Cow and Calf Working - Got a Little ROWDY!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2024
- We work our first set of cows and calves for the year. I show you our process of how we sort cows from calves and then work the calves. The wide alley way on this setup makes for some tough work pushing the calves up to the chute. That made for some close calls!
Any questions or comments, let me know!

Your drone footage is GORGEOUS! Hope all is well with you and your family. God bless !
Great video. Miss working cattle. I used to work on dairy farm and loved every minute of it. Been on grain farm for almost 18 years watching your videos make me miss working cattle. Great videos.
Love your pen setup. Great video, thanks for taking the time to share.
nobody knows how hard this work is, unless you been there. You make it look so easy but it is not.... I have been there and done this. I apreciate all the work you do.. Love your videos.
Watching From Texas Glad to see Similar stuff we do 🤙
Love watching these videos of you working cattle. Thanks 😊
Great video as always beautiful cows and calfs.
I loved that last mom CEARLY knowing her calf wasn't there, and then ran along the fence when she saw her calf. That was so hurt warming.
You can’t come between calf and mom unless you want all hell to break loose
Pops said "if you do the walk of shame 3x in a row, you can walk in shame home" lol
I used to live on a small farm growing up I miss it a lot I wish I could buy my own but can’t but I watch y’all and it helps
I'm envious of your sorting pen setup!
Haha, the walk of shame! Great job, man! And great production! This is good stuff!
Farmer E appreciate it, man!
good job. your cows are healthy and happy.
A great video showing what a Dad and Son can do together. Just like clockwork.
Tade21 thanks my man! Always first!
Good job, might take some panels to stick in that alley to take up room so they can’t turn on you.
Handy looking set of yards.
We used to have fights with the Hot-shots when I was younger. Not that big a deal.
We called it tazer tag. You zap someone drop that shit and run like hell
I wouldn't think twice what people say on the rise of the hot shot you are the one working the cows you know what you need to get the job done !! Yal stay safe
Daniel from central Mississippi
These are the kind of comments I like to see. Appreciate it!
I love ur videos I’m a dairy farmer in Australia
Those are some good looking calves right there.
Thanks!
Really cool working station! I know the feeling between getting kicked in the chute or ran over lol
I love your vids keep it up plz I Live on a small rach in Texas we have 2steers
Another great video Farm Guy. I am watching it from A campsite in Joplin Arkansas. Not far from Hot Springs
Dwight Harber always out on the trail! Thanks!
I used a portable fence to move calves down to the chute. I welded together two horizontal pipes to four vertical pipes and used the contraption to push the calf into the shute. Worked great and you dont get kicked.. Just thought I would pass that on to you.
Something like that would be nice and I’m sure would work really well!
Great filming editing and gentle music at the end bro,
and big thanks for not blasting us with a cheap hip hop music.
God bless!!
Appreciate it man!

Absolutely love your videos Sir
How are you doing Sir
Good night Sir
Good video. Seems like your facility works well. We run cattle in central Oklahoma and don’t have great luck with cattle panel - seems like your center reinforcement pipe helps a lot.
I love watching it's very interesting
Good video
i like to watch how you work your cameras ,,, you do a great job .. with them ,, I sure wish I could visit your farm and hang out with ya for a day or 2 ... I luv animals ..
Will you do a video explaining how you built your working pen sometime? Is that just a heavy gauge bull panel welded onto oil pipe? Enjoy the videos. Thanks
The yard is a good setup for loading and it is the right size for the amount of cattle yee have
Cows and calves look well.
I will never forget one of my first time working cow and calf. I was running them up the shoot for a shot and a blue die dewormer, that is applied in the back just above the hips. So we're getting down to the end with no problems, but of course there had to be on Bitc# in the group. I have a buzzer but I don't like using them if I don't have to. But this was a acception so I give her a attention getter. Well when I did that she lunged forward but then at the same time had come back. Okay so when her hips come back I had picked up the buzzer in my finger was still on the trigger and it happened to tap just right on her hips and throw a spark and it lit the blue dewormer on fire in that count instantly started burning with flames. I was in such shock I've never seen anything like it my boss was jumping around with a shirt off yelling something and I didn't know so I take off running because where are you going I said get the grill . But really I was in such shock I think I was just walking away because didn't want to watch a cow burn alive. She's okay though calf's name is sparky and mama's name is fire. #farmstrugle.
Good camera work again. Thous kicks could put you out of commission. Thank you for sharing.🐄🐂🐄🐂
Boy that's a pretty dang intense job you got there, with you running down the shoot, and climb up out on to the walkway and start over again, my gosh and them animals suddenly change directions, you got to STAY FULL ALERT FOR SUDDEN TURN AROUNDS or you'll get trampled😱😵 I don't know about you but after a workout like this, but I'm READY to hit WHATABURGER !!!!!!!!!! Lol😁🤠 ALWAYS BE CAREFULL, 👍 TAKE CARE THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS WITH ME. 👍
Awesome footage. You need some heelers out there to help! And about 50,000 calories per day!
Wow
I don't think you were using the hot shot enough lol. I'm a cow hoof trimmer and work cows everyday. If I couldn't use a hot shot I'd quit.
😂 I hear ya on that.
buster love to work on the farm welldone buster woof woof woof
hey the farm guy
I remember my brother and cousins doing this with our uncle's we used to walk them few mile walking behind or on horse back. Using vehicles wasn't an option
totally love the torn jeans on you. keep up the good work and look more badass more often ;-)
You guys need walkie talkies!
Maybe a good manageable piece of plywood would've been easier to block the calfs from turning around in the chute, growing up on a ranch that was my job for the entire summer months of branding. Plus, there was no need of cattle-prods, especially when the alley chute was shorter down to the calf-squeezer station. Thanks for sharing I enjoy watching different cattle operations amongst the ranches in the US and aboard.
Yes there’s no doubt that it could be improved. An adjustable alley like we have back at home would be idea. Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
Nice stock! Are those white cows charolais? Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
I liked and subscribed your video my name is Joseph out of west Texas panhandle
Ok, I’m jealous. Those are some great working pens. Wow. Good looking cattle also. What part of Texas are you located. We are in N. Texas near Paris
Thank you. We are a little southwest of Sherman about 25 minutes. Meant to respond to your other comment the other day. I don’t comment on a lot of videos but see yours in my recommended all the time and kept wondering exactly where in N Texas y’all were at!
Thanks. We sell cattle from time to time in Gainesville.
Need to enclose the chute It's help to keep them from turning around as much
What are you guys actually doing with them are they for meat? That's a lot of work good job.
Dam brother you & Pos did great, looks like y'all got a good operations.
When do y'all send calf to the sale barn or do y'all go to the feedlot ?
And do y'all sale cattle @ Gainesville sale barn. I know Capital Land & Livestock may buy from y'all.
Still working on getting my truck snd trailer as a O/O not easy, know what I mean, great video bro. Later

Yes,Sir I know both places very well, I've haul cattle out of both and El Reno. Really I been everywhere man, lol.... That's a old song
You need a Belgian draft horse in your farm there very cool
Great tiring calf and cow work,i know you glad that done....you need a couple more hands to help you...
Those that complain need to experience working them
You need some good hanging tree cowdogs
13:17 I subbed
First video watching u, subed
Fight appreciate it
The Farm Guy of course, keep up the great content
Do you ever try to hand tame the calves?
Where are you located would love to come meet you , I'm looking for some F1 Bradford heifers, thank you
The people that are complaining have never worked cattle. I let others with more experience work the Bull.
Does blowing raspberries at them actually work? I've heard many noises used for cattle. But raspberries are new.
Canadian-Rain I’m not sure what blowing raspberries sounds like.
@@TheFarmGuy The farting noise. We've always called it "Blowing raspberries" (Sorry it took me so long to respond. I actually forgot I commented on this one)
Then brahmer crosses are fun to work aren’t they😂
The uncle that have cows he doesn’t bring his dogs
Stack ‘em and pack ‘em

Do all the genealogist in your area a favor and please wash headstones and do shadings of the surface of the headstones for history sake or let some genealogists know and I bet they would do it. I bet if you sweep all the leaves away you’ll find a lot of people buried there. Sometimes headstones are the only record some people have of there family with correct dates and where some of their family died and where they were buried. And your right it will be lost to the ages if someone doesn’t do it. If i didn’t live cross the country I would come help to do it. Thanks for listening. Love your videos.
Are some of those charloias cow's? I know I probably spelled that wrong
Yes they are!
Edit: not pure charolais but charolais cross.
@@TheFarmGuy I love charolais cows the auction I use to work at had a ton come thru they were easier to work or seemed to be most of the time more dossile then the longhorns or Herefords
thats not being crual using the cattle prod. sometimes the flag dosent work
Kelly mulcahy
Does your Dog help run the cows too??, He really looks interested in them
He does but he’s never had any training so sometime he does good and lots of times not so good lol
Are those cows gasing? Is that what I am hearing?
No, that’s me lol. Just a noise I make to move the cattle.
@@TheFarmGuy that is 😂
Why do you wean your calfs so earlie?
Not sure what you mean? None of the calves in this video were weaned.
@@TheFarmGuy I’m sorry my brother was on my yt account on his iPad sorry
I hate Hot Shots makes for skittish and Wild cows
Karen Zepeta I don’t like using them but love them for the fact that they make the work so much safer and more efficient.
Does your dad get mad when you mess up??
Not as long as I’m trying lol but yeah he can frustrated but there’s always gonna be some mess ups here and there.
What happen to calves after sorting them?
This was in the summer so they get turned back out to their moms and then in the fall we bring them back in until they are ready to be turned out on wheat pasture for the winter.
You mean by bringing them back in is that you sort the calves and then put them into a pen, right?
@@TheFarmGuy one more question, do you graze them everyday? I'm sorry I ask too many questions
@@dingdong0596 yes they have access to the wheat all through winter.
@@dingdong0596 when I say bring them back I mean, bring them back to our home place where they stay here until they we turn them out on wheat here at home.
Why are the calves not housed?
What do you mean not housed?
@@TheFarmGuy I mean with roof or barns.
@@dingdong0596 because it’s not needed.
@@TheFarmGuy Aren't calves suppose to be protected from harsh weather conditions? I'm really curious
En snap
You need a better system for the calves seems very stressful for them and you
A horse would save a lot of walking
I’m not gay but your voice
Se puede ser mas infeliz?
Your life would be so much easier if you had working horses
traitre avec les veau
Someone that we're a little too young to be pulled away what are you doing I don't get it you had older calves and younger calves and like I don't get what you're doing here
