- When I did the original 107 video I hadn't used it yet. When I set it up I skipped over it. Now its been 8-9 months since I got this going and I have another one to install. So Im doing what I didn't do before and telling you about it and showing you how it installs.

I won the giveaway. I installed it on my 29 gallon aquarium. It's lightly planted and has around 25 black neon tetras. I never had any ammonia issues and my water was always crystal clear. In my experience it will work well up to 30 gallons. As for it being quiet, my aquarium is about 3 feet from my bed and I never really heard it.
Glad your liking it!
Perfect. That's how close mine will be to my bed too.
Hello Chris. Are you still satisfied? Is there any flow weakness? I can't choose 107 or 207 if you answer very easy to me thanks.
@@skywalker7774 Yes! It's a fantastic filter.
Congratulations
Just bought a 107 and that really makes me confident to set it up, thanks buddy
Great information and review!! Thank you so much for sharing!! I hope you have a great day 👍🌱🐟🌿🙏
Damned be the blackbeard algae !
Thanks for the review and i can see from that comments that you’r back at work. Great stuff !
LOVE the shirt!!
Love that t-shirt 👍
Really appreciate this video!
I’m looking at a 107 for my 20 long and wasn’t sure if this would work, given the depth of the tank.
I’ll go ahead and order one.
I’m not able to get water changes done every week right now so hoping this filter with added media will help me keep the tank healthy in between tank maintenance.
I'm going to buy one for my 20 gallon. Been running a Seachem filter on it (which is quite good), but figured a canister filter might bring more benefits overall. That, and, another aquarium could use that Seachem filter instead.
Thank you for this video, it helped make my mind up about this.
Awesome plants!!!
Love the t-shirt. :)
That T-Shirt is awesome!
Looking forward to see next video. Afther watching father fish. I have try this method on 2 tanks. And now afther 5months in to it. I can tell you. Probly 2 of my must stabile tanks. No problems
good stuff. cant wait to see how the new thicker substrate turns out. im having the same issues with BBA. cant get rid of it for the life of me
I'm a Father Fish fan, ocean aquarium shop fan, have deep soil and sand substrate in my tanks. I leave them alone, just observe, fish really healthy. They don't look like a pristine show tank, they look like mother nature. 😊🍀❤️
Agreed. I feel lucky that Father Fish is my LFS!
I have a 107 on my 20g axolotl tank and it does a fantastic job. It's quiet, the flow adjustment is excellent, it's small. Great filter.
Sean...your shirt!!! LMAO too funny! I have 2 Fluval tanks I haven't set up yet, Fluval F35 (15 gallon) and the F90 (34 gallons). Websites have been low lately for all planted tank related items (even got an email and a refund a couple of days ago from MyAquariumBox). Of course these Fluval tank kits come with Fluval canister filters, so this video is very helpful for me. I will not forget the gasket. I will not forget the gasket. I will not forget the gasket.
Lol also don’t forget the gasket!
If you do forget the gasket you'll know soon enough when you run water through it.
Dude you have me cracking up 🤣🤣
'STOP! That's some kind of warning that we won't read'
You'e back! Yay! And congrats for getting your job back. I was worried about you just a bit.
Like Fluval stuff! Using a 206 on a 20gal tank. I use a foam prefilter on the intake strainer, it prevents a lot of crud from getting into filter. Using Biohome too. Tank doing great.
Hi I’m new to tropical fish could you please give me a better explanation for dummies 😂
@@garrymobey912 lookup pondguru for info. He's a smart man. Good luck and happy new years.
@@IFIXCASTLES cheers buddy
Have a 207 and 307 and so far great filters.
Is 207 quiet?
Awesome video my friend God bless
The first digit in the model number is for the size (1-, 2-, 3-, 4-). The 0 doesn't matter. The last digit is for the generation (-5, -6, -7)
The 105, 106, and 107 are the same model, just with each ascending number, a newer generation.
The x06 generation is still being sold in stores, but is being phased out by the newer x07 models.
Thanks. Surprisingly it's 2 years later and we still on the 07 models but I guess now we have the FX series
"I won't go into detail"
...but actually will
xD good stuff :P
Agree they are good filters. Only thing I disable is the corrugated hose, slows flow in my opinion but can get around that easily. Sunsun I have too and they are ok, have lots of media room. The fluval trays are definitely innovative in design. I wouldn’t run a 107 on a 20 gallon personally, I’m a high flow person in planted tanks. Maybe use it on a 10. However as much as fluval cost these days I think I would go with Oase biomaster in a new set up just that being a little more I have my heater in the filter and their prefilter I find superior to other brands. Wish other canisters would copy that design.
Me too it’s good to have the heater in the canister. I thought the flow from this thing was almost too much in my 20. For these specific fish that is.
pecktec I understand that with over powering filters. Lovely that ADA created the lily pipe variations that can make flow more gentle. I run large filter in my nano tank and use the spin pipe to mitigate the powerful flow. It makes it super gentle while still having superior circulation.
Hello, how loud is your filter? I've bought 207 and the noise is c.a. 55 to 60 dB and I wonder can it be more quiter. BTW, great work
Hi Mr Pecktec. I am especially fond of your Fluval tech reviews. Do you envisage doing an update review to your hang on the back filters or do you plan to do an internal filter review on the fluval U series? In any case keep up the good work. Your fluval reviews are the bomb. Cheers.
The only two hang on back filters I have going are two aquaclear 20s. I like them.
Would this be too powerful for a 6 gallon tank? And what is the max water lift? I really want to place this on the floor. Also can you adjust the flow rate?
could you tell me if you reduce the water caudal, does the motor increase noise??
would this be any good for a 90L(Fluval Roma 90)?
Pecktec: It's a great video as always. The "hole in the wall" fish store in California with the super deep substrate is "Ocean Aquarium" in San Francisco. The owner, Justin and his wife there have a lot of useful perspective on the hobby. They are demigods to me. Truly, the ultimate filter "media" is the substrate itself. They share a point of view with "Father Fish." If you want really good, scientific information on a deep substrate I can't recommend enough the RUclips channel called "Jay's Aquarium." He appears to be a young fellow in South Korea and he really understands the matter. What I like about Jay's Aquarium is that he acknowledges the benefits of the deep substrate but also the shortcomings. Ultimately, his experiment is successful but he doesn't continue it forever. As Ben O'Chart and others note, nitrate build-up isn't the only reason we fish keepers change water. That said, the no water change / top up only Ocean Aquarium fish store in San Francisco works over the long term because the proprietor has an insane amount of plants in the tanks. The fish barely have room to swim. I myself have a very stable 65 gallon with a very deep substrate but I do still change some water periodically.
As for the filters, I love the fluval '07 series. They work well for me. Another great canister filter for a small tank in the Eheim Ecco Pro 2232. I also like that one. The Eheim 2232 and the Fluval 107 are great alternatives to a sponge filter for 10-20 gallon tanks.
Thanks for your great videos and engaging personality. - Loach from Patreon
That’s cool stuff but I was in LA.
I will check out all that stuff you takes about though. Thanks for your input.
Is hi pecteck can yiu use wine thing else besides the spray bar?thanks
What is a name of media with ar u use ?
Because u use all original foam and pots u fill up with different media .
Why would you make pieces of a spray bar different colours?
Why they wouldn't make the spray bar clear is beyond me, who wants to look at that thing in their beautiful rimless tank. Same thing with the hoses on the filter, wake up Fluval, it's 2022. Great video thanks.
Spray bar seems dumb right angle down just to have a 180 back up . Can't you turn the first 90 bend pointing up ?
Is the intake tube pretty adjustable? I was thinking about putting this on a tank only 10 inches high
Most of them you cut to the length you need if it’s a low profile.
I done the same on my Fluval 407 IN & OUT’s, but eventually got it right..
I just purchase a Fluval 207 using it in my 35/40 Gallon Very Pleased Should I use the Air Bubbles? or the Spray Bar Kit?
Would it be okay to use on a nano 5 gallon tank?
Nice shirt bro.. 😂
Wish the spray bar was more readily available. I diy’d two and they work great, but they are ugly!
lol dude at the top, next to the in and out tank hoses is a lever u can flip up and down to change the flow rate going out.
You adjust the flow with the lever on the hose connection device
Doesn't that canister filter have a lot more room for media than a hang on back rated for 30 gallons?
Would you run fluval 107 over a sicce shark adv internal filter. I bought the sicce but haven’t used it yet because I want one of these 107. I have a 14gallon
I do prefer them out of the tank. But I haven't tried that specific internal one.
Wonder how do we connect this amazing canister filter to your aquarium chiller, which is using other type of hose... anybody tested it? Care to share more info on RUclips? Thank you very much everyone!
hey pecktec do you know if the 107 and the 207 are using the same pump?
Not sure.
Is it good for a 75 gallon tank because I’m on a budget
The 07 series has a flow control the small lever up or as desired
Any idea why when I take the taps off a lot of water, and I mean a lot squirts out? Not just a drop or two I mean it literally squirts out. It’s also quite loud working. Only bought it today
Here's a tip, keep the canister filter inside a small tote that's about the size of a 10 gallon tank and put a battery powered sump pump water alarm in the tote as well. Doing this eliminates two problems, one which you experienced while opening the filter and the other simply is leaking
Bro..what kind of resonator the red one is hanging on the wall
Just asking for some advice but which canister can I use on my 10 gallon betta tank the fluval 107 or a dophin cf300
107
I want one of this for a 24 cube gallon project with invertebrates and rasboras
So this doesn't work for a 65? I got a new tank and it came with it. Ive never had a canester filter before and the water is murky as F and omg it's so freaking loud.
I have the 307 my friend wants the 107 but his tank has a lid ?
I’ve always wanted to try a canister but this one is 2-3 x’$ more than a darn good HOB. Is it worth that?
I would say the absolute best thing about it compared to a HOB is that it is quiet! No vibration. Mine is in a cabinet under my tank. I tried a HOB and we could hear it all over the main floor of the house....hated it.
ginsterh Thanks!
I have been keeping aquariums for over 35 years there is nothing a hang on back filter can do that a canister filter won’t do 10x better.
That looks a hell of a lot bigger than 15 gallons
I really want to get one of these but I have guppies and there can be alot of fry, im worried about the fry getting sucked into the nozzle that's in the tank..does this happen or isit just me thinking it does?
If you're worried about guppy fry, you can use a sponge on the intake. Aquarium Coop sells these coarse intake sponges that prevent debris from going into the filter (and fry)
Hello, I would like to know what happens to the Fluval 107 canister when the power goes out and then comes back, does it continue to work by itself?
It’s only happened a couple of times but yea it does.
@@pecktec thank you for answering so quickly.
@@pecktec How much does the canister weigh?
Did you have to fill up the canister before you plugged it in ... or does it fill up on its own
Yes you should do that.
U don't hav 2. Simply push the grey plunger up n down. This will create a siphon n fill the cannister 4 u
What is that large silver device to the right of the Fluval at 24:00?
Co2 canister.
Its 4.40 In the morning
What are those 3 Red fish .....I would start with increasing your gravel vacuum for the elevated Hair algae ...thanks for sharing
Cherry barbs. I don’t gravel vac in any of my aquariums for the most part.
I Always rinse the new Purigen pouch before I put it in .
I watched your video shortly after ordering a 307 for a 50 gallon aquarium. Do you find that your biological media stays fairly clean after removing the foams and polishing pads from the bottom tray?
can i use this for the fluval edge?
No I don’t think that would work well.
Should I get the Fluval 107 or Fluval 207 for my Fluval Flex 57L tank?
What did you end up going with? I’m having this same dilemma
Eihiem classic 150 or fluval 107?
Has any of your fish ever jumped out of your uncovered tank ?
American Flag fish are great at clearing out algae
Yeah but so aggressive. I kept them a while back.
Is this canister filter saltwater safe?
Yes
Is the 107 practically suitable for a 25 gallon tank?
Yes I would think so. It sort of depends what you put in the 25. But a normal load would be ok.
@@pecktec its a sand substrate with moderate plants , around 30 tetras and rainbows in total.
You are better off getting the 207 so it gives you a little more elbow room for the number of fish you have
How often do we have to change the filter
I rinse the filer media with clean aquarium water about every 90 days or so.
Is it good for 20 gallon aquarium?
Sure that’s what I put it on.
The 106 isn't smaller its just the previous generation of the same filter
Ahh ok makes sense.
Hi, i know what the paper says, but do you think this 103 can run a 75G tank with only an arowana and a pleco? The little guy is just too cute to pass! Thanks and regards!
Our water has so much silicon , we tested our bore well water , we use 107 fluval
God I hope I get the answer, I know this video is old, what is the name of the tank next to your 15 gallon flora!?
The little half tank? I can’t remember what it’s called but they have them at 7ports webpage or at the aquarium Knoxville if your near by.
@@pecktec Hey, thanks so much for answering! I ended up searching your videos and found the one where you made your indoor pong as you called it! I will be doing something similar!
Great video. I've often wondered whether the amount of biological media we actually need in the form of ceramic or sintered glass is way overestimated. Many people run quite large aquariums on sponge alone.
I have a lot of substrate (ADA Amazoin) and sand cap. I have the fluval 106 on it with CO2 on a 20 gal tank. Hair algae just started showing up. Something I noticed is that you have a couple bottles of Aquavitro in the cabinet, or it looked like you do. Are you using that on your tank? I switched from Tropica all in one firtz to the Aquavitro line about the same time the hair algae started... My thinking perhaps reducing iron. At the moment I have a automated doser doing exactly what the bottles recommend. Plants are doing excellent other than the hair algae.
Yeah I used them for a bit but didn’t notice much difference. I had hoped with the plants getting more nutrients the algae would subside. But nothing is really working in there.
First!
Well done
Strong flow will create more algae. LED light not very healthy for aquarium, old stile bulbs 40w way better. Thick gravel raising a temperature.
Pleckoooooooossssssss.lots of pleckosss for the algae
Pecktec you back to work? Havent seen you lately
Yeap started back a couple of weeks ago. And I had to set up a new computer so it’s slowed me down a bit.
107 or 207 for 28 gallon?
207
Algexit gets rid of algae brilliant.
I never cut the hose I shed a tear when you cut that hose I always buy an extra when I buy a fluval your better off having extra than not having enough....
3m of hose is too long to be running on each line. You would have hose hanging down and lose pressure with the distance water needs to travel.
It’s meant to be cut
@@ShaneO-nm2hh idk I was just checking I have two 207 and two 407 they work great uncut it travels but the pressure is great I just cleaned them they are great filters 🙂
that t-shirt... xD
106 is the first gen
Don’t like fluval. water isn’t polished before it hits the biological foam.
The foam section they really need to redesign
Anoxic filter is the way to keep the nitrates low. When nitrates are low, algae growth are controlled. Maybe you want to look up Kevin Novak's work
You really sent me down a rabbit hole with this one.
@@pecktec lol.[ rabbit hole] Seriously the anoxic filter has been around for more than 5 years. People with very expensive Koi had been using them, in the UK. Under very low O2 levels another group of bacteria will use the 02 in the N03(nitrates) thereby converting the nitrates into nitrogen gas. Cool huh?
check this out
ruclips.net/video/vbSv54F3xnE/видео.html
On next weeks video is for you Sunny.
@@pecktec ok looking foreward for it. BTW you can get fluval to get cracking to incorporate the anoxic tech into their filter line as well. The beauty of the anoxic thing is it last a long time. This unit is possible to be fitted into fluval's filters. The anoxic can just be a canister that can be dropped in to its special space [ that's fluval engineered] Hey this idea is worth a ton of usd lol. Fluval can also start making baked bentomite clay and laterite. How does ionic attraction appeal to you huh? lol

I was going to buy one of these but got to 12 minutes and decided against it. Too many components and looks way too complicated.
As far as effective surface area is concerned, it looks like a downgrade to me.
Not first
FIRST OF ALL PRIME YOUR PUMP FIRST, AND THEN TURN IT ON!!!!
I stack my biohome vertically in my 406. It's really not that hard if you prop the trays at an angle when you start to stack them. Be patient at the beginning, and by the 4th row the pieces are stacking themselves.
I did the same on my FX4 and 5 as well. You'll have extra room to "loose stack" on top of those trays.
Not a fan of "Alien". Just unable to watch that t-shirt. My experience with Fluval is their tubing is weird and I could not make it work. It would not fit in a standard 55g stand. It's just not made for real world uses. Probably over designed. (I did skim listen to the video) LOL
Damn. I really want this filter but that flow is just too much.
You can adjust the flow, I run mine half flow on a 20gal long.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED by this pump, I bought 2 on one of the largest online sales sites: the observation is that they are not waterproof, the seal system allows air to pass through. I am based in the north of France and no reseller of these products.
I’ve had two running for years! Did you put the gasket on?
Hello I normally have a sump system never a Fluval. I had to set up an emergency 36 gallon bow front tank does this make efficient oxygen for a saltwater tank? Thank you!!
It should but I don’t have any salty setups. So I’m not the authority on that.
