Im pretty sure it would perform just a little bit worse than the e46. There is not much different just 0.2L more and 20hp more. There wasnt that much of a technical evolution since both came out. Still i also think they shouldve put the e36 in the race too

murican E36 was shitty version anyway....only 240HP from some reason. It would be having problems with E30 i think since it is heavier and more sluggish in general.
@Caleb Songer right. The euro spec had 286-321hp and itbs, it was a great car. Also to whoever said it would have problems with the e30 is smoking crack, even the us spec ran high 13s
E46 is an absolute savage. Also one of the most iconic and underrated designs ever.

Would have loved to see the E36. Always wondered what the difference between the E36 and E46 would be.
There's a few vids floating on RUclips that will show that difference but the E36 evo 3.2 is a little quicker in a straight line than the E46 but the 3.0 E36 is definitely slower.

E92 is more timeless than E46
The E46 remains an exceptional everlasting beautiful design. And I always adored the sharp metal like exhaust sound.
E30 M3 is literally the most gorgeous car I've ever seen

jason eagles I like new ones too but when i was growing up BMW E46 was started selling and i thought it looked so cool and i wished i had one, one day. And now everytime i see one i get a little bit nostalgic for those easier childhood years. My father infected my with love for cars.
@@tznwyvuk471 yeah me too! I grew up with the E36 though. It was my dream car at a the time. I'm just not a fan of the new ones they're too big and bulky. Also I prefer old school engineering over modern technology. Theyre so much more fun to drive!

There is just 2 gearbox for E46... Manual gearbox and the wrong gearbox!
Donato xD csl had no manual, smg is semi manual but still its considered as automatic cuz of having no clutch pedal

The SMG isnt to bad as people say, i have both the manual and SMG and its pretty fun. I daily the SMG thoo to not put miles on the other one lol!
I have a 2017 F80 M3 Competition Pack. Absolutely ADORE it! The power is brutal, chassis is tight and handles amazingly well. Drove it 9.5 hours straight through to Spa Francorchamps in 2018 and it didn’t skip a beat. It’s part of the family along with my 911!
The E92 is the keeper of the bunch. That engine is magic. Sure, a turbo engine can be made quicker, but just like comparing a 911 turbo to a GT3, the N/A car is so much more satisfying

@@DKALZAIN1 actually I feel the other way around. All the models before f80 had round headlights, wich made them more timeless. The f80 with the weirdly shaped LED's and very wide grill looks cool now, but imo more of a marketing thing than a thought through design

The E46 is just the SWEETSPOT! The earlier M3’s are just not fast enough...And the later M3’s, even though they’re faster are heavier and/or provide way less raw driving feeling. All great cars, but the E46 has it all. Legend!💪💪☄️☄️❤️❤️

E36 M3 Sedan is my ultimate dream car. ESPECIALLY the Euro-Spec. 321 BHP in-line 6, perfect power, good torque, and looks by far the best to me. I am not a fan at all of the e30 and I hate the new body so the only three I love are the e92, e36, and the e46 of course.
Usur Delta I have to say that the e36 starts to grow on me more and more.👌

The most impressive is the weight of the V8 compared to the 6line in the E46. I believe, but correct me if I’m wrong, the V8 is 20 kg lighter. That’s impressive.

Early 2000s and late 90s were the golden age of cars, simple no nonsense interiors and features, with enough equipment and comfort and all the manufacturers had their own distinctive touches, Mercedes, BMW, Audi all had their own pros and cons that made them unique, and lets not talks about Japanese cars from the 90s (Supra, Skyline GT-R, S2000, EVO, WRX STi). Today it's the same digital copy paste shit from every manufacturer.

I've got the standard M3 SMG, but the CSL is a killer and he started off a fraction late.
I've done a 12.9s quarter in my E46 M3 SMG at Santa Pod, no idea what was up with that CSL !!
Guy started about a second later in the e46

I guess he didn't read the pamphlet... and I guess he kept it in auto mode, and didn't hold out a gear in the roll race, making the smg stumble for the downshift.... what a disappointing performance by this driver. I'm not saying he should've won, but he made that csl look like a pile of slow crap.... shame... I say redo!!!! With a competitive driver, who understands smg...
I would get the E92 M3 and fit it with F80 style headlights. But good Lord the E46 looks amazing and I think it's the most handsome M3.

Delta Gaming i got one 2 years ago when i turned 18. perfect car for younger car guys. Not to much power but hell of fun to drive!! (Buy the Supersprint Race exhaust, best sound so far)

Update: im now 20 and looking at getting either an e46 m3 or bmw m240i, and then buying an m2 competition in a few years time. Those BMW straight 6's still have a hold on me

They should just release one with all its issues solved. Reinforced subframe mounts, cooling system that doesnt fall apart and the vanos issues sorted.
Maybe fix the terrible pillar trims too.

@@blitzy3244 just make sure you change the rod bearings on the V10 before that swap lol. I had an 07 M6 and it grenaded on me while driving normally down the freeway.
E30 is an iconic car... What a great car... But i like the E46 the most...
Nah I got a 36 and it drifts like mad got no traction in rain but had it 2 years never had problems had an E46 3 months subframe riped apart just tipped it as both bolts tore out back end leaving car like a rocking horse

Having had an E46 M3 and now having a F30 330d MSport with ppk, the F30 feels more powerful due to the torque, however the feel of the E46 m3 is just amazing it's a true hybrid of man and machine!
The f30 330d is great don't get me wrong power everywhere not just in the powerband and you don't have to kick it down gears to pull off that being said it just doesn't have the energy and spirit of the e46 M3.

Yes... I'd definitely be interested in seeing that. I've got an E46 320i manual with the 2.2 6 pot. Genuinely beat some faster cars up to 147mph. M3 next though.

E46 csl is still the best looking M3 for me but with the worst gearbox and especially for a performance car, BMW dropped the ball and I can see why many CSL have been converted to manual.
I love the E92 but not in orange.
The E30 was really fast in 1988 but it would probably be bested by a 320d today.
The new one is just progress but I don't find it a great looker

My dad had an e46 when I was about 14 when they first come out. Always remember that exhaust sound there is nothing else like it. I’d definitely buy an e46 if I had the money.

Okay so I just watched these guys "M3 CSL vs RS4 Audi". The CSL did the standing 1/4 mile in 13.5 sec's exactly the same as the E92 M3 did in this race. I call Shenanigans!!!! LOL.
If you goto 4:21 in the M3 CS vs RS4 Audi" Video you will see he had all the software settings for throttle, suspension, transmission turned to the *lowest* (slowest) modes in the M3 CS. Curious if he didn't realize it, or just didn't care.
Yes noticed that the trans settings were on lower settings. In mdm and leave in auto my E92 is a rocket, I wonder if they held back the E92 on purpose.

Having driven few different gens I must disagree, they all corner soo great that's the magic of the 3 series it's the perfect driving machine! Each generation is simply better than the last (not necessarily to own) and it's a beautiful thing because they all leave a legacy behind. E30 is a legend made because BMW had to make it for racing, E36 is often overlooked but it had heaps of power in post lift version and the CS was the most slidey car ever! E90/92 brought a V8 to the platform and it just has some magic to it, plus the GT3 E92 based cars were beastly. The F80 just takes all what makes the 3 series great and modernized it to make for a ridiculous saloon

I think the SMG gearbox was awesome. It is lighter than a automatic double-clutch, and on the track (where you need it) it doesn't matter how hard the gears come in. My father got a M3 with SMG, and he said it was just so freaking awesome to drive it.
