This is my largest order yet, both price and size. Starting with white oak logs, I milled lumber, then crafted this massive trestle table, weighing over 500 pounds. This videos shows a process that spanned over 4 months, with about 15-20 long days of hard work...maybe more, it's a blur. I go at this project hard, using all kinds of tools and techniques. I'll also be doing a article on my website, with links to different products and tools that I use. In addition to this video, I'll also be producing a multi part series narrating the process in detail for those of you who are interested.

As a woodworker myself, I watch all kinds of woodworking videos and I tell my wife "this guy doesn't know what he's doing" or "this guy knows". With this video I told her "damn.....this guy is good". Excellent work. Beautiful result
😂 I do the same thing, why is that.
MegaFunnyman86 I feel like it’s easy to see when someone knows what they’re doing. Even with my limited woodworking experience.
If you're interested in "wtf is this guy doing" videos, feel free to stop by mine lmao
I don't normally comment on much of anything, but I have to say you really put your heart and soul into what you do. Keep doing it. Amazing work my friend, your skills truly showed on that one
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
Doesn't matter where you're from. Watching a skilled craftsman work is always an utmost pleasure.
The right tool for the right job and the right tradesman to boot. Beautiful work.
I enjoy watching things being fabricated. Wood is a naturally beautiful medium. That trestle table must weigh as much as a piano!
Boy, I do LOVE the straight-grain look of that quarter-sawn oak. I swear, I could park my truck on that table and it would hold it, no problem. Just a gorgeous project. Beautiful work, sir.
Man this is a Georgeous table! This is the kind of table you buy once and use for the rest of your lives! Sheesh, tour grandkids could use this for the rest of their lives too!
What an a accomplishment!! If all young men had your drive and enthusiasm to hone their skills, the world would be a different place.
Man, that table is just absolutely stunning! You really gave that domino a workout!
I did, and it worked great. Really proved it's self on this project. It's like some sort of floor model tool jammed down into a hand tool. It's amazing.
That's a gigantic beautiful table, and it was excellently made. You're a true craftsman.
Thank you for watching, very much appreciated.
True craftsman. Have to ask, did you make the dowels out of the same stock?
No, they are from lowes......you got me.
So where do you fall in the great debate? Dowels that are softer wood or from the same stock?
Rl Badger They were oak dowels.
It's funny to see him use all the fancy Festool tools, and then clamp up his trestle with his Harbor Freight clamps. Beautiful table, beautiful process. Thanks for sharing.
+Jesse Taylor They are my favorite band clamps I've used.
No nails, no staples. You are an awesome craftsman.
Thank You very much for this long drawn out video detailing all the steps needed to achieve one fantastic piece of furniture! I am sure the owner loves it!
Your welcome.
I had to watch this again. ( along with my wife, she really loved it). You truly are a artist in wood! Awesome!
Thanks to both of you.
What a great piece of furniture and a lovely thing to do, the table will be around for years after we are all gone.
God bless people like you who still work with their hands and produce this kind of art.
Very nice project. You will never forget it either. I have a lot of "really big" projects like that many years ago. Seeing you work with that white oak reminded me of why we need young craftsmen. Again, very nice job, Steve
Thanks for watching.
Best ever tutorial of oak table making on YT. I'm full of admiration to your work. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching.
Cool Vaseline idea. Another old one is ivory soap.
When I was going to school and was in "before school daycare" in the mornings at my elementary, very young, they we're building huuuge wooden playscapes. So for weeks us kids sat in daycare rubbing screw threads with ivory soap. Was told "so the wood won't split". And it really works.
Ever since I watched Norm McDonald make a trestle table on The New Yankee Workshop, I've wanted to make one. Watching this build was a pleasure. This table is built to last, and I have no doubt it'll serve for many, many generations. Quality workmanship. Beautiful outcome. Really excellent work.
I'll correct you before someone does it in an internet fashion. Norm Abrams is the name you are looking for, and I too have been inspired by Norm many times. He is responsible for a lot of fine craftsmen I'm sure. Thanks for watching.
Ha! You're right, and I don't know why I said McDonald. I've only been watching that show for over 30 years. Thanks for pointing that out. Keep up the good work!
Beautiful table. Enjoyed watching the process start to finish! Well done!!
Thank you
That was absolutely incredible! From a log to table, You my friend are a true CRAFTSMAN!
You just made me change my title! I added Log to Table to the end, thanks.
No problem, You are one of my favorite youtuber's. I know its alot of work, but keep the videos coming. They give me and im sure alot of others motivation. Take care!
Best table on YT. I've seen sooo many, and they are all great. But this one: man, oh man. Stunning!
Thanks
That Trestle table will last hundreds of years. It is an enviable accomplishment that has left your mark on the world. Congrats!🎈🎊🍾
That was beautifully done, the build and the video !!
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
What a beautiful table. Someday when I have the space, time resources I would love. . .

I love watching this build over and over. It’s a beautiful table and you did a fantastic job on it.
Absolutely amazing. I didn’t know we still had that kind of craftsmanship anywhere. Thank you for sharing.
That was just amaaazing! Wish I had a house where that would fit :-)
I'm sure everyone will think about Matthew Cremona for the first two minutes of this video :') Well done mate, it looks awesome.
Thanks for watching
you gave wrangelerstar a beating hehe
Black Beard Projects 😄
Matthew Cremona Me too.
Black Beard Projects I heart Mathew Cremona
That's a beautiful table! Great job! Thank you for sharing the process. Your passion is noticeable and applauded.
That is an impressive result. This build is simply the best trestle table imaginable. Great work!
That is beautiful mate well done ....
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
Awesome project, congratulations on having the Balls to take it on......Brian.
Thank you, I'd love to do more stuff like this....but as expensive as it was it just takes so much time and effort. Doing this kind of custom work makes you do everything from the ground up. With that said, I'll probably say yes to the next big request as well. Thanks again.

How much such tables cost usually? I'm kind of lost in life, and thinking about if I could make a living this way...
That is truly wonderful. With that table so large & beautiful. There will be a lot of positive word of mouth advertising. While watching this I put myself in your shoes. Started out learning this in high school built tables on my own. Years later and now look at your craft.
Very proud moment indeed.
Thanks for the vid....
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
Oh, my - that wood grain! Such a beautiful piece!!
So amazing
Thanks
My goodness! Talk about man hours you had to have alot in this one! But well worth the turn out Beautiful as usual!
Happy with the results but it was way to time consuming! It'll be on the list of projects I don't forget.
Your young plus the video will pay huge dividends you are good at what you remember that !!!
The part at the end breaking down the project costs and other resources, is very inspiring!! The end result is worth it!!
I was very impressed from start to finish. Rarely do you see such work that truly is a life time piece for generations to enjoy.
That is a sexy beast of a table.
I'll take it
Read through the 229 comments (so far) and the replies you made but didn't see these mentioned.
1- How did you get it delivered? I know it was two pieces but still big and heavy. Rental 18 wheeler? Haha
2- Without breadboard ends and having the 3 supports, how do you account for wood movement? Elongated holes?
Excellent build and beautiful results! It definitely looks like a huge table that would be in a lodge! This will last generations beyond us. Hope you put your mark on it (in blood).
1. I took things separately......the base, then the top, then the farm table and benches using the black truck to the customers house. Then they had a moving company pick it all up, with a bunch of other stuff for the cabin in a large truck. the top measured 12X4. The base is 8 feet long. The other table was 8 feet. So just one at a time.
2. I missed filming the part about the mounting holes, but you can see them at different parts of the video. The 3 supports have holes for large washers, then elongated holes for movement. There was also slots for table top mounting brackets as well. Once the professionals delivered it, the customer screwed the top on. Bread boards don't stop movement, they just help keep a table top flat and cover the end grain. I'm not the biggest fan of them.
When I say cabin, I don't mean a little quaint cabin, this is a large place where the table will fit nicely.
The Homestead Craftsman That black truck must have been down on the axels for each of those trips - haha.
Yes I saw the holes, just checking that my eyes weren't deceiving me. I know why the use of breadboards AND have seen how you aren't a fan of them.
Yes, Lodges are amazingly big and perfect for your great (both versions of that word - haha) country tables! The owners couldn't have picked a better craftsman!
@The Big Ragu Ragusa A breadboard is a separate piece of wood that fastens (in this case) on each short end of the surface, keeping the ends of large laminated pieces like tabletops, countertops, etc. (which are prone to warping) from warping. Most table crafters would deem them necessary in a piece this size. Some will argue that they make a piece more attractive, some will argue the opposite. Either way they add to the labor of the piece. Whether this piece will suffer without them, only time can answer that.
You have every right to be proud of that table. What a beautiful, wonderful piece of work.
I saw this video a couple years ago and was highly impressed then. Watched it again today and even enjoyed it more than the first time. Great project and excellent work. Hopefully I can muster up the initiative to build one half this size. Thanks for sharing.
That table gonna weigh 500 pounds 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 wow, some table, great job! that’s some business to have.
I would rather hear the work than the music. Good job!
That is the most amazing table I’ve ever seen. Great job! Beautiful!
ive seen and built alot of tables but i think that is one of my favorites, beautiful build
There are no words. I mean... no - there are no words.
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
Great job i have recently gotten into making tables from reclaimed wood i truly love working with the materials and the finish product but it is a lot of hard work lol.. I have a question i have some reclaimed popular planks 2x10x1.5 what can they be used for my guess they are 100 years old.
Anything you'd like. If they have a nice aged brown/grey I would try to leave that if your going for a farm table top. If you sand them too much your gonna get the poplar green which won't look good. You could also mill it up as any other lumber and use it for anything.
The wood is very soft but still has the huge saw marks i am not sure what to do with it. A customer seen it and he builds homes said that it is rare . I was just wondering if it sought over if someone wants it more than me i like the long leaf heart pine if anyone reads this that is interested in it please let me know.
Oh ya, got you covered on that; "Bad Ass!" (that works)
Wow that is one massive table. Amazing work. I'm sure the customer was thrilled with it. Thanks so much for sharing the journey. :)
WOW! That is ome fine craftsmanship there!! A beautiful table!
I have only just found your channel, I love your attitude & presentation style. Your passion for the craft really shows.
George, England
Awesome job making the table. It's a great, sturdy one that'll last for many decades to come.
I've never commented on your videos before even though I've been watching them for a long time. I've always liked your work, but this...this is absolutely amazing. What a process.
Thank you Nathan, it was a big project, glad you enjoyed watching.
I'm so inspired to build a big table now. I've been following you for years and personally for me that was the best (start to finish) project you've done. Thank you!
Thanks, I'll agree with you. It's definitely in my list of top videos and it should be, it was a killer to get finished.
I’ve been woodworking for 28 years and never been able to work in a shop like that. Basically the best tools for everything! I am jealous!
Its a pleasure to see a fine craftsman at work!
Unreal. Excellent job. Your attention to detail and precision are inspiring.
I'm sure your video showed only snippets of the hours and hours of hard work that went into this project. Very well done sir. I'm sure your customers were more than happy with this masterpiece. If this went into a cabin it must be the great hall of the people.
To give you an idea, I stayed up 17 hours last night just to finish the video....which I had already worked on a great deal....and that's just the video. Making the table was extremely labor intensive and time consuming. I could have made 20-25 of my farm table in the time it took me to make this table. The cabin is big, not a small little thing in the woods......a mansion cabin of sorts!
What a beautiful table. A real work of art. I am genuinely impressed with your talent and abilities. I would buy furniture you made any day over mass produced furniture in stores today. Beautiful job!
Absolutely a work of art and turned out just beautiful!
Very nice! I just built my first live edge trestle table, but it is "dwarfed" by this "beast" you created. I'm sure your client was extremely happy.
You sir, have just raised the bar! This is the crown jewel. Well done. Thank you for sharing the process with us.
Ha, thanks. I've built a lot of furniture, and a lot more complex than this but on my channel have mainly focused on faster work as that's what I do the most for my business. I'd like to start doing more traditional projects on the channel as I have the experience, but have lacked the time it takes over the past few years.
NICE PICNIC TABLE!
World needs to keep some huge makers like u, very awesome, amazing...ahhhh beautifull, every good thing that we can say, keep doing it in this way man.
I was thinking about building a table for myself...but maybe not after watching this video. You have a true calling. Very lucky. It's probably not all that much fun and maybe even some parts of the job are boring...but you must feel a great satisfaction. The buyer should have given you extra money. Maybe he still will. I know it all works out in the end but still, the buyer should be more thankful. Beautiful!
What a great project. I was glued to the screen through out the whole build. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, means a lot to know you enjoyed it after all the work. Thanks for watching.
Dude. Watching you build this table was amazing. You are a true skilled craftsman.
I got to point out a bunch of odd angle joints and you fitted them all perfect. That table came out stunning! So glad you shared this.
Thanks, I'm glad I was able to get the video put together as well. It was not easy given the time I had to finish it. Thanks for watching. If you are willing, sharing this video to facebook, etc would be appreciated.
This video was incredible. Thanks for putting this together.
That’s a spectacular table. It looks like the trestle tables I’ve seen in dozens of castles in Europe so it’s perfect. If I had a bigger kitchen I’d love one too.
Most beautiful table I have seen. True craftsmanship.
Such an enjoyable watch! Thanks for taking us mere mortals along for the ride :)
This is one of the most beautiful RUclips videos I’ve ever watched. Thank you.
Thank you
You are a true craftsman and do wonderful work from start to finish...........they are going to love that table for ever.
Fantastic!!! You’re a true master craftsman!!! It was a pleasure watching you work your craft!!! ☮️🖖🏽
What a table ! I am glad you showed the complete assembly & work some people have no ideal how long it takes to do jobs like this. I worked as a carpenter for several years enjoyed the work. My dad was a very gifted carpenter, he could build anything. I hurt my back in a construction accident & had to give up that kind of work it's something that gets in your blood. I just found your channel, I hope you post lots of projects.
Hi. During the lockdown for corona virus, I showed this to my 7 yo son to watch and write about it. It was very interesting to both of us to see how the rough tree turned into that beautiful table. Excellent job! Thanks!
That is an awesome table and an awesome job. The trolls that left a thumbs down are just stupid. Hopefully one day I will have the tools and ability to create something like that. Thanks for the video.
A most enjoyable video demonstrating high level craftsmanship. Thank you .
That right there is quality my friend. My grandfather would be proud of workmanship like that. Your parents must be proud of you buddy.
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
Great work. I would be really proud to have made this.
That is truly a piece of art!! and the finish is perfect!! I look forward to the next video and you are an inspiration toget out and experience wood working.
Another work of art! Beautiful table!
Such beautiful work! You have an incredible talent. Best wishes! I hope they REALLY appreciate what a fine piece they received. And the great deal they got!
Beautiful work. Nice fits on those joints. Well done.
Wow...you are a master craftsman! Watching you build this reminded me of a table from the 1850's I was admiring in an antique store. The things you make will long outlast any of us here today.
Simply fabulous; probably your best yet! Best wishes from Scotland!
Thanks, just posted another video on the table, It's the first in a more detailed series about it. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html
2nd time I've watched this vid...dont know how its possible, but its even more beautiful than the 1st time! Quality crafstmanship sir! Well done
Gotta say I usually don't like music in building videos but your selection compliments your work! You have a great knack for music selection!
Fantastic job. Enjoy the "extra's". Beautiful work.
That brother, is incredible. You never cease to amaze me. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Very good job. That's stunning. Magic oak table
Great job, the table looks amazing a lot of work. God bless
That is just beautiful!!
I recently completed a very similar trestle table, though a bit smaller, with all mortise and tenon joinery. Seeing that domino at work makes me realize the massive amount of time I could have saved... I'm in love with that tool!!!
Thanks. I've got links for it in the description.....your just a few clicks away from owning it!
This was an epic build, man. Excellent craftsman, you are!
Thank you, I'm also doing a series of videos going over the details of this table. It will probably be 3 videos total, here's the first one. ruclips.net/video/CCEgLDIrR6s/видео.html I go over the order, design and milling lumber.
Great inspirational build. Thanks for posting!
Nice job! I usually mix my own varnishes, colors and make 15th C hide glue recipes from scratch (a main business venture for our furniture shop). I like your style of hand tool use. Currently I’m still restoring a 104 year old 60,000 sq’ dairy barn to use as our antique furniture production and restoration shop. Our area has a high interest in old farm and trestle style furniture.
It is a thing of beauty! Beautifully done.
Great craftsmanship. Such a massive table really takes a lot of support and your joint and execution of them do you proud.
Thanks
