- Опубликовано: 3 фев 2024
- Powerful atmospheric river event is hammering Southern California from Santa Barbara through Los Angeles, with short range models now showing over a foot of rainfall above LA. This will cause dangerous and life threatening flash flooding. This video shows the very beginning of this historic weather event.
I love that Reed is so passionate about all types of severe weather. His enthusiasm is inspirational.
It is truly
Yes I concur it's quite the spectacle
"Big Boulder here." Idk why but that intro line made me chuckle 🤭 Also I agree, reed is the absolute best!
Reed is Soo good reporting 💙 he's Top Notch # 1
Yeah, it's sure nice to FINALLY see a field news reporter that does a good job at showing us the great action shots and being able to explain so much within just one sentence making us feel like were really there! BUT ALL of the news agencies will NOT hire him because he is a white men.
And it doesn't matter how good this white news reporter is, nobody will hire him for doing field news reports. They ONLY hire Hispanics, Blacks and mixed-race people that have limited social skills, lack of school education and the inability to do a good a job as this white field reporting is doing.
This is how nature corrects itself. After years maybe decades of low rainfall this is how it renews that and corrects it the other way.
Especially when the govoner doesn't collect the rainwater; God is making a lake. 😊
The entire state will be covered in green, California poppies, and wild mustard up and down the coast this spring. It will be beautiful!
I hope so!!!
You bet! Gorgeous 🌼🌺 🪻🪻. Lupine will smell wonderful!
We know this thing is big when Reed is documenting it.
Stay safe as well as everyone else there.

It's gonna be much worse than mainstream news is telling you.
it's the END , a tree fell , CLIMATE CHANGE is killing a tree , PRAY for us , we might get WET, and catch a cold
Reed Timmer will always be the best Meteorologist Storm Chase RUclipsr.
I totally agree with you!!! God knew we would need him for such a time as this.
Prayers to everyone in California Including my Familia🙏

Turrible just turrible.
@@willbluefield5776 I have a question for you, do you read the Bible?
@@willbluefield5776 If you don’t I challenge you read it and get a more clear picture of what’s going on.
One MIGHT think that God Almighty is trying to clean up California!!
It will be the perfect time to go panning for some gold as soon as floods move out.
Oh my goodness you are right!
We find trucks in our washes after flash floods
Or better building resavoirs
@sheribrummett1960 easy to pan those out
Where area can you pan for gold?
I bet there’s lots of gold in that dry creek bed coming down
Secondarily, you are at the top of San Marcos Pass in Santa Barbara at the turn off of West Camino Cielo also where I used to live. The annual average rainfall rate up there is almost 3 times of downtown Santa Barbara. That place is absolutely famous for the orographic effect. It is 8:41 PM and the rain gauge for that location is already registering 11 inches! It is phenomenal how much rain that area gets compared to other areas in the county.
I used to live on WCC as well! 🥰
Beautiful and wild.
Regret ever leaving 😟
@@marya6445 yes! I loved it too! I lived all the way out by the gun range for seven years. It's wild up there, and the climate is way different than downtown Santa Barbara. I used to keep a log book and one year I recorded 82 inches of rain.
We used to camp on Camino Cielo. Beautiful country.
Thank you Dr. Timmer. Stay safe out there.
I miss the beauty that is California. I lived there for 56 years. Had to escape that place two years ago. It’s a beautiful state but for how long 😢
Same here. Lived in Santa Barbara/Montecito for 23 years. Left over 20 years ago. It was wonderful. Cherished memories.
Sadly, the planned implosion of America is on course. Mill Valley in the Early 80s. Glad I saw Cali when I did.
Should have stayed and fought for it; that's true love; it starts in the city you live
The problems in the cities have no direct impact on the natural beauty of this state. The nature far and wide surpasses political issues. People need to get over their politics.
Astounding! I was born and raised in SoCal and I cannot remember a time of such wild and wicked weather. I pray for all the people in California who are impacted by this storm that they are safe and warm. 😮
Weather patterns are measured in 50, 100, 300 and 500 year cycles. Here in Kamlopps BC we are in a 500 year floodplain. I doubt it but that is what the "scientists" say.
I'm also from SoCal and it's more common than people think.
Been here since the 80s and last time I saw rain this hard was during an El Nino in the late 90s early 2000s. Then we had a long drought, but last few years it has rained a little.
It's raining cats and dogs here in L.A. Everyone stay indoors if you can. I see no cars on a busy street outside my house. Stay strong.😮

Cloud seeding causes storms.
It's an I-40 River! I'm familiar with some of the areas he is showing. They are prone to hazardous rock slides and flooding. Thanks Reed for the amazing coverage.
it's the END , a tree fell , CLIMATE CHANGE is killing a tree , PRAY for us , we might get WET, and catch a cold
This guy is great love the intensity.
Like the screen format split -- you driving and seeing where you are. Safe travels.
Yeah it super helpful!
I like it too!

Gotta say i love Reed, especially my dad. We loved watching you on the weather channel, and seeing your passion for weather is so wholesome and still brings me and my dad happy for 25+ years. When i see him on weekends, we usually catch up by watching an episode or two. Thanks, Reed, and keep happy chasing!!!
I’ve never felt wind like this!
Prayers for everyone ❤🙏
2nd Enoch 20:3 please read this verse
Lots of cleansing rain.
Outstanding work. You are the best. Stay safe out there. Loved it when you say look at her rip.
Oh gosh, it looks scary.. stay safe out there. Prayers to everyone.
🙏🙏 🙏 ❤️ ❤❤
I’m way up north and it was crazy up here. Wind was insane!. Lots of rain.
I am a Canadian and even I know LA has flood channels specifically designed for these "once in a decade" or "once in a lifetime floods". Wouldnt have built them if this did not happen long ago.
Not the place I’d want to be driving around today. Thanks for video!
An inch of rain per hour...yikes. thsts A LOT of water!
Thank you so much for covering our state Reed!! Gret to have keeping us updated
Stay safe Reed and never stop Chasing
I don't know who the hell u are, but u sure got some great coverage of the storm. I can even say that this stuff is better reporting than our local channels.
Great work bud! Stay safe.
You seriously don't know who Reed is? That is rare but you should definitely check out some of his other videos. Especially his tornado chase videos. He is the GOAT of chasing and extreme weather in general!
Super cool Reed! So glad to see you made it to my little town, Ojai (O-Hi). Hopefully we got more coming! I absolutely love this stuff!
Oh, HI ! From Fillmore! 😁
@dagnytaggart5216 I was in Santa Paula and Fillmore Thursday! 😆 The Santa Clara was already rolling. I'd love to see it tomorrow.
ur parents must have net worth in millions. please share their occupation and net worth. long live the ojai
NOAA now admits that they manipulate the weather. Weather has been manipulated since rhe late 1800's and was used in the diet war to slow down Vietnamese transportation of military logistics.
@@seanmoore8550 That’s an odd request to s stranger.
😮 Great Reporting...hang on tight everyone❤
Wow, first time catching this channel. Better, more informative, and more timely content than any other source I’ve seen on this event. Great job. More please.
First time really? Welcome! Reed and team are great. He's one of the best meteorologists out there and has a great passion for learning everything he can about weather to help people be more prepared. He's very enthusiastic about his passion and we love him for it! Enjoy! He always has a lot of great content!
Thanks for the welcome vibes. I live in the area he was in in this vid (Calibu, aka the Malibu Canyon side of Calabasas). He posted a great vid on X earlier of Malibu creek turned river, right next to my place. He’s clearly a master of his craft. Cheers
DOwn comes the rain, washed out goes the houses, up goes the insurance rates. Then fires, rinse, repeat.
It's kind of true! I lost everything I owned in a wildfire in Santa Barbara and then a year later I got trapped on my property because the road slipped out. But we all love it here and we will never leave. I have traveled all over the world and this is one of the nicest places on the planet that one could possibly live. Absolutely love it here.
Happening everywhere now not just CA. Climate change is real
It's a hell of a place to live.

You sound like a true native.
I so know where this is. Being from Cali this is so common in these areas, especially in San Bernardino area. Love this video Reed. Miss my hometown. Stay safe. Much Love ❤
Steady as you go my friend. So good to see you, after that drive through the mountains earlier. Love from Houston💟
Hope everyone in SB and Ojai are ok. ❤️
Brave Reed = excellent footage
Please be safe Dr. Reed. Thank you for what you do... you are the best.
Awesome work 👍 thx. You will get it done ✅
Here in Simi Valley, Ventura County, we have had rain and wind all day today. Luckily, we live on a hill.
Been watching the stream- it’s crazy out there!! Look at it move! 🏃🏽♀️ hoping everyone stays inside or wherever is safe 🙏🏻
Love your spirit and enthusiasm.
Thanks for posting this. I wondered how other local areas were doing. I had to move away from the windows today. Wind was crazy and trees were whipping violently.
I know what orographic lift is from reading about it, but it sure is cool to get a visual.
Back in 2011, I moved to West Central Texas a little west of Ballinger Texas. You could see forever out there. I found it amazing studying a four hour satellite loop when a storm, dry line or cold front was approaching and going outside to get a visual on what I was seeing on satellite. It really helped put things into perspective. Weather is fascinating!
Thanks for educating us! You're the best!
It was wild to see the condensation happening
Blessed be the name of the LORD 🙌 ALLELUIA 🙌 A-men' 🌿
Reed. Just wanted to say that your team did a great job modding and presenting the livestream. There were some trouble makers in the chat but they didn't last long.
Hope you're dry and getting some sleep. 🙂👍
Awesome coverage of a more than awesome atmospheric river and storm. Thank you, "Reed Timmer," While untold tens of thousands 'curious' visitors here, SO many are beneficiaries of your in-the-thick-of-it reporting we should 'chip in' gas money for all that back-and-forth driving necessary to bring us these incredible scenes.
"Stay Safe!"'
The most up-to-date Info I’ve watched so far, very professional
I've been watching you cover severe storms all over the country for many years now. i never thought id see you in my neck of the woods but thank you for showing what's going on around us with this crazy weather were experiencing. Keep up the great work!!! Stay Safe out there!!!
Reed is awesome. Thanks so much for the warnings and information. Brave man
ThankYou4Sharing Reed !!! ❤ 🕊 MuchLove N Prayers2!!!
Thank you, Reed. Lytle Creek in the San Bernardino Mountains has already had almost 9 inches of rain since midnight Monday morning.
thanks for the frontline report. BE SAFE!
Thank You for Your great footage, Reed. 🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am 71 now this is nothing out of the norm for me growing up on the west coast of Vancouver Island it was always like this every year.
Almost looks like it is snowing, awesome video love it. Those storms are exciting to watch as long as your not in danger and nobody gets hurt or no damage to homes or vehicles.
It did snow in the mountains. He's not around the peaks because they really aren't accessible.
Stay safe Reed. Thanks for all the great work.
Thanks for the report Reed it is appreciated.
Been watching you guys all day thanks for the ride! That was awesome 👏🌧💨⛈👍❤️
Would you ever keep the streams up? I was there for about half of it today but would love to watch the parts I missed
Moved away from California 3 years ago. After spending my first 59 years there. I'm curious if they'll still have a drought come summer. Hopefully not! Thanks for the great coverage Dr. Timmer!
Oh jeez.. not looking forward to this during morning commute in San Diego 😭
This is weather reporting at its best..
Thank you for the video. Crazy!! Stay safe.
They should divert that water to Lake Meade or Lake powell.
I hope everyone there will be all right! I feel bad that people there are going throug this. At the same time, I'm glad that this atmospheric river isn't pointed at the PNW yet...looks like it's sliding up the coast though.
It's just insane. Last summer and summer before, it was all about the droughts, where is the rain and so on ... and now, so much rain and snow, everything just flooding .... thanks to Reed and the team for keeping us updated.
Well when you muipulate the skies......
When I was a kid, it was called rain. Now it's a 24 hour a day Hollywood spectacular streamed non stop on youtube/CNN/local news. "But it's so much more serious now!!!" Yeah, San Gabriel foothills had roads wash out every year, the streets were rivers with boulders bounding & cracking their way down to flat land. Every so often the cave ins were so deep that there was a waterfall for a couple of days.
Excellent video!! Thank you for sharing with us
Omgosh. 😳
Stay Safe Dr. Reed! ☺️✌️❤️🦋🙏
What an amazing video Reed thats good footage you took of the bad weather be safe out there
Prayers sent!
This is one of the best, no Dr. Reed is the best when it comes to weather, please heed his word!
I’m very grateful that I live in Draper Utah, this will snow in the mountains and rain in the valleys,it’s a misconception that California is always sunny and beautiful, they are truly suffering right now and could use our prayers.
Great footage per usual soul brother Reed.
Be safe.
Thanks for including locations.
Welcome back to our area again!
That atmospheric river footage is awesome!
Thanks for real time info❤
You're the man, Reed.
I love Reed!!! He just used my favorite grad school word: "Orthogonal." I loved using that word!! I have never seen Hwy 101 look anything like that!!!
Great coverage, Reed! Safe travels. 👍👍
I’ve been there and am very familiar with The Santa Ynez mountains. Incredible footage.
Great job be awesome Mr. Reed. Wind is no joke with many trees in the way.
Only if we can save that run off instead going to the beaches.
I love the use of weather terminology!
Reed Timmer is here? Geeze, now I know this thing is serious!
Great work Mr. Timmer.
Reporting 50 years ago - We're seeing a cold front move in with heavy rain and possible flooding. 10 years ago - We're seeing a polar vortex move in with possibly 20 feet of snow, stock your food and stay inside. 5 years - We're seeing an atmospheric river system bringing heavy rain and snow...Now - We have a CATEGORY 5 Atmospheric river....I've seen these same rain and snow weather conditions throughout my 60+ years, but for some reason we need to invent new names for them now...What a joke ...
Must be pretty incredible to experience this weather first hand...
Stay safe out there Big Daddy!
Wow!! I hope people can stay safe. 🌧🌊
Insane weather!

People, don't understand how much better the camera could see than you can out the window.
There should be gold laying everywhere after a rain like that
God bless you Reed
very awesome, thank you
had no idea that a "Atmospheric river" was even a thing.
My mom grew up here in the 1930-1950's and I used to stay in Ojai and the grandparents house. This is crazy!
Here 8n Florida we had a eventful afternoon tornadoes 🌪
Well the trying to make that happen in Los Angeles too the mayor casually said yesterday and you might have some brief tornadoes well if you saw the streaks in the sky Friday and Saturday........
