    Genuinely appreciate the amount of work and knowledge that went into this video. I just finished my first trial trifecta as DK tank and still learned a lot. Always reminds me of the immensely high skill ceiling for tanking.
    Any time I'm asked how to tank I give my own take on it and in the end refer to your videos. Really hope for more in-depth guides, especially for necro and sorc tanks. Keep it up, this is a necessary and amazing format!

    Very nice to see you making videos for a broader audience. There's something in here for everyone. You show the basics that we can read from the tooltips, but also tell us from your extensive experience what really works and when you may need it. The video editing is also great! Your tempo has also slowed down to fit us who don't go for world records, but just want to learn more.

      As a New Tank make sure to avoid Alcast and definitely avoid "The Tank Club" because ones a meme builder and Tank CLub likes to steal builds, Their Icyheart build was a nefas build their ice staff tank was originally Xynodes Nature bounty build and their Olo Tank build which started Olo Tanking was a copy of my Day 1 summerset Tank build.

    • @o0mystogan0o
      @o0mystogan0o 7 месяцев назад +2

      Xynode is a bad resource for tank information as well. He’ll tell you to do something one way but his tank is set up the exact opposite(like wrong traits and enchants). Also his tank builds just have way too much health 50k+ which you don’t need in this game or want in some fights(ones with max hp dots).

      Xynodes level of expertise is on the same level as about 90% of every Trial Prog guild. I tend to avoid listening to them it's best for people to make up their own minds, but that's from my own personal experience. But I was playing long enough to have the knowledge needed to create a meta that changed how the whole player base does Tanking. @@o0mystogan0o

    Thanks for the very informative video. Do you count the armor buff from puncturing remedy ser towards armor cap? I noticed that your merged skill setup for console players doesn't have a source of major resolve. Is that because you get some armor from puncturing remedy?

    • @Hyperioxes
      @Hyperioxes  6 месяцев назад +2

      No, the armor from Puncturing Remedy isn't reliable enough so you'll always need a Major Resolve skill. I must've made a mistake while editing the video, the skills that should've been shown at the moment when I'm talking about console setups are the same ones as for example at 1:02:00, so look at them instead

  • @Reapersmovies

    Great video, very informative and well articulated. Since your video was so well done I have a question for you that I can't seem to find a proper answer for anywhere. It's a 1 bar question actually. FTR: I'm rather new to ESO and just recently started tanking and to make life easiest for me I'd like to try 1 bar tanking first. So I was wondering if you knew exactly how the Oakensoul ring affects the back bar enchants, skills and gear? Specifically when dealing with the possible still usefulness of such things as passives, weapons enchants, and traits.
    In other words, does the ring completely negate everything from the back bar, or do somethings like passives, weapon enchants and/or traits still work? I realize you can't switch to and activate anything manually, but I've heard somethings still take effect. Thanks.

    For the weapon types section you mention that sword and board is the more defensive option - but if im at armour cap already, ice staff give me ancient knowledge passive for reduce block cost and block damage mitigation of 20% as a passive. I lose a damage shield but im already spending stamina on blocking and castinf stone giant - so keeping ice staff up for me feels more defensive?

    *Armor Cap* -> Resistances are hard capped at 33,000 so once you reach 33k Spell or Physical, anything extra that you have does nothing to benefit your character. At 33k you gain 50% mitigation and for each 660 resistances, it's equivalent to 1% mitigation.

    I thought resistance cap shouldn't be a big factor since when blocking, resistances do not apply. I learned this from Tank Club. Resistances only matter when you're not holding block. So I'm guessing people perma blocking shouldn't invest to the resistance cap while more experienced tanks that use their block when it counts should prioritize the resistance cap? Is this correct? I'm a returning player that mains tank for the past 2 years in vet content/trials after switching from a DPS main.

    • @Hyperioxes
      @Hyperioxes  4 месяца назад +2

      Resistances do apply when blocking, although they don't matter that much because combined with the block mitigation you can reduce the attack's damage to a pretty low value even with low armor. But you can't ignore armor even if you're going to permablock because not every attack can be blocked. Even if you hold your block up all the time you're going to take a lot of damage from DoTs, some AoEs, etc.

    very detailed ultra well explained guide but I still have to hard disagree, making regen tanks is just stupid as you can't regen stamina while blocking and with your own logic, "good tanks know not to perma block" - even tho again I wanna disagree, there are literal dungeon bosses on HM that light attack you for 20-25k even at full cap armor and even protections up, so again perma blocking (sadly) is the way to go, not even going to mention lags (server side, my internet is good) or bugs where a boss would do animations without you even noticing them and in fast succession so if you aren't blocking and get double tapped 20k LA you will generally die; and to circle back cause I made a huge detour, if you know not to perma block, then you can heavy attack and just get all those resources in one hit rather than waiting 6 seconds for your stupid regen to do it's job.
    Unless you go in prog teams that are like 0.01% of the content and players out there, doing trifectas, doing the build like that is bad, since you will end up being a "pro" tank in some pug or helping a friend and you die cause "oh no my healer didn't send me orbs" or "the other tank died and I have to tank 2 bosses and 3 ads and I don't have all sturdy so I will be out of stamina in 5 seconds".
    So I would stick to sturdy in most situations. I mean sure you can have like 3 sets if you are rich or crazy and just swap them around but if something happens mid fight you will probably just call a wipe rather than recover, from my perspective I came back from being solo alive in pugs and ressing everyone back up cause the "MT" died (we were on the fire dragon in vSS) in many cases.
    If the game would work perfectly (we even had a block bug ffs) and people played like top tier guilds, I agree with you, but saying "you're still learning the game so you use sturdy and block cost" is so wrong and elitist. Which proves me right when I join prog teams and I own even tho I've probably never done that HM before. As long as you keep your buffs and debuffs up, there is no right or wrong way to tank, unless you die which for me doesn't happen.
