    What's sad is Archer's suggestion to up gun the next NX coming off the line was not only ignored but written off by its captain as being "cynical", when Archer and his crew paid DEARLY for going into deep space with the equivalent of potato guns compared to most of the other races.
    Heck even the Vulcans who were all about peace and the status quo knew to give their ships actual teeth in case someone decided to attack them.

      Pretty sure during Home episode, Columbia has ventral and dorsal torpedo launchers, and the upgraded pulse phase cannon, with his recommendations being used. Not sure which time frame, but pulse phase cannon---more likely before The Expanse. Ventral and dorsal torpedo launchers---more like during mid-construction of Columbia.
      Even hull plating was improved again, in the same episode, the first being The Expanse.
      It was Archer being "cynical", as he doesn't want aliens to fear humans during first contact, because a human ship is heavily gunned. However, 3-4 years in deep space, especially Xindi arc, made him realised that a ship with shit tons of guns is better than having little.

    • @WaveForceful
      @WaveForceful 11 месяцев назад +6

      I read a novel where the Xindi decided to target Andoria instead of Earth, You know what happened, Shran with the Kumari absolutely carpet bombed the shit out of them.
      The Captain of the Columbia should have been told off by Archer for that, Archer and his crew were viciously attacked, 17 crew members dead, some of those didn't even have a body to bring back home. yet she has the hubris to say archer is being cynical. They should put the best tactical systems on every ship going forward.
      That novel suggests that if Star Fleet or the NX class had equivalent shields and weapons to an Andorian or Vulcan ship, it would of been able to handle the Xindi fairly easily, the battle of Azati prime would have likely been the other way round, 4 xindi ships receiving a beating instead,
