. So I'll try yogurt instead! 👍

      I guess she simply has the weight her body thinks might be ok for her. Do we start weight-shaming even HERE!?

    • @chloeseine
      @chloeseine Год назад

      @@kathrin9674 Not body shaming. Dr Cywes has said she's overweight, has insulin suppression, & high triglycerides. He's fixing it by recommending dairy to her. So if it is a fix, she'll have a *new* problem. She'll need to continuously spend *money* on new *clothes* as she starts losing weight & continue to do so until her body reaches a *new* equilibrium.

    I work in an ER. I worked 2 jobs the entire pandemic. Never took the vaccine, this includes the flu vaccines too. I do not eat sugar or carbs. Many years ago, our annual education told us soap and water and friction was the best for germ control. Then they said hand sanitizer was the best. Hand sanitizer has endocrine disruptive properties. I just use soap and water, like old school taught me. I don't socialize during the winter months. Nothing BUT sick people from socializing during cold and flu season.
    I had a covid pisitive baby sneeze right in my face the other night. Ok. The RN told me the baby was postive AFTER the baby sneezed on me. I am fine.
