Thanks for the twisting tip :D I had no idea the way I was twisting is the reason why my twists were frizzy. I will definitely try your technique next week! Again thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. The tight twist technique is a lifesaver for my hair. I always wondered why my twists didn't last and always unraveled in the middle of the twist so soon. I believe this technique will allow me to wear my twists longer. Your hair is beautiful.
Thanks so much for the twist demonstration. I've been doing a lazy twist and have major fuzz in about two - three days. I'm going to try your technique and go from there. Thanks again for this GREAT demo.
Thank you! The TWIST IN PLACE idea was eye opening. I was always in a rush to finish so did pull down to "get it done already!" No mini-twists but my medium twists look so much better!
***** Naptural85 I did your technique on my mini twists and I'm going on my 5th week and people are telling me how good my twists looks and some thought I just got them done. Thanks for sharing!!!!
I love your directions! Because of you, I did my mini twists while out on maternity leave and they lasted 8 weeks!!!! I got so many compliments, even though my hair needed a shampoo, but I will do this again and again....it took my 4 and a half days to complete!
Whitney thank you SO much for your twisting "tightly" tip, and the 2 demonstrations. I have been mini-twisting for 7mths now (leaving them in for a month at a time), and found that my hair does exactly what yours did in the first demo, puffs up with little frizzies. So i can't wait to try this new method when my 4wks is up next wk. Thanks so much again, you're a Godsend.
you are such an inspiration! i finally stopped wearing weaves and finished my transition with a big chop.....getting used to my natural hair exposed whether straightened or not....thank you!!!!
I think i've watched you in the past and attempted 2 strand twist because of you earlier this year and I loved it. I did mine on wet hair with blended beauty product, no gel and the 1st set lasted 4 wks. The 2nd attempt had a very hard time lasting 2 wks and because of this video I have to admit THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME...I got lazy, hands tired and I just wanted to finish, but didn't enjoy the 2nd attempt as the 1st. Now after your explaination...I think my 3rd attempt will be good.
Wow! Thank you for the tips. You are so right about being careful and not being lazy. I remember when I put mini twists in my hair last July for the first two to three hours I did them tight and small then I grew tired and made them bigger. There was a noticeable difference too in the ones that were tight as oppose to the ones I rushed and did. I will remember your tips the next time I put mini twists in my hair. Thank you so much for the tips Whitney. I wish there was a love button:)
Yes! Light is shed in my path! lol I did these twists for the first time today. Your tips are really great! SO GLAD THAT THERE'S A SOLUTION TO MAKING THESE TWISTS LAST LONGER!
This is great. I had my medium twists in for two weeks then broke them down into smaller and then once more. And left it that way for two weeks. total of six weeks and I'm going to use your tips to keep them from being so frizzy. :-) And Whit... I LOVE your channel! Thanks hun.
I'm in love with my mini twists and it's thanks to you. I'd never dread my hair. And mini twists are the next best thing. People stare at my hair all the time. Cause up close they realize it's not dreads but twists.
I totally twist like that, but I never knew how to explain it to people if I was typing on the internet, of how I get my twists mini and regular to be so tight. I always had to show in person. You're so awesome!!!
thank you thank you thank you for the tip about twisting TIGHT! i used to move my hands down but tried the other technique and BOY was i surprised how tight and neat that twist was!! awesome tips! you are the best!
Thank you so much!! Your tips will help with my twists and my daughter's twists. I've been natural three years and have never had anyone else's hands in my hair. I am still learning hair tips through youtube videos. Your tips help me and I share what I learn with others : )
thanks for pointing that part out and congrats on your decision to go natural! your hair will grow fast just as long as you take care of it and you'll be able to rock this style and other you like, just be patient your time will come
I really appreciate and enjoy your videos! Thanks for the visual on the twisting techniques! I was conditioning and sealing and trying to gel away my frizzies; never thinking the culprit was actually the way I was twisting my hair!
my daughters hair lasted six weeks... the flax seed gel helped alot when I was twisting using your techniques... I already said thanks on your last twist video, but I'm saying it again..thank you
I sort of applied this method to my starter locs (they're coils instead of twists) and it works great. Normally they'd unravel a lot the moment I let go but not this time. Thanks for this vid!
Wow!! Thank you, I now realize why there's inconsistency in my toddler's twists when I do them. Thanks so much for your tutorials. You are a blessing and I pray that you are blessed in the same way that you bless others. Hugs :)
Thanks for explaining that to me(us) I couldn't figure out why my hair would not stay in twist when other people with a looser curl pattern twist would not unravel. I tried braiding the root part first. I was thinking maybe I need to twirl & twist & the same time which I am not able to do for a long periods of time due to my wrist.I will assume by not moving my hand will help keep the roots of my hair twisted also. I going to review your other videos on twist again.
Oh how I wish I would have watched this yesterday before I did mini twists. I noticed that I have a lot of lazy twists. I saw one of your videos saying to stay on top of the twists and let your hands move down naturally. I did that for the most part, until I started getting lazy. Wonderful tips, thanks for sharing
I love watching your videos Whitney!! You're so very descriptive and informative! When I put in my mini-twist for the first time I was doing exactly what you said not to do. They didn't last for very long. I'll definitely try it this way when I have the patients to do them again. Thanks again for your awesome videos!! Take care!! :D
great, great instruction regarding twisting in place so that the twists are as tight as possible. and the aloe vera and water tip. i'm going to try both of those on my twists (not mini). thanks.
OH goodness thank you so much for that tutorial because I love mini twists (thanks to you) but they always seem to unravel and look frizzy and now I know why my lazy booty tries to just get it done and over with because it does take forever but patience and your technique is the key to make it last and look fresh.....Gracios your the best
You rock!! I have done mini twist~ I am on 2nd week and they still look good! But my fronts got a a little frizzy because I end up wetting my hair everyday lol so thats my fault!! but man~ your wrapping method is soooo good!
goooood advice about twisting...I hope people also apply this to kinky twists or any other kind of twist for good results...even works for good twist outs = better definition.
I love all your videos! Thanks for taking the time out to explain your techniques and methods for your hair. I'm going to try this on my hair... it's just that my hair is so thick so I be twisting for years lol.
Wow. Thanks so much for giving this demonstration. I was twisting my hair while watching you twist yours and I realized that what you explained was exactly why I couldn't keep my twists in longer than a week. You're a genius ;)
i needed this vid. my hair is not thick as yours so i spray my mini twists with water to curl them and achieve a fuller look. unfortunately this helps contribute to frizz in crown. im gonna try it ur way next time. this is my fav protective style
okay thanks so much! that explains why my twists didnt last as long i was wondering why my hair never looked as neat as yours when it was done. Im glad i watched this video before i did them again. I absolutely love your videos you inspire me :-)
Hi Nap! I think you are using rope twist which i use. This is nice because,as you pointed out, it keeps the hair tight and it doesn't unravel too easily.
Thank you so much for the tip about not moving the hands downward. I used this tip to put mini-twists in my hair, and they are so smooth and strong. =]
@Naptural85 OMG this entire time i thought i just had hair that would not be able to do a twistout bt come to find out, Ive just been twisting my hair wrong!! Thnks so much! I finally know to achieve a twist out lol after 8 months of being natural
ur amazing! i'm too lazy 4 that! i do try 2 do stationery twists 2 keep them tight but i make abt 4-5 rows around the perimeter of my head small & then they gradually get bigger from 1/4-1/2" in size. i also try to do rope twist to stop some of the frizz. hhj! thanx 4 the vid!
I tried doing the super tight mini twists and experienced a good amount of breakage, where I had not experienced breakage when I did my mini twists more loosely. The same thing happened with my daughter's hair. So I don't do them tight anymore.
This video was really amazing, and helpful! I love it! But you mentioned something in your video i have a question about. My hair is really short, and although last time I twisted my hair, I did it how I should not have, if I do it this tight, and wrap it around the other side at night, will it stay in that direction the next day, or go back down where it should be? THANKS!!
You are so helpful... Love your energy and how u interact with us your subbies.... Keep your em coming girlie... I so look forward to watching your vids even though I would never do mini twists, lol... I have no patience at all😉... Until next time!!
You are amazing. Less than an hour ago I was playing with my twists. I was wondering what I did wrong and you gave me the knowledge. You are the big sister I always wanted... No offense to my biological siblings. Thank you. Phoenix
OMGosh...Whitney, your tips were the BOMB! I normally do the lazy twist and my hair would frizz like crazy. I tried it your way and WOW what a difference. Thanks soooooo much for sharing! BTW, where did you find these tips or were they through trial & error?
Wow used ur technique (keeping hands in place) and my twists look different, hang differently, and I didn't run out if hair at the end! Can't wait for the take down ;)
Hi Naptural85 I love your video's they are so helpful, although I don't have thick hair like you "sigh" my thinner hair loves your methods and technics anyway. I'm still learning and getting better with what my hair likes and it loves diy and heatless methods. You're the tops gurl!!!!!!!
@Naptural85 The Twisting QUEEN! What do you think about stretching the hair before the twisting or should the tightness of the twist be enough to stretch it out?
Omg thank you I was having that problem with my twist they didn't last long at all I always have to re twist it by the end of the week, I will dif try this out, thank you :)
I did my mini twists last night! With all my procrastination it only took 9 hours!~ To prove me right my hair went benedict arnold on me...did the mini twists and they curled up too! I have officially given up on making my hair submissive. Anyway, thank you so much! The tips really helped.
Great Vid CHICA! I have been moved to try this, Thanks alot! No one has even shown the difference and you are right about the wanting to just get it over with lol
my hair has been able to grow to great lengths using mini twists as a protective style. i only stopped using it because i noticed that they really thinned out my sides. Do you know how to avoid that? I didn't twist tightly but i did wash them while they were twisted. let me know if you know anything because i'd love to get this style back. Love your videos!
So, posting an update. My mini twists are still in and looking aight. I do her wrap method everynight and like twice a week spritz it with water (AFTER IT IS PINNED DOWN) and seal with coconut oil. Just in time for me...I have this week off, so I'm starting my mini twist installation process today. I'm kinda nervous...you know, if I take all that time and it doesn't look good :(. Thanks for all the help. Wish me luck!
i miss this youtube….back when the natural hair community was a real community on here
Exactly 😭
what yall mean
I'm twisting my hair right now, your previous mini twists inspired me to do so. Your hair has GROWN!!!
Thanks for the twisting tip :D I had no idea the way I was twisting is the reason why my twists were frizzy. I will definitely try your technique next week! Again thank you!
I love wearing mini twists, I just hate the takedown. Yet, I still do them!
oh wow this was so informative. I'm not doing mini-twists but the advice applies to any twist and it just makes sense. Thank you
Thank you so much for this video. The tight twist technique is a lifesaver for my hair. I always wondered why my twists didn't last and always unraveled in the middle of the twist so soon. I believe this technique will allow me to wear my twists longer. Your hair is beautiful.

I am so glad that I saw this video. I am guilty of rushing the twist and wondered why it looked old right away. Thanks.

i have had my twist in for about a year and they last like two weeks but I just did one of your twist and it made all the difference thanks!!!
This video was so helpful! I was twisting while you were talking and you're right! It does make a huge difference to twist in place! Thanks!

So awesome,,,what a great breakdown and you answered a question I didn't realize anyone else has...great clear teaching too!
Still very relevant advice 7 years later 😃
Hi Nap! I think you are using rope twist which i use. This is nice because,as you pointed out, it keeps the hair tight and it doesn't unravel too easily.
@Naptural85: Thanks for sharing that useful information. I didn't realise that was the reason I had so much frizz. Thanks Lady!

GREAT tip about the tight twist! Thanks so much Whitney. You are the best!!!
great tips Whitney! the second twist was definitely neater! i love your simplicity!
Great video! That is coming from some one who has done her own twists for years, and your tips helped me!!!!!
this is the best vid...very detailed.....you are the best at learning from natural hair to teach others....thank you....
VERY good explanation! This will help me with my mini twists! Thanks so much for doing THIS video!
I tried doing the super tight mini twists and experienced a good amount of breakage, where I had not experienced breakage when I did my mini twists more loosely. The same thing happened with my daughter's hair. So I don't do them tight anymore.
(2019) True - by tight you mean a kind of Rope Twisting? That also locs hair doesnt it?
@@Prov31Beauty-Seeinglassfull no.
Thanks. I have been twisting my daughter’s hair like this for years. Now I’m trying to teach her you described it well
I love your videos, they are always informative and fun to watch. Thanks for the tips!
That twisting tip is the business, merci!
You are amazing. Less than an hour ago I was playing with my twists. I was wondering what I did wrong and you gave me the knowledge. You are the big sister I always wanted... No offense to my biological siblings.

Thank you so very much for videos, they're fun, inspiring and educational. It's truly appreciated!!!
Coming back to the basics🙌
I always learn something new from you. Thanks!
Thanks for the clarification with the twists. My daughter has been the benefactor of all your hair tips. lol.
Can't wait for the take down ;)
great tips! wish I saw this before I was halfway done my head😢
I'm deaf too! Thanks so much for the captions! Your hair is gorgeous!
@Naptural85 The Twisting QUEEN! What do you think about stretching the hair before the twisting or should the tightness of the twist be enough to stretch it out?

I ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS FULL OF INFO LIGHT HEARTED JUST ENJOYABLE. THE HAIR LOOKS GREAT
Your mini twist series was very helpful.
Thanks that's really helpful because my hair tends to frizz easily so gonna try to do my twists tighter.
I did my mini twists last night! With all my procrastination it only took 9 hours!~
To prove me right my hair went benedict arnold on me...did the mini twists and they curled up too! I have officially given up on making my hair submissive. Anyway, thank you so much! The tips really helped.
You have a lot of great tips and techniques..if you haven't you should patent or copyright them. Thanks your sharings are so useful!
Great Vid CHICA! I have been moved to try this, Thanks alot! No one has even shown the difference and you are right about the wanting to just get it over with lol
How do you come up with all your styles and techniques? Is it trial and error or do you get your inspiration from other naturals?
my hair has been able to grow to great lengths using mini twists as a protective style. i only stopped using it because i noticed that they really thinned out my sides. Do you know how to avoid that? I didn't twist tightly but i did wash them while they were twisted. let me know if you know anything because i'd love to get this style back. Love your videos!
Thanks so much for the tips, I will try your techniques next time.
Great and helpful info..the next time I do my minis, ill def try ur technique. Thx!
@Naptural85 Whitney I'm extremely thankful for your insightful videos about hair care...I'm going to start mine this weekend, no more delays lol. :-D
Thanks so much for these tips cause I put my hair in mini twists all the time and they don't always last that long, so thank you so much.
So, posting an update. My mini twists are still in and looking aight. I do her wrap method everynight and like twice a week spritz it with water (AFTER IT IS PINNED DOWN) and seal with coconut oil. I took out my 'lazy twists' a few each day and redid them, which is probably why they still look pretty darn good. I didn't focus much on all the ones inbetween but the front and back ones... Lets see if I can make it to Sept 28. :P
Just in time for me...I have this week off, so I'm starting my mini twist installation process today. I'm kinda nervous...you know, if I take all that time and it doesn't look good :(. Thanks for all the help. Wish me luck!
