I don’t c any thing well. It’s just moving with traffic. Normal drivers will use the U loop after terminal 1 or 2 to avoid tbit as everyone knows tbit is the worst terminal in lax. Omar, you have an amazing dad; treasure these memories. FSD 12.5.3.1 still has issues with hairpin turns and narrow canyon roads I tested - it typically drives way too slow, holding up traffic (like 12mph in a 25mph zone). On the upside, I’d rather it be safe than take unnecessary risk.
I love FSD, and use it everywhere I go. Yes, it's not cheap. But the amount of sanity you gain in the dense urban and suburban areas without having to lose your mind, is a breath of fresh air. You can watch the road and the traffic around you, but focus on supervising the car, instead of just focusing on the road ahead. But that's what more learning will fix. And just like us as teenagers learning to drive, we made lots of mistakes ourselves, and have gotten a lot better over the years. Same for FSD. Let's keep helping it learn, and it'll then be able to return the favor and help everyone, and become a reliable means of transportation for those that have disabilities.

Both of u are living in crazy land! FSD defeats the purpose of getting places quickly. Most people have schedules to keep and don’t want to devote an additional 20-30% drive time for EVERYWHERE they go.
Maybe you can't play Water while driving for the video or your dad but I sure as hell can. Playing that song made watching you get out of LAX more relaxing.
Your dad's question around 42:00 about how many gas stations vs charging stations made me curious. According to google, California has 13,786 gas stations. It has 448 Tesla supercharging locations, but between 10,000 and 15,000 (different numbers from different sources) fast chargers across all companies and between 100,000 and 150,000 publicly available level 2 or higher. That is not counting private home chargers. So there are about as many fast charging locations now as there are gas stations, and 10x more publicly available charging locations than gas stations. Truly EV friendly. I'm up in Idaho where, I'll just be nice and say we aren't there yet. If you're off the interstate, you're going to have trouble charging here. Northern California, not so many yet, either. But at least in central and southern California, there are chargers almost everywhere, with more being added all the time.
Impressive, i now feel Tesla will crack the code within reasonable time! The sad thing is that.. besides us sitting here, people have no clue about what FSD is capable of.
You should clip from 14:35 to 15:15 then upload to X as well as RUclips as it was amazing as your dad say it like a stunt driver that is just excellent.
Latest issue I am having twice now same spot is it is supposed to turn left and it puts on the right signal like it is going onto the on ramp for the highway which is the opposite direction. Store 500 feet from me shows on map it needs to turn left and yet tries to get on highway.
There is a company who is working on a car with 100miles of range for those who want it. It's called aptera and they did a lot of work and change to make a car with that many miles and on a small battery too.
That's great I did the same thing in my 2024 model X hardware 4 long range and it was great I can't wait for the day you fly in to LAX and you summon your car from home an it pics you up all by itself #myowenrobo taxi 🚖 😂
Honestly, i prefer in ANY emergency situation that you're able to physically grab onto the wheel or pedals and quickly avoid collision or whatever. I'm just worried about that if it's all tech and no e-control kind of mechanic then all it takes is one bad electrical connection or a cyber attack that'll render the car inoperable and leave you easy targets. Not spreading hate, I'm just stating my personal opinion.
Not to mention situations where there are no lane markings. For example a lot of large events such as fairs, air shows etc you park in the dirt. No lanes. Or other situations such as construction or detours. I have had many times when a freeway entrance was closed and Google maps just kept routing me back there over and over. I had to get 5 miles away before it stopped trying to route me back there.
@@bigbaddms very true, my road was just given a fresh blacktop so no lane markers yet, so that would be another situation where their will be no FSD usage
Yeah, unless its in the future when self driving is completely implemented and people literally sleeping in their car while it drives the whole night. But at that point, we also should have "wireless" charging where the car charges itself as well on wireless charging spots. But as of right now, the current distance looks like the sweet spot.
@@teipkep Or.. the car could pull into the charger and then make some sort of noise, we could even install something that makes noise... maybe a noisemaker... no, maybe just a speakerWAIT A SEC THEY ALREADY HAVE THOSE!!! to wake you up to plug it in.
Must say I am impressed on how good the fsd system works in LA. When it does it so good I think isn’t bad that all the people in Europe don’t get some of the features. Like Norway is a much easier place to drive than LA
Maybe… there are instances of immature aggressive drivers closely cutting off a Tesla to cause the Tesla to brake hard. (Videos on RUclips). I’m not sure if it’s a good idea at this point to advertise who or what is driving. Why do you think it’s a good idea ?
EV sales in Norway August 2024 was 94% and we have 50% EVs actually on the roads. Most petrol stations have fast chargers and basically there are chargers almost everywhere. The goal is to sell only zero emissions cars from 2026, but it will not be a law against buying ICE. As BEVs are getting cheaper it will be the only cars that makes sense as long as you can charge it at a fair price.
While this is true, it is a biased statistic. Since it would seem that if people own a house they would be more inclined to purchase an EV vs someone at an apartment with no charging capabilities. The more important statistic (which we don't readily have) is, how many people without homes would buy an EV if they had easy access to charging at their residence.
Full self driving will make the desire to own a vehicle fade away like the telephone landline. It wont happen right away but as people get used to ordering a ride that arrives in under 5 minutes and takes you anywhere you need to go for less than it would cost to drive yourself. That is when people will start putting off purchasing new vehicles.
FSD needs more training on lane positioning? 7:39 Lead car with FHD (Full Human-Driving) repositions car closer to the left side of his lane to allow a safe buffer zone between his car and the wide body bus. 7:44 FSD does not reposition to left side of the lane as it moves beside the wide body bus and stayed on the middle of its lane the whole time.
I don’t understand why people are in such a rush to completely remove steering wheels already. seems like we should have fully autonomous cars (without supervision) for a year or two before considering removing steering wheels
Because then that will force the issue. The car can only self drive. But yeah it seems to me there are way too many instances of needing to steer yourself
39:55, ...even if you're an Uber driver...: An Uber driver told me his brand new Model Y started out with a 200-mile range on a full charge (ie. 85% top charge to 20% bottom discharge). Yes, 200 miles. After 1 year of Uber driving, his car racked up 68,000 miles and daily supercharging - every day. The range has gone from 200 miles now to only 150 miles. He would not charge above 85% because not only it takes long...it hurts the battery more...and, it doesn't get all that much more miles for anything above 85%. Also, he would try to avoid running the car below the 20% in hope of prolonging the life of the battery. As it stands, again, only 150 miles is the most he can go before he has to charge again. One...Fifty...no joke. So, let's forget about the EPA range. It's not even a farce. It's a fart.
Interesting around 10 minutes where they are in a tunnel and FSD's display is imagining that there's probably oncoming lanes on the other side of the wall.
I drive a 2005 Honda. Haven't had an accident the whole time. Last month a Tesla ran into me. A minor fender bender, but you'd think any Tesla would have prevented that. I'm no fan.
I just did this the other day for a drop off. I had to push it a little to make the early exit left which it looks like you couldn't have made even if you wanted to.
Just got 12.5.1.5 and had it almost go through three different red lights. How can that be? Everything else was perfect but it has a problem with red lights on streets with around 45 MPH maybe I’ll recalibrate my cameras.
Your dad has some great points about range and charging stations. Listen to his wisdom! I don't own a tesla yet because of range anxiety. Obviously day to day driving no biggie. But there are millions of people that don't want to have to deal with charging mid trip on the longer trips so they just buy an IC vehicle instead. This is me in a nutshell.
What do you define as a "longer trip"? Because my longer trips are typically 650+ miles. Most passenger cars can't make that without a stop. And news flash, I wouldn't want to make that drive (10-12 hours depending on traffic and construction) without a stop or five anyway. I stop a few times, stretch my legs (aka go to the bathroom because DAYUM), get something to eat, and by the time I get back to my car it's charged and ready to go. Other than that, I charge at home, overnight, and never have to worry about gassing up. Ever. I guess I am trying to say it sounds like you are making an argument to be less convenient *most of the year* so that the few times a year you drive a 'longer trip' then you can drive by cars that stopped at a charger for 10-20 minutes. I guess if that argument is enough for you, then hey, congrats.
Charging an electric car mid trip vs gassing up your IC car mid trip are too totally different things. Sure, if you want to take 45 minutes for a rest stop. I (and most people) rarely want to take much more time that it takes to fill up my tank (say 10-15 min). Especially considering the shady destinations in the middle of nowhere that you're charging at. If they had say an 800 mile range, problem solved for 90% of trips. Clearly, if you're driving 1,200 miles, you're going to want to take a longer stop. There's also the problem when you're going longer distances to visit family. Family rarely has charger at their home so you then have to go out of your way to find a charger when you get there. Super inconvenient. Longer range would solve soooo many of these problems. Don't get me wrong, i'm a super Tesla bull. I just wish Tesla would tap into the millions of additional customers out there (like myself) by just adding a few hundred more miles to their range. This obviously comes at a cost with current battery😊 technology right now which is probably why they are not doing it.
It would still be way less expensive to drive your Tesla in town and short trips during your daily life. My only expense is windshield wipers and tires…. Plus we safe an absolute ton on gas and government gas taxes. It maybe costs about $3.00 to fill your car battery at home. You could always rent an ICE car for you occasional long trips. Financially you probably would be way ahead in the cost of transportation costs.
Yeah. I would definitely agree it would be cheaper to own an EV. Especially if I used it solely as an every day driver. Having to rent a car everytime a wanted to do a 500 mile road trip could work financially on paper. I just don't know if I could get myself to pay for the rental car or go through the inconvenience of doing all the paper work. It's a weird psychological dilemma. I just truly believe if Teslas had 700 - 800 miles of range, it would solve so many problems for people like me. Many of which (as noted) being psychological.
@JohnCline Better to have it when you don't need it than, not to have it when you need it. It's a economic decision that you need to math it out. If the cost of hauling extra weight is negligible, then why not have the peace of mind from range anxiety? It's a failsafe like spare tire or spare can of petrol. 🤷♂️
@@yesno9592 i think you missed his point. "cost of hauling extra weight is negligible", that's clearly a false statement. and the extra weight actually means you need more energy to move it, laws of physics tell you that. and then, how about the sheer cost of the larger battery? there's a major carbon footprint just to mine the lithium as well. so what @JohnCline is probably saying is, "if you're using it as a city car (as a large % of ppl do), then why would those ppl obsess about it and buy more battery/car than they need?" it's wasteful, and hurts the whole idea of so-called "clean energy"
Fsd just seems like it can do every day driving either as good as a human or better now I do agree with your father on the charging stations I live in a rural area in Florida near Jacksonville even the closest gas station is over 6+ miles away but charging stations is very limited & probably closest 1 is probably like over 10+ miles away & again in Jacksonville area probably no more then 100 charging stations or less. Now I don’t believe Tesla should be the only 1 solving this i believe like ford/gm/rivian needs to do their part in this & build way more charging stations cause some times in life we may not be able to charge at home all the time & for me at least once a month I do a 340 mile round trip from Jacksonville to Tampa & would need to stop and charge right now my gas powered Tucson I can do it on a full tank of gas can get about 400-430miles out of a full tank
Looks like you guys are enjoying father-son quality time together !

Lol your standards must be low. American drivers are sh!t and rage all the time. European drivers are the best behaved along with japanese.
Excellent! I still have a lot of distrust in the system to remove the steering wheel ? The lawyer's will line up? your dad is great !
Love to hear the commentary from your Dad. You guys are two peas in a pod 😃
i love the way your dad says "crazy"...
And "Correct"
“Oh my god the car behind us! …..It doesn’t give a shit” hahahhahahahahahahah
congrats on the house!! thats the star!!
I can see FSD becoming as common as air-conditioning in vehicles. Remembering when air-conditioning in vehicles were only for the top tier models.
Yes. And electric windows and central locking.
Both of u are living in crazy land! FSD defeats the purpose of getting places quickly. Most people have schedules to keep and don’t want to devote an additional 20-30% drive time for EVERYWHERE they go.
Thanks Omar! Keep them coming.
Love the up and back on ultra sonic cameras 😂
This was a high quality test.,. amazing.. want that car.
Next update is Tesla's attitude adjustment V1, hopefully this guy opts in
Bro..have some respect for your dad
I noticed that too actually, maybe he is having a bad day
I was going to say the same thing. His dad reacts like its the norm from him.
I don’t think he is disrespecting his dad , Can be just exhausted , that is all , but I see why you think so
He doesn’t have any respect for himself. Still selling for the fascist that is trying to elect an orange idiot dictator.
So happy I'm not the only one. I picked up on several instances and it's like if you didn't really want him in the video, why make one with him?
It literally feels like a high definition ultra realistic video game
I like my freedom to choose and be my own person thank you
Thank you Omar. Thank you Omar. Thank you Omar.
You should clip from 14:35 to 15:15 then upload to X as well as RUclips as it was amazing as your dad say it like a stunt driver that is just excellent.
You’re fan is always so high
Latest issue I am having twice now same spot is it is supposed to turn left and it puts on the right signal like it is going onto the on ramp for the highway which is the opposite direction. Store 500 feet from me shows on map it needs to turn left and yet tries to get on highway.
Dad said, “this car is polite” 😂😂
There is a company who is working on a car with 100miles of range for those who want it. It's called aptera and they did a lot of work and change to make a car with that many miles and on a small battery too.
Waymo has been around longer, I will go with them!
U make very slick/cheeky comments to ur father
That's great I did the same thing in my 2024 model X hardware 4 long range and it was great I can't wait for the day you fly in to LAX and you summon your car from home an it pics you up all by itself #myowenrobo taxi 🚖 😂
In 10 years this will be the norm.
I swear all they need now is a cool 'Jarvis' type voice for FSD to make it 1000% cooler
37:17 good point. cost efficiency is better than extend the battery ranges. There is no need for 500miles +.
I’d rather have a 500+ mile battery, but that fits my personal lifestyle. Would be nice to have multiple options in the future.
Question: as a non-tesla owner, I am very impressed! Did Tesla change you needing your hands on the steering wheel?
Awesome bro.... Thanks for making this vid and testing
Must say I am impressed on how good the fsd system works in LA. When it does it so good I think isn’t bad that all the people in Europe don’t get some of the features. Like Norway is a much easier place to drive than LA
I feel like in these situations FSD in all cars would reduce road rage, everyone knows that no one is driving, it’s just the computers lol
hey Omar, has anyone proposed that cars display a little green light (or something) on the back somewhere when FSD is engaged? thoughts.
Good to know the automatic windshield wipers work
Home charging which easily greater than 50% of people have makes the necessity of public EV charging not as important as Gas stations.
I want them to integrate Grok so you can change driving styles from assertive to chill as a function call with natural language
No sun visor for you Dad!!! 😂
I was wondering why - the visuals for the camera?
Love the FSD but i feel the lane changes are a bit risky. You just need a Crazy driver to flip out on you.
15:07 seemed pretty dangerous damn lol
So close to FSD UnSupervised that is what I am really looking for. Let me be having a nap to and from the airport
I wish my dad actually talked to me lol
Why dont he ? I hope everything is good regardless?
Im going to touch you oil up
leaving the airport on its own was enough to sell me lol
Texas Cortex not switched on yet 🤯
going to RPV? must be nice, rich tech bro?
I just received v12.1.5 😂😅 with AI3. I am ahead of you for a change
Ditto, I water a long time for this update.
this is insane
@14:40 Wow, yes, but not surprising! And to think, this is just the beginning.
I thought it was a bit close... wouldn't have felt comfortable...
Gated community, lol. Rich people.
When I had the free month of FSD, I still had to touch the wheel now and then.
How are you getting away without?
Just got 12.5.1.5 and had it almost go through three different red lights. How can that be? Everything else was perfect but it has a problem with red lights on streets with around 45 MPH maybe I’ll recalibrate my cameras.
It was on assertive mode. I changed to average and the red light issues went away.
Is this in chill, average, or aggressive mode?
How often do people need 500 miles of range? That just means you'd be hauling around a bunch of pointless battery weight.
@JohnCline
Better to have it when you don't need it than, not to have it when you need it.
Don’t argue with your Dad 😂 his opinion is Well Respected
This is far a head competition
Why can’t the father let the sun visor down?
What model Tesla is this one?
@8:40 the dad is right. Should’ve had both. Why remove it.
I see you never got a warning to put your hands on the steering wheel
meanwhile im still stuck on 12.3.6 and havent been offered the update yet :(
