So far, the most informative mosquito DIY trap I've seen. Socks! That's a great idea.
Excellent presentation. Also I like that you tested it out with positive results.
Thats awesome, they also love urine so keep your sample in a can or container underneath the light below the fan and watch the parasites rush in as the urine
warms up and evaporates it is very effective outside.
Good ideas. Whatever works the most effectively!
I was standing looking out the backyard through my double pane glass that stretches from floor to ceiling. There were two incidents happened where a mosquito would fly straight at my face. I felt they evolved to see us now.
Thanks a lot for uploading. This is exactly what i was looking for.
Resourceful and effective. I like it!
Thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you.
THAT'S AMAZING.
Nice! lol Well done. Super simple.
Brilliant Mate!
If you want to attract more moths you could probably use a 50w mercury vapour bulb & a ballast for the bulb. The ballast would make more heat aswell
Brilliant
For the lure, you could soak a rag in apple cider vinegar. Those bastards LOVE that crap 🙄
Great idea!
I need something like this for my apartment....if you go outside the second you open the door if your not careful they'll begin to carry you away
Hi fred, some updates on this mosquito trap? It is still going? Can you show us smt more?
Yes its still going. Had to change the bulb this summer.
Thanks for that details. I didn't get proper position of the fan. How exactly it is extracting it in.
Its a bit of trial and error, with the positioning of the lure on the can. You don't want it too close to the fan, otherwise the chemical will be drawn through the fan and out through the screen. This causes the mozzies to fly underneath to the screen.
I too would like to know how many you caught. Roughly how many do you get in 24 hours?
Its actually running again right now. I did need to give it a service (new bulb lol) The mozzy count varies dependent on wind direction with that type of lure, but yesterday after about 22 hours, I got 27 moths and 318 Mosquito's.
Neat device. Instead of the net, can I just use a sock?
Sure you could, as long as you get good air flow.
What is that white thing? Where to buy that things?
That is the Mosquito attractant chemical.
how many you get in 24 hrs?
Placed next to my Runner Beans:
Approx 1200 Mosquito's, 34 Gypsy Moths, 9 Japanese Beetles, 5 Deer Fly's, and a small pile of unidentifiable insect parts!
Awesome DIY!
Brilliant. Does it still run today in 2021 covid😁
LOL yes it does. I had to put a new bulb in it.
¡Super! Por favor pon el vídeo funcionando. Por favor ,por favor...
I know that mosquitoes attracks to high pitch sound..
Add some iron filings the motor armature.
Mosquito lure octenol is not available in India, can you suggest any other alternative ?
Use an old shoe insole, they'll be attracted to that. Chemical wise, not sure if there is an international alternative, but Octenol is a type of mushroom alcohol, so you could try Phenethyl alcohol instead.
And how many kilowatts are you consuming???
15W/Hours
@@fredbrackely a 40 watt bulb and a fan at 15 watts per hour. Me thinks you need to read a little elect. theory bra.
@@fredbrackely every 24hrs will easily cost a unit (1KWh)
What do you use for the lure?
This is what I used for the lure:

@@fredbrackely A dog? O.O
