If you watch earlier shows, the "and now, the end is near" at the beginning of Mars is a half step lower than where it was by the end of the season. We changed it because we added in more singing to match the beginning of Mars instead of clashing. Artistic vision and whatnot

This closer brings me to tears every single damn time! The road these guys had to finally hit top 5 again. the journey of finding their voice again. The path to doing something risky. The words say it all; and when that hit overpowers the vocals at 1:06, it's game over for me every time. I can't even sing along cause I get that proud knot in my throat. Absolutely one of the greatest closers of all time.
Blue Stars Closer. After the “Come What May, I will love you until my dying day” vocal track to the end. That in my opinion was the best Closer of 2017

OhHellfire I’m still not the biggest fan of this show (it just wasn’t my kind of show), but I saw the DCI Tour Premier (theaters) and DCI Finals Night (Live). And they improved SO MUCH. Definitely miles ahead of what it was at DCI Tour Premier.
Everything about this show is absolutely insane! This show never failed to bring me to my feet this entire summer! Congrats on a phenomenal year Cavies!
John Johnson funny enough, I commented this before I auditioned, I’ve now marched 2018 and 2019 at the cavaliers on mello and aged out last season, and yes I can confirm we’ve got some mics but we really try to minimize it. Our brass staff has consistently brought forward a plan to decrease the use of brass amplification every year at the Dci director summit. Hopefully things can start to become more acoustic soon!
Jon Williams Thanks for your comment. I should've been more specific. I do think BD deserved to win. Their GE was just too good, and that ballad was just, *shudders in delight*. I was slightly upset that they won visuals though, since SCV had amazing drill, but I am not an expert, so if anyone could explain it to me, that would be good.

When this show came to Louisiana me and my friends were making it rain on the contra line as they were taking off jackets. Talk about a magic mike show- oh my god they need to do it
Trombone was my first instrument 100 years ago. I would not understand the full power of the instrument until years later as a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus standing behind the orchestra ( the trombone section ) those 3 or 4 musicians could pretty much over shadow the entire orchestra easily had they wanted to LOL! It was at that point that I fully understood the power of the trombone.
Really would love to see them medal this coming season been a fan since 2008 and when 2012 happened my heart sank :’( but I knew they’d make a comeback :)
I love the Cavaliers and to me this is one of the best shows they've ever done but I think it would have been better without the vocals. Just my opinion.
I think instead of having the vocal track, the melody should've been played by the age-outs with the rest of the hornline accompanying. Would've made for an even more emotionally impactful moment.

Can't deny the power and quality of Cavies finals performance. But the combination of My Way and Mars was awful design. It's like this, "I love Swedish Fish. I love bleu cheese. Let's combine the two!" AAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!! YUCK!!! Some things should never be combined, no matter how good they are alone. But the members performed phenomenally.

DCI needs to just get everybody together and agree to stop calling these groups by the names of the highly distinctive individual groups they used to be, back when the Justin Bieber generation wasn't obliterating it all with generic electronics, characterless uniforms, and attention-deficit music-and-visual design. Just call them all by numbers or something: "Hyperaggressive Casualwear Models with Intrusive Electronic Bass Tones #6-A".
Great idea. That'll sell. Better yet, why not just pull the plug on the whole thing and deny these kids the chance to have a once in a lifetime opportunity?
