As this was mentioned many times: the reasons why dialogue and ADR are the weaker part of the film are that I had the great idea to change the script AFTER we finished shooting. So we had to put new text over existing footage, and english is not our native language. Also keep in mind, that non of the cast and crew had any former experience in filmmaking whatsoever. I'd easily say this is better than anything Disney is putting out. The story is impactful and the pilots are fighting for one another. The space battle is easy to follow & understand who is where and how many TIEs are out there. Thank you for this. You've given me hope for Star Wars

It's nice after the TIE fighter anime short film, where we see the Empire use all of its naval assets correctly and in combined arms form, from squadron level, to the use of an Interdictor destroyer, now we get to see the good guys do it here.
The insult of using a downed droid to take out an ace denies him entry into Valhalla. That was one the most creative moments I’ve seen in a Star Wars film EVER. I played Rogue Squadron on the N64 as a kid and haven’t smiled experiencing Star Wars like this in forever. To everyone involved in the production of this fan film and the viewers who got warm blooded joy out of this I salute you all😊
I was almost going to say that this is hands down the best fan film I have ever seen, but… this is probably the best new movie I have watched in a long time! It may have only been 50 minutes (which is long for fan films), but it was so intense I almost couldn’t stand it. I was lost in the Star Wars Galaxy for the first time in a long time. That is what I want as a fan. This movie was an escape and I love it! Thank you so much for all of the hard work you obviously put into this film.

This is the best Star Wars I've seen in a long while. Beats Disney by a mile. I like that both X Wings and TIE's are portrayed as taking a hell of a beating and still running, if at reduced performance. Only a sustained center-mass gunblast or a missile/torpedo hit blows them apart completely.
I’m blown away. 1) This is the BEST USE for what at Y-Wing is capable of. 2) this has such an honest feel of what rogue squadron should feel and be like. 3)The Score and SFX were really cool! 4)knowing the limited budget you had, I applaud you for making this.
The Y Wing is a Small Fighter bomber type ,just like our planet Earth equivalent of the Lockheed Martin F35 Lightning 2 Stealth Fighter bomber. The Y wing has 2 ion cannons, 2 laser cannons and carry Proton Torpedoes or Missiles.
Here i am again ... 10 years old ... booting up the X-Wing Game and being one of the happiest Star Wars Fans on this planet. Thank you so much for giving me this feeling again :D !!!
Finally a film where TIE-Fighters are not destroyed after one hit. The one TIE Fighter Pilot that performed amazing skills with his machine.. Man, what if he had a TIE Interceptor or even a TIE Defender? He would be an absolute nightmare for all rebel pilots.. This is one of the best fan Films I've ever seen. Great job! 👍🏻
If we ever get a Sequel I would really love to see "Black Ace" I believe our Rebel Friends called him to come back maybe with Cybernetics in a Tie Avenger or Advanced maybe with Tech from the Dark Trooper projekt. This just shows that strong Villains make for so much more tension even through the helmet you feel the hate.
This is not just a "Fan Film"... This is a Homage! This is love and passion for the roots of the Golden Age of good old Star Wars. After all the latest disappointments during the past years... (well, I enjoyed Rogue One & Andor of course!) ...this Fan Film really blew me away. I can`t remember the last time I didn`t move for 50 minutes and just totally fell into something - but this film made it happen. Thank you very much for this experience. I loved flying with you. I loved being your Wingman!
I’m not usually all that into fan films…….but, that was BY FAR the best Star Wars dogfight I’ve ever seen on any an all mediums. The speed, the movement of the ships, some actual dogfighting strategy, and the graphics were first rate. Perhaps the best compliment I could pay is that this is what Star Wars is supposed to be. Kudos and congrats to all involved, for one helluva job well done.
The Graphics dogfights strategy by the Rebel Alliance Fighter pilots tactics are Better than Any WW2 or Korean Vietnam Wars of dogfights between Own Friendly Allied Forces Fighters against Enemy .
This was the first time in a lot of years I could actually sit back and just lose myself in and enjoy something Star Wars related. You made something special, and it reminds me why I fell in love with Star Wars in the first place.
This is absolutely phenomenal !! Incredible ! I cannot believe the special effects. I am speechless and now a life long fan.. my God keep these incredible motion pictures coming!! This is what the fans want and this story and FX put Disney to shame. I have never seen a fan based production such as this.. I am truly overwhelmed! locking s-foils to go faster......showing the correct power meters when setting all power to engines...the correct sound effects.....it's like I'm a kid playing X-Wing vs TIE Fighter again!!
You know the other part they got completely right ? .. its the part you dont notice till its pointed out .. music .. background music at almost all times .. it sets the mood and without the scenes just dont work.. well done.
This fan film had no business being as good as it was. I’m in disbelief. Echoing what someone else said, it’s not just a good Star Wars film- it’s just a solid FILM. Only a fan could know how to write a love letter like this for fellow fans. The acting and direction were professional; I lost myself in the story from the first dialogue. The visuals and just the overall feel felt like finally going home and getting the Star Wars we deserve. And the references to and easter eggs for the X-Wing computer game series … just perfection. If you know, you know :) I’m so happy this popped up on my RUclips page. I can’t wait for the sequel. …We’re getting sequels, right?!
Hey. Thank you so much! This was made for the fans, for sure! However, after seven years and approx 5000 hours of production time, a sequel will take A LONG time to be finished.
Speaking for Micha, the creator here - we wouldn't be opposed to Disney dumping a truckload of cash in our front yard and telling us to go for it. Hell, we'll even do it for half of Rebel Moon's budget. 😉 But seriously - right now, there are no plans to continue the story. You have to take into account that Micha devoted basically every spare minute he had over the last seven years to the realization of his vision. We're talking about a husband and father of two who also works a full time job. And everybody who tagged along during that amzing journey did it completely for free, too. Something like this can't just be replicated, even though I already (almost) wish that it wasn't over. It was quite a ride.

As an X-Wing veteran, I got hooked from the first minute and could not stop watching the full thing. Amazing work. I love the tactics, ship roles, personalities of the pilots, small epic moments like the Y-wing releasing a cloud of mines, cinematography. I love it all!
This was incredible! Such an amazing Star Wars film! The actors did a fantastic job and so did the editing team! Absolutely amazing, I was lost in a galaxy far, far away! Please keep making star wars content, you guys did a phenomenal job! We will watch your career with great interest
*You. Guys. Nailed. It.* This was amazing. Probably the most intense, wild, amazing dogflight sequence in the entire Star Wars universe I've ever seen. Action, Storyline, Characters, Special Effects, Camera Angles, and the special details. Everything is perfect. And one can say you definitely are veterans who played games like X-Wing Alliance excessively. Also you guys read the X-Wing novels of Rogue & Wraith squadron. The forward engagements of X-Wings vs TIEs. Guns, green & red laserfires blazing. And the fact TIEs are more manouverable and faster so they will turn faster and try to get behind of the X-Wings. While X-Wings are configurating their shields to maximize front shields to have better chance at surviving the first engagement. Then splitting up in pairs of two to cover each other and try to pick TIEs out. Maximizing aft-shields when followed by TIEs. Also both factions always operate in pairs of two where the wingman supports the lead. You really really nailed it. Props to all the hard work you guys have put in as a team. From directors to actors or camera men or special effects or cutters, programmers, also costume design and make-up artists. Everything is amazing. Thank you. For contributing a unique, exciting, awesome story to the Star Wars universe. You make countless lifes across the entire world very happy. Maybe even across the entire galaxy one day, far far away from now. From the deepest of my hearts. Thank you for your awesome work.
Hey. Thank you very much. Yes, I played X-Wing and Tie-Fighter back in the days on my friends PC (hadn't had one myself) and some Roguesquadron books are still on the shelf as well. I really tried to put some thought into how a small scale battle with Xs Ys and Ties might look like and where the differences in fighting styles are and why all craft have a purpose next to each other. Glad you liked it!
@@michaelsbasement9021 yes, very positive. Most fan films are 20 minutes tops. That recent After Endor one was pretty good, but it didn't have all the space combat like yours. We need a big SW channel like Star Wars Theory to get eyes on this and promote it.
Did the same though I must admit in Multiplayer (X-Wing vs TIE) I was pretty intouchable in a TIE/LN and even more so in a TIE/IN. The speed and maneuverability of those things was just insane. I do recommend Squadrons as well.
Additionaly I must remark, its a shame how Disney desecrated many super heroes movies specialy recently. 😭🤮😭 They killed the marvel universe. I cant watch it anymore! Spoiled scenes and dialogs. Shame on you disney, shame on you!!! 🤬😡

Michael Stackpole, the writer of Rogue Squadron, started writing the lore framework for Battletech. I do not know why, but I feel that Stackpole taste in this movie.
The ebbs and flows of the action are done very well. Its easy to get lost in the chaos of space combat, anyone who's played battlefront or squadrons knows, but it feels quite grounded. The villain TIE fighter has a real presence in the film, and him having a chip taken out of his wing was such a smart way to point out which one he was. Fan films get a pass on dialogue when the overall story and visuals are incredible. One of my favorites, thank you so much!
Wow! I was just passing by thinking I’d be here for a few minutes tops- but I got sucked right in and had to put my busy life on hold for the next 52 minutes and 25 seconds because I was *not* gonna wait to see Wingman through to the end. This… is a *masterpiece*!
This was simply amazing. The writing, the acting, the CGI.. I actually teared up on the line of “This is not duty, this is hatred” and as the several slow, well placed shots came like some execution. I hope you are working on more content, because such talent need to be taken further.
Just finished it and I’m speechless. BRAVO to all of you! Amazing how the studios simply don’t get it… but put some real fans behind some storylines and VFX and we get a real, true Star Wars story. Well-done.

Absolutely amazing work! Hats off to all artists involved! I especially loved how you had fighters zipping through space instead of just a lot of slow dog fighting. Loved how lasers didn't always just completely obliterate a fighter, but actually chewed fighters up, rended them! Well done on all accounts!

Whenever I see "Fan Film" in a title, it's usually a short. While many are amazing, they just don't have the length to justify the "Film" title. This one not only has the length, but the quality as well. Such an amazing video that left me satisfied, wanting more, and asking questions that should never have answers.
Excellence at work in everything. Camera and editing were off the roof. SFX and VFX are top notch. I loved the work and details given into the costumes. The scratches in imperial pilot's mask were a perfect little add. A big thank you, to everyone who gave his heart and soul into this project.

Why didn't they just hyper space ram the imp star? Joking! I loved the mechanical details of the ships. And the tactics being used. Really wish I could watch this at a convention with fans, but oh well. Couple bits that really stood out was how you gave characterizations to the pilots. The Imp Ace savoring the kill by taking single separated shots and then in the effort to get at his prey, he shoots through an ally. Also the ship fighter tactics being used that highlighted their different roles like the Y-wing cluster bombing tactic to give the transport an escape vector.
I also liked how the different systems of the fighters were damaged, as opposed to disappearing in a giant fireball. And the droid damage as well. I can't say too much about how good this film is.
It was so attentive to detail, also loved the SW Squadrons systems displays in the X-Wing cockpits (although a little different I could still see the attention to detail, which really entertained me).
I used to play X-Wing the tabletop game with an old friend. This is EXACTLY what a film rendition of that game would look like! I am amazed by the level of detail your team has put into this video. It feels like we are in the cockpit, fighting the Empire to the death. The TIE fighters even move like they do in the tabletop game: they turn on a dime but cannot follow behind for long because they are just too fast to do that. Meanwhile, the X-Wings can maneuver better when following an enemy as to keep them in their sights for longer. WOW! What a wild ride from start to finish!
I just discovered this randomly looking for new sw fan film. This is unbelivable, the action scenes looks so real and clean, acting is on point too, everything is perfect.
This fan film is the very definition of excellence. It has set the bar where it should have always been for star wars, at the very top. Congratulations to all the cast and crew. You have delivered a masterpiece.
As a long time Star Wars fan and X-wing series( books, games, etc) lifer this is hands down the best thing I have ever seen outside some of the short cinimatics of Star Wars starfighter combat in the movies and games. I have always wanted to "fly" a T-65-B and this makes me want to do it even more and I love it. Thank you for this.

Hands down one of the best short films I've seen. Regardless of it being star wars, the writing/ plot/ score/ character development is well done. I'll even say better than what disney has been putting out hahaha. I can't wait to see what else you guys have in store. My buddies and I are working on a star wars horror short and I hope one day we can all work together and just do what we love.

This truly nailed the aesthetic of the Rogue and Wraith Squadron books, saw a few familiar references. I love that the X wings were beat to hell but kept flying. I'm sure the mechanics will have a field day when they get back.

at 2:35 and 4:59, in the early 90s when i was 6 one of the first games i ever played was x-wing flight simulator, ill never forget that cockpits graphics, thanks for remaking them, this was gorgeouus
19:30 that's easily one of the most brutal kills I've seen in a Star Wars film! This entire fan film was freaking phenomenal! Props and kudos to everyone involved in making this! you all created something that, in my opinion, is as good as movies like Rogue One, and the show Andor.
Still only in the first ten minutes but I really appreciate the sense of sheer speed you’ve given everyone flying around. I often feel like some of the older dogfights felt like they were happening at really slow speeds but everything here feels really clean and quick
Delightful to see when your enemy is capable, resourceful and dangerous. The technical part of the short film is also great... goes along with a good story.

This was as close to perfect as you can get! Great effects, compelling characters with fleshed out personalities. The one thing that could've bumped the time up to a feature length run time and made it the chefs kiss would've been some Jar Jar Binks as an X-Wing fighter jockey. "Meesa Jar Jar Binks and meesa blassin eyeballs!"
As a 1st AD on bucketheads, this has blown me away! The dedication and authenticity and hard work is astounding. Congratulations everyone, this is brilliant!

The best thing about R:1 was that the dogfight scenes weren't zoomy and had a consistent sense of speed and distance. This is just the opposite.

The way you use objects and concepts familiar to long time fans provides verisimilitude.
Within its limited possibilities, it developed beloved characters and high stakes. This is what a good story needs or a good RPG game needs.

Tie Fighters are designed to be cheap, expendable fighters. The normal models have no shields, hyperdrives, or life-support systems.

This is not just a "Fan Film"... This is a Homage! This is love and passion for the roots of the Golden Age of good old Star Wars. After all the latest disappointments during the past years... (well, I enjoyed Rogue One & Andor of course!) ...this Fan Film really blew me away. I can`t remember the last time I didn`t move for 50 minutes and just totally fell into something - but this film made it happen. Thank you very much for this experience. I loved flying with you. I loved being your Wingman!

I’m not usually all that into fan films…….but, that was BY FAR the best Star Wars dogfight I’ve ever seen on any an all mediums. The speed, the movement of the ships, some actual dogfighting strategy, and the graphics were first rate. Perhaps the best compliment I could pay is that this is what Star Wars is supposed to be. Kudos and congrats to all involved, for one helluva job well done.

I had lost all hope but in the darkest hour a film maker finally gets what the magic of star wars is about.
locking s-foils to go faster......showing the correct power meters when setting all power to engines...the correct sound effects.....it's like I'm a kid playing X-Wing vs TIE Fighter again!!
I'm curious, what were the 5 power settings four? Engines, shields, weapons, auxiliary, and what, life support??
I thought the deep space lighting effects were fantastic.
You know the other part they got completely right ? .. its the part you dont notice till its pointed out .. music .. background music at almost all times .. it sets the mood and without the scenes just dont work.. well done.

I am slightly biased, but that was my favorite line in the film.
This fan film had no business being as good as it was. I’m in disbelief. Echoing what someone else said, it’s not just a good Star Wars film- it’s just a solid FILM. Only a fan could know how to write a love letter like this for fellow fans. The acting and direction were professional; I lost myself in the story from the first dialogue. The visuals and just the overall feel felt like finally going home and getting the Star Wars we deserve. And the references to and easter eggs for the X-Wing computer game series … just perfection. If you know, you know :) I’m so happy this popped up on my RUclips page. I can’t wait for the sequel. …We’re getting sequels, right?!
Hey. Thank you so much! This was made for the fans, for sure! However, after seven years and approx 5000 hours of production time, a sequel will take A LONG time to be finished.
Speaking for Micha, the creator here - we wouldn't be opposed to Disney dumping a truckload of cash in our front yard and telling us to go for it. Hell, we'll even do it for half of Rebel Moon's budget. 😉 But seriously - right now, there are no plans to continue the story. You have to take into account that Micha devoted basically every spare minute he had over the last seven years to the realization of his vision. We're talking about a husband and father of two who also works a full time job. And everybody who tagged along during that amzing journey did it completely for free, too. Something like this can't just be replicated, even though I already (almost) wish that it wasn't over. It was quite a ride.

As an X-Wing veteran, I got hooked from the first minute and could not stop watching the full thing. Amazing work. I love the tactics, ship roles, personalities of the pilots, small epic moments like the Y-wing releasing a cloud of mines, cinematography. I love it all!

This was amazing. Probably the most intense, wild, amazing dogflight sequence in the entire Star Wars universe I've ever seen.
Action, Storyline, Characters, Special Effects, Camera Angles, and the special details. Everything is perfect.
And one can say you definitely are veterans who played games like X-Wing Alliance excessively. Also you guys read the X-Wing novels of Rogue & Wraith squadron.
The forward engagements of X-Wings vs TIEs. Guns, green & red laserfires blazing. And the fact TIEs are more manouverable and faster so they will turn faster and try to get behind of the X-Wings. While X-Wings are configurating their shields to maximize front shields to have better chance at surviving the first engagement. Then splitting up in pairs of two to cover each other and try to pick TIEs out. Maximizing aft-shields when followed by TIEs. Also both factions always operate in pairs of two where the wingman supports the lead.
You really really nailed it.
Props to all the hard work you guys have put in as a team.

Yes, I played X-Wing and Tie-Fighter back in the days on my friends PC (hadn't had one myself) and some Roguesquadron books are still on the shelf as well.
I really tried to put some thought into how a small scale battle with Xs Ys and Ties might look like and where the differences in fighting styles are and why all craft have a purpose next to each other.

@@michaelsbasement9021 yes, very positive. Most fan films are 20 minutes tops. That recent After Endor one was pretty good, but it didn't have all the space combat like yours. We need a big SW channel like Star Wars Theory to get eyes on this and promote it.

Did the same though I must admit in Multiplayer (X-Wing vs TIE) I was pretty intouchable in a TIE/LN and even more so in a TIE/IN. The speed and maneuverability of those things was just insane.
I do recommend Squadrons as well.

Michael Stackpole, the writer of Rogue Squadron, started writing the lore framework for Battletech.
I do not know why, but I feel that Stackpole taste in this movie.
The ebbs and flows of the action are done very well. Its easy to get lost in the chaos of space combat, anyone who's played battlefront or squadrons knows, but it feels quite grounded. The villain TIE fighter has a real presence in the film, and him having a chip taken out of his wing was such a smart way to point out which one he was. Fan films get a pass on dialogue when the overall story and visuals are incredible. One of my favorites, thank you so much!
I absolutely loved this. Watching it felt just like playing the classic X-Wing and TIE Fighter PC games from the early 90s.

Wow! I was just passing by thinking I’d be here for a few minutes tops- but I got sucked right in and had to put my busy life on hold for the next 52 minutes and 25 seconds because I was *not* gonna wait to see Wingman through to the end. This… is a *masterpiece*!
This was simply amazing. The writing, the acting, the CGI.. I actually teared up on the line of “This is not duty, this is hatred” and as the several slow, well placed shots came like some execution. I hope you are working on more content, because such talent need to be taken further.
Just finished it and I’m speechless. BRAVO to all of you! Amazing how the studios simply don’t get it… but put some real fans behind some storylines and VFX and we get a real, true Star Wars story.

Absolutely amazing work! Hats off to all artists involved! I especially loved how you had fighters zipping through space instead of just a lot of slow dog fighting. Loved how lasers didn't always just completely obliterate a fighter, but actually chewed fighters up, rended them! Well done on all accounts!

Whenever I see "Fan Film" in a title, it's usually a short. While many are amazing, they just don't have the length to justify the "Film" title.
This one not only has the length, but the quality as well. Such an amazing video that left me satisfied, wanting more, and asking questions that should never have answers.
Excellence at work in everything. Camera and editing were off the roof. SFX and VFX are top notch. I loved the work and details given into the costumes. The scratches in imperial pilot's mask were a perfect little add.
A big thank you, to everyone who gave his heart and soul into this project.

Why didn't they just hyper space ram the imp star? Joking! I loved the mechanical details of the ships. And the tactics being used. Really wish I could watch this at a convention with fans, but oh well. Couple bits that really stood out was how you gave characterizations to the pilots. The Imp Ace savoring the kill by taking single separated shots and then in the effort to get at his prey, he shoots through an ally. Also the ship fighter tactics being used that highlighted their different roles like the Y-wing cluster bombing tactic to give the transport an escape vector.
This was made for guys like you who enjoy and value all these thoughts on detail.
I also liked how the different systems of the fighters were damaged, as opposed to disappearing in a giant fireball. And the droid damage as well. I can't say too much about how good this film is.
To create all these 3D meshes of the destroyed or damaged parts was truly a pain in the a§§, but it was so worth it.
It was so attentive to detail, also loved the SW Squadrons systems displays in the X-Wing cockpits (although a little different I could still see the attention to detail, which really entertained me).

I used to play X-Wing the tabletop game with an old friend. This is EXACTLY what a film rendition of that game would look like! I am amazed by the level of detail your team has put into this video. It feels like we are in the cockpit, fighting the Empire to the death. The TIE fighters even move like they do in the tabletop game: they turn on a dime but cannot follow behind for long because they are just too fast to do that. Meanwhile, the X-Wings can maneuver better when following an enemy as to keep them in their sights for longer. WOW! What a wild ride from start to finish!
Believe it or not - we used to play tabletop X-Wing ourselves all the time a couple of years ago. 🙂

As a long time Star Wars fan and X-wing series( books, games, etc) lifer this is hands down the best thing I have ever seen outside some of the short cinimatics of Star Wars starfighter combat in the movies and games. I have always wanted to "fly" a T-65-B and this makes me want to do it even more and I love it. Thank you for this.

Hands down one of the best short films I've seen. Regardless of it being star wars, the writing/ plot/ score/ character development is well done. I'll even say better than what disney has been putting out hahaha. I can't wait to see what else you guys have in store. My buddies and I are working on a star wars horror short and I hope one day we can all work together and just do what we love.

Absolutely one of the best Star Wars fan films I've seen! You guys nailed it! I just randomly came across this, and I'm blown away. Keep up the stellar work, I hope you make more films like this. This truly nailed the aesthetic of the Rogue and Wraith Squadron books, saw a few familiar references. I love that the X wings were beat to hell but kept flying. I'm sure the mechanics will have a field day when they get back.

Still only in the first ten minutes but I really appreciate the sense of sheer speed you’ve given everyone flying around. I often feel like some of the older dogfights felt like they were happening at really slow speeds but everything here feels really clean and quick

This was as close to perfect as you can get! Great effects, compelling characters with fleshed out personalities. The one thing that could've bumped the time up to a feature length run time and made it the chefs kiss would've been some Jar Jar Binks as an X-Wing fighter jockey. "Meesa Jar Jar Binks and meesa blassin eyeballs!"
