TL/DW: guy visited service basically every month. Interior squeaks and rattles, exterior panels go off, stuff is loose and misaligned here and there. One of the best Toyota ads I've seen so far.
A $100,000 vehicle that's "been in service pretty much every month" since it was bought? Still, it comes with floor mats. Wait - even at $100K he needs to buy 3rd-party floor mats? I can't wait to see how that single windshield wiper copes with snow load in winter.
And this guy probably doesn't know that much about cars, but windshield wipers are supposed to strip at the point that they connect to the motor when there's too much torque, so that the motor doesn't get destroyed. This usually doesn't happen unless the wiper blade is stuck in ice or heavy snow. If it failed already under just normal conditions, that's a huge design flaw.
I recently got a used Chevy Bolt for ~$20k and it didn't come with rubber floormats, so I invested $89 on custom ones (off Amazon), which are great. Even a regular non-fitted set is about $40 at WalMart, so I figured get the ones that actually cover the floor. Now I just have to figure out how to spend the remaining $79,011 I didn't spend on a Cybertruck.
A little bit of issues!? I would go crazy with those defects after spending $100 grand on a car. It looks fun to drive. I watched the entire video and enjoyed it. Thanks for posting.
Go buy a Porsche 911, Ferrari, Lambo, even a performance BMW or Mercedes, it's required that they come in for regular service that you cannot blow off like you could most common cars. Those maintenance intervals are mandatory for high end cars. Teslas are high performance by require extremely little service over their lifetime in comparison
Guess what you could spend a million dollars on a McLaren and you’ll still constantly have to bring it in for service. The more complex things are, the higher the chance for things to go wrong.
Yes this rustbox is plain dangerous. You're not the one who complained about panels coming off while driving. And you KEPT DRIVING while seeing huge piece of metal clearly ready to come off and kill someone behind you. Oh that sweet views, your subscribers would love to see that.
Sounds like that warranty is costing Tesla a fortune as it is but I agree. With a concept car like this the issues are going to keep happening and the lack of a warranty is going to kill the resale value.
I have have had my CT for 4 months and knock on wood have had zero problems. Nothing. And it is just so much fun to drive. it never gets old driving it. If you own one then you know what i mean.
I had my cybertruck since June. Only had one service for recall of trimming detach and windshield wiper motor, but whatever I had initially gave me no issues.
HOW CAN DRIVING BE FUN? DOES THE CYBER TRUCK SOMEHOW REMOVE ALL THE IDIOTS AND DANGEROUS DRIVERS BEFORE YOU GET TO THEM? Only noticed caps after writing
The Foundation series should be 20 K cheaper, after all, the people who buy it are the test drivers for the product. After the bugs and issues are worked out, then the price should go up!
@@Chamieiniibet Well lets see then: - Warranty issues include, fit and finish, like every other vehicle ever made in it's initial production run, all of which is fixed now. - Service issues regarding delays and difficulty getting repairs or replacements, which again, is the same for any new model as it begins its life cycle. - Camera delay issues - BAM! OTA update and fixed. But lets be real about what's really going on here. Gas heads, who are programmed by big oil propaganda to stop electric vehicles from existing, which they've botched terribly, not that they had any chance anyway, considering EVs are a disruptive technology, but that doesn't change the fact that guys like you can't get their heads out of their asses enough to see the technological development going on around them. You're literally the people who, when the automobile was invented, sat on their front porches, rocking back and forth in their rocking chairs, polishing their rifles, laughing at the 'new fangled contraption' stating "those dagnabit, auto-whats-its will NEVER last. There's nothing wrong with a perfectly good horse." Are you REALLY going to sit there and defend oil companies that have systematically destroyed the environment around you, and allow gas cars to continue to spew toxic fumes out the back of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF CARS into the air YOUR CHILDREN breathe? I hope you apologize to them when they're older for contributing to their early death. I was a licensed mechanic for YEARS. I did thousands of E-tests and diagnostics. What am I testing for? Co2 and NOX. I'm not testing to see if there's any deadly gases coming out AT ALL, I'm testing to make sure THE SPEC AMOUNT IS COMING OUT. Go ahead, put your mouth on the exhaust tip of your F-350 diesel for 60 seconds. I'll wait in the driveway with my electric car that has NO EXHAUST AT ALL so I can take you to the hospital. Now multiply that exhaust by hundreds of millions of them, and you start to realize just how bad the problem is. But hey, at least you can stand around a Charger Hellcat, holding a beer with AC/DC cranking out Shoot to Thrill on the radio as you and two other monkeys grunt when someone revs the engine so you can say "Yeah man, sounds so cool. You're a stud because your car makes a noise." Gas cars and trucks are going away. So is individual ownership of vehicles. And thank god for that. No more country bumpkins and metro druggies killing themselves and others because they thought they were invincible behind the wheel of that car while they were hammered, stoned, or worse. No more insurance, car payments, fuel costs, parking fees, repairs, maintenance. No more parking lots, more green parks. No more air pollution as all systems requiring a motor go electric as battery tech evolves. It gets better literally every day. There is no need for gas in the future, and it never should have existed in the first place. Electric vehicles were starting at the same time gas cars were. It was Henry Ford who chose gasoline when he created the assembly line, and that put the nail in the coffin of electric vehicles. The world, including geopolitics and foreign policy would look drastically different today had not used fossil fuels. There's a bigger picture surrounding the disruption of fossil fuels. I suggest you look into it, because it's in fact, your future, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.
It’s $20k more expensive because the true Tesla fanboys will pay anything. Looks like all of those people with $100,000 available have now bought their Cybertruck so the price will have to fall before the end of the year otherwise Tesla are going to be growing stock. Whoever knew that such an odd vehicle would cater for a tiny niche market and didn’t fall for the hype over the 2 million refundable $100 deposits?
@@coryturke7336 I think you suspect I am right. Tesla will sell a fair few of these of course but isn’t going to compete with the main brands because it’s a niche vehicle with a lot of issues.
Wow, so many issues. I've had my Silverado EV for 5 months and tow with it weekly. And I have had zero issues even being a "first generation" vehicle and I can drive more than 300 miles on a charge. No way I would put up with a new vehicle just falling apart. Crazy.
@@chrisguevaraearly adopter? Tesla have been building EV cars for decades. These quality issues shouldn’t be excused. Other EV trucks don’t have these quality issues.
@@Turbo_Todd I've had zero issues in the 10k miles I've driven mine. My only issue is with the Google interface. Stupidest thing I have ever tried to use. No start/stop button is infuriating in a work truck and the screens glitch all the time. Plus it has pop ups that you can't always disable just like using Google on a computer. Otherwise the truck is awesome and the range is amazing.
I got mine a month ago and I have not seen any of the build issues that you had, so I can confidently say (at least in my case) it seems they have figured out the build and alignment issues. Even my interior has no rattles at all even with the radio on nearly all the way up to max. When I first took delivery, the passenger door had a tiny rattle at VERY high bass, but it was just the rubber seal around the door opening that had 1cm that curled under itself, once I slid my finger under it and uncurled it, no more rattle.
When I got my invitation to configure, I jumped up and down with joy and immediately place my order all within less than 10 minutes! I'm an old lady, never know when the grim reaper may knock on my door so for me any waiting for the right price is out of question. BTW, not a single problem so far and if something comes up I'll drive to the service center with the same smile I have when I look at my CyberTruck.
This is truly a scary situation. Everything is finding dandy because the vehicle still under warranty, but what’s gonna happen when the warranty runs out.

They will be screaming about how the feds have targeted them for their inability to fall in line. But the reality is America isn't responsible for everyone that buys a pile of scrap, digs a hole, gets scammed and is left holding sand.
these people don't keep these cars after warranty so it's not a problem for them. It's those in the used market that will have to deal with all these crappy EVs down the line.
When other companies come out with a new build, there might be some minor issues, but it won't literally fall apart out from under you. Tesla just seems to give zero Fs about quality control. I dunno, maybe Elon fired that whole department on X one day? Tesla has been needled about poor build quality from the outset, but the excuse was always that they were a new company and still learning. They've been building cars for about 20 years now. That's no longer an excuse. It just shows how little Tesla cares about quality. It's great that their service centers are so helpful, but with that many failures, every single one of those CTs would have qualified as a lemon under federal law. They should literally just print IDGAF across the dash to remind you, as you're driving down the road, that Tesla didn't really care about building your truck properly. I like Tesla. I've been lusting after a MX for about a decade, but they're just too expensive. After watching multiple reviews, the CT just seems like a giant face-palm for Tesla. Yes, it's cool and the tech is awesome...but it's also just...junk. It's not a first model/new build thing, it's a Tesla culture issue. Until they fix that, nothing will change. I'm just surprised people continue to spend 6 digits on crap like this. Boggles the mind.
It is so crazy here that these people make all these excuses about spending all this money, and you're okay with getting a vehicle flooded with issues. SMH, and then you wonder why you're paying for crap because you're indicating to these billionaire companies, it is okay to treat you like crap.
It's so sad to see Tesla customers say that it's to be expected that your new car has been in the shop seven times in as many months. You deserve better, leave that man.
7 service issues for 6 months is a lot, especially for something that’s considered “forward thinking” ! I enjoyed the interview of cybertruck owners. Interesting feedback.
I’ve owned 3 new cars in my lifetime and 2 used ones and none of them had as many issues as his cybertruck. If I paid $100,000 for a truck and had issues like he had I wouldn’t be forgiving, but I guess Tesla owners are willing to put up with quality problems to have the latest tech.
@@Molishious Yep about 4K accelerator covers got a rivet. Lose bolts and glue problems on an never done before body type. Font too small by a pixel or two. Rear view camera also OTA. The only real issue is with the wiper motor driver gate. While I expect they are replacing the entire assembly the problem comes down to a $2 part of a 1 cent resistor.
You are way too nice about all the issues you have had to deal with, let alone the negligent design. I was promised a 400 mile range and Tesla did not even come close. How is it possible to not have a digital rear view mirror or a camera covering the truck bed? I’ll be waiting for Cybertruck II.

I test drove the CT on Friday. The truck I was driving was nice. Only issue I had was the steering wheel sounded like something you would hear from an old gokart.
I want one now but with all the issues it’s not worth it. I live right next to a service center and I see lots of cybertrucks in their repair lot constantly. It freaks me out. I’d rather just wait a year and get a truck that’s more refined. Plus no FSD is a no go for me.
@@edwardlinne2156Teslas are actually louder inside than most ICE vehicles in the same price range. The Cybertruck is louder than the Ram HD diesel cruising at highway speeds. That is sad.
Problems of new model with everything new, technology, design, materials and architecture is not specific to Cybertruck or Tesla. Avoiding the first year of new model with everything new has been prudent idea. By the time 50k units are out, they would make it right... and hopefully cheaper.
Hey! You filmed this at the EV Fest in Irvine. I recognize the dodge coin CT and the sharp tooth CT. Cool video. Sorry about the issues you've had. Still a brilliant truck.

I ordered one in April this year and they sent me notice to configure and build my truck in August. When I pre ordered it there were supposedly 3.9 million preorders (3rd party source) ahead of me and predicted to be September 2027 before id get mine. I wasnt ready at the time so I had to cancel. Looks many others did the same. Thanks much for your posted experience. Hopefully I can get mine soon. As long as they respectfully cover their warranty I dont worry about issues. You should expect that with the Foundation Series. CyberBeast or bust!
Hey Chris, you mentioned that you had the windshield replace because of distortion? I believe mine is distorted in the lower passenger corner, so it makes it hard to clearly seen traffic at an angle. Did you just submit a request for service or go in and ask the service center first?
I've had mine almost 5 months. Only 2 issues were (1) the bed rail (sail) panel coming loose. Fixed, but i would like a better bolt down version. (2) The other was alignment of the frunk and window trim. All fixed in a one day service call. Love the truck, and i use it like a truck, towing heavy loads & offroad. Big complaint: not having Homelink for garages and gates and the plastic bumpers.
Ty Chris! Excellent video. I would luv to have Drive By Wire, air suspension, additional inside space, fold-up rear seat, rear screen UI, truck bed with electric cover, electric frunk, front camera w/wiper, outlets, and home backup; I could not bring myself to pay $100K vs. $50K for the Model Y and a trailer. I expected Tesla to have a few issues to resolve and improvements to deliver over the next 3 to 5 years. After almost a year of driving the Model Y, "No other EV comes close to the quality, features, or pricing of the MYLR." I spent a year reviewing and driving other options. Overpriced, under-engineered beta releases from Tesla's competition.
You're right. With 2 million reservations , I thought it would take years to get your CT order fulfilled. Now you can skip the line and get one in a few months, lol!
I mean, it makes a lot of sense to try to squeeze as many people who are willing to pay a premium for Foundation (myself included). Once the Foundation series is over and the price drops to $80k (or less in the future?), I suspect the wait time will increase a lot.
not even “a few months” … another guy said “end of sept order… delivery in 2w” … a w ago… looks like a “massive commercial success” … have to say… kudos to the die hards who wanna pay more for a heap more trouble… gotta love that attitude… 🤦♂️🤦♂️
I'm sorry, but that PRINDL panel seems to fall down and dangle so often. there's just so much tacky and cheap, why wouldn't people be embarrassed? I don't get it. I live below the poverty line so a Cybertruck was never gonna be in the cards, but for that money you could get like 2 very solid 2005-era Volvos that will actually take good care of you. I don't know how not to judge someone who buys one, as someone who doesn't understand the value of money.
I guess I've been lucky. I haven't had any problems but I don't abuse it and only have $2,800 miles on it at 5 months. The rear-view camera sucks and is even worse at night. I absolutely love it and I'm glad I bought it. I drove my Mercedes SUV only once a week after I bought it. I kept the Mercedes in case there were any problems with the cybertruck but I guess I will sell my Mercedes because I don't have the desire to drive it anymore.
Sadly, I cancelled my order. Too many reported problems. Will wait another year then try again. Hopefully all the major issues will be addressed by then.
We have ours for about a month - only 1200 miles so far and no issues and no service visits. The major thing I wish the truck had is a pass through to the truck bed. I realize that the rolling tonneau cover would have to be redesigned and some sort of mechanical failsafe lockout mechanism would have to be in place on the tracks to prevent the thing from rolling open or shut when you had that pass thru open. I want my dogs to be in the truck bed but able to come into the backseat area as needed. Same goes for hauling longer items. Twice now I had to have long pieces stick out of the tonneau cover. That cover does great because I roll it down far enough to "pinch" the long items stick out over the tailgate enough so where they can't shift around during hard corners, etc. Love it - it is badass and intimidating and that exactly the look I'm going for.
Were you able to discover which factory it was built at? Considering most of your issues were build related, I'm curious to know if it's directly related to factory practices.
Chris, I ordered one 3 years ago now. How was it Towing that trailer without full-size towing mirrors? I really need the 500 mile range (~200-250 mi when towing) because I use my truck to tow my RV and boat. So I am currently waiting because I expect the range to improve substantially over the next year. Cheers, Eric
Since you have tried all the passenger models, are any of the headrests comfortable? I have 23Y, i am 5'11" and my wife is 5'2" and we both find them uncomfortable.
@EverydayChris I bought a nice looking pillow but it unfortunately is still uncomfortable. I'll check which one you are recommending. Maybe it will be better.
@@EverydayChris 6'2" here. The headrest pillow made all the difference in my model y. I can say with the pillow, it is 100% the most comfortable headrest i've ever had. I'm sorry but it's a truck. If it gets scratched, it's scratched. It's a truck. Also all trucks have beds to place product in, as well as having rear seats that fold. It's common.

For the truck to take so long to finally hit the market and then come out with so many problems for such a high price seems like a failure in the design. Is this really the best vehicle Tesla could have made? Does this car help Tesla continue to follow its vision statement? The most impressive thing about the cybertruck for me is that people can spend $100,000 to $120,000 on a truck that doesn’t do what was promised and doesn’t have all the features people paid for when they bought it and yet owners are on uniformly irate. No other car company would have that kind of loyalty from their customer base.
I'd never get one and this is coming from someone who has a Tesla MYLR. Why wouldn't I get one? For a reason you didn't mention: range. Simply put, the putrid range makes this a no-go for me, especially since the Silverado just came out with 450+ miles of range. For $100K, this needed at least a 175kW battery, if not 205kW, like the Silverado has. I think 175kW would be perfect, which would probably give it 410 miles of range and make it lighter (the Silverado weighs 8800 lbs, which is super heavy). The range is simply unacceptable for a $100K car.
The silverado is a more expensive truck to build. GM is eating the difference to attract buyers. The extra weight from the extra battery has an impact on the truck handling, load, and tow. Not saying your making the wrong choice. Each according to his needs.
Tesla is going to face a demand issue for the Cybertruck in 6-12 months. They will need to offer the $61k RWD version to keep the Austin assembly lines humming.
New product, new problems, old story. I think they will sort the issues out in time. The factory is probably the most advanced in the industry and their attention to fixing problems on the line is I suggest, second to none.

I would like to add one extra caveat anyone who wants a Tesla cybertruck wait an extra 18 months to 2 years you will find the foundation series for $50k to $60k all day. Once the hype around this vehicle dies down. They will drop the price of the vehicle by 20 to $30,000 and you will find it for half the price.
Chris, i but you have a low VIN? Dont slam the rest of us CT owners because you got an early VIN. What you are putting out applies to your truck but not to most of us that got a latter VIN.

Model 3 gen 1 to gen 2 had major improvements overall. The same will be done with the Second Generation Cybertruck. Tesla is focused on production efficiency; prices will come down and CT will be as common as a F-150.

Only 50k mile warranty, that's scummy, I had a 6 year everything warranty with my Toyota Hilux.
Battery and drive train is 8 year 150k mi warranty. The rest are more cosmetic items that if have issues should crop up fairly early in ownership.
Sounds like that warranty is costing Tesla a fortune as it is but I agree. With a concept car like this the issues are going to keep happening and the lack of a warranty is going to kill the resale value.
@@JasonRosensweig But these guys don't know anything, they just like to comment 🙄 😑
Only 50k miles? You don’t have enough time to ask Tesla to fix everything ! It was broken faster than they can fix 😂
I have have had my CT for 4 months and knock on wood have had zero problems. Nothing. And it is just so much fun to drive. it never gets old driving it. If you own one then you know what i mean.
Nice! Yes driving the cybertruck is so much fun
It's 20k more expensive because of the 20k worth of warranty repairs included in the price, lol
@@Chamieiniibet
Well lets see then:
- Warranty issues include, fit and finish, like every other vehicle ever made in it's initial production run, all of which is fixed now.
There's nothing wrong with a perfectly good horse."
Are you REALLY going to sit there and defend oil companies that have systematically destroyed the environment around you, and allow gas cars to continue to spew toxic fumes out the back of HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF CARS into the air YOUR CHILDREN breathe?
You're a stud because your car makes a noise."
Gas cars and trucks are going away.
@@robsengahay5614 this isn't going to age well 🙄
@@coryturke7336 I think you suspect I am right.
Crazy.
This thing is not consumer ready. It's really for early adopters. Most people won't put up with this kind of quality for 100k

You are really a saint to Tesla as a customer paying more than 120k on a toy produced in this level of quality. 😮
Mines made it to 12,000 miles 😂 they talk about that like it’s a lot
I got mine a month ago and I have not seen any of the build issues that you had, so I can confidently say (at least in my case) it seems they have figured out the build and alignment issues.
Even my interior has no rattles at all even with the radio on nearly all the way up to max. When I first took delivery, the passenger door had a tiny rattle at VERY high bass, but it was just the rubber seal around the door opening that had 1cm that curled under itself, once I slid my finger under it and uncurled it, no more rattle.
it always amazes me how much kool-aid cybertruck owners drink
When I got my invitation to configure, I jumped up and down with joy and immediately place my order all within less than 10 minutes! No way I was going to wait, it's been 3 months since I drove home with it which means my brand new MX hasn't seen the road ever since. I'm an old lady, never know when the grim reaper may knock on my door so for me any waiting for the right price is out of question. BTW, not a single problem so far and if something comes up I'll drive to the service center with the same smile I have when I look at my CyberTruck.

@@moneypro85 Yeah, was that a dictation error? 😂
these people don't keep these cars after warranty so it's not a problem for them.
The depreciation is a killer. I have a 2023 Tesla model S plaid I bought for $99,000 Tesla offered to give me $64,000 trade in 10 months later, ouch.

7 service issues for 6 months is a lot, especially for something that’s considered “forward thinking” ! I enjoyed the interview of cybertruck owners. Interesting feedback.
beats my tundra engine that failed at 18k miles and the best part the loaner they gave me that had 12k miles coded as well looked to be the same issue

The rattles in my Tesla’s interior drive me crazy. None of my other much older much higher mileage vehicles rattle.
Also electric cars are quieter so you hear more rattles but Tesla probably has more than they should though. Getting better all the time.

Problems of new model with everything new, technology, design, materials and architecture is not specific to Cybertruck or Tesla. Avoiding the first year of new model with everything new has been prudent idea. By the time 50k units are out, they would make it right... and hopefully cheaper.

Hey Chris, you mentioned that you had the windshield replace because of distortion? I believe mine is distorted in the lower passenger corner, so it makes it hard to clearly seen traffic at an angle. Did you just submit a request for service or go in and ask the service center first?
Yeah just take it to the service center and show them
I've had mine almost 5 months. Only 2 issues were (1) the bed rail (sail) panel coming loose. Fixed, but i would like a better bolt down version. Ty Chris! Excellent video.

What do you do for work? Crazy this many issues
OMG I WAS WAITING FOR THE DENNIS AND CHRIS COLLAB
Considering most of your issues were build related, I'm curious to know if it's directly related to factory practices.
all are made in Austin!
You have definitely done a lot if work keeping it fixed - guess others will benefit as they improve the product line.

Legendary Tesla Quality! and it only costs twice as much as Elon said🤦
For the truck to take so long to finally hit the market and then come out with so many problems for such a high price seems like a failure in the design.
Love the owner that is wearing the Rivian shirt.
Do any of the other truck EVs that are coming out excite you ? Would you consider any of the others over the cybertruck
