Fr, there was a lot of missed potential. They couldn't even give Barris a proper ending and purposefully left things in a way where they can still bring back her character whenever they want. BUT while there is a lot to complain about, one thing that I haven't seen many ppl talk about is how the bad guys seem actually COMPETENT in this show? It felt SOOO refreshing to have the Inquisitors, Grievous, Thrawn and even the Commando droid in episode one actually be viewed as a threat and not a gimmick. And one more thing I have to gush about is how PERFECT this version of Thrawn was. That three minute scene with him was better than anything we got out of him in Ahsoka, his clone wars model was amazing looking, and his dialogue was better written than anything we got in Ahsoka. It made me feel like THIS was the actual Thrawn from the books.

Yes, exactly. Also, I would have preferred it if Barriss was more evil in Tales of the Empire. She literally bombed the Jedi temple and framed her friend Ashoka. Yes, Barriss at first had good intentions, but so did Dooku and Anakin, but the dark side ended up consuming them. It would make more sense if the dark side consumed her more.

I was so hyped for Ahsoka until I realized that it's just Rebels part 2. Although the camera follows Ahsoka a lot of the time, the main character is Sabine, the most mary sue of all star wars characters, including Rey. Which, just sucks. Rebels in retrospect, was really really bad with the only good episodes revolving around Clone Wars characters lmao.

@@lynchn9562 Painstakingly yes. But it felt like a chore. The show doesn't understand what it wants to be. It hurt my head with the constant tonal whiplash. If it just wanted to be a kid's show, most of my problems with it would be perfectly fine, but it doesn't. They purposefully add things they know only older fans will get enjoyment out of, like Thrawn, and the continuation of Ahsoka and Maul. So one second it feels like a typical goofy kids show, and then you'll cut to some big star wars lore or someone being murdered. But even then, the violence in this show is toned down to the max, to the point where villians don't really seem that scary. And I get why, because it aired on DisneyXD who are very strict about that stuff because of their demographic. Compare that to clone wars (which was not made by disney and aired on cartoon network, giving them A LOT of freedom with what they could show) where some scenes actually had to be CENSORED for tv because it was just too graphic (Ventress kissing a dying clone whom she just impaled). The villians in the show apart from Thrawn are all treated like stormtroopers, like cmon, how am I supposed to fear these inquisitors when some episodes just straight up start with the main cast escaping them, and when THEY FUCKING FLY LIKE A HELICOPTER WITH THEIR LIGHTSABERS?? AND THAT'S CANNON?? Rebels also likes to rush through what should be super intriguing plot points, like when the crew finds Rex and Kanan obviously doesn't trust him and has every right not to, but this is Rebels, so Kanan gets over his distrust in a single episode with little to no problems. But by far my biggest complaint with the show IS THE CHARACTERS. The only characters I liked were Kanan and Hera, but everyone else in the main cast, are just downright horrible. Sabine for example is a walking hot topic advertisement. She's so cliche that it feels like she isn't supposed to be taken seriously and that's she's written kind of tongue-in-cheek. It feels like she's the forced strong female character, but not in the sense that she's well written or understandable. She has cool stuff that she can do but there's nothing underneath it. She's a tough ex-bounty hunter who used to work with gangsters. She's an expert hand to hand combatant, marksman, and demolitionist. She's pretty and a talented artist, but she like to keep to herself doesn't really trust anyone. She's also a Mandalorian and wields the dark saber. Oh and also she's the QUEEN of the Mandalorians. And she's only 16 years old. OH, and now she can USE THE FORCE??Like... c'mon. Can you tell why I'm a bit upset over the storytelling? If she were written better she could be amazing. Compare her to Hera and there's a stark difference. Hera acts like a real person and every achievement she gets, feels earned. But the WORST character is the main one. Space Aladdin, AKA, Ezra. Ezra holds the show back SOOO much. I cannot pinpoint ANY concrete character traits for him. You could say he's "a good kid who wants to do the right thing for people", sure. But some episodes he wants to help innocent people, but then a few episodes later he'll argue AGIANST getting food and supplies to people because it's too dangerous?? What?? He frankly just acts however the plot needs him to act. Which can be applied to nearly every character in Rebels, but Ezra gets it the worst. I count rant on and on but I'll end it here as I don't want to write an entire essay in a comment section maybe 3 people will see.
@Coolgame6812 I'll probably be one of few who will read that. Your arguments and opinions are valid. I happen to have enjoyed Clone Wars and Rebels. Rebels does feel like a kids show but in all honesty it didn't really bother me as much
@@lynchn9562 I liked Rebels also. I liked Ahsoka episodes 3-7 a lot. 1 and 2 were kind of eh and I hated the Sabine "Disney stab" choice. I was super let down by the finale though. This decision with Barriss's character is in a way a further let down for the future of Ahsoka and makes me think that Filoni isn't as good as I hoped he was.

Let's not forget about Thrawn. Seeing him in the Clone Wars style was so sick. And his dialogue was LEAGUES better than anything in Ahsoka. And ngl, seeing all these rebels characters in the Clone Wars style, like the grand inquisitor, makes me even more salty over the art style that rebels went with and how all the actually good arcs had to look so bad in comparison.

I do not understand the Barriss stuff. She bombed the jedi temple, killed innocent people including Jedi but all of a sudden she's like no we can't kill people !! So lame.
She didn´t bombed the Jedi temple...have you even watched The Clone Wars? I know what you mean but she PLANNED it. It wasn´t her who actually did it. Neither to say people can have regrets for their actions. She had a lot of time to think about what she did or how she did it. And she didn´t like the Jedi order because they were the one who continued the war im her eyes.
And guess what...The Empire kills anyone they want. Even kids. Obviously she don´t want people to suffer more- that was her entire point in The Clone Wars.

@@simonlaus3819 exactly, she hated what the Jedi had become, as they were too invested in politics and strayed from what jedi are supposed to be - thats why she bombed the Jedi temple to get the councils attention - though resulting in many deaths many more would come if they didn't stop the war.

Theory stop complaining this was good Star Wars. You’re complaining about the story not being what you want instead of appreciating the story we got. You sound like the fans that hated the Prequels because we didn’t get to see Vader in the suit hunt down the Jedi. We still got a good story. You guys keep complaining and Disney is going make us wait 10-15 years for new content like we had to do when we were kids
Bingo. As a 54 year old trilogy generation kid we HATED the prequels at first (I was 29-36 years old or then). The clone wars and rebels helped me truly appreciate them. The kids during that time, like SWT, are the toxic ones that hated the sequals and the Disney stuff. Even the amazing ANDOR!

@@vonnstevens2502 I agree Theory is special when it comes to Star Wars fandom. But it’s not realistic to think you’re going to like everything that comes out of this franchise. Disney gave us Rogue One, Mandalorian, last season of clone wars, Andor….these weee pretty good. Then there’s the other content that was either ok or just not good…..Buy it’s not all bad. In the end I try to watch the entire series before I categorize it as great or trash. Who knows, the next 4 episodes of The Acolyte could be really good despite the poor start. Let’s just see
Forgot to mention Disney also did Bad Batch, Visions, Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire which were all pretty decent. I’m not saying The Acolyte is great Star Wars (although episode 5 was f-ing cool). I can name 4 or 5 other franchises that are truly dead. Stars Wars is alive and well and the next 3 episodes might just save this show that has been eviscerated on the internet. The critics who scored the series a 85% must have saw something good. Let’s see what happens
I can not understand how you hate on even this show. At the started i wanted this show to be about palpatine, grevious, plageus and so on. But this was so good that i dont care for all i wanted. I really think people are not understanding Barriss. I liked many thought she should've been an Inquisitor because she fell. But then, I realized it wouldn't have made sense. She called the Jedi out for being puppets of the dark side. She believed in what the Jedi used to stand for. So, why would she serve the Empire when it's everything she preached the Jedi were serving. By joining the Inquisitors she saw what she had become and how the Fourth Sister is what she would eventually be if she continued.

Theory how have you got Barriss so wrong. She was never evil. She was a radical who so a Jedi traditionalist. She hated what the Jedi had become. How they’d fallen from being peace keepers. Her actions were to create a divide between the Republic and the order so that the Jedi could be drawn away from the war and go back to be being peace keepers. Why would she ever side with the Inquistors? Like why? Her entire character arc is she acts to stop the mindless violence of war. She’s not gonna stand by and watch innocent civilians be executed. I fell asleep twice trying to watch this. I don’t give a rats ass about Morgan or Barris. I mean Barris was kinda interesting but just was all terrible. TOTJ was light years better than this garbage
Bariss saw the Jedi in a similar way she sees the Inquisitors. These were not her people. The Inquisitors are even worse than the Jedi, and that causes Bariss to defect. I didn't have much issue with that. Part of me also believes that the reason Vader didn't acknowledge Bariss is because that would expose that he was once Anakin Skywalker. Vader wants to be far removed from his Anakin reputation as possible. Remember, the Grand Inquisitor was present during the Bariss trial as a temple guard. That would help him put 2 and 2 together if Vader acknowledges his history with Bariss.
As far as the Morgan stuff, the only thing that irked me was that she was behind the Tie-Defender project. I'm honestly hoping that it's moreso that it is a rough draft and then the design is further refined by Thrawn. I do not mind it not being his idea, but I feel he should have more to contribute to it if it is to be HIS project. Thrawn does not come across as someone who takes credit for everything, that is more of a Tarkin thing. Like I'm perfectly okay with the Tie-Defender project being a collaborative effort.

They missed such a great opportunity to have Barriss Offee become a notable threat the Ahsoka. Imagine Barriss Offee becoming the last Inquisitor because of how good she was and they could've tied her in with Thrawn and made her an Inquisitor that was assigned to him. Then the only thing they wouldve had to do was explain why she wasn't with him in rebels and why she wasnt helping during the Ahsoka show by coming up with a mission Thrawn needed her to do.

Why do we assume Barris was ever in the dark? She seemed to me like a saw gerrera type that was jaded and felt the Jedi Order was out of control and dangerous. She was an idealist who went down a temporary path of terrorism.

Going to have to disagree with you on this one. At least about the last three episodes. I thought the stuff with Morgan was kind of a waste of time, I agree on that. But I loved Barris’ arc so much. I thought it was beautiful.

What a pointless waste of her potential… both in universe (she could help so many people, fight the Empire, protect force sensitive children) and to future story telling. If she’s not Ahsoka’s nemesis, fine. She could train Grogu in the force but different from the Jedi way. She could aid the Rebellion. It’s almost like Disney didn’t know what to do either her so they just kill her off.
Bariss should have been in Snoke’s position. Caretaker of the Contingency. Return to “help” Luke rebuild the Jedi Order and offer him tales of his father, Yoda, Obi Wan… Luke could have entrusted her to train Ben so it doesn’t seem like nepotism to the other students. She could have fulfilled the mother role that Leia failed to do because she was preoccupied with politics, slowly grooming Ben to join her and betray Luke. Instead of another crusty old guy luring Ben to the Dark Side. She had every reason to seek revenge on a Skywalker

its true. really rough terrain. its nothing to something like the battle of umbara, the inhibitor chip arc or the darth maul episodes. Its like miles apart from being great. I loved clone wars amination but the story is just boring af. George was involved in the clone wars, maybe his influence was THAT great on star wars. But it's sad that the creative part nowadays just sucks balls this hard.

Youre free to have your own opinion, but Vader's story is told, its not about him anymore. Any appearance from now on is fan service. I personally enjoyed the Barris redemption arc, she was given the chance to serve something that wasn't the Jedi/Republic, saw everything in a different light and chose her path. Who knows what her mindset was at in the last episode, maybe she was just helping The Way.

I understand where you're coming from dude but I gotta disagree with the notion that Barriss is past redemption because she bombed the jedi temple and was evil. One of the main points of star wars is that anyone can be redeemed. Look at Vader. I do understand if you mean that the "switch up" was too quick and without real reason though. I do think it would've been more interesting if she went up against Ahsoka and Ahsoka brought her back to the light. I think they were alluding to her finding Ahsoka with the "old friend" line, but I think it would have been better to replace episode 5 with her and Barriss fighting, and Ahsoka forgiving her or something (kinda like what already happens in episode 6 with Barriss and Lyn).
The episodes were focused on less featured women in Star Wars. This felt like a Kennedy driven series. Even the boy with the crazy hair coming out the side of his head got choked and sent down a hole in the floor.

9.5/10 for me, it was amazing! Just felt that episode 6 was a bit rushed, if they had made it a double length then the season would probably be 10/10 for me.

@@chadbrad8100 Well just maybe I’m over exaggerating a little bit but yes I’m very happy with it. To me it was better than Rebels, better than Mando, Kenobi, Book of Boba, Solo, Ahsoka and ofc the terrible sequals. It was no TCW but quite close imo, for a first season this is pretty perfect to me. The best Disney era Star Wars alongside Andor and Rogue One imo. BTW I’ve seen another review here on youtube where the majority seemed to like it, I guess what also comes to play that agreeing with the yt channel’s opinion is typical human/sheep behaviour that you often see in comment sections.

Barriss could have helped the Rebellion, protected force sensitive children, helped Luke form a better version of the Jedi, train Grogu in the force without the dogmatic view of the Jedi… so much potential both in universe and in future storytelling… what a waste 😔

As soon as she saw "Lyn" kill those villagers, I sensed she would turn against the Empire. I hoped she wouldn't, but she did.
What I wanna know is who was the jedi she saved? And who was she referring to when she said, "she will help you" when she saved the force sensitive child and family. Also, who is the force sensitive child?

Disney just need to put all their effort into animation with star wars. It surpasses anything Live Action they've made. Im glad to see characters we've only seen animated in Rebels be redone in Clone Wars style. Grand Inquisitor, Ruuk and Thrawn look so much better than their Rebels counterparts.
Enjoyed the series overall i think it was much better than Ahsokas episodes in Tales of the Jedi but that's just personal preference. Dooku's episodes were perfection.
The difference between Ahsoka animated to Live Action is night and day.
Bad guys in Star Wars, at least for the most part are so much more interesting to learn about than the Hero's. Would much rather a Tales of the Empire 2 before a Tales of the Jedi 2 but would happily have both.

Hehe, there was a character, I think it was the Jedi that the Leading Inquisitor (the one with Barriss) referred to as "they." Such a subtle detail...
Also, from Rebels, I thought the TIE-defender project was something Thrawn came up with. But no, of course we can't have that.
It was good but not great as Tales of the Jedi which was great.

The Morgan Elzbeth episodes episodes felt completely useless. Barris episode 4-5 were REALLY good, it wouldn't be consistent to make her evil, she doesn't like the jedi or the sith, she just wants an order that acts as proper piece keepers, why would she become Ashoka's rival or whatever?? She was told the inquisitors would do a better job, and when she witnessed first hand what they actually did, she realised that yet again she worked for a failed order that only follows what the superiors tell them. But yeah, episode 6 was bad lmao😂
Starwars Theory, I reckon you have another look into her character before you think she should be vaders soldier.

Yeah, I just rewatched Tales of the Jedi just to make sure its better as I remember, and the whole Dooku story and the 5th ep and a little bit of the 6th were great, really compelling, you felt and connected with those chars. Also the 1st ep I want that interested in, last yes cause it's redoing the novel but maybe not still but better than this cause Ashoka. Also more complex, this was simple.
I thought the Morgan Elsbeith arc was good. I was hooked in and I enjoyed the first 3 episodes. Not a character I’m too interested in though.
However, Barris I was interested in and, again, I was hooked in episode 4. But the last 2 episodes were a real disappointment. Massive missed opportunity imo and it did feel like very basic writing.
What kinda pissed me off a little was not they turned Barriss away from the dark side, it’s what they did with her being a “good guy”
Episode 5, they had a REALLY interesting story of an inquisitor misunderstanding the Empire’s goals and trying to be genuinely good for the people. She still hates the Jedi, but overall was a good person, willing to offer a hand to the Jedi they were hunting for them to live as an inquisitor. But instead they turned around and turned her into some monk on an ice planet. And I mean sure, episode 6 had a fine message to it, good themes… but they dropped something genuinely interesting for that boring route… AND THEN THEY KILL HER OFF I MEAN WHATS THE POINT?????? I feel like I wasted my time getting invested in her story. It’s just crazy cause I really liked the majority of this season and despite the last episode I say Tales of the Empire was awesome… but they dropped something so interesting for the literal most boring, white bread story that every Jedi after the prequels goes down… I’m just so unbelievably disappointed in that last episode, otherwise I really enjoyed the majority of it

This show might have pushed me over the edge with Star Wars. First three episodes were pretty good. 4th episode was amazing. Start if fifth was really cool then barriss just becomes good again? Wtf? And non binary Jedi bs is stupid asf. Next episode, kinda slow, barriss survives another stab wound. Lightsabers suck now - thanks Disney. Shit gets starts getting good then immediately takes a dump on all previous episodes.
Morgan Elsebeth bits would've been good if half the show didn't revolve around her. Then the second half is pretty much about 2 characters, aside from the first one. And there you have it.

Tales Of The Empire was a big disappointment. Barriss Offee should of been a reveal not a random main character with a redemption arc!
Barriss episode 5 & 6 were absolutely terrible.
That being said, I want Tales of the Force next. Give us Baylan & Chirrut!
they could have saved barris for ashoka season 2. THen kill her off. It would make her death more meaningful knowing she had a close friendship with Ashoka. So disappointing
Bariss wasn't a different character... She never fell completly to the dark side. Sure she channeled the dark side a few times but she never let it consume her. She was disillusioned by the Clone Wars and it lead her down a path where she saw everyone around her fully consumed by the dark side and she realized this was not her path. Thought it was actually a great arc. Still lots of time gaps for them to play with to bring in a Ahsoka reunion. Also, maybe she's dead, maybe she's not.
Will there be more of tales of the empire ? Like more the 6 episodes or season 2 of it?

Went into this thinking I would like the Bariss stuff WAY more than the Morgan Elsbeth stuff, but the exact opposite ended up happening lol, those last two episodes were shite

I know ventress left but we shoulda got a ventress one and baylan, and then ventress shoulda been who they revived in ahsoka instead of reviving the storm troopers and then she fights ahsoka in her show, but no they made her survive in bad batch and now she’s just out there which makes no sense
Yeah tbh it wasn’t that great , I mean it was ok , nothing special, the beginning of episode 1 with grievous was great , the rest was mid , only really liked episode 4-5 , and how she was killed in episode 6 was so dumb , this wasn’t their best work
Don't understand why they would choose Bariss and Morgan to represent the empire. So many better choices. And they have Bariss switch sides so it's not even a tale of the empire at that point.
I wouldn't mind a Bariss redemption arc but it wasn't done in an interesting way at all
I am disappointed that Vader didn't have enough screen time. Also, I would have preferred it if Barriss was more evil in Tales of the Empire. She literally bombed the Jedi temple, which killed innocent civilians and then she framed her friend Ashoka. Yes, Barriss at first had good intentions, but so did Dooku and Anakin, but the dark side ended up consuming them. It would make more sense if the dark side consumed her more. It would have been interesting to see Vader interacting with Barriss. Also, it would have been a more interesting plot to see Vader training the inquisitors and torturing them, especially Barriss. Given Vader's personal vendetta against Barriss for her involvement in the bombing of the Jedi temple and the framing of Ahsoka, the dynamic between them would have been intense. Vader's treatment of Barriss would involve both physical and psychological torment. This could have been portrayed through a scenario where Vader instructs Barriss to capture her former master, Luminara, and orders her to eliminate her. During this encounter, Barriss might begin to sense a connection between Vader and his former identity as Anakin Skywalker.
SO MUCH WASTED POTENTIAL. I was so intrigued by the thought of seeing Vader practically RIGHT AFTER he gets his suit, and maybe getting a sense of internal conflict over what he's done and what he's doing, but nah, let's have him sit in a chair and not even move his head. (Though, gotta say, his suit looked nearly photo realistic with all these engine upgrades they've been doing. Like, even though I didn't care much for how the story was executed, I was in awe of the animation nearly the entire show.)
So tells of the empire was everything but tails of the empire. I thought we see Vader hunt down Jedi, or the first rebel battle or even just palpatine in on the senate floor. This one sucked. I don’t give a shit about the night sister arch or development barris was the saving grace to that show.
You forget though she did have a Jedi as a teacher I saw it as that Barris just did that bombing because of the problem she had with the Jedi but that doesn't mean she is all evil because of her Jedi training and that is why she literally doesn't kill the kid or those other humans and the way they went with her I liked it because it shows she didn't have a problem with Ashoka it was Jedi order as a whole and what she did was something similar to what Luke did with Vader Luke showed his father a better path and that is what barriss did with the inquisitor and leaving it like that is great showing the Darksider that trained her leaving behind her lightsaber for a better life and hopefully Barris just passed on would make a great send off to her

Make a new one and focus on Grand Inquisitor and Thrawn. That would be insane
I loved the show but the Vader stuff was disappointing(we need a full Vader series)
