excellent video... i have an SK-8135 and havent been able to find a keyboard that does what this does (buttons, volume knob, tall keys)... thank you for putting this video together as cleaning it is all it needs
I'm trying to put the space bar back on but even when the plastic bar is in the two little clip, it still stuck down and wont come up. Are you sure there weren't any spring or something to help the space bar go back up once it is down?
Hey I'm unable to open the backboard of the keyboard, I have a HP KU-0316 and after removing the screws im unable to to open it cuz like on the sides it seems to be attached by something. Any solution?
I did mine as you explained (except for using the dishwasher) and it worked perfectly, My keyboard was a even worse than i thought when i opened it up and now looks brand new, instead of using the dishwasher, i just scrubbed the casing with soapy water and a small paint brush. once left to dry, i put it all back together with no issues. Thanks for the tutorial!
After opening the case of my keyboard, I've noticed the quality of my keyboard. Yours have those rubber sheet for the key pad. While mine are individual rubber for each key like those in gamepad... What a torture...
I cannot pop out that upper plastic shit...please give me a solution...WAITING FOR REPLY...I AM SUBSCRIBING YOU...BUT PLEASE REPLY...I PUTTED OUT ALL THE SCREWS but it is stuck from the part where the DELL is written...what should i do ???
handwashing the keys in warm water and some dishwasher detergent works good. I just cleaned my keyboard and this step helps in cleaning the individual keys...
Holy shit, theres like hair, dandruff (I think) finger nail pieces, dead skin, some red shit, what looks like salt, and apearently a bent out paper clip, Crazy shit right here.
On my Keyboard Circuit thing or whatever it's called. There's brown stains on it. Can I clean that or no. Btw I'm talking about what the rubber like thing lays on top on.
This is crazy , on most keyboards you take the screws off the bottom and that way you can soak the whole top assembly in hot water and soap , dry and reassemble it like new
Its crazy how many screws some of these keyboards have, at my work a few years ago they were upgrading the system and there was a 7000 wireless MS keyboard laying around and i asked my boss if i could have it and he said yes, i didn't know how expensive those things are especially with the mouse too,i eat and drink over mine all the time so last night i decided to clean it and take it apart,my god, i am mechanically inclined but this bastard was a challenge, soooo many screws, its ridiculous, you would think it was a suspension bridge or something of that nature, keyboards spend 99.9 % of their life laying down so its not like they are getting jostled around vertically, there is no need for that many screws.
I looked up this topic, having found years of crud and hair (yes, hair) under my keys. While I might not go in to such detail, I have been emboldened to try a deep clean, probably this weekend! :)
"2 types of keyboards: one that has taller keys and one that has shorter keys" Uhh, that'd be membrane and mechanical, height of the keys doesn't matter

Dear The41Wheat,
An immediate response is appreciated. Because I have a query.
Does your keyboard still need a spacer?
I did mine as you explained (except for using the dishwasher) and it worked perfectly, My keyboard was a even worse than i thought when i opened it up and now looks brand new, instead of using the dishwasher, i just scrubbed the casing with soapy water and a small paint brush. once left to dry, i put it all back together with no issues. HighwaterTech hahaha
I would NOT use the dishwasher, some plastics can't take the heat and you can warp the plastic rendering the plastic junk.
I use that exact keyboard for gaming xD I'm saving up for a Razer Blackwidow Chroma though :)
Did u get it I’m still stuck with a shitty one lol
its 4 years bro what happend?
As fellow microsoft wired keyboard 600 gamers we must hear the rest of this story
