Are the oil hubs actually different from the grease hubs? I'd like to just remove the grease, clean the bearings, put in new seals and change the hub cap to the oil type. Do you know if there's any reason you can't do this? Also, separate question... i have the same 7k Lippert axles. Haven't pulled off the drums, but are they all manual adjusting from the factory? Thanks! ✌️
To answer you second question 1st That depends on the manufacture if it’s Kaufman Trailers then I’m pretty sure they are manual adjusting. If not then no idea best to call the manufacturer and give them the vin they will tell you right away. Now to answer the first question they are different because the oil bath seal actually retains the oil inside as well as the front cap needs screw threads to screw on the caps grease dose not have that function. And grease seals dose not retain grease then imagine hot gear oil it’s a special seal just made for that. Hope that helps.
I have done a video on it just haven’t had the chance to edited it yet it’s amazing why better then grease Maintenance time cut in short They’re more heavy duties so it works out for the work that I do on the trailer overall I’m very happy that I did this conversion. Videos gonna come soon
@@turneynicholas Yes definitely oil is way less of a headache I have been very happy with it and it was a very good investment I’m spending less money now just buying hub oil for it.
I would love to use hydraulic disk brakes but… at that time I was quoted $2800 for Dexter oil bath brakes and hubs. But for hydraulics I was quoted $6800. Not worth it if I’m going to buy a 6 car trailer or a stinger.
18:40 The main problem when asking for advice on a FB group.

Hi! Why u don't use hidraulic disk brakes with oil bath?
