With it's sealed bags and plastic box, Michael and Reuben are glad to see the changes that have been made (and feel at least partly responsible for them!) Good size canvas to engrave custom designs on the old bars.
My first 10g is soo very old , lovely patina and reverse swan from a dealer so genuine. I love the fact it’s got a history and seen life makes it interesting but I’d love to own one of these too .. I’m working up to one

Don’t need certificates I don’t have any 1kg but have a 10g really old one that’s been around ages reverse swan it’s got patina, very interesting and I didn’t need papers to want it, it was tested I was happy.
Love new design 🥰 dream is to get one one day.
Do you sell the boxes or empty tubes for new people for storage ?
I just spoke to the Perth Mint. they won't sell these plastic boxes separately which is a shame for people who have bought plenty of 1 kilo bars previously.

I remember picking up my 1 kilo Perth mint bar and asking if it was a buy back as I was shocked at how rough it looked.
There were certainly some rough ones... I held back from including some of the photos taken of the older style bars... but yes, absolutely one of the reasons we're happy with the upgrade!
I have bought many bars from Perth Mint over the years. Silver can be 2nd hand or new. Depends on what they have in stock. You will still receive the same amount on resale to them
@Wait Awhile explorer And to us! Silver is silver, doesn't matter if it's new or second hand. We just differentiate between the two because we've acquired the second-hand ones cheaper than buying from a Mint or refinery, therefore we can sell them a bit cheaper.

But is it made from Australian mined silver ?
Unlike their "Australian origin" gold kilo, there's no specification that it is on the silver. Certainly possible and some might be, but not limited to being.
They should have added Serial Numbers with the Upgrade. Royal Canadian Mint Provides it. Better to have it than not.

As this becomes the new standard I think we'll be looking back on the older bars with mixed feelings... a bit of nostalgia, but also glad that we've moved on! Nothing wrong with hanging onto those older ones :)

While the Plastic Box is an upgrade, is there a crack in the corner of that bottom box? Did they skimp on the specs (too thin?)?

We were live when they went up on Perth's website initially, so I'd say we've been fairly on the pulse. Although it has taken a WHILE for them to actually end up in our hands. Certainly not going to complain if Perth deliveries to us become faster!

Is the new packaging to minimise big stackers from testing the purity? PM is the only refiner that i know of had purity issues so far😂

We won't be selling them as separate items to make sure we have them for people purchasing a full box, however if we end up with spares it's something we're happy to give away to anyone coming through the shop. It's just not practical to ship them out, so either buying a full box, or waiting a while for us to have spares and then swinging by the shop is your best bet!

No other dealer has the right to sell them without paying bn a cut of the premium don’t open the old box it’s a collector item
Honestly we're just happy that standards have been lifted a bit and our hand is in it slightly! I still want to open that box as well as compare it to some of the older bars as I think it's a video that'll last for a few years to come! The history of the Perth Mint Kilo!

I dislike the paper COA. I don't want to keep up with it.
It's a topic that splits a lot of people. I tend to agree for just standard bullion bars. Things in numismatic boxes with a bit of a premium is a different story, but why complicate a standard investment bar? I think Perth have made the right call.
2nd hand buybacks scratches or not still worth the same as new on resale. Perth Mint sells 2nd hand and new and buys them back for the same price. Makes no difference new or 2nd hand.
I thought 9999 is “Pure” and 999 was fine. I don’t care either way though.
