The true hero of this show is that front ensemble. DCI didn’t have synths at this time - they are making some insane sound effects all with acoustic instruments!! Also the marimba book is so fun and exciting.
One of my top 3 favorite DCI shows of all time. No crazy props or obnoxious set pieces, just insane marching & entertaining music. Fantastic show. Thanks for full upload 👍🏼
Agree, I love shows where it’s compelling and interesting, yet there’s no eyesore props scattered all around the field. Plus the cavies uniform is badass lmao
I honestly watch this show for motivation in life. It’s so amazing and it really inspires me to do better. Can’t count how many times it has helped me and I still watch it till this day
I saw this live. At the time I wasn't a huge fan of the music, and still aren't really. However: 1) the traditional uniforms are awesome and in my humble opinion they should never change them and 2) the drill in this show is INCREDIBLE. They really had it going on visually for a period of time.
I know that the drill is fantastic, but recently in these great Cavvies shows, I've been paying more attention to the brass. That brass had a really good ensemble sound back then. :)
@@1049berkeley the brass book was pretty conservative compared to Phantom & BD... plus folks really got tired of their brass concept. I miss it though some great brass concepts and composition.
As a guard member, drill that intertwined like that in between the brass with high tosses and wide flutters always made me so damn nervous. Shoot, I was twirling MIRRORS my senior year of high school. Our show was called Reflections. We did half the show forward and then mirrored it all backward including the music. It was incredible and the first time we got to regionals as a band in over 20 years prior. That was 2006!
This show was beyond spectacular. I don’t think nothing comes close to this in terms of music, visuals, and performance that these guys did. I really want to know how as it to play this show if you were in the Cavs
OKAY. Can we show some respect for what the brass are doing at 9:35 !!! I marched 4 years of drum corps (including my year with The Cavaliers in 2010) and if I was put in that situation I would be be hella' scared. Look at those contras marching in between the other members while turning at the same time. They make it look easy but man, that is awesome and takes a lot of trust!
Sup James it's Matt!!!! It was unbelievably unnerving learning those drill sets. I can tell you that during the entire time that we learned that drill and performed it throughout the summer absolutely no one got hit. Your totally right the trust is what we had for everyone to be exactly where they were supposed to do. During those drill moves I am the trumpet player on the left side and 9th from the back to go into the tube circle. I will say that the rotating triangles at 9:26 was harder to learn than the circles the 2nd movement. When we learned initially learned that part of the drill it was pretty confusing but we got it and if you can find a high cam of the show and see what is happening you will understand just how crazy and dope that drill move was.
Absolutely right. I believe it was either my Junior or Senior year, I almost got a concussion from a sousaphone player because of close proximity transitions. Told the girl if she hits me, keep going. I’ll be alright.
This will forever be a favorite...An amazing show...I never grow tired of watching this one!!!

Yes, I agree! Thanks for the upload as well!

Back when drill was worth a darn. I can't remember a single drill move in the last 10 years, but I still remember this stuff.

drum major salute lets you know it's gonna be a banger before the show even stars

This era was peak drum corps in my opinion.
Cavies drill from this era can’t be beat, but there’s so many cool things happening in Machine that make it one of my all time faves!!
forever legend of DCI!!!!!!!
One of my favorites
this and Spartacus (you know which year) are hands down the best shows in modern DCI. you will not change my opinion.
Ahhhhh feel better now?
You can’t expect any further from the goddamn best. I mean, it’s the Cavaliers, they’ve perfected every form of art in their performances.
@@Kettie5 my prediction...the Cavaliers will be the next Corps winning DCI other than perennial BD. The Green Machine is back!
@The_legend27 im a die hard BD vet. The Cavs have all the winning captions to make runs for the title again. Staff in place.
this isn't even better than Frameworks 2002 lmao

They were 3rd in brass finals night 2019.

Drill was so much better during this time vs now.

That is some frightening stuff there....handled it so much ease.
Totally. Not to mention that the instrument is blocking a good portion of their view of the others. Truly impressive

My favorite show of all time. Brilliant concept, music, choreography, general effect... everything.
Wish it would stay on the highcam only.
1st time watching the full show of 06. Thank you for uploading it.
the display's blow my mind
thank
Their guard had an “full on” robot costume, ours is just a silver body suit for this show loll
what a gaming
what does that mean bro?
it means everything
Well said
3:42 dang bro
4:38 repetition legitimizes
8:22 color guard yet again exudes crack head energy, and it pays off
I absolutely love this show - definitely one of the best shows in history. 💚
Could you maybe send me the show in a better video quality?
Sorry this is the best quality I could get. I wish it were better too lol.
Damn
What is the pre warmup piece they played before the show.
💯 5:56 💯
5:28 thiccest trumpet note
That note gives me goosebumps every time I hear it, even all these years later
