The most impressive thing was how you just calmly carried on as if your vehicle hadn't just tried to get you arrested for wreckless driving and endangerment.
After re-watching, at 6:23, just before takeover, the display does show it as gray and the tentacle changes to the right lane. So prob. this would have just been an awkward break + maneuver rather than anything critical, wdyt?
Surface streets first… as all of my previous Tesla cars followed this process… then came highway, is my prediction with CYBERTRUCK! Excellent job by R&D and the engineers who are working overtime before Christmas holidays to get this to CT Owners, prior to standard CT being launch for sale in 2025!
Kinda makes sense that it takes 10months to accumulate a dataset for the cybertruck. Especially given that the customers need to learn maneuvering this thing before they produce quality data.
Sure they will, just like the awesome wipers. haha. jk. It's not "super cautious" for me, a lot of 'duh idk to do moments' it freezes on for me, there is completely no traffic in any direction. (24 M3). I agree with you Omar, not having FSD in a car feels very naked and foreign to me now after a few months.
Yeah, but its super embarrassing. You'd think getting the car to move when turning on FSD is like priority number 1, besides not crashing, when building a self driving system. That's like building a flashlight that doesn't produce light when you turn it on, nothing happens until you smack it a few times. Then it works. That's the definition of cheap, and Tesla's had this issue for a minute now. Not a good look. 12.5 has just been bad. I prefer 12.4.3 or even 12.3.6. V12.5 jabs the brakes for no reason and almost fails simple, single lane turns by putting wheels over double solid yellow lines or almost running into grass. Needs to jab brakes and correct mid turn like a 15yo child's first time ever driving. Its uncomfortable. 12.4 sucked at speed control, but was great at comfort.
Yes, it’s some sort of bug. My MY does the same thing; it simply won’t start from a parking spot. Super minor, I would barely even call it an issue TBH…
The CT must have a much higher degree of “tuning” given the speed-based sensitivity towards steering. Also, I’m curious what conversions had to be made from a controls perspective given the completely different electrical architecture of the CT. What’s so nuts is, much like hardware 4 the CT has an incredibly high performance ceiling as a far as FSD goes, looking at the long-term.

"its going 29 in a 25, which is about right"... no that's actually breaking the law... If we're engineering vehicles to disregard the rules of the road that's not a good way to operate. It shouldn't be setting off those signs telling it to slow down if it was operating "about right". "39 in a 35, not bad" 4MPH over the limit... It'd be called a "speed suggestion" if it wasn't a LIMIT.
6:23 Was this caused by a significant difference in the camera position on the cybertruck? It seems to me that E2E AI would be difficult to optimize a little. I think It's gonna be ok finally but.
These videos never drive on interstates. In Houston my FSD misses exits and gets in the wrong lane regularly. FSD seems made for small trips on surface streets.
For a first release I think it looks really solid. In comparison to older builds this last year I would say it looks safe to release and then update with fixes/improvements. It looks like Tesla has already pushed out a small public release. Teslafi is showing 3 trucks were updated last night.
I didn't watch it through . . . seems like it would be better to wait until they get the bugs out . . . until you can talk to the car instead of having to touch things every few minutes. I guess FSD is just now getting installed on the truck?

For the first version of FSD for a new vehicle with wildly different dimensions to any other Tesla...not terrible. Obviously it would've been nice if it hadn't almost driven over the median on the left turn. Nothing that they can't hopefully address with future releases. This is only Early Access, after all.
