You have to lift the ledger to stop the flow BEFORE you remove the plug from the powerpoint. By doing that you will no longer have water spilling from the quick connector.
No you have to remove plug"switch off power supply to motor head first" then lift grey lever up to isolate water to filter then remove quick red pipe connector from filter head.
up until today when watching this video I have always squeezed the canister between my thighs and pulled the motor out of the canister. now I finally know how easy it is to separate these two components on the table
Hi I bought the Fluval 7 series from your recommendation. For the first time doing maintenance on it, I had the same problem with water squirting out but releasing the tubes. I read the manual for my second maintenance, and it says to close the Aquastop (gray lever) BEFORE turning the canister off. It makes a vacuum in the tube and stops a lot of the water from squirting out. Thanks again!
Just found this video. Great stuff. I just got 207. Really impressed. Much better than the other in tank ones I have. Great tip leave it full of water and rinse stuff. Thanks 👍👍
I been having fluval filters from 206 all the way to 407. But once I got Oase biomaster 600 I will never go back. So easy to clean pre filter. You can individually swing your hoses where you want and you can put the heater in the canister filter. Fluval must step up the game with everything.
Little trick I figured out to not have it spill... first shut the valve, then turn off power and wait a couple of minutes (literally a min or two) and then go ahead and remove. less spillage that way. Cheers!
i loved your vide, i do have a little trouble whit water spilling but my main questions is, werer did you get those houses, those are not the original ones, i need to change them because the original ones, generate a lot of grime and it is really a problem
Get any 16/22mm tubing. I go with Chihiros because its softer: amzn.to/31OMIk3 But you can use whatever 16/22 mm tubing. Even the ones you have for the python or aqueon water changer works
So I am trying to decide on 307 or 407 for my new 75g tank. The 307 would give me 4x the rate and the 407 would give me 5x the rate like you suggested, I was torn because for my set up I am reading that many of the fish and shrimp don't care for too much flow. I have co2 injected fully planted set up in mind similar to the one in this video. I like the idea of using the 407 if I can adjust flow rate down to something suitable for my inhabitants because there is 5 trays and more surface area. I also read that spray bars can help in this situation as well? I am torn here.
Did u change the inlet and outlet part? Because I am using the original one but the inlet part is too long for my tank? Any suggestions on how to solve it? Thanks
Ok, so releasing the hoses from the canister without spilling goes a lot smoother on my Eheim Professional 4's. However those do not have a pre-filter.
Yea, and a lot smoother on my Oase too. No issues. This guy named Enzo on FB mentioned to shut off valve then turn power off to mitigate the issue, so will try that next.
I had been using a 307 for about 7 months now.. I found that that red bracket with the blue sponge pre filter is taking up too much space. I rather have more space for the bio media. Now that I'm using a sponge as a pre filter at the in take strainer, the blue sponge is now useless only taking up space.. this 307 is also not as effective as to polish the water as now I'm using another internal filter with polyfill to do the job.. the current space for the bio media is not quite enough as its install in a 65G tank.. I had to find other ways to put in more bio media.. Overall.. 307 is just a little too small for the stated up to 65G tank.. The flow of 1100L/ h is quite alright just it will be perfect if the pre filter area in the cannister can be modified to be use for more bio media.. Thanks.. Like to hear what others think about it!!
Man another great video! Got me thinking about this one instead of the bio master 250 🤔 oh and that scape is looking amazing! Great job man! Keep up the quality content! 👍🏻

I’m currently utilizing 2 AquaTech overhead filters for my 100gal tank, after a month or 2 I’m getting a dark colored film possible charcoal/algae on my aquarium glass. Will this filter prevent this from happening?
You really don’t need the charcoal filter. If you do regular water changes. Just remove it. If your gonna use it though, be sure to rinse the charcoal media well to get all the dust off before placing it in your filter system. For now, clean your tank and then began that process to clean and rinse your media filters.
Oh that’s totally depending on how you stock your tank, plant mass, type of filter. So I’ll just give you my routine. On my 143L, I do 30-40% wc weekly, I clean substrate, remove dying plants, clean the glass. I use a Fluval 307 for that tank and I clean it once every 2-3 months. Also if your filter is dirty, you will notice a drop in flowrate too.
To stop the water squirting out the top whenever you lift the red lever and take the pipes out, you have to pull up the grey lever while the pump is still running, then turn the pump off and lift the red lever.

Don't do reviews if you don't even bother to read the manual. You're passing along false information otherwise.

Best bang for the buck filter imo. And yes, just wash it in the filter, you gotta wash it with tank water anyways. 😁😁😁
What a fantastic video. Your explanation is brilliant. Thanks 🎉
Yours has the clear lines compared to the ribbed ones that it comes with ,that’s means more flow .Great review
Hah! Was just looking for a 307 review. Glad I stumbled on yours! -Bubbathepuffer
Haha, sup dude!
It couldn't be any easier. Love your Rummy Nose Tetras! Thanks.

I wish I knew about using the latches to take the top off when I cleaned my 307 a couple weeks ago. Everything is all good though. Much obliged.

Great video! Really informative! If you had to choose, would you go with the Fluval or Oase?
Pre-filter sponge is a must, as it keeps mostt of the gunk from entering the filter!
Great looking tank
And of course my Asian brother loves rummy nose tetras. They're one of the main reasons I got into this hobby.
very nice review

Personally love this filter too
Great video. Wondering what you use for heater? I'm trying to find a good inline heater but cant find anything available.
I use an in-tank heater lol. My room is always at 75 degrees so I barely use a heater tbh
great content bro 👍🏽
Great video mate! How do you change the OEM filter pipe? Those original pipe doesn't go well with planted tank. Appreciate your reply.
Just buy the following and swap out the OEM (yea they look terrible with planted lol). Get 16/22mm for the 307.
- amzn.to/3DFDLHv
- amzn.to/3x21oav
Nice!
Hi, What host do you use to connect the filter and the outlet?
this one right here, go with the 16/22mm for the 307 and above models: amzn.to/3wUn2yD

Def the 407, and yea you can adjust the flow rate. If plants really grow in, you are going to need the extra power.
The valve at the hoses controls the water flow so you don't have to worry about flow rate, It is completely adjustible.
2-2,5x on both of them. The fx4 will give you enough flow, 6x. I have the Oase 350 on a 24 gallon tank and give me 8x.
Did u change the inlet and outlet part? Because I am using the original one but the inlet part is too long for my tank? Any suggestions on how to solve it? Thanks
you can always cut it, but for me I never use the hose that it comes with. I always go with clear hose size 16/22mm on Amazon: amzn.to/3RDrb22
Is there a way to control de water output??
Yes sir
Did you use 16/22 tubing? (or 5/8" ID and 7/8" OD)? I hate the tubing it comes with and trying to decide if I want to swap to lily pipes or something
So you left the hoses in the tank and they didn't drain the tank like siphons?
This type of filter, are recommended for mareen saltwater Aquarium?
Very good and reliable filter, But the ribbed hosing is atrocius, Gonna put vinyl tubing on mine.
Brill video 👍

@@TankTastic Too bad though those valves aren't that cheap. But yeah, sounds plausibel.
Manual clearly says to close valves and keep running for few seconds to get rid of water from head. No spilling. Biased reviews.
Great content! Would you go with a 407 or oase 600 for a 40 gallon breeder community tank low tech. Moderate to heavy stock. Thanks!
I used a 307 on my 40B and it was plenty for me. But I had a heavily planted tank.
@@TankTastic would you pick the oase over the fluval. After some research it seems the 307 or maybe oase 350 might be enough? Thanks

407 would of been better for your size. But I like Oase or the fzone ss filter if you are aiming for media capacity.
Where did u buy the hose at for your 307. Would u be able to provide a link. Greatly appreciate that.

Oase, easy maintanence is pretty important to me.

If the tank is completely empty, yea it would be. But if the tank is fully grown with plants. Its not that bad, plus the flow is adjustable.
