Steve Buscemi it really is a good show. The argument I mostly see for this show is 1)All of the Microphones used and 2)So much was jammed into 11 minuets
I also feel a bit bias because Bloo got me into DCI last year, but last year was amazing. I also recently watched TILT recently and I love that show too.
I'm a hardcore BD fan...but one thing I love about Bluecoats is how they use songs perfectly in their shows. Also, the white uniforms...good job expanding ideas. Can't wait for the season to start.
Ok, the bowler hats were pretty cool... Tbh I liked the main uniforms. But the more I watch the guard, the more I feel like they're trying to seduce the judges lol
I heard the soloist in the beginning, Malik, moved to the Blue Devils in 2018 along with Alan Hester and they were both soloists that year and when Malik aged out in ‘19
Hard to tell, since they're allowed to fake it with some kid on a sideline keyboard now. Who the hell knows what the actual brass and percussion sound like at all, really, with all the electronic "help" going on? 😑
Easily best 5th place show this show. My personal favorite of the season. I personally wanted it to be 2nd but eh. I'll just keep this baby all to myself.
Nope. I lost interest in drum corp drumming and got into Prog Metal and such. My friend recommended thank you scientist and I started with opening up their first album. I heard the first few chords and I started singing along even though I had only heard it first the first time. I thought “how do I know this??” Then my mind flipped and thought BLOO ‘17
Keep coming back to this show cause it is such a bop, but i will admit there were some really bad ticks during some of the shows like a trumpet stepping off a whole measure early.
This show is terribly underrated. It could not be DownsideUp, but still this was pretty good. Also, I would have this show above Crown’s that year. This show was cohesive compared to the 2nd half mess Crown’s was.
This was great and very catchy but the opening hit just could have been bigger in sound, especially in the low brass and the guard being spread out more would have helped with the general effect. The percussion was good but I feel like it covered up a lot of the brass in the first hit; it was still a good show though.
Imagine the prop breaks and the people fall through and they still march and when they are supposed to walk out of the prop they break the props walls while marching out
The stage was integrated into the show very, well, the guard could have been placed in the drill to give a better visual, it seemed they were dodging the percussion pit, and this part of the show would have been much better if the colors were spread over the field. When watching the full show, this was repeated in the drill design several times better use of the color guard, they did a great job just not integrated well in the show.
Prolly the best show in history. My favorites from Bloo: #1) Jagged Line (2017) #2) Tilt (2014) #3) Garden of Love (2023) ‘24 I saw in person, and it was kinda mid. I mean, their uniforms were like this: Marchers: those little red-striped mints Drum Majors: wint-o’-green Lifesavers Guard: banana Runts. It was actually kinda funny. Their theme was strange, though. There really was no “story” I guess. My high schools’ band has a better theme. “Unmasked”. A high schools’ band’s theme. Is better. Than a drum corps. We also have cooler uniforms. (Might be biased tho. Bloo is one of my favorite corps, so it’s hard to top in my head, but like… that was the best you could do, Bloo?) We also become a masquerade mask, which is pretty badass. We wear masks too. I’m so excited.
If you're gonna like that in Drum Corps. Lets be real. You shouldn't be in Drum Corps. No matter the show. They have much more discipline than that. Set position watches the major, not other things.
@@ricky.beats. That's not necessarily true. Drum corps kids care about the performance above ALL ELSE, but these are young adults that live 3 months of their lives in close proximity to each other while being mostly naked
It's great how hard the kids work and the dedication it takes from the staff and students to put out these great performances. However, maybe it's just me but it's seems like DCI and BOA have been going for awhile now to this kind of visual concept above all else. It seems like more of the shows are geared toward dancing and ballet moves from the horn players. Mix in electronics and non traditional uniforms and it is almost like a completely different activity. I was never in drum corps but my high school band program was fortunate enough to be in grand national finals every year, I marched 1996-99 and I remember a lot of innovative shows but the music and marching was still the center of everything. I have not been to DCI finals since 1999, but I remember it being amazing productions but with music and marching at the center of everything. Am I way off here ???
I love how much the prop shakes in the opening hit
I literally covered my eyes in Indy because I thought I was going to watch them all die lmfao
yeah, that prop is kinda terrifying
omg you mean at 1:48? yeah yikes
Good luck to all who are are auditioning for the Blacksuspenders this season.
Gentry cant wait to see what the WhiteTights put out this year
cant wait for the Red Suits show this year called potential quietness
i wish luck to anyone auditioning for the dragon spandex's
Thats more like SCV
I'm auditioning for the Sparklyleotards this season, wish me luck
BLOO has officially pulled a Crown-1st place one year, and then 5th place the next year
Cadets did this before I believe
dog de la frog I think The Cadets managed to fall to 6th in 2006 after winning in 2005 when they tried to do a “part two” lol
Coasters Unlimited the cavaliers also did this in 1993, winning their first championship in 1992 but getting fifth the next year
A lot of corps seem to believe in superfluous overproduction the year after a championship. It doesn't work.
Coasters Unlimited phantom 1st to 9th
1:43 I don’t think it’s legal to have a beat that groovy.
feats why they were dancing to it XD
Luke Lehmuller oh no. You foiled my plan!
you should listen to the source music. It is called Psychopomp. Its pretty lit.
I found Psychopomp through BLOO and I fell in love with it right from the start. Amazing song. The band isn't that bad either.
Anthony Montoya the original is obviously better than the bluecoats version though.
I feel like I’m the only person that likes this show.
It’s not they’re best, but I enjoy it a lot.
Can’t wait till 2018 fellas.
Ah dude no, it's a fantastic show! Every top 12 corps puts on fantastic shows. If people criticize, they're just doing it comparatively.
Steve Buscemi it really is a good show.

2)So much was jammed into 11 minuets
I also feel a bit bias because Bloo got me into DCI last year, but last year was amazing. I also recently watched TILT recently and I love that show too.
In my opinion, it was too dirty to win, but too groovy for me not to like it.
i love love love this show, one of my favorite shows in recent years, honestly. the ending is just so catchy
I'm a hardcore BD fan...but one thing I love about Bluecoats is how they use songs perfectly in their shows. Also, the white uniforms...good job expanding ideas. Can't wait for the season to start.
1:43 when the beats are boppin so hard the stage bops with it
the best pre show in my opinion
This definatley wasn't their best year or show, but holy crap the show this show was so freaking hype I love it.
Are we not gonna talk about how the whole stage shakes at 1:48?
Antoni Soroka oh you're very right and it was stressful to learn before the railings were put on haha
Omg, now I can't unsee it >_>
Antoni Soroka I saw that and I was like, OH MY GOD IT'S SHAKING
Imagine the stage just collapsing on finals night tho, what even happens at that point?
It’s because the music was too groovy
Guard is looking extra spicy
like a croissant
paraxod 😂
one of the coolest openers in bluecoats history. So groovy!
Ok, the bowler hats were pretty cool... Tbh I liked the main uniforms. But the more I watch the guard, the more I feel like they're trying to seduce the judges lol
The Snare Drummer I don't think anyone was complaining... Lol
T H O T S
Wyatt Allen nah, get out of here with that. Ain't no girls like that in this group. Thots wouldn't even try to do anything with their lives.
is that... not the point of guard?
Y’all need to chill out

Yes you are right
I love that impact so much
Man clockwork orange looks great
1:43 I just came
orbitable same
We all did
I am disappointed by the lack of tuba feature in this video.
Dean Tunks and sadly this video is only 2 minutes and 34 seconds long and starts from the beginning of the show.
I feel to pain my liege

Ian Shields from being told by people who have seen dci live, you feel the brass, so you would know
Easily best 5th place show this show. My personal favorite of the season. I personally wanted it to be 2nd but eh. I'll just keep this baby all to myself.
Gabriel Taylor This show is definitely enjoyable...but SCV 09 and phantom 11 have something to say about it being the best 5th place show
Crown 2014, as well.

2017 White Shirts - “Speakers and Physics Props”
Holy shit, listening to this with my earbuds, never felt satisfied! The tuda sounded amazing in the background!
I know the show isn’t about this, but at first I thought it was about pimps buying girls off the streets.
Tough to follow the year before but this show was outstanding and that ballad wow
Pretty good show, but one of the grooviest I've seen in a while. Thing had some killer beats.
i belive this one deserved higher than 5th place i mean the ending is literally the ankle breaker
Am I the only one who know that this is from the band thank you scientist???

That color guard member who did the splits is gorgeous!
Damien Rodriguez she really is

Best show ever!!!!
Can we please acknowledge the wink at 0:48
The Wink will forever live on!!
That Thank You Scientist in the beginning though!!
Yeah its the prologue to Stranger Heads Prevail, the first part of the show is also heavily based on psychopomp!
Lol the face on that guard member @ 1:50

That's where I stop you Chief. Crown's closer for It Is is one of the best closers in DCI history, with or without the vocalist.
@@the1aj39 without the vocalist it would’ve been good, but with the vocals it was a mess.
Best 5th place show ever.
Am i the only one that noticed how the girl was like being REALLY touchy with the soloist? 0:53

Yeah and how he just looks back like "WHAT BITCH!?"
groovy
This is damn dope.
I like how they used the semifinals
Not the best show but that gaurd is HOT

Holy shit this was based of the band thank you scientist. I think physcopump or something like thst
Is the soloist the same guy in BD's 2018 and 19 show? He looks like the same guy.
Yes

Taylor West remember Bloo is top heavy and they tune sharp. Their emphasis will always be on the lead soprano.
As a drummer and zappa fan ... I wish I was 30 years younger so I could March in zombie woof
Good luck to all
This could have been a medalist show if the ballad had not been nearly entirely mic’d and facing backfield..

Holy crap
Kyle Tsuchiya is literally the main character
Which song is at 1:40
Psychopomp
Funny, haven't seen any comments yet noticing that the "look" is totally a Bob Fosse "Cabaret" tribute.
Everybody's way too young, I guess...lol
The last time blue coats wore hats. Let’s be hopefully for some head gear in 2025
WHAT'S the first song they use? At the very beginning? It's so melancholy and I love it
First song is called Prelude by Thank You Scientist. Second is also by Thank You Scientist, it's called Psychopomp.

they got a dual monitor set up in the pit
I absolutely adored this show and seeing it live was absolutely fantastic. But goddammit I do NOT like those guard uniforms.
I personally thought Down Side Up was a better show
Alex Mok Downside Up was ground breaking. It was always going to be tough follow up that one.
The grooves from Down Side Up came at least
Well Downside up revolutionized DCI.
Jagged Line was just a great show, and, well, there ya go.

Bluecoats went through a jazz phase in 17 and 18 didn't they
The Bluecoats have always been big band jazz bruh
You can’t tell me 1:40 isn’t badass
